Followed up with central customer services to let them know the £850 Ultrabook I had bought was given to me with a generic power cable, not the Samsung original. Also pointed out in the email that I would be prepared to ship them the incorrect one if they could ship me a replacement. I received a response saying I had to go to the store, but that the store manager would be made aware of the issue. I replied to let them know that the salesman had attempted to mis-sell (trick) to me when I was in store, and that the staff were atrociously non-customer focused and that I would not step back in the store, and that they shoudl either ship me the correct part or have the store manager call me to rectify their error. The response? 'Sorry we can't help you this time'. That's it? Did not address my request, no accountability, no desire to resolve the issue, no desire to take on board feedback, and completely ignored my comment about being mis-sold...there is a very very bad culture within this customer that is so far from customer centric it does actually amuse me, I wonder if the Chief Compliance Officer reads these reviews.
Eventually companies that operate like this always fail. It is a question of when not if.
As a loyal customer of PC World for several years, my laptop (a PC World own-brand model) caught fire last year! The product however, was just out of warranty and so I was quickly introduced to the real PC World-of-contempt for customers who no longer make protection payments! I explained that the product physically caught fire in the room next to where my daughter sleeps and that although the product was just out of warranty, I had been a customer of theirs for years. I explained that the product was a PCW own-brand and politely asked if someone could take a quick look simply to make it safe. Needless to say the scorn and contempt I was treated with by the store manager (Bury St Edmunds branch), left me feeling stupid for having spent so much money with them over the years.
A further conversation with a verbally abusive PCW telephone operative, (who tried to explain that the product wasn't unsafe because it wasn't actually on fire at the time of the phone call!!!!!!!!...I promise that literally happened!) only confirmed my feelings.
Please, please avoid these people at all costs. It was only after this experience that I searched the web and saw the sheer volume of negative reviews on PCW. There are so many better value alternatives out there now, avoid them like the plague :(
ordered a pc steering wheel, which they used yodel to deliver that in it self was bad (see my yodel review) anyhows I phoned up pcworld and cancelled my order, however they now send a replacement even after being cancelled to an address i no longer live at, and after several emails they are saying I never cancelled order acording to 'their' records. would advise anyone certainly not to order online from them.
I ordered a hard disk from PCW on Sunday to fix a family members laptop. Eagerly awaiting its arrival at a bargin £29.99 but then I get an email 5 days after order saying its out of stock and that they will cancel my order or order I can order a more expensive product.
So now its either pay £10 more to PCW or go back to my usual supplier that hasnt failed to deliver.
I never was a fan of PCW and after this experience I wont be using them again and I would adivse others to go to sites like ebuyer.com for their PC needs.
I purchased tomtom device from them and it wouldn't turn on. They simply told me to ring tomtom and sort it out with them - this was within 24 hours of my purchase. I rang my credit card company up and did a chargeback - simple as that, much simpler than dealing with a bunch of cow boys.
