PC WORLD ARE RUBBISH

Bought a laptop at Christmas for my daughter who has just started university. Yesterday 4th February, only 5 weeks after it was bought, the lap top won't boot so she took it back. Was told it would have to be sent away for repair which would take about 2 weeks and she would have to pay £80 for data recovery!!! Absolutely disgusting. Our local computer repair shop does data recovery for £40 but this apparently would invalidate the warranty. If you are buying from PC World beware, i personally will never purchase from them again.

robin hoods of the computer world

Required a new tablet has I had broke my old and very out of date one so searched the web for info and reviews on the latest tablets on the market. After a lot of research I ended up with two on my list, a cheap and chearfull one and a top of the range one, both sold at PC world so went to have a look. Both tablets I had shortlisted were on display along with others, on speaking to a member of staff about requirements I was shocked that he proceeded to try and sell me a tablet that was so out of date you had to burn coal to run it? I know you get what you pay for but this tablet that was once owned by Noah was £30 more then the cheapest I had reviewed and the tablet specs spoke for them selves. To me it looked like the assistant had been asked to try and sell that tablet and the needs of the customer came second? Bought the top model! But feel sorry for anyone wanting help about a tablet and receiving bad information and buying a tablet not suitable, not worth the money when there were better options available. Thanks for the internet you can get all the information you need but you shouldt have to do that.

Good Service Overall

I purchased a printer at PC World in Dublin about a year ago. Did not work when I got it home. Brought it back next day. Got a refund. A few days ago I purchased a laptop that turned out to be a total piece of junk. Blank screen. Would not load. Keyboard typed wrong characters. Brought it back next day. Full no hassle refund to my credit card. (Have receipt but still tracking until credit has completed in my account. I expect it to be good.) I found all the Individuals and managers I interacted with to be very helpful. However I have to wonder how I could leave the store with such a junker after all the service and tech analysis. Would it have been different had I brought it back say in a week instead of the very next day? I would love to be able to bill for the wasted time. They gave me a complete refund and customer service overall was good. After my printer and laptop experience it makes no sense to return or recommend. Take the refund and run. PS all the staff were very good.

No Refund after 5 weeks

I purchased a laptop from PC World in Stirling on 28/12/2013 and returned it on 01/02/2014 as it would only boot to a black screen.
On asking for a refund the manager then told me he would repair it or as a favour as I was outwith the company 21 day rule I could have a replacement.
What a joke a PC should last more than 5 weeks and if it does not you should be able to get your money back.
Steer clear of shoddy trading practices who quote terms and conditions on the back of a receipt when you complain.

Bad shopping experience

I ordered a Desktop PC from PC World online, but was delivered a Laptop instead with my name on the delivery note, but with a totally different product code to the code on my original order confirmation.
I refused to accept delivery of the laptop which I hadn't ordered, and it took many phone calls(which cost me) and emails over two weeks to get my money refunded.
Emails from Customer Services gave the impression that they thought they had not wronged, and that I was lucky to get the refund - no apology for sending the wrong item.
I won't deal with this company again, nor with the rest of the Dixons group.
The delivery and communication from DPD the delivery company was faultless - the problem lies within PC World itself.

very bad service

Visited newly opened curry's/PC world superstore at Sydenham, London today to buy iPad air. Was told two in stock. Sales rep asked ( pressure selling) to buy cover and bundled pacakage. When refused to buy the cover etc in same breath was told by the same sales rep no iPad in stock try another store. Completely liars. Will not visit again.

FANTASTIC SERVICE

I broke my laptop which is worth 750..it was still under manufacturers warranty, but as they only cover your product for technical issues not accidental damage or liquid.I realised that when i purchased my laptop i had also purchased pcworld extended warranty namely whatever happens. So i went into the store the guy at knowhow bar was so polite and helpful he explained me everything that how it works,as i was on their premium plan i was entitled to get a loan laptop and my faulty laptop would be sent away for repair and the time period was maximum 7 days otherwise they would replace it with a brand new one.
After reading the reviews i was worried as i won't be getting what i was entitled to,but it was all false as i received a call from customer services that you can go to the store and collect the laptop.it is unbelievable that after 5 days my laptop was fixed and ready for collection.since then the laptop is working perfect.
i was so happy and paid upfront one off for whatever happens instead of paying 9.50 a month which works out to be more expensive but hess it is worth to have whatever happens ..
THANK YOU PCWORLD

New computer was slow and not fit for purpose. Engineers damaged old computer

Bought ASUS 2gb memory computer with Windows 8.1. Had been told by ASUS that Windows didn't support Android. (RUBBISH - as I found out from some expert tech guys). Anyway, wanted it to run Office, games and nothing special. No Black Ops! Got them to do data transfer. They didn't phone when it was ready. Took 3 calls. On a premium number, of course. Got it home. It was slow, hanging, not right for square screen. I could have made a cup of tea whilst it thought about running some programs. Totally unfit for purpose and what I wanted. Heck, I have an old XP Professional running 2 x 512 DDR which was quicker than this thing. Realised on the day I got it home that it was pretty useless. Packed up the computer and tried to reinstall the old (good) one. They had messed that up too and fortunately I am not unwise so I could fix the bios problem. When I went back to the store, they refused a refund. The considered that I was a stupid, middle aged woman who knew nothing. They said that I had refused to buy the more expensive model (oh really!) with 4gb ram. However, they would have to run diagnostics to see if it was faulty and if it wasn't (according to them, of course) , they said they would phone with the results the same day. The lovely tech guy said, in an aside, that he would have given me a refund there and then, but of course it had to go to the sales orientated management. Of course, they didn't phone. I shall be going back in the morning and if I don't get a refund, I will have no hesitation in standing there and informing potential customers of their "prowess".

I had considered going to a company called Ideal Computing in Edinburgh who I had dealt with before. How I wish I had gone with my gut instinct and gone there and paid a few extra pounds for a better machine, better service and better management attitude.

I will let you know how I fare with PC World tomorrow.

Excellent service at Staines

After about six months of working perfectly my printer refused to work. As it was still under guarantee I returned it to the store and I expected them to send it away to be repaired. However, as I had taken out 'whatever happens' I was offered a replacement on the spot. I was even given a refund as the identical item is now cheaper! Polite and courteous staff. I'm very happy with the service received in the Staines branch.

Extremely rude staff in Canterbury Branch

Never seem to get it right at PCWorld in Canterbury, bought an ipad and asked for a specific "Three" SIM, and was given a know how one instead without being asked! Then "Gruff" the Team Leader told me that O2 runs off Three's network and tried to fob me off. Ended up getting a refund for the SIM, and couldn't be bothered to log a complaint as all the staff I spoke to seemed incompetent or telling me things that weren't true (one even told me that the ipad had to be sold with a SIM......) - one word, AVOID! And also if you have any problems with this store demand to speak to the manager, Gruff had no clout and is definitely in need of customer service training.

They are big liar

I sent my computer to them ask repair and data rescue.I paid 50 for reinstall and 80 for data save, I even paid 60 for memory drive.

After 2 weeks, Their IT team called and tell me my PC is fine and it is back. Therefore, I went to shop and get my PC back. I trust them. Didn't check my PC. After I went back home and used my PC, I found my PC has not been repaired. They lost my memory drive!

I went their shop again. They even tell me I need pay 41 to buy a hard drive. Why don't don't tell me at when I went to their shop at first time or why not thier IT team let me when they rang me!!!!!

They are absolutely liar. Oxford street shop did really bad custemor service, even their manager does not care custemor.

!!! They even ask me shut up!!! They did these ridiculous things but ask custemor keep slicience. They are rubbish! If any of my friend ask my option, I will tell them my this bad experience.

I will never use PC world again.

Gift cards expiry date WHAT A RIP OFF!!!

How does this company get away with an expiry date on a gift card?? Someone has paid good money for that gift voucher and they have the money for that piece of plastic they sold the customer. People get gift vouchers put them away if they don't require anything from that company at that time then they forget about them. In theory someone has exchanged money in place of a plastic card for someone to spend in their store. There should be no expiry date on gift cards. They are making thousands of pounds out of people who haven't spent their gift cards in time. What a rip off!!!!!! I have had some National Book vouchers for 8 years and only just spent them without any hassle at all. My advise to anyone would not to buy gift vouchers from Curry's or PC world. You can't calculate a date when they were purchased (no date on the card). Give them the cash or a gift card from a company that doesn't have an expiry date.

CURRYS - PLEASE AVOID CURRYS UNLESS YOU ARE A MASOCHIST (I AM NOT KIDDING).

I am utterly appalled. I have not had a worse experience in my life dealing with a company. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU AVOID CURRYS ALTOGETHER. AND PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR KNOWHOW SERVICES AND THE WHATEVER HAPPENS COVER. WHILE IT SOUNDS LIKE A REASONABLE SERVICE, THEY ACTUALLY NEVER GIVE YOU A STANDBY LAPTOP OR A NEW REPLACEMENT LAPTOP. DURING THE FIRST YEAR AFTER PURCHASE, THEY DO NOT KEEP A TRACK OF REPAIRS ON YOUR PRODUCT AND BECAUSE OF THIS REFUSE TO REPLACE A FAULTY PRODUCT. The staff is staggeringly incompetent and they are utterly clueless. I have had three people tell me three different things and confuse me thorughly. Since I have a busy life, I am unable to sue these morons. I REITERATE, YOU WILL NEVER GET A STANDBY LAPTOP or a REPLACEMENT EITHER, so take my advice and do not pay for their whatever happens services. It is very expensive and you get nothing out of it. All you do is run from pillar to post and wait upto two weeks to get a repaired ultrabook which will promptly crash in two months. THEIR REPAIRS ARE SO FAULTY THAT ITS UNBELIEVABLE. I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP AT CURRYS AGAIN and advice all of you to stay away as well.

Never, Ever buy Anything from them!

It's just taken me over 2 1/2 MONTHS to get a problem with a DVD player resolved! Luckily it's not an essential item, just hassle that I haven't been able to watch anything since the4th November when a problem was reported. Imagine if it was an essential item like a washing machine, cooker, fridge etc., what trouble you'd have been in.
In fact my fridge went bust while waiting for this repair and I bought a replacement from a reputable company, even though it was dearer, I'm never going to risk this happening again. You only find the value of a company when something goes wrong and this lot are useless. You are dealt with by a company called Know-How who must look after their warranty work. They should be done under the Trade Descriptions Act, they don't know how to do anything right. For the first Month they had me ringing a company called Noise UK to arrange a repair, (all on Premium numbers) only to be informed they don't deal direct with Know-How customers and to get back to them. All they did was give me alternative numbers to the same effect. Eventually they found the reason was that Noise UK didn't repair Panasonic goods!
They even instructed me to contact Panasonic direct to get a repair done myself till I told them the rules of the Sale of Goods Act that instigating a repair was their responsibility, not mine.
On the 2nd December they said they wouldn't repair it and asked me to pick a replacement. I did this by 'phone (Premium number) on the same day. DPD picked up the faulty player on 3rd December. By the 20th December nothing had happened, despite various e-mails, and they then informed me that, yes the unit had been picked-up, but they had not yet received notification from their warehouse that it was in stock! I was therefore waiting because of their warehouses inefficiency!!
On the 8th January 2014 they told me my alternative was out of stock and to pick an alternative, or ask for a refund. As you can imagine I jumped at the refund, the quicker I can get rid of this shower the better. It took them till yesterday 20th January for me to receive it. I actually reported them to Trading Standards on the 4th January and it was only after that that things really did happen.
I know I've gone on a bit with the detail but it's only to stress how serious I am that nobody buys from this rubbish company anymore, they really deserve to go out of business so no one else has to suffer hassle from a firm with such abysmal customer service.

Absolutely shocked

I recently damaged my motherboard on a gaming machine that I purchased from Pc world when trying to install a new GTX 770 graphics card from Nvidia worth £300.

This card was not faulty as I installed it into my cousins gaming rig the night before to see how the latest games performed.

Anyway to cut a long story short the store kindly agreed to send off my machine to one of there repair centres to install a new motherboard as I have the what ever happens cover.

10 days later I receive a phone call to say your machine is ready for collection. I arrived at the store and a member of the knowhow guys gave me the paperwork to show what they have repaired. It said replaced motherboard, memory and graphics card. I was what the hell, what do you mean you have replaced the Graphics card, they have only gone and replaced my new gtx770 for a GT 440 that was made in 2010 and is only worth £40 from Amazon. They have stolen my new gtx 770 worth over £300 and put something else inside. I honestly cant believe it, the techy guy there told me it must have been faulty, I told him this was theft and to call the manager asap. I explained to the manager that this is unacceptable and I want my card returned ASAP. They rang the repair centre and asked why they exchanged my card etc etc. The repair centre are now trying to find my 770 or have agreed to replace it for exactly the same, if they cant they will write me a credit note.

Sorry for going on but I am so angry at the moment, I cant believe they have taken my card and put something sh!t inside, it is shocking. I know I should have taken the card it out before sending it off but who would think they would steal it. I am glad they have agreed to replace it like for like.

awful!!!!!

Wanted a tablet before Christmas, boyfriend went to buy it and they told him they have none and to come back a week later and they would definitely have it in, he went back and still no product... Told him it would be in after the new year, went back at beginning of Jan. And they still didn't have it in! So we changed our minds and chose a different one which again was out of stock. They said they will get one from leeds (I'm from York) and that it would be here within the week. As he was paying, they sold us the wrong product which meant he had to be refunded and start all over again. Once the product was amended, they then sold us protection cover which little did he tell us started from that day he paid!! (basically paying insurance for something we haven't got!!) 9 days later we went to see where our product was after trying to get hold of them on the phone (to which they never bothered to get back to us) we laughed at the fact they still haven't got the product yet!! I could have driven to leeds to pick it up myself and get home again in an hour!!! We spoke to the manager who sold us it who said within the week and all he had to say was "I never said it would be here like that" whilst cockily clicking his fingers. My boyfriend got seriously angry at this point and replied with "yes I do know it would not of been here like that but it's been 9 days!!!!!" whilst also clicking his fingers in the managers face! I don't blame my boyfriend! I was nearly in tears I was that fed up! It was supposed to be my 21st birthday gift from my boyfriend and the whole experience has been ruined!!!! Rude staff and incompetent management!! I feel like I never know when I'll get this product and also IF I'll ever blooming get it! I'm awfully disappointed!

don't buy anything unless you can take it away with you, and then don't trust there'll be any customer service

Bought a galaxy note in store, 2 weeks later and after much agro and I still don't have it, and to cap it all when a galaxey note was meant to be delivered by hand this morning they left a galaxy tab. In order to get a refund you have to return it to store yourself at your own expense and no refund is possible until the item has been returned. The store manager is unwilling to talk to me on the phone - obviously the buck stops at the bottom.
DO NOT BUY FROM PC WORLD, even if it appears good value, it'll cost you more in the end.
