OK, I do not live in a service area, so I have not had a chance to see if this Classic phone works as advertised. What I DO know is that there are several "hidden" charges that they do NOT advertise that you find out about AFTER you order the phone. Things like texts are not really 80 cents, but rather each small chunk of a text is 80 cents. And they charge to activate and deactivate an answering service. And they charge to activate and deactivate texting to an email address, etc. Well, at least I can get $10 credit (I HOPE) by taking the time to do this review. Hope the service is better than the advertising.
1) The ordering process was great. Website clearly explains all options. 2) Phone arrived in less time than quoted. Easy to follow instructions to activate. 3) Phone set-up instructions were also clear and no problem to follow. 4) Costs are clearly laid out. No guess work. I would recommend this product and service to anyone.
The phone arrived quickly. I received a text [ free incoming] and sent a reply right away. The charge on the text sent took about two weeks to appear on my account. [ Billed from the US phone company sent to Mobal in England]. Exactly what Mobal said the charge would be, no extras. Had questions using both the telephone support Mobal and e-mail and was very satisfied with solutions and quick response. I have not used the phone yet out of the country.
our new phone arrived 2 days after ordering it. When I called the customer service number for help on how to open the back of the phone, a man with a smile in his voice answered immediately and walked me through the process. I highly recommend this company!
Mobal's customer service is unusually good. My phone arrived on time, but it didn't recognize the SIM card. I called Mobal and we did troubleshooting, but it still didn't work. Solution: Since they couldn't tell whether it was the phone or the SIM card that was defective, they a sent new phone and SIM card, and told me to keep the previous phone as an extra. The new ones arrived very quickly and they work just fine.
I just got my international cell from Mobal, and I can't get over how simple it was to set up......the directions for use are also very easy to follow. I had to call the support line to get a few questions answered and they couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you, Mobal.com for easing my mind about that aspect of my European trip! Highly recommended.......FIVE STARS!
I got my phone today and it made me more excited for my trip! Purchasing and set-up was a piece of cake. directions were easy to follow. When I called about my phone to order, the woman I talked to was so nice and helpful. The shipping was quick as well. The price was great! I love the little travel bag I got with the phone too.
Received phone package today. Easy set up. Called tech support to verify a couple of things. My call was answered quickly and all questions were answered. Look forward to travelling with the peace of mind that I'll be able to connect with home.
The process of ordering and setting up my Mobal phone has been very smooth, and I am very satisfied. I will be using the phone for work travel, and feel confident it will meet my needs as I travel to several different countries this year.
I have been using Mobal phones for several years now during my overseas trips each month from the USA. The service to rent/buy and receive the phones has been flawless! The phones operate as promised, and the billing process is simple and efficient.
travel out of the US about once a quarter. In the past, I had to take my G4 smart phone into Verizon, deactivate the phone and bring an old blackberry G3 up with a sim card. Decided to try something different this time. My adm asst found the Mobal site and went through the countries the phone could reach. Deciding upon the Deluxe phone and a simple order. The phone arrived in a snap! Plus power adapters and everything you would ever expect. I was too anxious after charging overnight and messed up the initial set up. Now, after working on it for a bit of time, the most critical functions are as they should be. One thing that's hard to get used to is the buttons rather than a touch screen. Since I will only be using the phone while out of the country and only when absolutely necessary, I'll get accustomed to the phone mechanics. Bottom line, I would suggest this company and system to everyone. After the next trip to Asia, I'll see if I want to upgrade before going to the EU in May.
I have two Mobal phones. The first was in 2012 for a trip to the UK. It saved me on several occasions. My US cell phone does not work overseas, and Mobal is a more efficient solution than upgrading to a different phone or plan that I would not need most of the time. My new Mobal phone is the Deluxe and works in many more countries than my first one. We will be in Central and South America so I needed this version. Having this tool is peace of mind in case of an emergency, and gives family members back home an easy way to contact me if necessary. (I tell them it is NOT for casual chats!) The instructions are lengthy but easy to understand, and being able to make test calls to Mobal HQ in NYC for free helps insure it is set up correctly. I recommend this product wholeheartedly!
This is our second Mobal phone and your service is, and always has been outstanding, and goes beyond expectation. We will be taking our Mobal cellphone back to Tortuguero Costa Rica, to keep in touch while on photo safari exploring the remote rainforest jungle canals of Costa Rica. Thank you Mobal for keeping us in touch with friends, family,and "outside world", while "roughing it". We are a customer for life.
Mobal is the ONLY way to go when traveling abroad. After using Mobal the first time in Iceland, I was so impressed I told everyone about it, many who had never heard of the company before. I used Mobal yet again in Germany and again, excellent! The quality is crystal clear and the rates are very reasonable in my opinion. Plus, you are not worried about roaming charges, did you leave the internet open only to come home to a whopping bill. This last trip I had misplaced my original Mobal phone and ordered a new one. The customer service representative was first class, very professional, full of information and made the transaction a snap! Not only was every word the representative relayed factual, the phone was delivered within a day and a half and to my surprise they included a FREE travel adapter kit! The funny part about that was it worked BETTER than the one I had just purchased from Amazon! In summary, Mobal I believe is a well kept secret that maybe many people don't know about and should! I will never use my regular cell carrier or any other company when traveling abroad, EVER. Many compliments and continued success to a first rate company!
Althought I travel overseas only occassionally for pleasure, I appreciate the excellent ongoing service I have received over the past 8 years. Maintaining the same number for all these years helps my friends overseas in economically keep in touch. Keep up the good work.
I got a Mobal phone a few years ago and always use it when I travel; more recently, with my husband and daughter doing more international travel, we got a second phone for our family. It's the only phone I use for overseas--it works everywhere, and we never need anything else. I had some questions recently, right before a flight, and was so pleased to get quick service on the phone--I needed to check to be sure I had a current credit card on file and actually the card on file for the phone had just expired. They bill your credit card when you use the phone, but you don't pay a monthly fee, only when you use the phone. It's been very cost-effective for us, helpful customer service staff, and a phone that works, everywhere. The phone I have works even in South Korea and India, not just Europe, but everywhere I travel, and pretty much anywhere in the world. You do have to check when you buy the phone to pick the one that best serves your travel needs, for example, not every phone will work in S. Korea, but Mobal has phones that do, and my new Mobal works in South Korea as well as everywhere else I travel; the first one worked fine in Europe and India in a remote area. With the 2nd phone, I was planning the trip to S. Korea and especially wanted the type of phone that would work there in addition to other countries. But it's easy to check the webpage to choose the right phone--and all their phones cover the majority of countries where you would be traveling, just that a few of their phones meet special needs for those traveling to more remote places.
