The Parcel Monkey courier service is excellent up to the point where the actual courier service is involved.
Sure, they'll take your money in the most efficient of manners - but that's where it stops. The couriers often simply do not turn up, with out any warning, reason or explanation. You will be left hanging for days, whilst their 'support' staff (which basically consists of one imbecile called May) supposedly emails the courier company - and it never gets past that.
It's been about 10 days since Night Freight didn't bother to show up on either of the days they specified - forcing me to hire a second courier service elsewhere at additional cost. In fact 10 days on both me and imbecile 'May' are still waiting for Night Freight to confirm they didn't even show up! And of course, there is no chance of Parcel Monkey refunding me until they do, and of course there is no guarantee that Night Freight will ever respond. Seriously avoid these guys, if you want a cheap courier I recommend you visit Shiply.com - you can see who delivers on time and actually TALK to a real person right here in the UK. No bollocks.
here is an email i i sent them describing what happened to me... 6 days later after sending another msg as well. i am still waiting for a reply
i am writing this letter of complaint due to the terrible service i have received from your company it was the first time i used you and was looking for somebody reliable to support my growing business. i booked a collection for the 30th april which was not collected at all. due to this i have had no stock and lost around £200 in profit.
the collection was then re arranged for today from ec1n 7su. which i was first told that your company does not even service this post code (central london????)
after the customer support adviser re arranged it manually at his end i hoped there would be no further problems.
when the courier arrived (today) he told me that the parcel could not be delivered tomorrow but it would have to be delivered tuesday as i had not paid for saturday delivery.
well that was obvious as the parcel was supposed to be collected tuesday and delivered wednesday. so now i still have no stock and i am further loosing money.
What i want to know is why the person in your customer support (patrick) rebooked it and see it was next day, didnt tell me that i would have to pay more for saturday delivery (or change the delivery type entirely) instead of booking it and making my life extremely difficult.
This situation has really annoyed me and in total i would have lost around £350 in profit the time i get the parcel, and i need some kind of compensation from you to cover this.
The levels of competence have been outstandingly low and i have been left severely struggling to make other repayments i have which could also incur charges from. if i do not receive (what i think to be) a satisfactory level of compensation and apology for the problems that you have caused me. i will forward this email to watch dog and also find every site that has ever reviewed parcel monkey and copy and paste this letter on their to show what has happened to me so it does not happen to anybody else. and on top of that any other way i can think of, of letting people know what has happened. i am simply trying to run a business and your company (for me) has made that im-possible this week.
you cannot expect me to just take this one on the chin and live with a loss when it has been through no fault of my own.
rgds
Book it in pay them, items get damaged you pay extra to be fobbed off
Taking them to court over £500 worth of damage they will accept anything then tell you when its all gone wrong its not in their terms
TOTAL JOKE
I left behind my suitcase on a train in Wales. 5 days later, it showed up at the Newport train station's Lost Property Office. After discussing how to get the suitcase back to me in Canada (I had already come home by then), I was referred to Parcel Monkey, which I understand is the 'middle man' for hiring a courier. The site was easy to use and I selected which courier and price I wanted to use, and completed the necessary customs form (and I was completely honest about what the contents were). There was no trouble with the pick up, the tracking number was provided and I did indeed track that puppy all the way from the LPO in Wales through customs to my home town. Not a thing went wrong, and nothing was taken from my suitcase. They had quoted me 5-8 business days, and it took 9 business days but that's no problem for this customer.
Sorry this is long winded but I feel everyone should know this before they use Parcelmonkey.
I have used parcelmonkey twice, the first time was good with no problems, the second time was terrible! Having booked for my two parcels to be delivered I took out insurance at an extra cost, as the items were very expensive and I wanted peace of mind that if anything happened I was covered.......how wrong was I! Upon delivery of the packages to the recipient it was found that the items had been damaged in transit. Having got in contact with parcelmonkey and explained what had happened I was given a form to fill in and was asked for proof of how much the items were and they wanted to see millions of photos of the packaging as it had been delivered from the outside but also how it was wrapped on the inside. Fortunately I had followed parcelmonkeys recommendations on how to package the items with lots of cardboard and bubble wrap ect so I wasn’t that worried about that.
Luckily the recipient and myself had taken some pics and so the claim could go further, otherwise it would have been tough luck sunshine we’re not interested! Having given all the necessary info/pics in I was told I would hear in 1-2 days the decision. So the verdict came back in less than 24hrs and I thought everything would be fine and I would be compensated........nope don’t think so! Its amazing how the items were in perfect order when they were picked up, but by the time they were delivered they weren’t! But according to parcelmonkey they had some how magically become damaged but of course not by their couriers!! Having made a complaint I have been ignored and I am now left with a big repair bill.
Don’t use them and don’t take out insurance, it’s a scam and they will never pay out!
Thanks ever so much Parcelmonkey for your wonderful service....yes this is sarcasm!

Failed collection. No customer service. Cant speak to anyone, no telephone number can only email which they never respond to. DO NOT USE, worst cust service I have ever experienced. TERRIBLE
You never know how good a company is until you make a claim.
The courier damaged my parcel and they are refusing to refund me.
Every time I send a parcel with this dreadful company I get an email 2 weeks later saying my parcel weighed more than it really did and they charge my card for an extra £5 to £30!
They are liars!!!!!!!
DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
DIDNT TURN UP, TRIED TO CHARGE MY CARD FOR NON EXISTENT SERVICES, DONT EVEN GET A QUOTE FROM THEM, THEY WILL TRY TO STEAL MONEY FROM YOU, NO CUSTOMER SERVICES, NOTHING, NO COMPENSATION, THEY SHOULD BE DELISTED, A BUNCH OF AMATEUR FRAUDSTERS
DONT!!!!!!!!
Parcel never delivered, and returned to they hub in George Curl Way in Southampton now they are lieing saying it was to big and no where to be round. Utter nonsense, struggling to get anywhere.
Here are more contact details by looking at all the directors who have numerous companies one call [Link] and [Name] is a director of both [Link], pester them people maybe we can get somewhere, here is a mobile for another director [Name] [Link]
Warning they lie and say your parcel weighed more and take the money out of your bank.
I sent a parcel to France, I weighed after packaging and then added a bit more just to make sure, but then I got an email to say invoice for extra payment, and a weird explanation about the weight basically saying it was 3 times more than what I stated!!
No way did a light weight piece of clothing weigh 9 KG, (I weighed a heavy item of clothing from my wardrobe still that only weighed around 3 kg and that was definitely a heavy item than the one sent) I clicked the link for the invoice, it just had a charge amount but didn't say anything about how to pay. I emailed about this to say I couldn't understand how they can say it weighed 3 times more the weight then I stated as it just wasn't possible. Anyway there response was its the weekend so will take longer to reply, then another email days later saying they will ask the accounts team to take a look, still no reply. In the meantime I see they just took the payment out from my account. Will never ever use them again.
Do NOT use this company. Stay well away. I waited in all day only to find out that the driver from City Link had been and left without taking my parcels. He either had the wrong address, or just saw there was no car and didn't bother ringing. The only reason I found out was because I checked Parcel Monkey to see if they had any time guidance on when City Link might collect. The courier left no note to prove he had ever been to my home. I phoned the help line who said I could reschedule for another day. The depot said I could drop the parcels in myself, they could not come out again, despite the fact that it was only 1.30pm when I found out that they had been and gone. No sympathy for my wasted time and no offer of any reimbursement. The manager at City Link said that his drivers will not call the contact number of the customer if there is no answer! What is the point of a contact number if it is not used? Totally incompetent and left me feeling very fed up.
This is the unsympathetic message I received after contacting parcel monkey about it:
" Hello,
Our sincere apologies for whatever inconvenience this may have caused. Unfortunately, the Accounts Team does not provide compensation/refund for failed or delayed collection.
In the meantime, we have checked this order has been rebooked for tomorrow 26th.
Kind regards,
lynn"
I will be waiting in again tomorrow...
I decided to use parcel monkey as they seemed to be a bit cheaper. What an idiot i was. You know when you get that little voice in your head "you pay for what you get"
I paid for the parcel to be collected on Monday, nobody turned up. Rang up city link, tried ringing parcel monkey and couldn't find the number. Emailed them instead.
City link turned up late on Tuesday night. So i was expecting the parcel to be delivered on Wednesday, as you know i had paid for next day delivery and all.
Wednesday comes and go and no parcel delivered. Thursday late afternoon the parcel gets delivered. So i paid for next day delivery and didn't get anywhere near that.
GARBAGE SERVICE, AND WILL 110% NEVER USE AGAIN.
I will make sure i spread the word to all friends, family and work chaps.
After an horrendous experience with Parcel2go, (Hermes failed to pickup 3 times and after much irate emailing and 'live chat' with me asking for a refund or I would report to Trading Standards, they changed the courier to City Link, who finally DID pick up, more than a week since I oringinally booked and paid for the service), I was looking elsewhere.
I chose Parcelmonkey, or rather DX through Parcelmonkey, who came the next day, even bought their own bag and label.
I think it does depend on what the individual courier for your area is like. I have seen many complaints about City Link, yet the guy in this area is very good and reliable. Ditto DX. Yet Hermes and Yodel I would not touch with a bargepole while I live here. Especially NOT Hermes.
Parcelmonkey is only the middle man. I did get numerous email updates from them, and was able to get questions answered promptly - eg I thought I needed to print a label, but they said not, the courier will bring it.
Good communication with the company is obviously important. I found this was no problem with Parcelmonkey, unlike Parcel2go - also a middleman - whom I could only contact through so called 'Live Chat' which appeared to be completely dead for most of the time. Emails went unanswered. They made faithful promises to 'fast-track' my pickup for the next day and still nobody turned up. Overall the whole transaction took about 10 days and was an infuriating waste of time and energy, as opposed to a next day pickup with DX through Parcelmonkey.
So until things go wrong, I will stick with DX through Parcelmonkey. Recommended.
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST INTERNET EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.....AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A week after sending my package, parcelmonkey charged my credit card because they claim my package was larger and heavier than I said it was.
... the thing is, I sent a mobile phone, and they added additional charges for a 12kg 29x48x43cm package!
I laughed when I got the mail, and sent them an e-mail to let them know, and get them to refund the charge. All I got (after 2 weeks!) was a short mail from Matt Sennett stating that they didn't see the problem (are you kidding me?), and that all customers agree to paying additional charges if the package weight/meassurements are incorrect. Correspondence is extremely slow, but I am still trying to get a response. It's been so long now though, that I will no longer wait with a giving a horrible rating... not that it matters apparently - I don't think I've ever seen a company with such a horrible, horrible track record. I clearly should not have used them in the first place :(
Horrible, horrible customer service, and a system 100% made to rip off customers! Will never use them again!

A disgrace!
Quite simply they managed to completely damage a £900 item which was proven to be during the delivery process and refused to pay out a penny of the insurance that i paid extra for because apparently under their terms and conditions they do not accept glass.

Nothing you send is actually insured no matter how much you paid, SO MANY BREAKAGES I have lost over half my income for 2013 so far with their services and not even the postage costs were returned.
Pretty much bankrupted me, do not touch!!!!

I used them to send back a shower quadrant that was no good for what I needed, the supplier was going to give me a full refund when I sent the item back. When the item reached the supplier is was damaged. So the would not accept it and Is was going to be returned to me. This never happened as it was put in a skip without any discussion with me. At the time of booking the delivery I was sold insurance and Parcel Monkey were fully aware of what the item was, also when the driver picked up the item there was a very detailed picture on the box. I tried to claim via the insurance and surprise surprise I was told that the item is on the prohibited list in their Terms and Conditions so I was not covered. This seemed strange given that they sold me the insurance and they knew what the item was as per the invoice.I have made many contacts with them and all have been given the same response they hide behind their T&C on every occasion. When I contacted the number given for support I ended up speaking to the service provider who did agree. With my complaint and informed me that they have had a lot of trouble with Parcel Monkey and said they would forward my details on to the claims manager Kevin. As per normal he followed the standard reply. I was offered the return of the insurance cost £2 (what an insult) at a later stage the offered me the total shipping cost of £54.45 another insult.I was told that I should not be contacting the service provider but strange that is the number given to me on their web site for support. To date I am £300 out of pocket and they have disposed of my item without any discussion with me. It now looks that after being reasonable I will have no option but to take the advice of my legal adviser and the trading standards officer who stated that PM are at fault under the Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982. It seems that as with many companies these days PM are quick to take your money but tend to hide behind things like T&C when they can, I shall never use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone, worse possible service and customer care ever. Its just a shame I had to tick 1 star as none would have better.
had a few items delivered one was late by 2 days and the other was damaged very poor service professional touch missing a lot

As per many other reviews on this site, I found Parcel Monkey to be totally unreliable. They dropped my delivery without warning or notification, then proceed to tell me someone had called when I knew for a fact they had not. This is a common ruse they use to only refund a portion of the delivery costs for their mistake.
The upshot is you end up with missed delivery, additional costs to sort out their errors, and then a half baked refund and lousy customer service to even get that far.
If you are thinking of using parcel monkey remember they are cheap(ish) for a reason! Don't be fooled by the reviews on their website / FB page - they just simply remove the bad ones (of which I am guessing there are many!) and I would doubt the honesty of the good ones given their level of ethics and lack of respect for their customers. PLEASE AVOID if your delivery is in any way urgent.

Parcel Monkey
Same as Jason Cooke problem. they treat customers with disdain they have know phone contact which is always as sign that they have a lot of complaints. They change their policies without notifying regular customers. If you read on you will see the offer of £1.00 for a supposedly fully insured item which i paid extra for also you will see they admit that the insurance they say on their website that they sell you actually is not insurance. I could go on but bored just avoid please.

You
I did provide documents. You said I didn't provide any documents. Delivery has been twice now as you can see by your records unlike your company we do what we promise. Two times delivery comes to £27.56 not £1.00. So if it's not insurance why is it sold as insurance on your website which is a misrepresentation which I think trading standards will be interested in.

The product is an aluminium radiator value £340.Ferroli brand new. Just a note to let you know this is not a rare occurrence as somebody told me today parcel force used to break 10% of all his deliveries and we are running at about 5/10% so far as well. Why is there at time limit put on this now of less than a week and you know I paid extra for the insurance as it is proving to be a necessity and you know and so does everybody else that these items are insured twice with the carrier as well. If your insurance cover and what you charge for this is not adequate I suggest you get a better company and charge more for it as I seem to have to jump through hoops to get paid.I stuck with you for all my deliveries as you paid the full insurance cover I took out last time and IO hope you will this time or I will change companies.Thanks.

Firstly, the web site: Why does it take so long to load ?? Argh !
Secondly: A few times now I have had e-mails from PM saynig that they are have charged me an extra amount as my parcel was found to be over the size I stated. Including one to Brazil that incurred an extra charge of £35 !
When I agrued the point with them I got an apology and my money back. However, this happens a lot with PM and I do feel that they just try it on. Also, why do they feel they can just take the money off you BEFORE telling you they are going to do it ?
On the plus side, I have found the customer support for issues pretty good and they are very well priced for international deliveries
they come to your home collect your stuff
you can print you own label or if you do not have a printer you can choose for them to have it with the collection agent
great prices
put the information in the boxes size ,weight to, from ect give you lots of options 24 /48 overnight ect
great for all item

When I went on face book today I noticed parcel monkey had posted an open feedback opportunity. As I had just suffered a absolutely terrible service from their dc courier service, I took the opportunity. I posted my experience and got a quick reply asking for more information, which I supplied. I also criticized the dx service and the fact they no longer accept paypal, suggesting it was done to stop customers claiming back their payments when PM don't fulfill their contract. Now I have just noticed that all my posts have been removed, infact almost all of the negative posts have been removed, just leaving the favourable posts. What's up parcel monkey can't you take criticism!

Don't trust them. They offer a cheap headline rate then renage on the contract. They blamed the external courier and when I checked the fault was Parcel Monkey. Parcel Monkey customer service was atrocious and instead of giving a reason for the issue or trying to sort it out they just gave me a link to apply for a refund which will take 7 days!!!
I cannot emphasise enough how bad this company is and if you want value for money go elsewhere. Likewise, if you want something delivered securely and with a professional approach, go elsewhere.
I cannot see this company lasting and i would not want to have anything in transit when Parcel Monkey finally fails and stops trading.

Sent a Sega Megadrive through City Link Parcel Monkey. Ordered online, pick up from my house turned up on time. 2 days later the recipient got his Megadrive in one piece. Can't think of anything to complain about, job's a good'n!

very very good. any bad review here is because of the COURIER and not parcel monkey. I've used them over 100 times without a single problem. They reply to support tickets very fast, they are polite and helpful.
I ordered three parcels to be picked up on the same day from this company. 1 arrived damaged, the other two went missing. I had to refund the customers, and Parcel Monkey only refunded the original Postage cost, even though I insured bot the missing parcels for £100. All because their system showed the parcels not having been picked up. Customer service is prompt, but they offer no compensation other than original postage cost even though you pay extra for insurance. WIDE BIRTH, AVOID. Use main companies like city link, Parcel Force, as they provide a tracking number. The drivers for this company don't have collection tickets, even if you ask for their signature. I had to hand write one and ask the driver to sign it. Unbelievably shoddy work!!!
We are now 2 weeks in, having not received a "Guaranteed" Next Day Delivery next day, and when we did received it, it had been damaged in transit. This in itself is not Parcel Monkey's fault.
What is their fault, is their atrocious communication, and claims procedure!
Be aware when you use these cowboys that there is NO WAY of contacting them other than through their website or by e-mail (although if you e-mail them they just tell you to use their website!)
We are a family of 4 with 2 young children, and it was our new oven that was broken in transit, and so we have been without an oven for nearly 2 weeks with no sign of any resolution. We have been in touch with CityLink, who have been really helpful, but are limited with what they can do because their "contract is with Parcel Monkey"
What do we do now?? Limited communication from Parcel Monkey, no oven and no money to spend on repairs or ANOTHER oven!
Thanks very much Parcel Monkey, but we will certainly NOT be using you again, and can not express strongly enough to anyone reading this review DO NOT USE PARCEL MONKEY! Pay a little bit more for a company that will actually provide you with some amount of Customer Service!
They chose quite aptly, when they picked the name Parcel MONKEY!
We waited in all day, the parcel wasn't collected. No one contacted us to let us know. It became my problem to try and sort it out. It's impossible to talk to anyone from Parcel Monkey - they provide a phone number of the courier on their website, but the couriers rightly say, you are a customer of Parcel Monkey, so will not speak to you! They do not offer refunds or any compensation at all, but hide behind their Ts and Cs - which makes it all ok. It has all been very frustrating and a terrible waste of time. I strongly advise you to pay a little bit more and liaise directly with a courier company. In this instance, you get what you pay for!

Sent products, very well packaged/boxed to Recipient 3rd Feb. Recipient alerted me that they received them with oil covering the box and this had leaked onto 13 out of 35 products. I got this message 48 hours after recipient had signed for the products. In my Parcel Monkey account it stated that I had until 29th Feb to claim so I emailed recipient for evidence to help with the claim, I received photos on the 19th Feb and opened the claim with Parcel Monkey.
I'm not at all surprised with the NEGATIVE response below. Basically Parcel Monkey are refusing to refund me anything because I apparently should have reported the damage within 24 hours of recipient signing for the goods. Way to change your Terms & Conditions when you feel like it Parcel Monkey. 24 Hours to report an issue is a joke and impossible. Shame on you Parcel Monkey.
Apparently Its official, Parcel Monkey are on the bare bones of their arse having just raised prices approx 70% site wide and like most internet companies they believe they can do as they please with customers' money. Unfortunately not with mine, they'll be in court very soon. I love a good day out.
Parcel Monkey you do not support your customers, and for this I am closing my account immediately and am now using [Link] and [Link] via [Link] to save on each shipment versus Parcel Monkey prices. I will watch your demise with pleasure until you refund me monies owed.
Message from Parcel Monkey:
We refer to your claim, dated 19th Feb, concerning the above shipment. We are disappointed to learn of the inconvenience that you have encountered
Parcel Monkey conducts business in accordance with its standard Terms and Conditions of Carriage; these conditions can be found on the Parcel Monkey’s Website or at the time the order was processing. Please be advised that when you or your representative signed the ‘Shipper’s agreement’ section of the Terms and Conditions, you entered into a legally binding contract and agreed that Parcel Monkey’s Terms and Conditions were all the terms of the contract between Parcel Monkey and yourself.
Clause 5 provides that all claims must be reported to Parcel Monkey within 24hours from the date that Parcel Monkey delivered the shipment. Our records indicate that your shipment was delivered by Parcel Monkey on 3rd Feb 2012 and that your first notification to Parcel Monkey was on 19th Feb.
As this falls outside of the 24 hours, regrettably, we are unable to proceed any further with your claim.
I cancelled their services next day from booking but they still picked up. Now they refuse to take liability because their so called 'records' show not collection but person who was physically there said they collected. So they lost £300 worth of items and cannot do nothing.
BEWARE
Managed to loose 2 of my parcels then refused to offer any compensation, taking to small claims court.
Parcelmonkey offer a good service at a very good price (a third of one of their competitors prices).
They have helped me out with large heavy deliveries that others cannot touch Thank You.
I can't complain. Moved form Interparcel to Parcelmonkey and so far never had any problems with them (I only use CitiLink service).
