The payment of£45 for my goods has still not reached my bank account even though I was told it had been transfered a week ago. What is going on? I am not happy
I found it very easy to use . The delivery instructions/labels and collection points made postage simple and free. Took a little while to receive the cheque, but was kept informed of every stage of the process and I got the whole amount they had quoted.
Prices were not great but the system worked exactly as it said it would. Took a little time to get the cash but it all turned up with remarkably few problems
The Magpie website was very easy to use. I chose not to download the barcode scanner which was probably the wrong choice for speed.
E.mail updates were frequent during the process and kept you well informed.
If I had one small improvement it would be that the monies were transferred a bit more quickly, or manage expectations by extending teh time when it is due to hit your bank.
That said, I got the total amount submitted in full. 9 out of 10 for service!
What a brilliant company to deal with. They gave very generous prices for my DVD's and CD's. The whole process was so quick and simple and the money was in my bank very swiftly. Cannot recommend highly enough!
From the first moment of joining, I found the whole process easy to understand and follow. I was surprised how quick the details from the bar codes came back on the screen. Modern technology. The printing off of the items and parcel labels was very helpful. The follow up emails were very responsive. Could not fault the process at all.
I found Music Magpie is easy to use, the online guidance is particularly helpful. I used the service to sell unwanted CDs. I don't have a phone that scans barcodes so typing in codes can be a bit tiresome. Magpie doesn't seem to take compilations, it sometimes doesn't like a title and I have a few examples where the barcodes aren't recognised. The collection service is very efficient and communication as items are being assessed is comprehensive. I will continue to use Music Magpie and have no hesitation in recommending the service to friends.
took me ages to enter all my bar codes and then there was a difference between the cheque total and the list total spoke to a customer advisor who although polite could not sort problem so I had to input every thing again. A cheque was meant
to have been issued 7 march still not received . Rang customer services hanging on for 10 minutes to be told they would have to check with bank to make sure not cashed and could take up to 7 days to issue a new one . Wouldn't recommend unless you are desperate for money as the amounts paid are pathetic
When the goods were given to the delivery man I didn't realize it would take 3 days for music magpie to receive the goods. Also processing Items taking 2 weeks seriously! And a further 3 days to send me the money. Unsatisfactory to me.
I decided to trial MusicMagpie after reading encouraging reports on money-related websites. The website is pretty well laid out. Registration was painless and it was very easy to enter bank details to receive BACS payments. Somehow I couldn't get the 'scan barcodes with your webcam' option to work so I had to enter all my CD barcodes by hand, but this was really the only major downside. Once I had submitted my order, I received an emailed pack with all the information I needed to send off my parce.
The verification process (once MusicMagpie had received my parcel) took about as long as advertised/expected (just over a week). No problems with payment although it would be nice to be paid Faster Payments..
All in all a pretty good service, at least for CDs - have not tried anything like selling a mobile phone so I can't rate their prices in that respect.
This was my first transaction with Music Magpie, and I can happily report that it went smoothly with no problems at all. Entered all my barcodes online (164 DVDs/CDs/BDs in total!!!) and chose to drop off at a collect+ centre. I was immediately emailed a list of instructions and packing labels. I packed everything up, dropped it off at my local collect+ (a Co-op supermarket), received an email of receipt from Music Magpie 3 days later, and had the money in my bank (the full amount as promised) a week after that.
My only problem was that when entering my barcodes, the Music Magpie site didn't register a few of them: for instance I would enter the barcode of a DVD, and it would come back with "sorry, that is a CD single, please try an album instead". I tried several times, so it wasn't me mis-typing.
Would definitely use again.
Overall a very good service, hassle free as we had fee collection due to the number of CDs. However, not as much as i had hoped for for the CDs, averaged around 20p per CD, also some of which weren't recognised by the ISBN number.
It was very quick and easy to sell my unwanted DVDs on Music Magpie, its a great way to get some extra cash for things you don't use anymore! :)
Super, Smashing, Great :-) Easy website to use, Barcode ID works Great and let you know right away how much your item is worth, But if the Magpie does not like it .... Well he Say's it Sooooooo Well :-)
Go On Give it a GO it's all Good
I was advised at every step of the process by the email notifications. Very efficient service and I was very pleased by the service I received.
I FOUND MUSIC MAGPIE SERVICE FROM START TO FINNISH TO BE BOTH HASSLE FREE AND TOP CLASS.EVERYTHINK WENT WITHOUT A PROBLEM.
AND WOULD CERCTAINLY USE THEM AGAIN
MANY THANKS MUSIC MAGPIE
Amazing to get money for my old stuff that was just hanging around in the spare room. Really easy to do. Kept informed all the way through. Would certainly use again.
The whole experience is very slick, however I feel the "confirm your bank details before we send you your money" email is a trick which nets music magpie a lot of money to hold on to by emails which aren't responded to. I for one never received this email and only knew I had to confirm by visiting and logging into my account.
Music taste changes, so why not have a clear out, and earn some money to update music taste or dvd's. kept well posted with the process of my order from Magpie from start to finish! very good!
Im very pleased with the quick service will use again soon very pleased.
should pay more, and speed up admin part of service once package is sent
The service is as easy as can be, with absolutely no hassle for the seller. If you want to get rid of goods easily and quickly then this is the best way. The prices offered for the goods are low - you could get more by selling individually online, but then you start to incur sellers fees, have to get down to the post office, sort out postage etc. Also if your CDs are a bit unloved and not in mint condition, as long as they play fine Music Magpie will take them unlike some online personal buyers. If getting rid of stuff in the easiest possible way is your priority, you can't beat this service.
I had reservations when I realised Music Magpie advertised on television but their website is informative with clear instructions on how to proceed, they are reliable in keeping you up to date on the process and progress of your items and the payment arrived promptly.
The service itself was fine overall, however it seemed to take ages. In fact from pickup to clearance of paid funds it took nearly a month!
From what I've read online, there are better paying and faster companies around. So do your homework first, especially if getting the money soon is important to you!
I really like the idea of this, however once shipped it took over two weeks to get any money from them, bit of a poor service from that respect!
i have used the site a few times n always got gr8 prices 4 my things i will cintinue 2 use the site as i am very happy with how they get things done so well
Music Magpie is very quick and easy to use. Sent items twice now and will use again.
It took about 21 days from starting process to completing it. It all worked very well, I dropped off at a shop and received regular emails telling me what was going on. A few went to spam so I missed the bank details verification one until the reminder arrive in my inbox.
Overall fine but a little slow, maybe we expect things to quickly nowadays!
Easy to sort out. Slowish to pay, but not a problem. I guess they have to check all the discs.
I sold about 45 or so DVD's using Music Magpie and whilst I didn't get much for each individual DVD (roughly 38pence each) It was much easier then organising a carboot or trying to sell them on ebay.
I used the courier pick up and found it really easy as they came to my house to pick the box up. Once they had it it did take over a week for them to process my DVD's and so the process took nearly a month to complete but still worth doing.
I thought it took a long time to receive the payment in my bank
Good service - smooth and reliable - just wish they'd be a little more generous woth the prices - selling a classic dvd which cost £25 for 50p is a bit gutting.
From booking collection to into my bank was 3 weeks , to many emails should be a simple quick process . Was simple but far from quick wouldn't do it again sorry
Good experience.
Two disappointments. One being not being given the chance to confirm bank details in one email from you. Then receiving another email telling me that I haven't confirmed my bank details. Slow payment was the other disappintment.
I found using music magpie really easy. While i didnt get lots for the items sent (£16 for 15 items) it was easier than selling them at a car boot sale which probably would gotten the same price. The free postal service was convenient and meant i didnt have to mess around with sending it myself. This, however was where the process is a touch drawn out. I was impressed on how music magpie keeps their customers up to date and the full amount was paid within the time the final email promised.
Everything worked fine, but took a long time. I posted my stuff a few weeks ago, it was over a week before they acknowledged that it had arrived. There were regular emails to update the status, which was good, but everything took a long time. It took a week to check my stuff, then another 2 days until they were 'processing' the cheque. Then another day to print it, and then another day to send it. I think it was almost a month between me dropping my stuff off and receiving the cheque.
It would also be nice to offer direct bank transfer/paypal/amazon gift card of the payment, cheques are inconvenient for me.
I had already used the Magpie service previously and had not gotten around to sorting out my other unwanted cds and dvds. I rounded them all up, entered all the details in online, packaged them all up, waited for the courier...waited a few more days and finally received my payment. It was as easy as that!
I believe the app could be worked on to help scan clothes etc but apart from that music magpie is easy to use, quick to respond and fair with pricing
