I found music magpie easy way to get rid of my c\ds and dvds that I no longer play . there free courier service is excellent . and it no problem getting cash . so if your like me and you want to make space then make a bit of money.
The whole process took 1 month till I got paid into my bank account. 2 and a half weeks for them to 'check' the DVDs and pay me. I can't understand why it would take so long
Fairly easy to use, most of my CDs were on their database. Only pocket money prices given though, fine if like me you have a lot of CDs/DVDs to offload. If you're after very good prices for what you're offering, forget it. I've used both the courier and drop-off service, and both worked fine, cash was in my bank account 5-7 working days later.
I have never been able to get my webcam to work as barcode reader so I tap in manually.
I like the clear list it creates.
Some CD's I understand wont be on list but there are surprises about which are and which aren't.
As again I am surprised about older rarer cd's being worth 20p when other cd's i hated are worth £2.
Its easy to take the box to my locl petrol station to send and I love that it is free.
Free postage means its slow and normally takes 7 days before MM receive it.
Then the process is slow between arrival and money in bank, probably 20 days.
I'm happy it is reliable but whole process takes about 1 month.
Whilst I have received payment via bank account for transactions without any fuss, I was very surprised that you are more than twice as long in acknowledging, processing and paying out than Webuydvds. It was a really lengthy process and I whilst I would recommend you to people who could afford to wait longer, as you pay slightly higher amounts overall (not always), if they want their money quicker and are prepared to forgo a few quid, I would recommend they use Webuydvd who's two cheques were with me before you had even finished processing my first order and they were collected only 1 day before yours.. so 3 stars from me. Room for improvement in your processing times.
It's good to be able to get some guaranteed cash for you items, but the fact mine averages 22p per dvd when they cost me between £6 and £19 is a bit of a joke. But, we live, we learn. I still get more for them on ebay but music magpie was just easier.
I sold 50+ DVD's that were just gathering dust on my shelf. The prices you get for them nowadays as quite poor, on average it's about 25p per DVD, but that's just a sign of the times, all the ones I sold I've watched a dozen times and have since swapped them to digital format, so I've no need for the space-stealing physical copies anymore. I used the iPhone app to scan ad complete my order which was excellent, it uses the phones camera to scan the barcodes and add each item to your order. You then print off the free post labels, box them up and send them. This was also useful, as you don't have to work around Post Office opening hours, I took mine to a local Spar shop that is open 24/7, very convenient. I think it took 3 weeks from scanning the items initially to having the money in the bank, but I didn't exactly rush. I'd certainly recommend Music Magpie as it does offer a very useful service. The only reason I've opted for a 4 star rating is the following. There's a clause in the terms & conditions that means that if an item arrives at MM and doesn't work or isn't complete or whatever, they won't pay you for it, which is completely understandable, but they'll also keep the item and not return it. I don't like this condition to be honest is it does mean you have to rely on complete honesty on MM's part. Not that I'm suggesting they'd act in such a way, but there's nothing stopping them claiming that a DVD didn't work when the tested it, as keeping it without paying, even though you know for certain it works fine. This seems a little weird, I can understand they don't want start returning faulty or defective items, and it is up to us to ensure they work and are as described, but I think at least an option for them to return them to us at our expense should be offered. So you do use it at your own risk, but other than that I would use them again and will recommend them to friends and family.
A great online service , an easy way to get rid of unwanted goods . Clear and precise website which is very easy to navigate. No hidden conditions which makes the whole experience straightforward. would definitely recommend and use this service again.
I used this for old CDs and DVDs and was very happy with the service. I didn't get much for each CD/ DVD but had so many it soon rattled up a nice total and this was far easier than having to faff with other selling websites. Overall I can't complain and as there were more than 25 items, Music Magpie sent a courier service to collect them so I didn't even have to sort out posting them on.
This is the first time I have used Music Magpie and although I think the process is made easy I think the the time it takes to receive payment for your goods is too long. However I would recommend the service if you are keen to sell your stuff and you don't mind waiting for the money to be paid to you.
I've used Music Magpie three times (as we continuously realize we have WAY too many DVD's). Each time we've gotten the full amount promised and it couldn't have been easier. We made sure that every CD and DVD was in a clean/unbroken case - even if that meant switching cases with something they weren't going to buy. I got an e-mail from them for each step of their process (to the point it was almost annoying but I'm not going to complain about communication!). Checks arrived a couple of days after getting an e-mail they were in the mail. We have another collection pile in the corner from friends and family that just give us their stuff because they think the process will be too complicated - couldn't be further from the truth!
Could not get the bar code scanner to work so was a bit of a pain to enter each one. Quick service though. Courier came in a few days and money was in my bank account about a week later. Plus I've freed up a big space in the spare room!!
I didn't know what to expect and thought it might be hard work but it wasn't at all! I just keyed in the barcode and was told instantly if the item was wanted or not and, if it was, how much. The posting instructions were great -even down to being advised what to put in each parcel - and the labels were ready to print. Collection was easy to arrange and Magpie kept me fully informed at every step, when they received the parcel, when it had been quality checked, etc. Payment was prompt and I received exactly what was quoted! All in all a great and simple way to declutter!
Very straightforward procedure, the courier came and picked up the package. I was out at the time, so they took it from my porch where I had left it. You receive emails updating you at every stage of the process, which is great. It took a couple of weeks for the money to go in my account, but they gave me the exact amount I was quoted. Very happy with the service, and will definitely use again.
Sent in 12 items of clothing and was expecting almost £20 for them. This in itself is pretty poor but better than giving them away. A lengthy process ensued before £8.53 landed in my bank. Not once was I informed this would be the case via the many emails I received. Logging in to my account I found the reasons behind Music Magpie's decision. The best one was a Superdry t-shirt that was 'suspected counterfeit'. I found that pretty disgraceful as I have never bought counterfeit goods and it had been purchased from Ark clothing, a very reputable company. Hollister And All Saints polo shirts and Zara trousers that had rarely been worn were deemed to have 'marks' or 'stains' on them. Utterly ridiculous. I suspected this whole system would be a shambles and have been proved correct. Don't use for clothes, waste of time and effort.
I liked the update emails. Everything ran smoothly and I got paid after a few weeks.
A pleasure to deal with. Magpie communicate throughout your dealings so you're constantly kept up to date with the stage your deal is at, e.g. goods received, goods checked, monies paid.
I would definitely recommend to anyone who has goods they wish to dispose of in an ecological manner, but with the bonus of gaining a small reward.
They offered me a price for a ps2 and a ps2 slim .They took ages to asses quality and then they lied saying the items were faulty. They made up lies and faults which are not true e.g disk tray was not opening. I know they were not faulty because I checked them before sending them e.g disk tray opened. I would strongly advise to stay away from companies like music magpie because once they have your items they lie and say they are broken. Then they expect you to pay to get your items back. Also not paying me for my cds and recycling them without permission
This was my first time using Music Magpie and I def will not be using them again. I sent in my iphone 3 which had a few scratches on the back but worked fine and charged no problem as I had been using the phone up until I sent it off. Music Magpie decided it had three or more faults although it took me 2 weeks to actually get a reply explaining what the faults were saying the item was too scratched and the on/off button broken. They are unable to provide me of any evidence of this and I have to pay £15 to get the phone back!!! Even if there were scratches I assumed it would fit into their "poor" category but apparently not!! I have sent phones off to companies before and had no problem. I really regret not reading the reviews on MM before as it is clear I am not the only person that has had this problem! Disgusting that the company is allowed to get away with this!!
This was my first time using Music Magpie...it was a very good experiemce....the service was excellent and they delivered all that they said they would. It was a very
easy process and I think a very fair way of dealing.....after all the items I sold to them would have only been given away or discarded...now I have a little more cash to purchase something else I might want. I shall certainly be using them again now that I have found them!!
We had a large number of clssical cd's that my uncle had collected and when he died they were of no interest to us. He was a classical fanatic and had others at his home that were the same oiece but by different orchestras and conductors. these were the ones he left when he came over to UK. Not only that i like jazz and tango.
I sold my DVDs on here, easy and quick to enter all the details. Instructions on packaging them correctly emailed to me. I was notified when a courier would collect them but I didn't need to be in. My payment was received within a week with email updates at each stage. Would definitely use this site again.
