I booked a trip to Cambodia with Opodo, as I do every year. I knew that the dates might change so purchased Opodo Extra which enables flight times to be changes without an administration charge.
On changing the flights, they confirmed that there would be no admin charge but that I would have to completely cancel and rebook a new ticket to change the times. This means that there was no benefit to purchasing Opodo Extra. I lost £850.
Technically, they are in the right as these details are contained in the terms and conditions but with regards to compliance with the code produced by the Committee of Advertising Practice that "Marketing communications must not materially mislead or be likely to do so", I think it falls short. It may even be in breach of the 2008 Consumer Protection regulations which states that a commercial practice (the advertising of "no administration fees" is misleading if it "causes or is likely to cause the average consumer to take a transactional decision he would not have taken otherwise".
I have used Opodo, bought tickets from the airlines and also read the many negative feedbacks. The fact is you can try to save what probably amounts to about 5-8% on a regular ticket, or you can pay the extra 5% and get it through the airline direct. The stress-free way in my experience, is to go direct to the airline. If you really can't afford the few extra $ on a 'proper' ticket then you should probably be staying at home anyway.
I always find searching for deals and booking a breeze on Opodo. It's my go-to site for any booking i make on flights and hotels.
Few weeks after making a reservation for a ticket we found out just by chance that one of our tickets (we are a couple who was supposed to travel together) did not actually exist. The reservation was cancelled by Opodo with no reasons despite the credit card had been debited. We didn't get back the money yet. We had to book another ticket which was way more expensive, since departure was very close an availability very low, and travel separately. We are still lucky we found out before the departure day.
It is great to be able to survey all the different possibilities in one place, but when one is looking for the most economical and convenient way to get from A to B it would be nice if when one signed in to the site the same results came up each time.
For example, I looked one day and found a good Singapore Airlines flight. I wasn't ready to decide dates then, but when I wanted to book, the same flights didn't come up. Eventually I scanned through by looking under each Airline separately, and eventually found the same flight that came up first time.
This type of experience leaves one without confidence that one has found the best option possible.
This company couldn't have been more helpful. I had to cancel my original booking and re-arrange flights and dates. I received a substantial refund on my original booking which helped soften the blow.
I was very pleased with Opodo's customer service. The staff were friendly and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble : they were very willing and helpful when I decided to extend my visit to Cyprus, calling BA several times, eventually securing the flights that I wanted.
Very impressed and will book with them again
I booked my return flight but received confirmation for one way only. I tried to contact Opodo and hanged up after waiting for about 20 minutes on the phone. I have sent an email about two weeks ago and have received no response as yet.
I've booked several transatlantic multi-stop flights with Opodo and have always found the website easy to use and most importantly the prices very good. I would recommend to other people.
Don't be fooled when you see the cheap price offered by opodo. I was charged twice and my account went heavily into overdraft as a result. Their customer service has thus far been appaling and I doubt very much I will ever use them again.
Well I have booked with Opodo again for my trip to Ukraine in January I don't think I would book with anybody else now they have given me first class service again, it was so straight forward on line give them a try and find out your self.
I booked a long haul flight and wanted to find a good deal with a few options to choose from. Opodo provided me with more than a few good options and very competitive prices. The booking, confirmation process was easy and not time consuming. I would and have already recommended their service.
It would have been easier to be able to add different legs of the journey to my shopping trolley before I paid, because after buying 3 different flight my card was then blocked and refused.
I am very pleased with the transactions carried out to date with Opodo. They appear to offer keen prices, particularly for European flights, against their competitors. Website is easy to navigate, so all in all a pleasant experience.
when i had found out my bank account was been taken two times for one flight ticket, i sent email to the customer service team immediately. BUT they did not reply me. and I sent another email with attachment of my bank statement to the customer service team. They ignore me as well. This disappoint me very very much!!!!! I think if they do not contact me back i will not shop Opodo again, and also i do not recommend to my friends.
Your website it terrible for booking. It forgets details, always has an issue with the basket. Often it crashes in the middle and the I don't know whether I have booked and paid or not.
I made this booking late on the Saturday Night and accidentally booked the flight exactly one week before the date we travel in September 2014.
I tried to ring the premium support line on Sunday morning, but gave up after 28 minutes as there was no reply.
I phoned again on Monday morning and got through after 14 minutes.
The cost of my change of date for my wife and self for the identically priced flight was in excess of £150.00. Such a charge cannot possibly be hustified.
I don;t like flying and do a lot of it. This is as good as it comes.
I booked my Christmas flight at the end of May. Then beginning of November I start getting emails from Opodo that my flight has been changed and I should call them. I had booked using Opodo Extra which means they will support you in case something goes wrong. But to no avail. Opodo only emails you to ask you to call them on their premium rate number. Previously when I booked with a different agent but also with BA directly they got in touch to inform me of changes. Opodo Extra emails do not get answered despite the promises at the time of booking and they do not call you either. In the end they called me back as I put the phone down after 5 minutes on hold and told me that I couldn't fly on the day I wanted because the flight was fully booked. So they booked me on for another day only for me to see the flight that I originally wanted still available on their website. This is not my first bad experience with Opodo. In the past they refused to refund me my money, £150, when Malev went bust. I thought that the whole point of booking through an agent was so that your flight and money is secure but this certainly is not the case with Opodo. They just take your money and are not interested further the only good thing seems to be that they call you back if you give up holding. I will not book with them again as it is the most frustrating thing ever and your flight is not guaranteed.
