Bought the Paragon J200CE from Mann's Music, for my wife to learn on and was pleasantly surprised at the way it plays. Acoustically it's good - plug it into an amp and it has a great tone. One doesn't expect everything at a budget price, but this guitar gets very close. The stock photos don't do the instrument justice, it is far better than they depict. I would certainly recommend the J200CE for anyone wanting an inexpensive entry level electro-acoustic guitar. The body size would also suit younger and smaller players. I would also be more than happy to buy from Mann's Music in the future.
Mann's has been around for a long time. I have been buying from them for over 40 years. They have always kept upto date with modern trends, yet maintaining the traditional touch. Where else can you buy a traditional accoustic violin or an cool electric violin; an accoustic guitar or a electric guitar, all with music and accessories to suit. One doesn't just have to visit the shop; if one lives away and cannot visit personally, there is the web site. Carry on the good work for another few centuries.
Bought a Paragon J002CE semi acoustic guitar. Very good value for money guitar. The guitar has a very nice finish ( I went for the brown burst, but the others look equally as good). Small size guitar, but that is what I wanted. Action not too high on the strings so is fairly easy to play (it is a £60 guitar after all, so can't expect a fabulous guitar. Tone and volume controls work well, and it sounds very nice if you want to plug in to your amp. Staff were helpful in the shop : no issues with letting me try it out in the shop at lunchtime
We recently purchased an electronic piano from Manns for our 11 year old and it really was an excellent experience. We were looked after Tim, the owner, and his knowledge and service was a joy.
We live 100 miles away and had simply popped in to find out more about models and pricing as we were in the area and had heard good reports about Manns. Tim quickly identified 3 models from different manufacturers that were suitable and within budget. My son spent a considerable time testing them before making a decision. We never felt under any pressure to buy but it was just inevitable that we did after such an easy experience.
I'm so pleased we made the effort to drive an hour to visit the Mann's Music piano showroom in Colchester. It was invaluable being able to try out the different pianos and discuss the most appropriate choice for us with Tim, who was able to explain the differences in price and quality of the many pianos they stock. We are very happy with our Roland, which was delivered precisely when they said it would be.
Being a complete novice i went to manns music shop as it has been in colchester ever since i can remember, the staff (alex) was very professional and passionate about his craft and listened to my questions and asked a few till he could recomend what i needed, then went the extra mile by showing me how to hold the instrument and some useful tips to point me where to go next, excelent service if i could i would give 6 stars
For anyone that read the previous review to this one I can confirm that Mann’s promptly contacted me with a more in depth explanation of the “problem” I had with my order and I’m now 100% satisfied with the whole experience. Exceptional customer service and care from very knowledgeable and honourable people. I would advise anyone and everyone to shop at Mann’s. Thank you to Alex for the clarification and if you want to send me that email/pics as clarification that would be great.
It was great to be able to go into a local music shop and talk to someone who knew about instruments and could give sensible answers to my questions about buying a keyboard for my daughter for the first time. I wasn't pushed to buy the dearest option, instead being recommended the one usually used in schools (which my daughter uses for her lessons). The box was a bit damaged but despite being very busy the member of staff still unpacked the keyboard so we could check for damage and he gave me a discount. As it was large he suggested I drive to the shop, showed me the loading bay amd when I arrived he packed it into my car for me. I think I arrived at an unusually busy time, so had to wait a while for service, otherwise I would rate 5 stars, but all round very good.
The staff were very informative and made a sometimes complecated explination of a product easy to understand what is was capable of. Such a plesant experience made it easy for us to decide on what we wanted and we left having purchased a new digital piano.
I had seen the flute I was interested in online but thought I would like to try before buying. I was given the chance to try three flutes in a separate quiet area and not hassled at all. To be given the choice was great and the lady who served me was a credit to the shop.
I went to Mann's to both see about getting my trusty flute of 20 odd years either repadded or serviced and fixed (sticky pads, random squeaks, difficult or missing bottom notes), as well as to look at buying a new flute. Not only did I have excellent and knowledgeable advice given about the condition and economic viability of my old flute, but helpful and unbiased advice about the range of new flutes on sale, and the opportunity to try out a number, without any pushiness, and even though I arrived at 5.10 with the shop closing at 5.30 - and even though I did not plan to buy the new flute at that point! Have now bought new flute, following a considerable amount of time, playing and trying out a number of different makes, and delighted not only with my purchase - how glorious it sounds! - but also with the hard case, cleaning cloths and stick, and fleecelined carrying case all included in the price! I would definitely recommend Mann's Music! For any instrumental purchases - staff work hard to learn their products so that they can give good and unbiased advice. Very pleased! Thank you Tim and thank you Mann's Music!
