Excellent easy to use service, MusicMagpie paid up exactly as promised!

So far I've sent 13 separate boxes of CDs and DVDs to Music Magpie and I have received the offer price exactly for all 13. MusicMagpie is really easy to use, particularly with the iPhone App, and very convenient - my nearest drop off is just down the road. Sure, they don't offer a huge amount for each item, but that's what you should expect when using a service like this - accept that and you won't have any regrets. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to unload their CD collection or old DVDs.

helpful if you need a little extra cash

The service was good. I did expect a Little more money especially for DVD boxsets. The money was a little slow to arrive in my account also. The pick up service was excellent, it saved alot oh hassle.

A refreshingly simple way to declutter the cd & dvd shelves!

The app made it really simple to scan and register each cd & dvd and it was great to see the total adding up as I went along. The courier collected the next day and I could then monitor everything online. It would be nice if the funds could arrive a little quicker but I can appreciate there's a process involved in checking all of the items and I used the live chat facility on the website to get a progress update. Thanks for a great service.

Magpie and Cash. Delicious.

Sitting at home and that Music Magpie ad came on the TV. Can I be bothered? Probably takes ages, can it be that simple? Ha, guess what my friend, it is a lot easier than I ever imagined. Clutter gone, dust too and I have money in the Bank.

Easy to use but slow paying up!

Very simple to use, particularly with a phone app to speed up scanning CDs.
Easy to post everything too using Collect+.

However, there seems to be a long lead time between items appearing as processed, to verifying payment to sending payment to receiving payment.

Simply brilliant

Sold a total of 13 boxes of CDs and DVDs and had no problems at all, was able to drop the boxes off at a local newsagents and then received regular email updates as they were processed by Music Magpie. Whole process took about three weeks. No issues with what was paid and it was put directly into my bank account. Overall very impressed and would definitely use again.

Ease of use is a massive bonus , items picked up when promised , handy emails to keep track of your order . Only possible grumble is time taken from pick up to money paid into bank

3 Questions for MM CS.

Seeing as my previous review was removed on the grounds of "no proof of purchase" despite the order number being quoted in the title. Hopefully others will read this before it goes the same way.
I did eventually receive my full payment on the 8th working day but:
If items are rejected, why do you simply pay the lower amount rather than notifying the customer first?
What happens to these retained items?
Why do you then charge £15 to return them?

Have been waiting 6 weeks since sending order off and still not received my money! Not even sure i will!
You get no information unless YOU contact them and then you receive an email within an hour.
Awful service.
Not even if you are desperate use this company, sell your goods at a car boot sale, you will get more money and you wont be left waiting weeks on end. I have had no reasoning for why the process is so poor, just empty useless excuses. Wouldnt give any stars but i have had to unfortunately

Sent order exactly as stated courier arrived on time. Cant understand why it took a week to arrive. got email to say order checked then another asking me to confirm bank details then another asking me to confirm bank details. Then 4 weeks after confirmation of delivery the email to sy money had been transfered to my bank i was concerned that with no reasoning the value of my order had reduced. As it was not by much did not bother persuing. When I make bank transferes they complete within 2 days how did you guess still waiting. Concerned now as my experience is mirrored by too many others for this to be an isolated case. MY ADVISE TRY ANOTHER WAY TO RECYCLE GOODS THAT YOU PAYED GOOD MONEY TO COLLECT.

Ripped off Britain

Not only did I feel the value for some of the item was unfair but I saved the transaction and started again in the morning seeing the total change in 12 hours down to over a pound. Sent to 2 discs in but was told the barcode was rejected or missing which caused my total to go down yet again. Funny how one of the dvds barcode was a popular dvd that sold a crap load in Britain and if they can't find it which I did online then there is no hope for this company. Took almost two months from sending it to receiving the money. Next time I'm going to a real Magpie to get a fair deal. PROOF OF PURCHASE: 2100066 12/02/2014 £44.47

Once bitten!

18 days later and my order has finally been marked as processed and hopefully at some point in the not so distant future I will receive my money.....although a little less than previously agreed. For some reason Music Magpie decided that over £5 worth of my DVDs were not in satisfactory condition (damaged artwork on each apparently) strangely several of these DVDs were new?! £5 isn't worth crying over you say? Let's put this in context, they were offering me 30p a DVD! I spoke to customer service to ask for more information on this damage art work but surprisingly they had no more information available. When I kindly ask for these damaged ones to be returned to me I got a very blunt reply saying no it wasn't cost effective for them to return ones they don't pay for (sounds a little bit like theft no?) After a few drawn out minuets I asked what would happen to my DVDs they weren't willing to a) return to me or b) pay me for and after a short break I was informed that they get 'disposed of' ...yea I bet you do music magpie! Don't waste your time and spend a bit more listing your DVDs on [external reference]... better price, quicker turn around and no chance of getting mugged off! (Well less chance maybe)!

Great experience

Sold combination of CDs and DVDs, scanned them in using iPhone, printed out labels and contents sheet before dropping off the parcel at a local collection point. Waited about 3/4 weeks before payment hit my bank account but fine as I was in no rush. Was kept up-to-date with progress of order. Price offered for goods could have been better, but this is true of all similar sites. Recommend and would use again.

Dont bother!!!!!!!

Okay so my first ever experience was really good! (I cant just say it is all bad). I sent about 300 dvds in a few boxes to be collected whilst I was not home and it was all perfect, perfect, perfect. The only bad thing was the value dropped from an estimated 95 pounds to only 65. My dvds were clean, not scratched and all in very good condition. I wasnt given the option with this payment; it just happened. But I had no gripes, it helped me.
So i decided to use this service again. I scanned dvds, packaged them all into a box with bubble wrap and brown paper etc. Estimated value of 46 pounds for all of them. (No way near 300 dvds this time). I opted to have them picked up by a courier whilst I was home this time. I waited in all day (im 24 years old and that isnt as easy as it might sound when i am about to move house and have many things i need to go and buy ready for the move). It got to 9pm and i felt so disapointed. I emailed musicmagpie and they put all the blame on myhermes (which has such poor service anyway). I was then told to print out the sendservice labels and use the shop. They didnt seem to care about a wasted day. I asked for them to send to my house as i do not have a printer. No reply.
I had to open up the whole box and waste all the bubble wrap and paper etc, rescan all the dvds, and repackage them. The value decreased by this time to almost half. I asked for sendservice pack sent to my house. This was 25th feb. Its 17th march and nothing. I did however receive an email asking where my stuff is from the first bit that the courier didnt bother to collect. This annoyed me. You arent treated as a person.
I am not reopening, rescanning and repackaging this order another time for them not to come. I move out in less than two weeks and i dont have time for this.
If i had to advise any one i would say to go find a local shop that does recycling and this service and do not waste your time on a company that just doesnt care about anything other than money. I have emailed and emailed and emailed them and they simply dont care.
Dont waste a day, dont waste your resources and money and time. Just find some small company who offers great service.

Still waiting for my cheque order 2053686

It has not been more than six weeks since my order was collected, and I have not yet receive payment. I was informed on 25/02/14 that my cheque had been posted and would arrive within seven working days. This has not happened.

To summarise:

- difficult to arrange collection (website would not allow me to do so. Had to call "customer services")
- Ridiculous amount fo time to process and issue payment
- Payment not received
- Four emails sent to "customer services", no response received to any of them
- I made four phonecalls to "customer services", and had a wait of between twenty and thirty minutes each time
- When I called to chase-up payment, I ws advised that theyu could cancel my cheque and pay by bank transfer, but this would take 28 DAYS!!

Added to which, I have read several reviews where people have not received the agreed amount, so I am not confident that I will be paid in full.

An absolute disgrace, I would never use again.

GOT LESS…….

I USE THE ONLIN SYSTEM TO PUT ALL MY DVDS ON.
THEY GAVE ME A PRICE WHICH I ACCEPTED
ALL THE DVDS WERE IN GOOD CONDITION,
I WAS JUST BIT DISAPOINTED WHEN RECEIVING THE CHEQUE IT WORKED OUT LESS THEN WHAT I AGREED FOR,
ESPECIALLY HOW MANY DVDS I SENT OF TO THEM!!!!!!

Zero Customer Service. 100% Hoping I'll Go Away.

I used the service, and stupidly on my count dispatched a box to them containing personal items and items which I have no legal ownership of.
I informed them PRIOR to the parcel being received by them, all details given, explaining that neither their company, nor myself had right to dispose of the items.
Roll on 3 weeks. All I've received is a self generated email saying they haven't yet got all the DVD's I sent them. I had promises of emails or contact from them after every lengthy and expensive call I've made.
They've just said wait. And wait. And wait.

I fully expect this review to be reported by MM as all the previous ones have too and removed. It's clear a lot of people are sharing the same experience.
