You have to invent another way of rating because the star rating doesn't work for PC World - I don't want to give them even one star.
I have been to their shops in Old Kent Road and in High Street Kensington. In both shops the customer service is non-existent. I don't know exactly how their recruit their people, but it seems that the main characteristic you must have to be working there is to be rude, arrogant, obnoxious, and most importantly, not to know anythying about the stuff you sell.
I can only wish PC World go down the same root as Comet, and one day they dissappear from our land for ever.
i work in retail and the compant i work for sell product of far higher value than that of what i bought for PC WORLD and if there a problem with the warranty then it's down to us to exchange or refund and than take it up with our suppliers.
It seems not to be the case with PC WORLD who just want to fob you off and blame someone else.
I bought a cheap PC £350 just to get me out of a problem for 6 months until i could afford to buy a better one but after 7 weeks the hard drive went on it so took it back accepting to get a exchange for one that worked only to be told that it's nothing to do with them and they would need to send it off to the supplier as it was past there 21 days returns policy and that it would take upto 28(maybe longer).
My contact of sale was with PC WORLD and not there supplier so as i'm sure you can guess was a little upset by this.
This just a temp computer for me as i cant do without one but when i bought it didnt have the money to buy one i really need. PC WORLD your lose as i will never never buy from you again.
I even offered to buy a £1200 lap top on the day if they would refund for the faulty pc i returned and still got told NO.
Travelled 20 miles to the hayes store which had a tablet in stock - they refused to price match carphone warehouse with no reason whatsoever. At first claimed that they only price matched with 3 stores, then claimed it was a different model (which is clearly wasn't). They were also extremely disinterested and rude.
Travelled a further 15 miles to another store, the manager said that they had been told to try to avoid proce matching with carphone warehouse and showed me an internal memo but begrudgingly did so as they couldn't find a legitimate reason not to.
Last time I'll use this shambolic company.
My daughter had bought a 7" tablet for her daughter with full insurance, if it broke, they'd replace it, a couple of weeks later it broke,we visited the shop in Aintree, they didn't have a replacement.
The assistant informed my daughter it would take two days for another one she picked. She phoned during this week to be told it had been in since last Saturday.
I visited the place earlier to be told it wasn't in, a round trip of ten miles last week, another tonight, it's one big grin of a company. They will never have our custom again.
I have been waiting 2 months on the Isle of man for a nexus 7, unable to order on line because their gift cards dont work on line !! You have to be in store.
They will not order one for you, but you tell to keep checking the website for stock ??
etc etc....I could go on.I will order elsewhere from now on...So frustrating to deal with.....another large company were no one gives a S**t :((
- Staff have no idea about computers, me enquiring ended up in me teaching them something....idiots.
- A member of staff had no idea what a DVI cable was....oh dear..
- Prices are horrendous...I can't see them lasting long
- KNOWHOW? KNOWNOTHING....I had to take the phone from the women at tech desk and explain 5 times what my laptop fault was...only for the tech to say.....oh why didnt you say...... WOOOSHH
- Treat you like a thief when you want a refund
- Have no idea what stock they have in, and one occasion one salesperson didn't know how to check!!
- KNOWHOW sent back Laptop with same fault, not even been looked at.
Will never use them again or Curries.......I think they will be out of business soon.... My last visit I managed to log into 2 Laptops, and I went onto youtube, and played the Watchdog article from BBC, turned up full and walked out

They sold me faulty laptop and when it broke down after 2 months they charged me £80 for saving my data. When i complained i was told (of course after over a month waiting for their respond which at the end i had to ring them and asked them why i haven't received any reply yet) that it was my fault not saving everything on USB key. If i knew that it will break down while i was working on my assignments i wouldn't work on it at all. Laptop didn't ask me 'have you saved everything on your USB key i think I am going to break down'. I understand things break but not new things and not when you pay so much money for it!!!! £80 absolutely disgraceful. I will never shop there ever again and whoever have a choice go somewhere else. Not worth it
PS: There are so many bad reviews I think it is about time someone starts paying attention to it...
I was looking for a new laptop, after a bit of research found one on the pcworld website. It was available in different colour choices so I thought a black finish would be better...oh, that was more money (£430). Oh well I'll go for a blue one, nope none left, ended up reserving a purple one for £399 as it wasn't available for home delivery. So I went down to the store to collect my reserved laptop. Whilst I was waiting for the staff to come over I noticed the laptop I had ordered. There was a black one for the same price as the purple one for £399 (hang on a min, they were different prices on the website). Eventually someone came over to help I told them I was after this particular laptop in black. Off he goes to go and get one, comes back to say there aren't any. He looks on the store computer, great he can order one and they'll deliver it. (remember the website listed it as not available for home delivery) Brilliant I'll do that then. So he tries to order it, only he doesn't know how. Tells me to go home and order online. I remind him it's more expensive online and not available for home delivery...again.
He then tells me to come back in store the next day and someone else will be able to order it for me.
I return to the store the next day....the price has gone up !!! Not just the black one but all the colours. I get to speak to someone about ordering the laptop in black and I tell them what had happened. He said it was now the new price unless I'd reserved it....I had, I never told the guy the day before I'd come to collect it. So this guy now asks who dealt with me the day before. Just as he said that the guy from the day before walked past so I pointed him out. Great now I've got 2 numpties to deal with. Between them they call up my reservation....it's been cancelled by head office they tell me. The reason why because of the price increase. I asked to see the manager. a young kid comes over who then tells me that I need to spend more money to get £30 off the laptop price and that there is nothing I can do.
So basically you reserve something which gets cancelled so they can increase the price....hmm I think a little chat with trading standards might be in order.
What a bunch of retards. I will never shop here again, they're just incompetent idiots. They need to up their standards and quick before they follow comet.
Bad company, ripped me off now three times... first time shame on them second and third time shame on me. :(
First time i got a desk top which lasted just over a year then the second time is that i took it to them to repair and it needed a new motherboard and power supply which cost a fortune.
The third time i bought a sony vaio laptop just last year 20/12/12 and it is now broken,
i am now in talks with sony because pc world told me it sonys responsability to fix it!!
even though i payed for it at pc world.
I visited the currys pc world branch in colliers wood today. I never realised how thick some customers can be and patient the staff are when dealing with these customers. A customer was interested in buying an iPad but she didn't know what it did and what it looks like. I was so shocked. How can you want something if you don't know what it does or even what it looks like. The staff in this store are very helpful and knowledgeable. They are expected to know all products from washing machines to laptops. I would recommend visiting this store but it really annoys me when I go in and I have to wait a while to be served because certain customers haven't done their homework and expect to be spoon fed.
Ordered a Samsung Laptop online on the 29th November 2012 as a Christmas present. It was shown on their website as "In Stock". I got a call from PC World to verify my identity on the same day as I placed the order and was advised that the laptop was being dispatched that day. A week later I got an email telling me that they didn't have my laptop in stock and it wouldn't be available till the 7th Jaunary. It's now the 16th and I'm still waiting for it. Never Ever EVer use PC World. I'm on hold with them now and the guy has no idea what is happening to my order and is now speaking to a manager. They have had my money since 29th Nov!!!
We went into the Stevenage store in Roebuck retail park last Thursday to purchase Samsung 55" 3D TV. There was hardly any body in there but 3 assistants spent around 20 minutes just talking to each other and just completely ignored us. I guess the boss was out so they were not interested in selling us anything so in the end w just walked out and purchased our product somewhere else!
Customer service is certainly not one of their strengths by any stretch of the imagination!

Chesterfield Branch at the retail park.
Today I went to PC World looking to buy a couple of pieces of electrical equipment that worked out at a couple of hundred pounds, not cheap. The service was disgusting, one young woman told me 'you'll have to ask someone else' when asking a very simple where can I find question. Can you believe this young lady was chatting with what looked to be her friend and continued chatting after basically telling me to sod off.
Then the actual store manager told me 'she's was to busy right now serving other customers' the overall service was disgusting. Never in my life will I shop at Currys/PC World again ever I will go to John Lewis to receive the customer service I deserve when parting with my hard earned cash.
This isn't the first time this company has had rude uninformed staff the overall customer service is nothing short of abysmal. AVOID!!!
I am disgusted!
I write this letter to try and explain and show how poorly PC World treats its customers. Their customer service is diabolical and unfit for purpose. It takes ages to be answered and when eventually answered they cut you off, especially when you ask to speak to someone more senior or they just pass you on. Every time you start from scratch trying to explain the problem and each time you either get lied to, treated with contempt, or simply get told another story. As for contacting by e-mail they simply get lost and/or ignored! So I urge everyone to take note before deciding to make a purchase from this company .I have since found my experience is only one of many that shows why it is rated so low by its own customers. My family and I would certainly never be using them again!
I was always a little concerned but it was the only company that claimed to have stocks of my daughter’s Christmas present to-be: ‘A Nexus 7 32GB Tablet’. So on the 26th Dec: 2012 I tried to order and collect one from my local store in one hour .Note: It was only half way through the transaction that I found that in fact; the one hour collection was in fact no longer available. I would have to wait and receive one by post guaranteed on the site 31st Dec: 12. As I could not find when stocks would be in stores I placed this order. - A Massive Mistake!
On the 29th December I noticed the local stores were now in stock, so I rang Customer Services to see if I could change from delivery to collect in store as my order had not been fully processed yet. Note unlike some other firms my card had been already charged though and I was refused this option! I was informed my card would take 3 days to be reimbursed and as the advisor who I spoke to sounded very ‘charming’ and guaranteed that it would be delivered on the 31st. I left the order as it was. I asked his name, he quickly replied with short name that I had never heard of and that was that-Or So I Thought!!
The 31st December my daughter was excited and I got up early ready for the “GUARANTEED DEL’Y,”
It was when I had waited in most of the day that I tried to contact Customer Services again to find out where my delivery was. Eventually I got through only to find out I had been conned and the person from the 29th was a liar, in fact I was told that his first name was : ”Brian”, according to the information that customer service could see. In fact when I repeated what he had said to me. I was told not to worry as he would be reprimanded for his actions. - “Another lie?” By this time I was very angry with all the wasted time and phone calls and still no ‘Nexus 7’ for my daughter, so I told this operative (Laura) to cancel my order and refund my card asap. She agreed to do this and just to make sure I sent an email via my account stating this very clearly. An end to it? No only the beginning!
Firstly instead of sending me notification of cancellation etc I received an email notification of exchange! As they were unable to supply me in the first place why on earth would you expect me to return something that had not even been sent out and in fact had been cancelled? Except of course: to punish me for cancelling the order, to keep my money as long as possible and cost me a fortune in phone calls, interest on credit card etc. That doesn’t even mention all the hours emailing, phoning, waiting in unnecessarily, which has ruined my families Christmas! Note as soon as I received this notification I questioned it but was only told “the computers were playing up so just ignore the e- mail. As you can see Lie was following lie after lie!!
Nina Rowe a manager at PCW eventually agreed that as the parcel had not been sent to Royal mail yet, then she would be able to get back to me and send me a notice of cancellation and refund but I had to still wait in and refuse to accept the delivery, even though it hadn’t even been sent!.
At present on my account my original order still shows up with money being paid and no cancellation. This was queried before to many times to count, by many emails and phone calls. As for the emails they suddenly went missing and all the people at Customer service were either: impossible to contact, plain rude, unhelpful and all giving different stories and explanations. I cannot be bothered writing any more at the moment as all the tress caused by this has made me so frustrated that I have been made ill. If the company actually wants to keep its customers then I suggest you start listening to people, stop telling lies and eliminate certain members of its staff. Oh and of course reply to email. Contacting PC World is a nightmare and practically impossible Also, it’s amazing how after complaining my telephone number
started receiving countless anti -social calls from withheld and international sources- Just like last time when Curry’s where involved.
Note: Since this review I sent a copy of my phone bill, eventually receiving an apology of sorts, with an offer to ‘reimburse the cost of the hours of phone calls to them pcWorld eventually agreed to send a cheque and an e mail was received confirming it had been sent on the 20th January 2013. But it is March now and I am still waiting for the cheque and also an answer to an my email informing them of this.
WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY?
i bought a desk top computer from currys pc world aberdeen. told them i didnt want there cover.i received my bank statement and they had started a dierct debit. and took 9.50 out when i rang customer care they cancelled the direct debit and told me to go the store and get my 9.50 back.surely its illegal to take money out of my account without my consent.

Ordered a present 3 weeks before Xmas, PCW sent wrong item. Had to wait for wrong item to be returned to PCW before they would despatch the correct item.
Communication a JOKE!!
Have cancelled order, never order again PCW
I checked both in store and online about replacing my pc..
I hate to say this, but the staff had no knowledge about their products at all other than what was on the sales card. They were disinterested and clearly have had lousy customer service training as well as no technical training at all.
In the end i was told that they don't sell gaming pc's...but TBH their products are so very overpriced and under powered so there was no way I would have bought anything in the end.
More like I was asking a few technical questions and they were way out of their depth.
I spent 18 years in retail, and prided myself on excelling at all the things they simply don't do right.
Take my advice - don't even bother with PC World.
staff are absolutely rude and unwilling to help, i can't believe they are still in business. Please avoid at all costs, seriously all of them are useless idiots. They just try and con you into buying their product and after you pay, they wont give a toss about you.
Today i heard overhead one of the staff at the colliers wood branch calling a another customer " a fucking idiot, hope he gets hit by a car". I was absolutely shocked, i couldn't believe what I heard. I know for sure i'll never go to that store again.
i sincerely hope they go out of business like comets
The PC World and Currys in COLLIERS WOOD- their staff are absolute cons, imbeciles and disgustingly rude.
I've never posted a complaint about a company before but PCW takes some beating. I bought a laptop and accessories from PC World, total over £1000 cost. To cut a very long story short, I've experienced appalling service, technical failure, poor communication and, after 6 weeks, I'm still trying to get my money back. If you have a problem with the store their so-called "Customer Service" tells you its your problem. If you want any kind of peace of mind keep clear of PC World, whatever you do.
This company are the absolute pits, they are all of the above and more. The staff are untrained in customer relations and seem to go out of their way to be rude and unhelpful. If you can find an alternative I would advise you to do so unless you don't mind being abused and treated with the utmost disdain. to sum it up avoid them at all costs....if you don't believe me just look at the other reviews on this page.....they can't all be wrong. Of course they will not pay one bit of attention to these and just go on spreading dis-satisfaction and anger among their customers. AVOID.AT ALL COSTS....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !....The branch concerned is PC world Newtownabbey Belfast Northern Ireland......It would seem that the dis-satifaction with this company is UK wide.

I hardly ever use retail stores but this deal was the best on the market and I thought to myself "If others are managing it, what could go wrong?"
It went wrong.
The product was an Asus Nexus 7, price matched to Carphone Warehouse (whom had multiple stores in stock) at £179.99. And an official Asus Case for the device at £14.99 (dropped from £24.99). Plus the ability to apply for £20.00 cashback. Details of which and proof that others have had the same deal can be found at http://www.hotukdeals.com/visit?m=15&q=1381975 where I found out about it.
On Tuesday December the 4th I had a relative try a PC World store in Leeds (Elland Road) but they were out of stock and they said they would definitely price match Carphone Warehouse when they were back in stock. He then tried the Crown Point Currys PcWorld store in Leeds as they were in stock and the assistant (after asking a 'manager') flat out refused to honour the stores price promise and match Carphone Warehouse and instead tried to claim that the cashback offer was just as good and would eventually bring the price down to £179.99. Anyone with basic maths skills would know that £20 cash back would bring it down to £195 IF AND ONLY IF they had a £15 case. If not you'd probably end up spending more than £199.99. Not to mention you don't get the 10% off the difference of the price match either. The relative enlightened them about this and they were adamant that they could not do it even after being told that another PC World had already agreed to price match. The assistant claimed that they didn't and wouldn't check either, so to save wasting his breath, my relative left the store.
I rang the PC World sales team about the price match myself the following day (Wednesday 5th Dec) and was told that there was no reason whatsoever the store should have refused to honour the price promise and that if I returned to the store it should be honoured. So later that day I went myself. I spoke to an assistant named Neil and it seemed like they were ready to refuse the price match but I told them that I rang the sales team earlier and was told by them that there was no reason for them to refuse to do it. I also had webpages loaded on my phone to show them that others have had this done without issue. The assistant then said he couldn't offer the cash back so I challenged him on that with some more proof and mention of the T&C's. He relented and went to see his manager, came back, said he'd do it. He went to check Carphone Warehouses stock (who I might add are situated next door but one) and came back and asked which case I'd want. I went for the official case which was £24.99. At this point I hadn't noticed the case would in fact be £14.99 because it was bought together with the device. The assistant never mentioned this, nor was it in writing anywhere around the store. The only notice would have been on the website and on the receipt after purchase.
When I got to the till, he said "we're going to give you this as well" (in an apologetic tone - I was waiting for some time) referring to the Norton tablet security software (which he never mentioned before, nor was it mentioned anywhere on or around the product or price tag - which only displayed info about the cashback). I asked him as he placed it in the bag "and this is definitely at no extra cost?" he nodded and said that it wasn't. The total came to about £201, which sounded right after the £25 case. When I got home and checked the receipt, the case showed up individually as £14.99 and he had in fact charged me £10 for the Norton tablet security software, which I never wanted nor needed, just thought it was free as he said it was no extra cost. I should have checked the receipt in store but was in a pretty foul mood and it seemed to add up if the case was £25. It didn't appear as if it was part of a deal, as I said, there was no mention of it by him or on or around the product and he said it was no extra cost and said he was 'giving' it to me. He conveniently covered up the fact that the case was reduced to £14.99 and tricked me into paying £10 for another item as it would come to the same total as if the case was £24.99.
He lead me to believe it was free and it's not like he forgot to mention it because I straight up asked him if it was at any extra cost. If he told me I'd be charged for it I would have refused it as it was not something I would have been interested in purchasing.
I went back in on Saturday 8th December in regards to what had happened and managed to get a £10 refund for the Norton Tablet Security that was conned on to me. Best part was they didn't refute it, worse part was they didn't accept any form of responsibility nor offer an apology whatsoever. The other members of staff who stood around the till area whilst I was complaining even seemed to find the situation hilarious as I was walking away. This level of service is sickening not to mention putting your trust in an employee who then abused his position to knowingly trick you out of £10. Which isn't even much but it's the principle and who is to say this hasn't happened to other people over more expensive items.
Had I have known I might have just bought it sans case at Carphone Warehouse instead. While it's good to hear that some people have had no issues (although quite a few have), the discrepancy in service from store to store is just abominable.
Quite happy with the service. Seems everyone comes on here just to slate them !
I purchased a graphics card for my pc. After about 3 days of trying and failing to get the thing to work i brought it back to be told i had bought the wrong one for my system. I was given sound advice and couldn't be happier with the service. A bit of a geek myself i thought i knew it all but i was blown away by how much things have changed and the chap Graham was spot on with his knowledge
I went into Curry's/PC World at Maesglas in Newport today to purchase a printer...you can call me old fashioned but i was under the impression this would be a straightforward and easy transaction...find the printer you want and pay for it..how hard can this be!!! I was approached by an older female member of staff who asked if i needed any help...i asked her for the printer i wanted to buy and she immediately tried to sell me a more expensive one...she then went to a computer station to see if she could "locate" what i wanted even though the model i wanted was 2 feet away sat on a shelf!!...she lead me to the printer(by the way i forgot to mention that i had my 3 year old grandaughter with me who by this time was getting a bit restless, but was well behaved considering)...i looked at the printer and said "yep thats the one i am looking for i'll take one please"...she then tells me that i have to buy inks for it which were an extra £22.00..to which i replied " does the printer come with ink?" to which she said "no..there are no ink cartridges in the printer"...and that i would need to buy both black and colour ink cartridges...I then told her that i thought the cartridges were a bit expensive...she then took me across to the ink stand where they were on sale for £18.00???...i said ithought they were still a bit expensive and i would look on the internet for a cheaper alternative and was just about to walk away when she said
"Well the printer does have ink in it but it's not very much ink..it's a childs portion!!???)
Now i have no idea what she meant by this but to me she had just lost all credibilty because she had told me a lie to begin with!..at this point i was still prepared to take the printer and told her i would still like to buy one..but without the ink cartridges...Her attitude changed immediately and she said "ok they are over there go get one and take it to the checkout"...then she walked quickly away.
So i picked one up and went to the checkout where a very nice young blonde assistant greeted me with a smile..i got my money out to pay when she started to try to sell me "extra cover" for a further £12.00..i declined this and then she went into another spiel about the importance of having "extra cover"..i declined again and said "no thank you i would like it as it is"...at this point she was no longer friendly and proceeded to ask me for personal details such as email address,name,postcode...i asked her if i really needed to give her this information to which she said "yes i'm afraid you do"..Ok now i had enough and said "i think i'll leave it then"...quick as a flash she replied "ok bye" and took the printer off the counter and put it on the floor!!!!...
It's no wonder shops like this go out of business...this was one of the worst shopping experiences i have ever had...and i've had a lot i can tell you!!
I will never go to this store again..absolutely disgusting!!
Went into my local store to buy 3 of the above, got some snotty nosed kid giving me all the sales talk, point been pc world are advertising set up and 50 gb of storage for an extra £30,after not falling for the pressured sales talk decided to buy online which worked out £50 cheaper, on getting the note 10.1 out of the box realised set up was merely entering an email address and the 50 gb of storage came free with Dropbox, DO NOT buy this product from pc world do yourselves a favour go online and do your homework.
Bought a laptop which went faulty in three months, took it back for repair to the know how people who know nothing and are not allowed to touch anything, they sent it away for repair, I was told it was water spill problem and it had affected the mother board. They said it would cost 200 pound to have the board replaced. I refused and took it to my local computer shop who said the fault was just an operating system problem and they fixed it for 40 pounds. Don't ever rely on PC world or the know how team there as they don't give a toss. Lots of PC world and cUrrys products are made in china and won't last more than 18 months Never again will either of these company's get another penny from me.
Will never go back to this stupid and rude company!!!! I have bought hell of a lot of product in PC World, and other day bought Ultrabook for home delivery, the ultrabook has been on discount price about £300 off the original price. So I through I got a bargain instead I have headache and nothing. After few days after I had ordered ultrabook, they have sent me email confirming my purchase and CHARGED MY CARD!!!! and after a week sent my second email explaining that item I have purchased is out of stock and I need to wait longer then the promised time-scale. I through to myself OK, I can wait as I did not need an actual item until Christmas time, also I had phoned them up confirming that this item is still coming and will be delivered, women told me that, its all good and the item will be delivered to me as soon as they will receive it. But after another week they have sent me another email saying that order has been cancelled and their is nothing they can do about it. So I have started to argue with them, so then women told me OK, I can reserve it for you at the store and you will collected (P.S. Before I have placed my order, I had checked all local stores and none of them had it.). She had found one store near me which had two in-stock, so she said that she have asked personnel at the store to check it properly, so I would not go there for nothing. She come back to me and said that she has reserved an item and I can go and collect it. I went to the store and GUESS WHAT??? one of this ultrabooks has already been reserved before me and another one was display model, even after a deep clean it had scratches and dirt on it!!!! So I have refused to buy it. Then I have called customer services again and they did and said nothing useful absolutely anything, except the words which the guy kept repeating "WE CAN NOT HELP YOU AND DO ANYTHING IN THIS SITUATION!!!" So typical PC WORLD!!! Worst shop!!!!!! The moral is, why they charging you card before they even know if they will deliver an item at all!!! and why accepting an order on the first place!!!!!
I bought a copy of photoshop, a hard drive, mouse. keyboard and a monitor this week in the PC World in Stevenage. I returned the screen within the same day as the person who got it for got the wrong one, which was £30 more than the one I wanted. This was the start of my problems. The copy of photoshop had obviously been previously opened and upon loading the software it was already registered. I of course took this back, and received very rude service, was kept waiting for a total of around an hour then refused a refund as it was 'registered software'. I phoned their 'knowhow' service, who were even less help and in no short terms called me a liar. I refused to carry in a 21 kilo Mac Pro, and was told that if I can 'film what the screen says' I may be able to get a refund.
I now refuse to shop in there, I've finally learnt my lesson. Unless you go in there with a grand cash in hand to buy a new computer, they couldn't care less about you.
Oh, and I did a little mystery shopping of my own the other day, apparently Photoshop CS6 will work on a PowerPC based Mac G5. No product knowledge in there at all.

Bought a laptop and took it back within 2 hours because the space bar was not working. The technical person and manager Sam told me that this is the way it works and the will not be able to change it as it was normal. Never ever buy anything from that store. Went and got a second openion from another PCM world in lakeside and the technician immidiatly confirmed the fault and chafed it around. So pc world becton wasted 2 hours of my time and 30 miles worth of petrol for a fault they could have easily sorted. The customer service number was a little useless who initially agreed with me then transferred me over to tv support and then the other guy told me to take it back to the store!!!!! And gave me a ref: Cc0001897390. Still waiting For some feedback. The guys at lakeside also had the same openion of the becton store. Truly awful experience and will avoid them in future.
I bought a top spect i7 HP Laptop for £1100 in Aug 11, with the extended warranty for £300 extra for 3 years. Needless to say laptop PCB went faulty went in for repair once and came back fixed, worked for 5 mins and PCB burnt out again.
Collected 2nd time and this time wrote the laptop off over the weekend, not telling me how much they wrote it off for.
Monday I find out they allocated £449.99 for the laptop as that is what the i3, YES i3 is worth now. I kndly pointed out I paid 1100 for a i7, they insisted I had a i3 I was livid none the less, so went to store after much insistance on their part I was about to walk away as I had no proof they had my laptop and receipt I misplaced. EVENTUALLY I checked their in-house computer myself and scrolled down the laptop specs and the correct ones were listed, THE Title had the wrong specs but the rest of the page had the correct specs, so after this fiasco I find out that the laptop is now worth £800, and that was due to them claiming on the insurance policy so in effect I would lose that money as a claim had been made when there was no need to as it was less than a year old.
At one point their advisor was adamant an i3 back in 2011 Aug was worth 1100, I couldnt stop laughing as that ment the i7 would start around 2k mark for a basic spec. Specialists, pfff
After having wrote to their CEO and other senior members, cc'ing in as many people as I could I got my insurance money refunded as they agreed we should not have invoked the claim on your policy however they wouldnt bump up the voucher anymore than 800 so I lost 300 plus other expenses to and from their stores.
NEVER ever buy from them unless you want to be conned with bad advice, incorrect information and lies, NOTHING BUT LIES!
So far I have stopped 32 people buying from them who come to me for advice, after explaining my harrowing experience below most of them thank me, so please be warned they are not sincere when it comes to support when things go wrong
Paid £50 up front for a repair quote for my Acer Aspire laptop, as the screw mounts had broken on the upper casing.
Laptop was sent away to be examined by an engineer who stated that both the upper and lower cases required replacing. This was going to cost £214 to carry out the repairs.
Cancelled the repair as it would have been cheaper to buy a new laptop at that price. Laptop was returned after 2 weeks (eventually, and after numerous phone calls to PC World). Have sent the laptop to another computer shop, (not PC World) who have said that only the upper casing requires replacing at a cost of £57.50 for the part and £25 for labour.
Will never use PC World's services again or buy in their shop.

This is the only store I would say with the worst customer service I have ever been to in UK. Never ever would like to even go to the store, employees are just useless with some sort of attitude. If anyone need to buy something, google it and trust me you will find it cheaper and better customer service online. Simply hate PC World....
For those who may be a little confused, here's an easy guide to how Whatever Happens (Premier) works where they repair your machine within 7 days or you get a new one.
1) take sick laptop in. Oops, sorry, step 1 is really pay about 12 quid a month and get taken in.
2) they don't look at it on that day
3) you go in for a progress report
4) they then spring into action and promise that it'll be collected (as its a hard drive problem that you had to tell them about) the next day and be back nine (that's 9) days later.
5) you get notice that it'll be collected 4 days later than they said so won't be back until the following friday (now work this out people, that's fourteen, yup, 14, days later.
6) on seeing your anger at step 4, they say, don't worry, you have "premier" and that means you can have a loan machine whilst yours is away, errrrrrrr, subject to availability. You're a step ahead here I can tell, yup a loan one is not available right now.
7) you call up the good people at "knowhow". they tell you that a) it's 7 days from when you take the item into the store and b) that the stores don't keep loan machines in, they have to call in to get one released.
8) go in 7 days after the initial visit, make a fuss, point out their failings of which there are many, preferably to an audience of potential punters, and watch as a brand new laptop arrives at the counter, obviously minus any data that you had amassed on your old one.
9) Carry on paying monthly as this will happen again (this is my 2nd time with pretty much the same issues with WHEH and fend off attempts to sell you extra hard drive to back up for the next time.
PC World does not fulfil its promised delivery date and the customer service is literally dumb because instead of help the customer service regrets on the helpline. Not at all nice experience and seriously there is so much scope for any other electronic consumer goods giant to take over the market.
I bought 2 Toshiba Satellite laptops L750-22X on May 8th 2012. Within a week one of them developed a screen fault and had to be returned. It was replaced with the same make and model. Within 3 months the 2nd one developed the same fault + another fault and when I returned it they said, I was not entitled to a refund or a replacement, because it was past the stores 28 day returns policy. They said, it would be sent off for repair which could take 10 days. This policy is not law, and the company have breached my statutory rights under the sale of goods act 1979. I will be seeking legal advice and will take them for every penny I can get, for this disgraceful customer service shambolic policy.
I bought a 320gb Seagate external hard drive which kept cutting out when I was transferring over large files onto it. I took it back after reading the receipt carefully which stated "If your product develops a fault within 28 days we'll refund your money or replace it" This turned out to be a complete load of dung. Firstly the store manager at Burnley said she had to test it and transferred a small (a few mb) file onto it. When I told her it was only larger files she said "we'll I've just tested it and it's fine." I'm sorry but I did say larger files didn't I?
Anyway she then offered me a replacement which I declined and told her I would like a refund. She refused and when I stated that it said in the information on the receipt that they would offer me a refund she told me it was "at the store manager's discretion" . So, wanting to cut my losses I asked for an exchange, as previously offered, she then refused me that also!!! Claiming "I was going to do it out of the goodness of my heart" When I asked for a way to complain she fobbed me off with a phone number and so I came home called them up. To say their in store customer service is bad is one thing but their over-the-phone service is even worse. Firstly I was told by the young lady I spoke to that I should have been given a refund or an exchange and she then told me she'd put me through to the tech team. When I got through (after 15 mins) He told me that I wasn't entitled to a refund because It may be a "bad sector" on the hard drive which can be repaired. What a load of rubbish. If you Google Bad Sector it will tell you that this is one of the first signs of a hard drive failure. I t seems to me that this company are only happy if your money is well and truly in their pockets and don't give a damn about after sales service.
In short I shall NEVER purchase another thing from PC World again and will laugh my little socks off when they announce they're going under because of bad profits. I advise anybody thinking of purchasing from them to AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I purchased an ipad on contract for my lad, long story short I decided to opt out of the Contract
Agreement less than 24 hrs later, and buy not one ipad but two out right.Didnt believe this would be an issue after reading there returns policy! (After all I know my consumer rights) explained to the sales guy what I wanted to do, he said he needed to speak with his manager. WHY???????? I`m buying two ipads outright. Sales guy returns and said my Manager is willing to do this as a good will jester on this Occasion. I would have told him to stick it, but went ahead with the purchase as my kids wanted there ipads there and then. As it was there birthday!
I will never deal with Stockport branch again. CRAP EXSPERENCE
I have had so much hassle with Currys, from their push sales people (who by the way only want to sell Apple - even when you ask to buy a laptop) to their rip off insurance.
But the latest experience takes the prize. I bought a Samsung ES8000 from then 32 days ago, and it broke. They are refusing to replace it and blame Samsung. When I speak to Samsung they say it's up to the retailer to make that decision. I will never ever ever ever buy anything from Currys again. In addition to this the staff are incredibly rude
