I bought a laptop computer from Novatech and had to send it back several times for two weeks at a time a problem with the touch pad , after the third replacement failed I pointed out that when the warranty ran out I would have an expensive paperweight and that they had had it more than me , give them their due they did replace it for a newer model , now I am having problems with the ports on this laptop but am more inclined to just put up with it as I need it every day and can't afford to be without it for another two weeks
So I can't fault the customer backup but I think the product is rubbish
I ordered an MSI 780 ti Twin Frozr 4 graphics card from Novatech on the 19th February. The item was delivered the next day. During stress testing, the graphics card crashed and recovered a couple of times and was emitting quite a lot of coil whine. I requested a replacement and Novatech arranged to have the item picked up from my house on a date of my choosing.
It was explained to me that I would have to wait for up to a week for a replacement, so that the item could be tested. I was unwilling to accept this, so I instead requested a refund.
I'd read some horror stories online about Novatech attempting to sidestep their legal responsibilities as a retailer and about their customer services being downright rude, so I was quite apprehensive, but I have to say that they treated me extremely fairly and were always courteous.
I was contacted a few days later and informed that they could not replicate the fault, but that they were still happy to give me my refund. Two days later and the money has been returned to my credit card.
They may have lost a £540 sale, but they gained my trust and I'd be more than happy to order from them again.
Decided to purchase and build a new computer for all sorts if purposes , needed a source of parts novatech is local and we'll known and is consestentley being recommend so I decided I would purchase from them in there main Portsmouth store only around 3 miles from my home address . I was looking at all their prices only making build ideas and parts list but kept finding what I need was to much as was on a tight budget of £570 - £610 at the very max , I contacted nova tech told them of my problem and said I could purchase else where for cheaper and said I would prefer to purchase locally and pay in full cash , they took very kinda to this and reduced the price of the build by just over £20 and reserved under my name for a Saturday , they also upgraded a part , the wireless PCI e adapter to higher and better 300mbs one this was brilliant and meant I could now just afford the perfect PC and not skimp on any parts . Brilliant deal fantastic done even offered to help take to car etc and was down very quickly and easily .

I live quite close to Novatech's Portsmouth store and over the years I have used both the mail order and fast track services on a number of occasions, as well as just dropping in when I'm looking for something but I'm not sure exactly what I want/need.
I have always found the advice, service and prices to be excellent, and this keeps me coming back as you would expect.
I was very hesitant at first. Having read several reviews complaining about poor customer service, mismatched items, and many other complications, I wasn't sure whether Novatech is a good choice for me to buy most of my new rig's components from. I decided to give it a go, however, and I must admit they are awesome.
The website is easy to navigate through. Of course, some of the descriptions are not detailed enough, but anyone who wants to buy a component should do their research before coming to a merchant's website.
I made the order and waited for two weeks. There came a nicely packaged box including everything I had ordered. All the parts were working and seem to be of great quality. In fact, I am typing this on the machine I built using those parts.
There was one issue, which almost prompted me to give Novatech 4 out of 5: The Intel 4th gen processor was advertised to come with a free GRID 2 PC game. The game never arrived with the CPU. I contacted the customer service and they promised to send it as soon as possible. About a month later, it hadn't arrived yet. I contacted the again and received a voucher code this time, which gave me a digital version of the game. While this could have been avoided with better management on their part, I can't really deduct a star for it, as I believe everything else has been amazing and their support has been one of the fastest and most polite I have seen so far.
Novatech rocks! (or at least rocked this time for me :-) )
I recently bought a Nvidia GTX 660 graphics card from Novatech, which I found to be faulty (kept crashing) , returned item and within a few days received a text to contact them, the advisor confirmed item was faulty, I asked if I could change to a AMD card instead new card was sent out next day delivery.
Very happy customer, many thanks Novatech keep up the good work
Their customer support are terrible liers. I accidentely ordered a graphic card and shipped it back without opening it hours after recieving it. The customer support charged me an extra fee because a scratch had misteriously found its way on the heatshield. Considering the package wasn't even opened and label were still on, that is quite an unaceptable behavior that will surely cost them a customer.
Ive ordered many things of this company. I basically use them for everything now purely for their low prices. I've only ever had to have two items replaced by them before, one under OCZ warranty and one because it was faulty from day 1. Both times they were fast and helpful. We currently have two computers built by novatech. One is a 2.5 year old PC and one is a 4 year old laptop. Both still running fine. Couldn't ask for more - great company.
We bought a laptop from Novatech a year ago. Twice it has needed to go back to the manufacturer under warranty, they have wiped it and sent it back. This is fine although they have never explained what the issues were, I don't think they have a clue, just wipe the hard drive as a catch all.
This time it went back and I was told it had been wiped but as a sticker on the underside of the laptop had come off we no longer had the number to activate windows so we would have to buy a new copy of windows for £80. We had already purchased windows with the laptop so have a legal right to the software we bought, it came preinstalled so there was no disc and we were never made aware that this number was of any importance. It was never sent to us in any other way as it would've been had we directly purchased from microsoft.(I am an apple person so had no idea this number was of relevance) It would make sense for Novatech to let the customer know this is an important number. I realise all the PC heads out there would know this but it is unfair to make the assumption that anyone with no previous knowledge of PC's would do.
Having spoken to other techies they tell me that normally if they receive a laptop for such a repair they will check they have the number before wiping it and if they don't will retrieve it first which is apparently perfectly straightforward. Novatech are apparently not so conscientious. Microsoft say it is up to the manufacturer to to provide the replacement key but Novatech disagree.
Novatech are saying we took the sticker off on purpose (!!?? why they think we would do this I do not know) so they aren't liable.
My son is 14, he used this for all of his homework and of course gaming and connecting with friends, it's now obsolete as we can't afford to buy extra copies of expensive software that we actually already had. So gutted but won't be letting it go. Don't use Novatech, they're techies are presumably incompetent or just don't care and Novatech will take no responsibility.
Although I have ticked 1 star I wouldn't say they were rude in their conduct at all, but this is totally unacceptable.
Visited Portsmouth branch a while back.. Easy parking right outside, great showroom. I had a list of what i needed, reeled it off to assistant , paid and within a few minutes it was wheeled out to my car and i was all done.. Excellent...
My experience with Novatech has been a very poor one overall. In general their prices are very good for the majority of products and a good delivery as well. But when it comes to ripping you off Novatech are the masters. If you are not computer savy they will rip you off as much as possible. Their salesman work on commission so they will usually try to sell you more expensive products that you just do not need. Also their technicians are really sly. I had some new components fitted last year where they felt it was ok to not send me old ones back which back then was worth allot of money! To be fair I contacted them and they sent all the components back with next day delivery BUT and this is a big but, I opened the old.computer the other day to check that it was all working and that (so I could sell it on to a friend) and it turns out the 'technician' that fitted it kept the processor for himself and made it looked like the CPU had not been touched by screwing the CPU fan back on, more of a conman if you ask me. I have all the receipts to prove the work and that of the old CPU but because it's been a year it will be hard to prove. So to conclude buy their products just do your own research on them and do not listen to their salesmen and fit the products yourself or someone other than novatech!
Ordered high spec computer NT 146, dual monitors and Window8 pro. Machine arrived on time but after few days of use errors on start up got BSOD errors. Technicians identified error (through remote session) so asked for return of machine but then said there was not a problem but eventually said there could be a problem with the hard drive. Anyway, Novatech agreed to send brand new machine; it arrived as promised but in a poor state, 2 front panels were bent, the front fan was hanging out and as I lifted the machine out of the box all the front panels fell out. The packaging again was poor so no surprise the machine had been damaged in transit (Ebay buyers would rank packaging as very poor!). I was offered £50 compensation if I kept the damaged machine and accepted replacement front panels. This doesn't even cover the time wasted calling Novatech never mind the costs incurred due to loss of work through not having a working PC. I personally would not recommend this company.
I ordered a Gigabyte 7950 Graphics card for my upcoming computer build, as this site had not just the cheapest price, but also the offer of two free games. I ordered just yesterday evening (as with the rest of the components from other companies).
Whilst the other items haven't even despatched yet, this GPU has gone from their Portsmouth depot to Aberdeen in under a day, and the P&P paid I definitely did not expect this! Great service! Surprisingly fast too! (Rivals Amazon on a good day, I'm outwith Amazon's guaranteed next day delivery service area...)
Customer services were great as well as I made a mistake on the order and so did not add the free games into the deal by accident (I hadn't noticed and was a bit tired whilst ordering). 5 minute chat with one of the helpdesk aides and they're going to sort it out for me. Cannot fault the company at all, will definitely be using them in the future for my computing needs!
They know more than those idiots at PC World/Comet but don't rely on them. Know exactly what you want BEFORE you step foot in the shop and this shop will be a lifesaver. Competitive online prices and delivery. Cardiff store has arranged stock to be transferred for me many times and it's always arrived in-store on time. Recommended IF you know what you want, don't expect them to know every little detail about your product, they're not rocket scientists. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
I contacted Novatech support to ask several questions ('does x part come with y' ect.). They answered my questions well. When I ordered the item, at 2pm I received the dispatched email within two hours and I had the products three days later. I have never used novatech before, but was recommended by the Haynes Build your Own Computer book. If I ever need any electronics parts again I would certainly go to Novatech
Paid about £7 or so for next day delivery with this company, it came to about 4 o clock and I used their live support (which was prompt, I'll give them an extra star for that). Was told that it wouldn't be coming until Saturday, I then inquired, why did I pay £7.50 for a two day delivery? I specifically paid for next day delivery, expecting it to come next day. My client now has to wait an extra day for his machine to be built completely due to the shambles.
Now, I hope you're sitting down, I inquired which courier service is handling the package so I could track it, the reply I got "I don't believe Royal Mail does tracking", I almost died, I felt like a piano had fell on my head, I mean, who honestly uses royal mail during December? It's nonsense, I paid £7.50 for delivery, I expected DPD or TNT or maybe FedEx, heck, I wouldn't even have minded if it was Yodel! But royal mail?! WOW. Is all I have to say.
They lost a star, because I openly/passively said "This is what I get for using a not well known company", to which that tugged a few strings and I received a very rude reply "Excuse me, we are well known, we have been in business for many years serving clients who are extremely happy with our service, that is completely wrong"...Upz...did I hit a nerve? Sorry Novatech, but you're not like Amazon or Ebay, I only found you on the backend of a Google search. I always like giving unknown companies a chance, well, you blew it.
To stop it from being two stars, they did refund the postage and packaging since I didn't receive it next day, however, why in hell are you using royal mail during December is beyond me, for that, you lost another star.
Will I use this company in the future? Change courier services and I might.
