Their new mobile checkout feature is cool.

They just launched it in Austin and I've used it to get a couple of free meals / drinks. Thanks paypal.

But I do hate how much you charge in fees, and also how you always try to force me to use my bank account instead of my credit card.

Untrustworthy For Pricey Transactions

I want this to serve as a review and a warning for individuals buying phones on eBay using Paypal or BillMeLater services:

"On November 3, 2013, I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 cell phone from a user on eBay, for $688.00. A little over 2 months after owning this device, on the morning of January 31, 2014, I was unable to use the T-Mobile carrier service on this phone, specifically a "Not registered on this network" error message. After trying everything I knew how to resolve what seemed like a hardware issue, I gave up and called T-Mobile. The first time, I was told the phone had been blacklisted and not much more or why. The second time I called, I was then told that, because the original owner failed to make payments on this phone, the account had gone into a delinquency state, and the device deactivated. I made the seller aware of this circumstance. His response generally indicated he couldn't be bothered with a resolution. After researching my ordeal, and finding several other victims of similar circumstances, I became concerned and irritated and filed a claim with eBay, Bill Me Later, and Paypal--to no avail. The seller became aware of this and retaliated by e-mail basically saying he was washing his hands of the situation and dealing with eBay directly.

At the time, his auction listing contained the following information: "This Note 3 Has NEVER been opened, It is still in the factory box SEALED! EMIE is Clear as of posting of this add. No Returns. I also have a White Note 3 in same condition. $20 Shipping cost covers insurance and will be shipped same day after payment is confirmed. NO new buyers!" No where in this listing did he specify that the item up for auction was associated with an account/equipment lease agreement that had not been fulfilled. He purposely left out this information, fraudulently sold an item that he had not completely paid for, and worst waited until the return periods of all three companies were up before he defaulted on his account obligations with T-Mobile. Thus leaving me with a near $700 paperweight. Upon contacting all three of the mentioned merchants, Bill Me Later, PayPal, and eBay, they all said there was nothing they could do because of their policies, i.e. past the point of return. Paypal suggested that I submit a report to all the major fraud investigation entities. As it stands now, in my opinion, eBay, Paypal, and BillMeLater, by allowing this seller to get away with this travesty, played an integral role in providing the platform for this man's deceptive trade practice."

Long story short: for eBay, Paypal, and BillMeLater, their company policies are more important to them than common sense, our legal system, and worse yet--basic ethical practices. If you're thinking about making fairly expensive purchases through either of them--DON'T. If something goes wrong--even criminally wrong--all you will receive is regurgitated policy and "too bad" if it's past their grace/return periods. You're better off using your credit card since their fraud protection actually PROTECTS you from FRAUD.

Consider yourself warned.

PayPal is a scam and they are thieves.

I am a new client of Paypal I put €70 on my prepaid account and also connected it with my bankaccount. Since I am using it I cannot buy anything anywhere. I called the customer service several times and they promised me to fix it and lower the security level. Still nothing has changed and I still cannot pay. Also when you are in a foreign country and you want to log in from there they freeze your account immediately.
I was also thinking about taking a merchant account so that people can pay me in my e-commerce business. But after this bad experience I will never implement paypal as a paymeny system for my Business. There are better and cheaper alternatives.

They love to keep YOUR money

I have been a PayPal user for at least 8 years, and eBayer for just as long, using PayPal. I started selling items on a regular basis in October with no issues, selling around $3000 worth of multiple items over the course of several months. Then a week ago on a $90 sale, PayPal decides to start holding my funds on all sales for no apparent reason. I research and find that this happens when a seller is new or hasn't sold in awhile, does not use eBay shipping labels or does not add tracking info to their sales, or has a negative feedback eBay seller rating. None of which apply to me, I have a 100% positive feedback, I always use eBay shipping labels, and have never had an issue with a customer. I even would hold $1000-1500 worth of cash in my account. All of a sudden, all of my sales suffered a "pending" funds, so they would hold MY money for up to 21 days. Upon calling a PayPal rep, they said I should've been under pending status since Oct, but since I haven't, I will have to start over as if I just started selling items on eBay until I sell $250 and 25 items. I totally get it that new PayPal users should have limitations, but I am not new, nor I am I a risk. I refuse to leave any money in my PayPal account nor will I use PayPal when there are other options. You have cost yourself more money that you will make while holding my funds hostage,.

PAYPAL A EVITER

j'ai ete debite deux fois de 171 EUROS pour la meme commande, c'est paypal qui m'a debite sans mon avis 171 EUROS de plus.de plus impossible de recrediter mon compte bancaire car mon compte est restreint et bloqué. et qui m'empeche toute transaction ,de plus litige de 78 EUROS avec vendeur allemand et toujours pas rembourse alors que j'avais retourne a mes frais la marchandise.et impossible de fermer cecompte.important pour tous ceux qui se sont fait attrapper la dcgrf est la solution pour porter plainte. il existe d'autres antennes de la dgcr f s'occupant de tels litiges

Been with them for years but now find them totally useless

I had my account limited for some reason, so could not make any purchases, trying to resolve problem would have more chance of getting blood from a stone. would not mind if I was spending their money.

Look at ownership. Enemy of America!

After this company robbed me I decided to look up the ownership. Then it all made sense. Their computer algorithm is optimized to maximize profits on overdraft. They will hold your money, delay payments, put things through inconsistently, etc. (anything it takes to get extra fees out of you). Don't trust them and don't say you weren't warned.

Made a purchase on Ebay several months ago and spent many hours trying to deal with PAY PAL customer service regarding payment made to a customer for an item I NEVER received. What a shame! I will never make a purchase on Ebay or use Pay Pal "scam payment" services again. Will certainly make sure all the folks I know, don't suffer the same as me.

What a scam....

After being a loyal customer for ebay for many years buying and selling. I recently sold items and was paid correctly by the customers through paypal. After I went to the ATM to withdraw 400$ from my paypal account it said that I would be at my daily limit. I agreed just for the fact that is was 11pm and it was only a few hours till next business day anyways. I than agreed to take money out. After pressing ok it denied me of my funds for the 400$ and spit out a receipt saying I took 400$ out. But nothing came out of the atm.After a few days I checked my paypal account and the money wasn't there. It said I withdrew 400$. Wtf....... After waiting a few days more to finally see if they fixed it the problem was still there. Finally today I called explained what happened and after I told them I had my receipt that said payment denied from the ATM they said they would fix the problem. I tend to throw away papers just for the fact I hate clutter and papers laying around that are usually nonsense to have anyways but after these crap I am making sure I keep all my receipts for now on cuz of this. Something similar also happened 3 weeks back with a 300$ transaction from paypal. So if I didn't check for the past month paypal would have stole 600$ from me. Seriously guys, just imagine how much money these crooks are stealing from people that have high activity money exchanges on a everyday basis. Sometimes you wander if people make a business just like this to scam people or actually are there to help each other out. With things like this goin on in the world, people like this tend to make the world a very untrusting place to be in anymore. Better straighten it up paypal or you will just be one less pal that I will ever deal with.

Uduelig kundeservice.

Jeg kontaktede Paypal, da min konto var blevet brugt til at lave en overførsel til BMC Digital Limited (en butik på ebay).

Jeg blev oplyst om, at jeg ikke kunne få mine penge retur, da der var tale om "en
mistænkelig eller potentielt bedragerisk e-mail", hvilket ikke giver nogen mening.

Jeg har ellers tidligere været glad for at bruge PayPal, men føler mig helt til grin nu.

Sorted out my problem well

On the 26th of December made an online booking with Monarch and at the end of the process indicated PayPal as the method of payment the system indicated that the payment was unsuccessful I therefore paid using my Debit Card that was successful.
However a short while later on checking my emails I discover a email from PayPal confirming payment.I immediately contacted Monarch to advise them of a double payment they were adamant that only one payment was received
from my Debit Card.
The following day when checking my Bank Statement two payments had been taken by Monarch one from my PayPal account and the other from my Debit Card I called Monarch again interesting to note the Customer Service Number is a 0871 number.They again denied that two payments were taken and were most unhelpful.
I sent them two emails and tagged them on facebook all without response.
I had no idea how I would be able to receive a refund.
I decided to contact PayPal to see if they could assist.The Guy I spoke to on a nil cost phone number was very helpful and able to arrange a refund from Monarch without delay "What a Relief" and how very different from Monarch who to this day have not once acknowledged my contacts let alone offer me an apology or at least an explanation of what went wrong.

WORST PAYMENT SERVICES EVER!!!!!

Never again will I use bill me later or pay pal. At least if I used my credit card and did not get what I payed for they would refund my money. I purchased a security camera system on ebay through bill me later and I received the box with half of its contents missing.....Paypal informs me that I will get my full refund if I return the product, however they wont refund me the 30$ It would cost to send it back! Terrible customer service! Thanks for nothing paypal!

Terrible customer service.

Sold an iPod in November, they said the money would be in the account by christmas eve and still have not received the money yet. They also blocked my account for unknown reasons and haven't yet sent me a letter to help me reactivate the account. This was last year.

I got ripped off of almost $600 on items I returned to the sender on Ebay. Paypal did nothing to help. They advertise bogus claims on guaranteed purchases. Go shop Amazon at least they are more honest and reliable!

Elendig service

Paypal bruger en virkelig dårlig kursomregning, så man føler sig snydt!!
Lad være med at bruge Paypal til betaling. Hvis din vare skal returneres til sælger, og du har betalt med Paypal, bliver det tilbagebetalte beløb til dig fratrukket et stort gebyr!!
Så står man og har tabt penge... måske rigtig mange penge på et gebyr.

Vil aldrig bruge det igen!!

The worst possible customer service ever

I will not recommend paypal to a single person. I signed up for the paypal smart connect card, and when I received it in the mail, I activated it. When I went to make a purchase I was unable to use the card. I called customer service and they were anything but helpful. I finally got to speak to someone after being hung up on by a representative 6 times. The person that I spoke to said that my card was not linked to my account and that I would have to wait an additional 4 days, and there was nothing else that could be done. I will be closing this card and not using paypal anymore.

Problem

I cant seem to read or download their spending and payments made balance sheet.
They make it very difficult. I think that they are asking me for more money than I actually owe, but cannot seem to get the right activity sheet. I am rating them two stars, for this reason. Also, hard to understand them on the phone.
