This is the first time i have used this company.I ordered a dress for a ball.It didn't arrive and when I called today I was told it was discontinued.I asked about a refund but was told they didn't charge until goods received. Is this true? I was offered a 20% discount which is really 10% since I had a 10% discount on my first order. Shoddy service. The ball has come and gone.I had to buy a dress in a high street store. Dont normally shop on line. This has put me off.
I have never shopped with this company but a friend of mine has been conned out of £80 plus interest. I said that I'd do a bit of research and came across this site, so felt that I should warn people on her behalf. I am going to report them to Trading Standards and perhaps BBC Watch Dog should be informed too. These rogues shouldnt be allowed to trade.!
I returned everything I ordered from Marisota - the quality did not equate with either the description or photo of the item. One dress (£80+) looked okay but the quality of the material was not good and it had an unpleasant smell which did not disappear despite being aired for 5 days. Cheap dye no doubt. Then after having returned everything by courier I received a bill for £18. When I disputed this they offered to reduce it to £10 - am I supposed to be pleased, I owe nothing!! I asked to speak to a manager and was told I would receive a phone call within 24hrs. 7 days later I'm still waiting. I welcome the company proceeding to court to reclaim my 'debt' as it will give me the opportunity to challenge their adherence to consummer law.
Marisota send out huge amounts of flyers, paper based and online. You end up binning most of them unopened. However this is not advisable I now know! When you order on line they do not send an email to confirm payment as other do - only of your order, So when I ordered 2 items a couple of days apart in October, having gone through their payment process online I assumed they had taken payment for both. But they didn't and say I must have not ticked all the boxes. Now I have had to pay £60 for a £30 dress because I made no payments. I didn't know I had anything outstanding so unsurprisingly did not make payments. I am sure they sent a reminder but it got missed in all the other stuff they sent. They charge 34% for non-payment and they say my credit rating could be affected. Their customer services have no flexibility and it cost me 10p a minute to try to sort it out. I will never buy from them again,
Well got a "welcome back" flyer with 20% off showing a really nice dress; great I thought, went on line to find it - nope, nothing, nadder! I rang their PREMIUM line and after several minutes of pressing this and that number got through to a person who asked my postcode, number of house and then addressed me by name; so must have brought up my details! I spoke to an irascible phone operator who seemed unwilling to help as she kept asking me details of the flyer (ie product code, leaflet number) which I didn't have as the FLYER didn't have them. She seemed convinced it WASN'T Marisota. Finally she said, 'just send us back the flyer and we'll see if we can help - mark your account number on it' I told her I didn't have it (ages since I've dealt with them) and Ms Toffee Nose told me she couldn't let me have my account number as it wasn't company policy. As I was looking for the dress for a dinner in a couple of weeks time, I suggested I scanned the flyer and sent it off - very reluctantly she gave me the email address: "email@example.com" - kind of makes you think they'll take it seriously - NOT!!! They'll need to get their act together or what was an actual buying situation created by an attrracitve flyer will LOSE them business. Cathy Wilcox
i ordered a dress, lost packaging before i sent it back , then went on hols. returned and i did send it back quite late. i had a bill of £38 and £12 missed payment. when i returned it they took £38 off the bill and left the £12 . i thought they would cancel this. i ended up with a bill of £72. for nothing. i phoned them and admitted i had been late with payments ,but i had binned letters thinking i owed nothing, i offered to pay £35 for my mistake but felt £72 was a bit much to pay when i had no item from them . the customer service officer would not accept this . i told him they are robbing ********. and i still have to pay . i would not deal with this company again.
I ordered some goods for next day delivery. Late on the day of planned delivery I got an email to say the goods had been delivered and signed for by the customer. I hadn't received the goods nor did I have a card through the door.
I emailed and call Marisota the enxt day. They refused to contact the courier company to find out who was posing as me (i.e who had signed for the goods) or where the goods had actually been delivered. They also refused to refund the money.
I emailed their customer service director Mark Cheshire and copied in Angela Spindler (new CEO) not to chase up the parcel but to point out how this sort of service would lose them customers but didn't get a response. I think that says it all.
I am still without the goods and in dispute - someone is posing as me and has got the goods that I have had to pay for and still Marisota refuse to take this up with the courier.
I ordered two bras from Marisota online. The transaction went smoothly and I couldn't wait to get them in the mail. About three weeks later I get them in the mail, both of which were a) the wrong sizes and b) not even close to the size I had asked for. I immediately called them and they said that they no longer had the size I had ordered for each bra in stock. WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST CANCEL THE ORDER, NOTIFY ME, AND REFUND ME IN THE FIRST PLACE? Marisota claimed that they could send me a complimentary shipping label over two weeks ago. I called them and told them it didn't arrive, emphasizing that I wanted it through the mail. I recently checked my email to find that they had sent it through EMAIL. WTF? Again I called them immediately and told them that I wanted it through MAIL, not EMAIL. I bet they're just giving me the runaround so that I can't get my money back. Based on all of the terrible reviews, I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. WOULD NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN.
Advice to people who are thinking about shopping here: AVOID MARISOTA LIKE THE PLAGUE!
Placed and order for next day delivery, ordered online and then they cancelled without telling me! sat in all day waiting for goods what was never going to be received.... Rang them up and they didn't know why and I HAD TO CHASE THEM TO FIND OUT FURTHER!!! I don't think so.... You have now lost a very good customer!
Placed an order for next day delivery of four items on Sat - should have arrived on Monday. Order didn't arrive. I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until Tues - order still didn't arrive. Checked online - items cancelled!!!! Phoned the helpline - Marisota: 'well yes of course it's been cancelled you were trying to have your order delivered to a third party address'. Me: 'Well yes, I'm not in during the day and your website gave me the option to do that' Marisota: 'no it's not allowed if you're not paying cash'
WHY DID THE WEBSITE ALLOW ME TO SELECT AN ALTERNATE DELIVERY ADDRESS IF THIS ISN'T ALLOWED?
WHY DID NO ONE CONTACT ME TO ASK IF I WANTED TO CHANGE THE DELIVERY ADDRESS AS OPPOSED TO JUST CANCELLING MY ORDER?
WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME MY ORDER HAD BEEN CANCELLED?
I ask them to reinstate the order: Marisota: 'yes but can you give me all the item numbers?' Me: 'I don't have them to hand' (I wasn't at home and was speaking on my mobile where I could have seen the item numbers) Marisota: 'OK I'll have to do the brunt work at this end then'
WELL YES I'VE ALREADY DONE 'THE BRUNT WORK' ONCE SO IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU ACTUALLY TREATED ME LIKE A PAYING CUSTOMER.
WHY ARE MARISOTA STAFF SO DISSMISSIVE AND RUDE?
Then I discover that one of the items I originally ordered is now out of stock.
SHOCKING - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AND WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!!!!
Made a purchase which I returned and £60 was kept into my account. When I reordered other goods I was asked for card details and was given no opportunity to use the credit without making numerous telephone calls. Still have £42 in my account and have tried to order but again asked for card dedtails.
I ordered from Marisota in January, my items arrived on time. Within a couple of washes the fabric had deteriorated and I'd decided not to order from them again. If the trousers I'd ordered had been about £12, I wouldn't have been surprised at the quality, but I paid £30. I was unable to log into my account or recover the password to pay my bill online and I never received the statement that apparently contained the information I needed to recover my account. I phoned up to pay instead, not my preferred method of payment but at least I would be paid up.
Four months down the line I start receiving automated phone calls, supposedly from Marisota. I thought they were scams, but after weeks of calls I contacted Marisota to double-check, after all, I couldn't log onto my account to make sure everything was okay. After a further two weeks going back and forth they've allowed me access to my account, along with the announcement that I owe them over £80. It turns out they never took my payment and have been adding money to the amount I originally owed without advising me that my payment hadn't been taken.
Buying from Marisota has been an appalling experience, with poor quality products at unreasonable prices and malicious transaction processes to hike up your bill. Avoid at all costs.
I am so cross I have ordered a TV from them thinking that it would be next day delievery or at least 3-5 working days. I ordered on Tuesday and it still hasn't been dispatched. I phoned Marisota to ask them what was happening and they said it was now 7 working days. The guy was so rude! He said it would say on the email. It doesn't. He said it would say when I checked out. It doesnt. Nowhere in their terms and conditions or delivery policy anywhere does it say 7 working days. No the guy was right and I was wrong. So I asked if I could cancel my order and he said he would put me through to someone else and he kept me waiting for 6 mins before I hung up and phoned to complain. You feel that he did that on purpose and that when he gets the complaint or that someone will run across the office telling him that some silly cow has just phoned up to complain. I hadn't had any problems with Marisota before this and couldn't understand the bad reviews. Now I know and will never buy from them again ! From now on they can shove their extra thick catalogue up where the sun doesn't shine !
The majority of complaints are from people with a shocking credit score based in their credit limits. Everyone kniws invoices come every 28 days, obviously they have access to the internet so if for some reason they dont recieve the invoice they can view online and pay or ring yp and pay. If you dont leave it till the last minute paymebt slips can be sent off or you.can pay with a debit.card, bank transfer or giro slip. Ive got a minimum amount direct debit set up so payment is always sent and top this up with debit.card payments online to avoid excessive interest payments. Theres no excuse at all to miss a payment and get a £12 penalty fee because judging from the majority of people complaining having a bad credit rating with low credit limits their minimum payment every 28 days will be between £10-£20max so no excuse at all. I was brought up to always pay my bills and i have. In the rare occasion i need to use my credit ill make a plan to pay off the balance in 2-4-6 months and if i cant afford to i wont get it. With credit accounts being closed without notice the only time this happens in when a customer has already ripped off and owes money from another catalogue under the JDWilliams umbrella so find it comical that someone is complaing for being caught out, why would anywhere givw credit to someone whos.already stolen off them? That would be ludicrous. Im sorry to hear of the minority genuine complaints amd the only advice id give is corrispond in writing only so theres a hard undisputable copy of whats been said, with the majority of complaints concerning peoples dishonesty and blatant fraud maybe you should spend more time paying bills than come up with ridiculous reasons why you didnt. If you didnt get paid from your job 1 month youd be on it straight away so maybe if you dont get an invoice one month you should treat it the same.
When I had to return my cancelled order from Marisota they refused to cancel the bill for the Postage Costs which is against The Office Of Fair Trading's Distance Selling Regulations. The woman I spoke to called Dabrina was very rude and discourteous and refused to accept the company was not following English Law and didn't even know that the DSR's even existed.
I would not recommend this company and now refuse to shop there in the future.
I purchased a pair of wellies from them and was entitled to a discount of 10% as it was a first time purchase. The wellies came up big, so I exchanged them for a smaller pair. Marisota then refunded me the initial amount paid and issued a credit note for the full amount (no 10% discount this time round). After various wranglings with their customer service, which was appalling, I returned the wellies and asked for a full refund. The next thing I know they re-sent me the wellies, this time without a return postage label, so I rang them and told them that if they wanted the wellies they should arrange for them to be collected and left it on a cupboard in my porch. From that date, it took them over a week to engage a courier to collect and then failed to tell the courier where the item was, so he passed by my home several times whilst I was at work. I called the courier and explained where the wellies were and they were eventually collected. I went onto my Marisota account to check that the return had register only to see that they are trying to charge me £3 for a late return!!! It goes without saying that they have not notified me of this charge whether by phone or email.
Last September I had an outstanding balance on my account. I made a payment via the online service and thought no more about it, as the account was then clear. In November Marisota phoned to say my account was in arrears and I owed £75. However for a payment of £45.00 that day, they would waive the additional amount. I declined their offer as I didn't agree the amounts. I was told this was all the operator was authorised to do and could not sort out any further. I asked to speak to a senior member of the team but was told none were available. They agreed a person authorised in customer service would phone me back. No one phoned. I phoned a few times but gave up waiting for an operator. Today I tried again to speak to someone to sort out my account. I spent over two hours on the phone to Marisota, mainly on hold and being passed from one person to another. But nothing has been resolved. I have now been told to write in for someone to look at my account and i now owe £194. !! Just left feeling incredibly stressed and frustrated with the very poor customer service. They spoke over me, didn't listen to me and raised their voice .... Speaking to me as if i was a total idiot. Unbelievable. The lack of interest in helping a customer was astonishing and yes they were a UK based call centre!
I had ordered some jeans back in November, which turned out to be too big, and had to return them. Thought I had got free postage but when my bill came I noticed I had been charged so I contacted the customer service and spoke to a lovely girl called Julie, who immediately removed the charge, the interest and ensured I was not going to pay the late fee. Would most certainly use them again. A nice experience all round
The checkout process automatically forces you to sign up for a credit account, which I did not request. Therefore a credit check is done, I clearly passed this test as my limit was immediately £200. I paid immediately.
I had already added a sale item to my basket and I was forced through signing up as part of the checkout no option to buy as a guest. So they got me on their mail list and I will be bombarded with tons of crap catalogues no doubt.
The delivery via Hermes was swift can't fault it.
The item I purchased was very thin, knitwear? and smelt of manufacturing finish, so I removed the labels/tags as you do, and washed on lower degrees than instructed 30 degrees (in machine on its own) and having just extracted it from machine counted over 20 threads pulled. having cut the label off and washed the garment I am dismayed to find I will be charged a restocking fee for returning it without even wearing the item!!! .
I've logged back onto website to leave review of item or discuss via live chat but am unable to do either.
It's all rigged so everything looks good review wise review by invitation only!
I have removed my card details from my account profile and written to customer service to cancel my account and remove my details from their mail lists. They will answer me in 48 hours or I can call using a 10p a min phone line!
The item is NOT fit to clean the floor with absolute TAT.
Don't even bother using them waste of time and money buyer beware!!
I will be getting a full refund under the distance selling and sales of good act.
I PLACED AN ORDER WITH THIS COMPANY ( COMPANY IN INVERTED COMMAS!!!)
