It's a shame I can't give any lower than 1 star

Failed to spot and identify aspestos in a walk way to the side of my house. You almost trip over it when you walk pass it.
My surveyor was unsympathetic and gave me every excuse under the sun and told me to have is confirmed as aspestos which now has been. It would be better to just say he made a mistake, sorry, how can I help.
I have an 18 month child that I can't let out in the back garden because it could easily be tampered with.
What a shambles.

During the course of external work being carried out by an electrician, concern was expressed that some cloth lagging for an external pipe may contain asbestos and you requested that our surveyor phone you, which he did.

He has relayed that a professional conversation relating to this matter was conducted. Our surveyor advised you that should you have concerns you should instruct a specialist asbestos inspector to carry out an inspection to confirm whether there was any asbestos fibre content and the best course of action to be taken. Our surveyor also mentioned that whilst this small piece of cloth lagging was not specifically detailed in the report, the survey report did nevertheless draw to your attention to the likelihood of old, discarded and disused central heating equipment in this position, mainly in a dilapidated outbuilding, incorporating asbestos materials and as the equipment would have to be removed and disposed of, advice should be sought.

As prompt and efficient as I'd read in other reviews

We arranged a survey with MM for a private house purchase. Once we'd agreed the price with MM, everything else was trouble-free - they arranged the visit date directly with the seller, so no hassle for us.

I wasn't expecting to hear anything until I received the report, but had a call from the surveyor immediately after the visit - on a Saturday - to give me a verbal run-down of the survey results pending the delivery of the official report. This was great - 'above and beyond', so to speak - and meant we didn't spend the weekend wondering whether everything would be ok to proceed.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Helpful and cheerful company

Quick reply from my enquiry, very helpful on the phone, survey booked in a week and report emailed just over a week after survey carried out. Will use again very soon due to seller pulling out!

Didn't carry out the survey fully

Booked my survey with no problem at all, was very quick in coming back to me and carrying out the survey. But the surveyor said he couldn't gain access to all rooms in the house, even though he had keys so only half the survey carried out but still charged the full amount.

professional, good quick service

Very easy to arrange the survey online, professional and quick service, reasonable priced survey with all the information I needed. I chose this company after reading reviews online and I would be happy to recommend them.
I had a verbal report by phone after the survey and then by email soon after, which I printed out. Dealt with my questions both online and by phone very well.

Needed a survey quick. Was cheaper than locally based surveyors so was intially scepital. Ladies in the office very down to earth and professional, rather than snooty high brow over proffesional off putting staff.
I was able to meet the surveyor after his inspection for a 15min debrief. 1st class sensible advice back up in writing within 2 days. I'd have no hesitation to recommend the surveyor or the Miller metcalf, my survey was for a property in Blackpool.

We chose from a list on the computer and picked Miller Metcalfe Surveyors. They provided an immediate over the telephone condensed report on completion of the surveyor and followed this up with a full email report. The report was very detailed and left nothing to chance. I rang to speak to the surveyor about some queries I had and he was very helpful and explained things carefully and in a language I could understand. I would definitely use again.

We originally decided to purchase a house which we had surveyed through Miller Metcalfe (before instructing solicitors) so glad we did as they picked up several issues we were not aware of and so we decided to not go ahead, we didn't hesitate to use them a second times in a matter of weeks when we found another house, again some points were raised that we did not know about but have since had the vendors sort out those issues and the sale is now proceeding (again surveyed before solicitors instructed not sure if that's the norm but wouldn't do it any other way) would recommend them without hesitation.

Great surveyor but the full structural report missing some of the basics

Nick the surveyor made the experience a great one, shame he was let down by the back office staff when I queried the year the house was built, the value of the property and how much it would cost to rebuild it, all of which you need for insurance purposes. Michelle kindly informed me that these "technical" queries would cost me an additional £150!! A basic valuation tells you all of these things and yet the survey with all the bells and whistles and costs you the most only gives you the year the house was built.

If it wasn't for Nick who was very customer oriented they would have got 1 star. If Nick was the only one I dealt with after booking they would have got 5.

Great Service - Great Price

Miller Metcalfe Surveyors were helpful and prompt with their report and the price was right for me. I had to do everything via the internel because of my being abroad, but that didnt hinder their work at all, and I recieved my property survey via the internet too.
I would fully recommend Miller Metcalfe and have done so already, my friend has contacted them for her property survey too.

Sensible, fast survey at a good price

I was buying a flat in a block built only 8 years ago. I was in doubt whether it was worth getting a survey done especially since the flat is presumably still under NHBC warranty (not that that is worth much). I didn't want to spend £400 plus which is what I had been quoted elsewhere.

Miller Metcalfe could do the survey quicker and for a more reasonable price than the other surveyor I contacted. The survey seems very thorough and has given me all the information I need.

I would therefore recommend them. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that surveying a new-ish flat is possibly not that demanding - I couldn't say how well they would handle a bigger or older property.

I completed the information form online, and was contacted by Miller Metcalf straight away. The lady was very pleasant and explained the procedure. The survey was done in no time and I had a very good and comprehensive report sent to me via email. The price was very competative. Used this firm for our full survey and was very thorough and completed the report quickly. Unfortunately they were a bit slow respinding to some queries that I had after receiving the report but on the whole a very good report and good value for money.

Mistakes made and rude when challenged

I have previously used this firm and had no problem however this time this was not the case. The survey was completed on the day stated but I never received a call from the surveyor as promised, and as previously received, to summarize the survey.

I did receive a copy the report and I required clarification on 7 points so I tried to email the surveyor buy their address was not valid. I was advised to send my email into the office and I did receive a reply through one of the typists but it only partially answered half the questions and ignored the rest. When I emailed back again they reply was 'I have no further comment to make' and no further emails have been replied to.

There were some basic errors made such as omitting an outhouse (attached to the property) completely from the report when it is in fact causing an issue and stating that a patio door was very difficult to open - This was opened with ease when the bolt was undone!

Overall, I very annoyed with the attitude of the surveyor and have no confidence in the report I have received. To simply refuse to reply to questions is plain rude and certainly not good customer service.

This will be the last time I will use Miller Metcalfe.

Smooth, Slick and Very Professional

Very professional in their approach and very quick in conducting the survey and providing the report. The report was very comprehnsive and exactly what I needed for me to make an informed decision on my purchase.

Reliable and excellent value!

I found The Miller Metcalf team to be very professional and ever so inexpensive for a full structural survey; I was however somewhat disappointed that after asking for the surveyor to phone me with a brief report of his / her findings my request was seemingly ignored. I would however use Miller Metcalf again in this respect.
