Shopping experience great, delivery experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't fault the service and helpfulness of the staff in the shop when we came into buys our new kitchen appliances.

Badly let down by the the delivery guys, who were very gung-HO and just wanted to offload, as we were the last delivery, no respect for the furniture and left a deep gouge in the UPVC surround that goes around the fron door. They could and should have taken their time and been a lot more careful when bringing the goods into our house.

Would be 5 stars if the delivery had been different

Unusually poor service all round

I have used Marks Electrical on a number of occasions in the past, as has my family and they have usually been very good. I ordered 4 items coming to just over £600...all of which appeared to be good value and the salesman managed to match the price on other websites.

The problem started with the joint Baumatic Oven & ceramic hob pack that I ordered which was a very reasonable £300. Unfortunately on delivery when we opened the box the hob was nowhere to be seen. Not sure if it had been removed to be sold separately as it is offered for sale on the website. One phonecall later and the hob was on its way, a bit of extra hassle to be there on Saturday morning as I don't live at the property but no big deal.

As part of the new kitchen the hob was fitted then it came time for the oven, which when powered on made a large bang and a flash which tripped the distribution board. Two new switches later and a few fuses in the sockets the builder came to the conclusion it was the oven itself which was short circuiting after trying on a separate circuit to double check. This took up 2.5 hrs of my builders time and the cost of two new switches.

Now I called up fully expecting Marks Electrical to sort me out...no such luck. I was offered either a visit from a Baumatic engineer, a £150 refund or a replacement model if I made up the difference. Now the £150 valuation is what I have the issue with along with no flexibility on a replacement. As the item was no longer in stock a direct replacement was not an option. The oven and hob pack together were £300...they split the value at 50/50 when plainly an oven should cost more than a hob. I challenge anyone to find a comparable fan oven for £150! Obviously at £300 there was an element of discount but I feel valuing the oven at £180 and hob at £120 would have been more realistic. I could not return the hob and oven together as I offered to because the hob had already been installed and according to the T&C's on the ME website meant it was not returnable.

This left me in the position of a Baumatic engineer visit (bearing in mind my contract is with ME not Baumatic) which may cause further delay, hassle and labour time cost or paying extra for another oven. The only ones in stock from ME of the same brand and I believe similar spec was one at £250 and one at £200 which was slightly lower spec but I was prepared to accept just to call an end to it. I offered to split the difference of the extra £100 for the £250 model by paying £50 and the same with the £200 model paying £25 extra. Bearing in mind I feel the valuation has been skewed in ME favour and is undervalued and should be c. £180. Plus I am out of pocket from the builders time and 2 broken switches. This has never been acknowledged and the only discount I am offered is £5. Laughable really. So I cut my losses and ask for a refund and order elsewhere. Had to pay £65 extra elsewhere but had no choice and at least the item was in stock and of the spec I was after rather than the compromise product ME offered me.

So last thing to do is await the collection of the faulty oven, and wait around for 30 mins after the specified time slot when the champions league is on...I await my refund.

Fantastic service!

I have brought both a tall fridge and tall freezer from this company ( at different times ) and the service is second to none. Brilliant communication and delivered by friendly driver the next day at the stated time. Makes you wonder why other companies can't do it! If I need a appliance will always try to see if this company has what I need before going elsewhere really can't fault any aspect.

If only winning the lottery was this easy!!

Good selection of items and i found them to be unbeatable on price especially with the free delivery. The website would not let me choose next day delivery even though it stated available for next day but a quick call to a very helpful assistant and the fridge was ordered, paid for and on it's way. Text message came with time slot for delivery and it arrived on time. Have used 365 Electrical/Marks Electrical before and will definatly use again.
