Worse than 1&1, outsources customer/tech support to Russian or Ukrainian firm

Post any bad review of Namecheap anywhere on the Net and you'll get dozens of fanboys jumping all over you like a pack of sewer rates -- Namecheap fanboys are the Scientologists of domain registrars; they make the Apple cultists look like Cub Scouts in comparison. This is because of their lucrative affiliate program. Anytime someone irrationally defends Namecheap, you can bet they're getting a piece of the action through the referral program. Namecheap supporters have also threatened to launch DDoS attacks against anyone complaining about Namecheap - think about it, would you want to do business with a company that has the kind of people profiting from its affiliate program that will actually harm its critics? If they're trying to mimik

Namecheap used to be a pretty good registrar up until a few years ago, but ever since they pulled a 1&1 and started outsourcing their customer & tech support out to Russia and the Ukraine, it's gone downhill from there.

Beware of any registrar that does not offer phone support - believe me, when you've got hundreds or thousands of domains registered for mission critical enterprises and you run into problems that need fixing right away, you'll be needing 24/7 phone support. Namecheap not only doesn't offer that, but often will take over a week just to respond to email support tickets, especially for technical matters. They claim responses within 24 hours. Total lie.

There are so many hidden upcharges, surcharges and God knows what else, and even when they royally screw things up, YOU WILL BE BLAMED - even if you're NOT at fault and the blame lays entirely on them.

NONE of their customer & tech support are physically located in the United States. Visit their West L.A. office and there's barely anyone there. It as bureaucratic and Byzantine as 1&1.

There are way, way better registrars out there that not only cost less, but offer free phone support and have real people in the USA you can talk to and even meet in person.

If you're just some average person who has a domain or two, Namecheap and 1&1 are fine - but if you run an enterprise with dozens or more domains, it is the absolute worst choice.

Worst customer service in the history of mankind.

Namecheap's customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. They have no phone support, only LiveChat. Their livechat representative is currently taking an average of 6-8 minutes per response. According to our livechat timestamps, it took representative "Alexander R" 8 minutes to ask the two questions: "What is your name?" and "What domain is this referring to?"

I have been on livechat with this representative for almost a full hour and they have said less than 10 things. It is almost like it is their intention to waste my time.

No one should ever use this hosting service. If you ever have a problem there is no way to get anything done. Run. Go anywhere else. Not here.

Good value and very prompt

Have bought a few services from them; domains and SSL and I can't fault it. Even when I asked for a refund for one SSL certificate it was done within an hour on a Sunday evening. Pretty damn good to say the least.

Totally happy with what it's meant for

Never used hosting or anything other than the domains and domain-related addons from Namecheap. Because come on - they're not a hosting company after all. But what I do know for sure is that domains-wise the service is just awesome! It's exactly what I hoped it would be which gives me a sense of control over how I interact with NC. I love this feeling :-) And the prices are ok as well.

Sucks

Break promises with unlimited hosting. Bad support, people from Russia or something, they have no clue what you are asking them.
Avoid!

Namecheap lies!

Namecheap sells hosting packages with "unlimited" data and storage. "Unlimited" is not at all unlimited.
Hosted only 7 sites and they already told me i needed an upgrade because i used to many space and cpu.

Their sites are sloooooooow, down at an hourly base.

Namecheap is cheap, and cheap should warn you!

Customer support at it best.

I had the need to contact customer support at namecheap.com and was helped by Anna G.

Anna G. identified the problem fast and had me back online in no time. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about what was wrong.

Online companies can learn a lot from namecheap.com on how they handle service tickets and treat their customers.

Thanks again Anna G and namecheap.com

Reliable and Cheap

We have used a few domain registrars previously but since finding Namecheap we have been happy to stick with this company. They run lots of promotions through the year to discount domain registrations, transfers and renewals. Around Thanksgiving (US), you can get hold of incredibly cheap .com domains. Highly recommended!
