Diabolical service
bought a game a few years ago which didn't work on my pc, took it back and it worked for them, so they refused the refund (ironically took the game to GAME and got more money back for it as a trade-in).
A few weeks ago, I needed a new mouse and keyboard for my new pc. Went to the local pc world and a man came over to help, the idiot wouldn't listen to me, kept suggesting the more expensive wireless mice and keyboards which I explicitly stated I did not want. I ended up going to maplin where I knew the staff were not complete idiots.

Poor Product and Poor Service
I bought for my 11 year old an Advent 4211 Notebook, which turned out to be the worst purchase I have ever made.
To cut a very long story short, I originally went into PC world to get a HP but was sold this one. The operating software crashed after about a week and it went back and forth to PC world until they then blamed it on a battery and charging eror which was not covered under the warranty.
Ended up taking it to a friends computer shop and was told that the processor was faulty and he had to literally rebuild it. Now works perfectly! The Tech Guys really are not!! Dont waste your money or time with PC World.

Poor After Service
This is one of those companies that will do anything to sell you the newest and best pc, but 8 months later when the thing stops working, all they want is more money from you as it "isn't covered by the insurance".
Their prices are not that great either. I often go in there now and later look online for the same item only to find it much cheaper.

Nightmare service
I bought a LCD from them, the TV arrived after 10 days the phone lines are always busy and takes too long to talk to someone and finally if you can talk they give you all different reasons not to give you refund

Not the best but certainly not the worst
I have bought many items from pc world.Generally i have had not many problems but when they do arise it can be a bit like pulling teeth when getting things sorted if you call or email. I have found that if you buy in store problems are sorted much more easily. One word of warning though if you do buy a pc or laptop from them if they talk you into buying software or extras with the package then do not under any circumstances use the extras until you know the pc or laptop/whatever it might be works as it should. If you do use the extras they will generally not refund but you can still get replacement if the fault is detected as soon as you use it.

Caveat emptor - a customer service nightmare
Order with free delivery placed online and confirmation email recieved, only to later receive cancellation/declined email. Customer services unable to help but advised to re-order as stock was now in (why can't an IT Services company do this automatically?!). Re-ordered with cust. services on phone confirming my order had been reserved only to get the same response (confirmation followed by cancellation emails due to lack of stock).
This resulted in a nightmare of long phone calls (over 2 hours) to people who only have a script to work off, no authority to authorise things and just want to get you off the phone by promising what you want to hear.
One advisor was actually rude on the phone! They won't give their names (company policy - for "fear of retribution" apparently!), refusal to pass to higher management or give out the head office number (it's 01727-202086 btw)
Now in sticky position of explaining to a 9 year old that we were unable to get her birthday present due to PC World's complete dis-interest throughout. Still awaiting return phone call from head office to discuss!
I have spent thousands in their stores but never, ever again.
This whole episode has cost sleepless nights, hours of time on 0844 numbers (at 5 - 10p/per min) and no item despite promises all round.

At PC world customer service is a foreign language
Briefly they sold me a machine that wasnt up to the spec on the sheet, I returned it for another that electrecuted me and so they sold me another that was not as described on the point of sale. I have asked them for a machine that is up to the job I require and clearly specified which would be like the ones on the point of sale had they been worded correctly and not twisted but they refuse. I was in tears in the shop and got barely a grunt out of them and practically computer says nooo response. Im now having to complete a moneyclaim form to take them to court to get a refund. Customer service seems to be none existent in PC world's world and watch what you are buying, check on the manufacturers sites before you do as they make things look better than they really are.

What a joke
Not sure what training they provide or perhaps they thought a girl is an easy target, but when asked why the difference in prices between different things they didnt have a clue. I gave them the answer before i left. The word imbeciles springs to mind. Bit harsh, i know someone there must know what they are doing.
