I can only comment on the property surveying part of this company.
The homebuyers survey was very detailed and comprehensive. It was laid out so i could understand it. I opted to have photos of areas of concern and found these very useful. I was phoned after the survey to advise of completion and given the option to phone the surveyor with any questions.
This survey was first class. The price was £250. + £10 for the photos.
My estate agent had quoted £420. for the same survey.
I can thoroughly recommend this company. I received excellent, prompt and detailed advice, initially by phone call within 24 hours followed a few days later by a full written report. Very pleased with the quality of service and the value for money.
The price we were quoted was very competitive and never altered. The survey was carried out quickly and concisely and was reported back to us within the timescale which we were initially told.
I was able to speak to the surveyor over the phone to discuss issues raised during the survey, he was very helpful and explained everything well in understandable terms.
I would highly recommend using Miller Metcalfe to anyone.

Survey done @ 10 days after booking placed and a further week for the full report. I would have liked the survey done sooner but I am not sure what is the benchmark. However,the surveyor rang shortly after his inspection to advise me on the main issues to enable us to progress with the purchase ahead of the report being issued.

We are now going to address all the problems and approach the vendors with a reduced offer . doubly paying for the survey.If they don't agree we are not going to take on the property with the problems identified.
This was probably the best £275 I have ever spent. Problems were highlighted on the report which made me review the house purchase and I believe will have saved me a whole lot of trouble and thousands of pounds in the long run -- THANK YOU
Found recurrence of minor woodworm infestation. Quick efficient and not expensive.
I don't think I would use Miller Metcalfe again. On the positive side I was generally happy with the contents of the structural survey although the valuation of the property after seeking further local advice was suspect. The administration left a lot to be desired - the details in the confirmation email were incorrect and three requests for a receipt were ignored. When the report was received the valuation was missing and three calls to the office resulted in the wrong property being discussed with me.
The survey itself was presented clearly and concisely but I lost some confidence in its accuracy when I dealt with the office staff.
We were very pleased with the service we received from the surveyor. He rang us first to explain his findings then sent an email. My husband rang the surveyor with a couple of queries and he explained everything in detail. Would definitely recommend Miller Metcalfe
Having dealt with and subsequently been disappointed with other local home related services, we were pleasantly surprised at the professionalism afforded to us from all the staff at Miller Metcalfe Surveyors.
On two separate occasions, whereby after giving Miller Metcalfe instructions to carry out Home Buyer's Reports on two different homes, we were gazumped. Miller Metcalfe simply assured us that they would wait until further instructions and not to worry about any inconvenience caused. A refreshingly positive response from an excellent company!
Access was arranged promptly and i received a verbal report from the surveyor once it had been done which was very helpful
The service provided by this company we found to be very efficient and cost competitive. My telephone contact was dealt with in a friendly and detailed way and I was left with a feeling of confidence that matters were being dealt with in a professional manner. They undertook the survey in a time period less than they led us to expect so that was a pleasant surprise. The report we had was a HomeBuyers so even though not in as great a detail than a full survey was nevertheless sufficient to allow us to proceed with the purchase. The surveyors comments were very helpful and he followed up his report with an email, which we appreciated.
Was let down by another company after a 35 mile round trip. Used Miller/Metcalfe from finding them on the internet. Set up the survey which was carried out quickly and at a competitive price. Did not have to leave my home to set it up. Just the service I wanted. Many thanks.
Had a full building survey, it was very thorough and the surveyor was happy to talk through the issues. Also had a few follow up queries eeks later, which again were addressed quickly. Only doesn't get 5 stars because MM promise a verbal update within 24 hours, but I didn't get one. When I spoke to the surveyor he said that he hadn't been told of this requirement

We had the full buildings survey completed on a Victorian Villa in need of some attention. The very detailed report enabled us to get a realistic idea as to the costs of renovation and adjust our offer accordingly. With the report as a bargaining tool, we successfully negotiated a better deal. The report has also provided us with a ready made plan of action.
The whole association was excellent, from finding them on their website, obtaining a quotation, eventually instructing (after delays with the purchase procedure), arranging with the vendor to gain entry for the surveyor to, most importantly, the Surveyor's Report Itself. This was most comprehensive, throwing up up points which were important to be aware of and giving recommendations. Subsequent discussions with the surveyor himself were precise, positive and helpful. Would undoubtedly use them again.
This was the first time I had used Miller Metcalfe and came across them by searching on Google. I was very impressed with the service I received. I rang them on a Wednesday afternoon to enquire about a home buyers survey for an investment property. Within a few minutes it was arranged and paid for. I was sent an e mail to confirm the booking that evening with the name of the surveyor. They also arranged the survey for the next day and that the surveyor would ring me to give me a summary. True to their word the surveyor rang me the next day, he was very helpful and gave me some great advice. I would definitely use them again, not only did they deliver excellent service but they were £200 cheaper than another company we had just used!

2 surveys for me, and I found both documents extremely helpful and thorough. The staff and the surveyor were lovely to deal with - courteous and helpful at all times.
This made the whole house buying process much easier and less stressful.
The survey was carried out and I received a phone call the same day giving me a verbal update of the surveyors findings which helped me to make a decision on the purchase of the property without waiting for the written report which was sent to me a couple of days later.

The property we are buying is mid 19th century so the Home Buyers Report was regarded as essential to support the range of any necessary further enquiries arising from the surveyor's comments. After the survey was carried out, the surveyor called to brief me on his findings and then sent the report my email. It was used by me and my solicitor for subsequent enquiries - one of which was a recommendation to obtain an Electrical Condition Report. That resulted in the system being declared unsafe for which a price reduction was agreed to by the vendors. The report also highlighted other concerns that probably only an experienced and qualified chartered surveyor would observe. These were invaluable to me during and after the purchase.
This is the the 3rd property survey I have had.

The appointment to carry out the survey was arranged quickly. The surveyor was thorough and produced a very comprehensive report which was sent to me by email within a couple of days of the survey being completed.
I particularly liked the personal contact when the surveyor called me to discuss any issues I may have with the report.
A very efficient operation and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
There were some concerns with the property. When I phoned the surveyor Robert Pearson to explain things to me further and in simpler terms (I'm not a builder) he took the time to explain things to me fully and in detail and gave me extra advice I needed.
The quote was quite good and service reasonable however because it is such a large company you never get to deal with the same person twice. I was given incorrect information on more than one occasion in particular about the billing arrangements.
I also wanted a second survey done as the first house purchase fell through the day after the survey was completed but was not offered any discount so went elsewhere for a much better price and more personal service. I wouldn't use miller Metcalfe again for that reason.
Very good and very helpful pointers before buying
The problem I've had is the fact that a number of windows have been found as being faulty and don't seal the house as you would expect. When raising the query, I'm a bit put a back I have to wait 14 days for a response. That's far too long.
It is really helpful to have verbal feedback on the survey within 24 hours. As well as getting information quickly in order to make decisions about purchase and price, it is also very useful to have an actual conversation with the surveyor.
