After reading all the negative reviews and a few of the 'super positive ones', most probably written by some Indian companies for a few pence, I nevertheless decided to purchase a phone from this company. I did that to save money. At the end, I did not save any money and instead lost valuable time.
I ordered a Galaxy Note 2 - 'In stock' last Friday (today is Wednesday) and for 5 days the order status was 'Pending - Network Credit Check Decision'. I complained about this twice (they have a facebook page where you can ask them about your order) and today I received an email saying: Your order has been declined by the network. We unfortunately have no control over this decision and have cancelled your order. We apologise for this inconvenience.
So guys, a cheap deal ended up being no deal, just a waste of time.

anyway so i tried to call-waiting time 11 min no answer. that's so official

I ordered a phone over two weeks ago. There was no sign of it in spite of the promised 'next day delivery' and it just said 'pending' on the website. I waited 30 mins on the phone to speak to someone and when I did they said it would 'definitely come tomorrow'. I asked to speak to a manager and they said there were no managers working that day. They advised me to email, so I did and got no response.
I waited for the phone and checked the website which was now saying 'out of stock'. I got no emails or phone calls from them at all and then I finally got an email saying my order had been cancelled with no explanation, more than 2 weeks after I ordered it.
I have now ordered my phone from Tesco who offered a better deal, were really friendly and knowledgeable, kept me informed and delivered quickly.
Avoid Mobile Phones Direct!
Waiting three weeks for my phone, came damaged., sent it back, never got sent a replacement as promised! spent over 2 hours on hold while they "track" my delivery. Staff dont seem to know what they are doing, very unorganised, and they complaint about working long hours to their clients, nice!
ended up cancelling the order, hopefully they are competent enough to cancel it properly, because they cant handle new orders properly, and i definetly DONT want to be on hold for another hour to chase for my refund!

on the website it said the Nokia Ashe was available for delivery in 10 days.
10 working days later, the online tracker still shows 'Pending - Out of Stock'
And they are still advertising this model as available for either 6 or 7 days delivery.
Is is legal to sell something you do not have? Had I known it would be two weeks on and I would still be without a phone (and who knows whether one will ever appear), I would have got one elsewhere. There wasn't even an email to tip me off to the delay.
Customer service impossible to get on the phone. Was even told by a recording at 1710 that they were sorry they had closed, and then went on to tell me opening hours were 0900-1730. Have (unsurprisingly) had no reply to my email enquiry.
I will be lodging a complaint with Trading Standards. They should not be able to get away with misleading marketing - it's verging on sharp practice.
I had my reservations ordering from this company purely because the prices looked too good to be true. I pre-ordered the new Samsung Galaxy S4 which went on sale in the UK Sat 27th April. There were widely reported problems with stock across all carriers and I was immediately notified by mobilephonesdirect that this would impact my order but they would get out the phone as soon as they could. They provided further updates in the following week and despite delays my phone was dispatched as soon as stock was delivered on Friday 3rd May - just 6 days after UK launch. I'm very pleased with the service and delighted with the price - I would recommend to anyone and will use again.
Don't expect cashback from Quidco, I bought my new mobile via their Quidco link, they refused to pay and now say they have paid the the commission to another company, so although their service is OK, they are NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY.
DON'T EXPECT THEM TO HONOR THEIR LINK
Like others, after reading some reviews I used mobilephonesdirect with trepidation.
I wanted the new Xperia Z. £36 to get the free handset anywhere else - £26 here. Not available through my network.
I first rang to ask when I could expect delivery of the newly released handset if I bought one, the guy I spoke to was great and the phone answered quickly, even if I had been on hold for 15mins would that really be very different from ANY other call centre.
So I pre-ordered the handset, free on T-Mobile for £26 a month. Immediately got confirmation emails. Closer to the handsets release date I received an email advising when I should hope to get delivery. Unfortunately the following day I received another email saying it would be delayed until the following day - but then it would be on a before 10am delivery (again ANY other company can and do have delays and I did get an email it wasn't just ignored).
My handest arrived before 10 just as expected!
So to sum up, I received:-
1- An amazing deal on a brand new flagship phone as soon as it had been released. £240 saving over 24mths against Carphone Warehouse and I got a much better network package to boot :-)
2- Great customer service over phone and via email. Although I didn't have to wait in a phone queue, remember it's perfectly normal if you have to! Your call is answered in the UK after all!(*) (*assumption)
If you want a good deal give them a go. OK they may not have the infrastructure of CPW of P4U but does that matter. If you are getting a superb deal then accept this, be patient if you have to, so what!
Oh and by the way, out of interest, you've searched reviews for mobilephonesdirect because you haven't really heard of them; You were concerned by the 2.5 stars yeh; You didn't check reviews for carphonewarehouse did you? Between 1.5 and 2 stars and you wouldn't have even questioned using them would you! Need I say more.
I found mobile phones direct through a price comparison website, deals on Samsung Galaxy S3 looked too good to be true, but they weren't!!!
Very easy to deal with, and even helped me transfer my number across. Phone arrived next day, just as they said it would.
Great service, great prices. Highly recommend to anyone!
Long story short. Cancelled within 3 days of receiving HTC / T-Mobile phone. 10 phone calls, 3 letters, 5 emails later I'm still being hammered daily by debt collection for money i do not owe to T-Mobile. MPD confirmed they got the returned phone back over 2 months ago. Sick of businesses treating customers like cattle!
