The most worst company on planet earth. Don't deal with them !!! They don't respond to emails. They charged my credit card, but no service. Be carefully, they have hidden taxes. They overcharged my credit card with $1 - $2. 100% I want my money back!!!
I have E-mailed this company everyday this week and have E-mailed every department i could find contact info. for. I called Ibasis and apparently they don't work in their office because every extension I tried went straight to voicemail. I "opened" my account on Sunday they said i would be able to make calls on Monday. I responded to the verification E-mail and everything. Monday came and went with no service so I sent a couple of E-mails. After the second E-mail my account was disabled! I Have sent 5 E-mails and called multiple times as of right now the only response i have gotten was to refer my complaint to another department. This is such a pain. The biggest problem I have is that my fiancee is in Peru and I spent all my money for this weeks call with Pingo. So now i haven't been able to talk to her all week. The worst part of all is i can look and see where I've been charged on my bank statement. They say it's fraud prevention but it seems like I was the one who was defrauded. All I want is to receive the service I have paid for is that too much to ask? What's the problem with this company it's like they don't really exist!
This is the worst calling card company i have every tried to use. I opened an account, tried to access it, was unable to because my account was under review. I contacted customer service and was told that once my account was "approved" i would receive an email. I never received an email, got charged $20 because i supposedly signed up for automatic recharge when i was not even able to access my account.
Stay away from this company.....
Well i am glad i am not the only one that had problems. I can' hardly call my Familie in Germany the conection is so bad and most of the time i have no ring tone or in the mittle of the confersation it hangs up on me. you are right customer service is bad . not much help . i have $ 15 left and then i am done.
This company is a joke! Enter your credit card information, but you will NOT be able to use the calling any time soon or more likely NOT AT ALL.
I am still waiting to use mine & have given up altogether.
Now I have to spend a bunch of time filing complaints to get back my own money. I will NEVER use this company & neither should you.
I know the reply from Pingo about this will be that since they do not have contact information associated with my account, they cannot address concerns online, but who would post their email & phone # here??
I found this site only after signing up with Pingo - if I had read these before, I would have never signed up.
Unfortunately my experience is exactly as per most of the people below. I signed up, got asked for verification info over email, replied immediately with the information requested. After that, I have not heard anything back and am not able to use the service! I have therefore asked them to cancel my account and to refund me - let's see how that goes...
WOW!!! I am mesmerized how this company is still in business. I had used pingo for a while until i was disgusted out of my minds and was forced to switch to another company (localphone). what a huge difference. the calls went through every single time, and it was crystal clear. and the rate was less than half of what I was paying for this crap (calling to bangladesh costs only 3.15 cents, and india only 1.5 cents). anyhow, pingo kept sending me promotional offers (literally begging for my money) to sign up for 5 dollars and i will get 5 dollars free. thinking pingo might have improved, i opted to sign up for it. BIG MISTAKE. I never had any calls go through to bangladesh. Even the landlines didnt work. If i got paid for all the time i wasted to get through, i would be a rich man today. anyways, pingo is a horrible company. I can not describe in words how bad this experience is. Please, here is my request to everyone: NO ONE...NOBODY DO ANY BUSINESS WITH PINGO EVER AGAIN.
It is funny how the customer support people rebut all the posts as if they are listening to the complaints. hey customer support, if u r really doing ur job, why did everyone rate this company 1 star??? why do they keep rating it 1 star. obviously u haven't done squat to change anything. Here is a suggestion, fire these customer care liars and hire some engineers. or just return everyone his or her money and declare bankruptcy because honestly, companies like these should not be allowed to practice business and rob money from people. and PLEASE dont send out BS promotions to people when ur phone lines dont even work.
I hope i was able to convince everyone how painfull pingo experience truly is.
I have been using Pingo for a couple of years and happy with the service until this week.
I live in Australia and am attempting to call numbers in the UK that I have called many times before and for 2 days have been unable to get through. I receive message "Invalid number. Error 5".
I was successful in calling the USA this week, so am confused about what the problem is.
I've sent an message to Pingo via their web site and no reply (somehow not surprised about that). So now I am stuck. This is unsatisfactory service and I'd like a resolution from Pingo so I can stay in contact with my family. Trying here in case it somehow gets me a solution!
I was never able to establish service with PINGO. After two days of emails and phone calls I was told my account was cancelled. That was news to me because my account was never active! The only email I ever received from either "customer service" or "verification" was in response to my demand to cancel my service. Their response: "your service has already been cancelled." Stay away from this joke of a company.
I have used IP phone services like Ringomax, SkySipTel, DreamVoiz & Ring Asia. On a connection of 512k. They are as good as land connections. This one is the most horrible i have ever encountered. Sometimes the soft phone doesn't even register. The call quality reminds me of those cards i used in the late 90s and early 2000s. Even that experience was on a dial-up connection. They would have been better on a broadband.
They say its the 'Last card i would ever need', i think its 'The first time is the last time'!! This company claims that it has a 95% retention rate..I think its a whole bunch of lies. This is the worst IP phone service i have ever used.
I opened my account in Feb 03 and paid $5, they sent me an verification email and I replied with all the needed info, got nothing back since then. And now i just find out someone disabled my account and i it says 'invalid account' every time i log in. Called customer service multiple times and no one answers. This is great! Everyone stays away!
I run a voip blog and I posted about their onebuck offer. My readers trust me and few of them registered for Pingo's services. It so appears that none of them could get their accounts activated. Moreover, one guy was charged $5 even though the coupon code onebuck was supposed to get them $4 off that is they should have been charged just $1.
Update: Pingo replied to this complaint and I am glad my users got their respective accounts back. However, when I contacted the user mitulchaudhari@yahoo.com I was told he was charged $5 and not $1 as the coupon code onebuck should have worked. Also, no referral bonus for me? I could care less about my bonus as long as my reader gets his $4 back.
i signed up on 23/01/2010. i want to use this service to call from bahrain to india.there is no acess number from bahrain. i took $5. what is the benefit for me. still my account is under review even though i sent verification details.
Don't EVER go with this company, Pingo.com. It takes DAYS for a simple 20-dollar credit to be processed, so NOTHING is instant here.
Additionally, customer service is, of course, out-sourced to India so you can bet on shoddy customer service and language barrier Heaven if anyone even answers the phone.
I am EXCITED to end a dispute with Pingo.com, as I have 20 dollars floating in non-appended/unapproved purgatory ever since Monday - calling them only awarded me that MAYBE my credit would be approved on FRIDAY of the same week. FIVE DAYS TO APPROVE A MEASLY 20 DOLLAR CREDIT?? I asked for a refund and that will take 5-10 business days to process now.
There is NO notification anywhere on the website that warns the user of extensively long approval waiting periods and call quality SUCKS.
DO NOT GO PINGO EVER!!!
i signed up for pingo onebuck promotion on 13th January 2010.I send my details to pingo verification number but my account is still not activated. When i try to login i get the message invalid account.
I've had Pingo for a long time (few years) and really never had any problems. Until today. I have been trying for over 5 hours to make a call. It was total static and no phone ringing on the other end. Finally, I did get a ring but there was still so much static it didn't matter.
I called Customer Service twice, but no solution.
12/29/2009 Update - I have just emailed Pingo to request a refund of my balance and close my acct as I am still unable to complete a call from FL to CA.
Worst card ever I spent a hundred or so dollars with the company at first the card worked ok but now for past 2 weeks I call and my girl does not hear one word. I complain and no credit for the garbage service. If you are here looking for a card I would say try nobelcom.com my experience with them is that the rates they advertise do not include tax but the clarity of calls is unmatched. Good luck stay away from pingo like it;s the plague.

A full refund was credited my account 3 days after Pingo responded to my complaint here on this site (see below). This is fair, therefore the 3 stars. Although I was disappointed I couldn't get the phone card to work, and that I had to go public to get a response.
Pingo Complaint
On Oct 21, 2009, I signed up for Pingo service under the ad banner of
Start Calling for Free Now!
Take 2 minutes to Sign Up
$5 bonus* on $10 sign up
$10 bonus* on $20 sign up
They got my personal info, including my credit card number along with an order for $20.00 calling card.
I have not been able to use this service, and the company has refused to honor this offer advertised on their website.
Tomorrow I will make the journey to a branch of my bank here in Brazil to dispute any charges from this company. As far as I can see, this is nothing but a hoax and a ripoff of credit card numbers.
It been well over 15days since I signed up for calling card service & my $20 which has been charged to my credit card has not been applied to my account yet. More over I've been just given $5 as sign-up bonus instead of $10. I've mailed the customer support several times but no reply. I'm going to take strict actions against this as its of no use. People please be aware & stay away for it. They will just rip your card off & you'll get nothing. Its my second review here. This thing is a useless crap. For the customer service that replies here. Please refund my money back to my credit card. I need my money back or I'm going to file a case against this company. FOr your information last four digits of my ac no is 8008.
Please refund my money.
First off, let me state that I am a certified ISO 9000, CQA Auditor and have been performing quality audits of companies for well over 10 years. This is the worst service I have ever encountered.
We received an e-mail that stated that for the month of September we would receive a $5 credit for every $10 we spent to recharge our account. We paid the money but the credit never came. When I called customer service to make an inquiry I came across a very rude agent who had to ask me multiple times to repeat my information (language barrier). He then told me that it was my word against theirs and that they were not required to apply the credit unless we could send them a copy of the e-mail.
I asked him if the e-mail was sent to all customers. He said yes. I then asked why we had to provide to them an e-mail that was sent to everyone? I asked if he could see the transaction of the re-charge. He said yes. I then said, "if the transaction occurred in the time period listed on the promotion, why was the promotion not automatically applied? He said it is suppose to automatically apply but that our account may not have been eligible.
Scratching my head I decided to bite, "ok, why is it not eligible?" He said, I dont know, you will have to send us the e-mail to be sure.
Does that make any sense at all? I then asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me that a supervisor was not available but he was the lead. He then began to berate me and speak over me. I told him I was the customer and he needed to listen to what I had to say and address my concerns, not speak down to me as if I were a criminal. Understanding I was getting nowhere I decided to hang up and try another agent. Interestingly enough, each of five times I called back I got the same agent answering the phone. There was a delay each time while I was on hold but the probability of getting the same agent each time should not be this high for a company with more than 2 agents.
My advice, stay away from this company. They are skimming
I've had a PINGO account for a few years now. All of a sudden the toll-free access numbers for the US and UK aren't working. I've had to pay double for calls and at this point am just trying to use up my balance so I never have to use the account again.
I purchased Pingo to call home while traveling in Ireland. The calling card worked satisfactorily during the first week while there. However, by week 2, the one and only access number I was given for Ireland (ie, a local Irish number) stopped working. I attempted to call the access number from hotels, bed and breakfasts, phone booths, and Internet cafes, on a near daily basis, all to no avail - the number was dead (I even had locals give it a try just so I knew there was no possible way that I all of a sudden started to misdial the number). Now, I was able to use $15 of the $20 worth of the card, so my main dispute is not regarding the lost $5, but rather the complete lack of responsiveness from Pingo. Multiple attempts to contact the company have been fruitless, except that I've received an automated "Pingo Loyalty rewards" e-mail that did no more than add insult to injury. In short, I would like my $5 refunded and would like to receive the customer service that I deserve; namely, a simple acknowledgement and preferably and an apology and explanation as to why their local access number stopped working. It's just common courtesy.
Also, as a follow up to Rafael's claim (see below) that Pingo has an 'F' rating with the BBB, it is correct as of 10/14/2009 - see http://www.bbb.org/boston/business-reviews/telecommunication-equipment-and-systems-service-and-repair/ibasis-inc-in-burlington-ma-96958/ for the complete report. UPDATE on 10/25/2009: Pingo now has an 'A' rating with the BBB. Not sure how they accomplished this in 2 weeks :), but I imagine they jumped through a few hoops or actually began responding to customers. Their response to my issues are noted in the 2nd follow up below.
FOLLOW-UP: Per the company response, the same number he/she cited below did NOT work despite repeated attempts during the 2nd half of my vacation. The web option would have been fine, had I not been traveling, as most of the B&Bs I stayed at did not have Internet (and therefore I would have had to pay for Internet access, which defeats the purpose of using the card overseas, in my estimation). In any case, on 10/16, a Pingo customer service representative contacted me and did say that I would receive a refund. It has not posted to my account yet, but I will update this message if it does.
FOLLOW-UP 10/25/2009: The company responded to my own BBB filing by stating they "tried to reach customer several times by phone but was unable to do so". They called me one time, left a vm, then I returned their call later that day. In any case, I was told I would receive a refund, but instead received $10 in Pingo credits. As I never plan on using Pingo again, this is not my intended outcome. :) It's hard to trust a company that on the one hand does not admit their mistakes (by acknowledging their access number was having problems), and then on the other, promise a refund but yet fail to deliver on that promise…
FOLLOW-UP 10/29/2009: It took some time/work :), but I did finally receive a full refund from Pingo, and for that, I am grateful. I'd also echo Petrovich's statement - Pingo does a better job of replying to customers via this site than anywhere else. I also received a letter of apology from Pingo, although it stated that they attempted to call me "several times". I doubt this, since my cell phone's call log didn't seem to show multiple missed calls from any one number. And, even if they did call me, they certainly did not leave any voicemails explaining why their 800 number suddenly stopped working. In any case, my complaint has at least now been resolved.
I posted my review here and must compliment Pingo. They do a much better job replying to complaints on this site then they do to complaints sent to them by paying customers.
To rebut your claims, I have tried the service from St. Petersburg, Kazan, and Samara...as well as other cities not listed by you on this site. You DO NOT MENTION THIS ON YOUR SITE WHERE YOU SELLL YOUR SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC and this is lot right. Stick a note up there that states "limited to certain cities or areas". I don't know what the problem is and I am fairly uninterested after months of waiting. Is it so difficult to correct the problem or stop trying to sell a service to the public that does not exist? Really, Pingo is not a bad company and I have had great luck calling from the U.S. but I must agree that the term customer service does not exist in this company and this causes me to question the ethics of a company that behaves in this manner.
Pingo's customer service is so pathetic and irresponsible. I had recharged my pingo account recently for $20 but my account did NOT get recharged. I had contacted Pingo customer service regarding this. The customer service Agent said my payment shows pending so he will have billing department to look at it. But NO response from Pingo even after 5 days. I had sent couple of follow up emails but No response/reply.
Finally, I went ahead and disputed the transaction. The same day evening, I tired logging into Pingo but I was getting Invalid Account message. Looks like they removed my account. This is NOT AT ALL ACCEPTABLE
My Kind advise, DO NOT GO FOR PINGO since you have other good calling card providers in the market.
I have been a loyal Pingo customer since October 2008. I spend anywhere from $50 to $100 per month!!!! But their service is ZERO! As of August, everytime I charge my account, they only credit my account $5 and say I'm in verification proces and anfter 3-4 days they would put the rest of the money on my account. And this has been going on at least 5 times! And the stupidest part is every time, i receive an email saying that i have been approved and my account will never undergo the review process, but it never fails. When I called in, I was told that instead of recharging for $10 each time, I should recharge for $25...OMG!!! Since when does a company dictate how much you can purchase? If they were smart, they would reealize the frequency at which I recharge and just strive to keep such a cash cow!
I am done with them! Beware of PINGO!! The rates are not worth the headaches!
I have been a Pingo customer since January 2009, and for seven months I've suffered their bad services. Extremely rare were the moments when a call through their 'softphone' (internet phone) went through without major problems - and even when they did, the sound quality was always bad (on both ends). On most days, calling through Pingo was a chore, dialing the number dozens of times over 10-20 minutes until the call finally went through. And don't expect any help from their customer service, whether you contact them via phone or e-mail.
worst calling card you can ever come accross
if you are in emergency to call someone forget Pingo as they will try to verify your account and when you send all the details they disable your account..and the best part..Money is deducted instantaneously from your bank
My sincere advise is Please Stay Away
I signed up a pingo account thinking it might be useful since i was travelling but I was flat WRONG. Dumbest idea ever. I couldn't get the toll-free number listed on their website for Japan to work at all despite calling via mobile or from landlines. Their customer support was no help either, just regurgitating information already on the website on me. What's more, my account is now stuck in a 'review' state and I can't even cancel it! You're better off giving your money to a charity!

Three days after signing up my account still doesn't work yet my credit card has been charged. I have emailed them 11 times and called four. No response, customer service can't help - yadda, yadda, yadda. If you want a phone card company that works, try someone else.

I don’t know about the quality of the calls yet, but the Customer Service of Pingo SUCKS!!!I’ve been calling to their phone line for more than 12 hours and it either lets you waiting or hangs up on you. I enrolled in the service on a Thursday night and the next day, by 11:00 am tha account had not been activated. I finally talked to a representative and she told me the activation takes from 24 to 48 hours. Unfortunately, thay don’t tell you that on their web page so you get stuck waiting for them. I am cancelling the service immediately, if a company can not effectively take care of its customers, it does not deserve my money. BEWARE OF PINGO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!
Also, I just found out that this company is not accredited with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Despite this, the BBB rated it F (Fail) due to the number of complaints and the lack of response of the company to resolve them. AGAIN, BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY PRACTICES

The webiste claims they have no fees. It's a lie. They take out one dollar every month from your account. I put some money in so I would have it when I traveled. Like sands through the hourglass, my money is disappearing into their pockets without me making any calls.
If they lie so brazenly about this, what will they do later? They cannot be trusted
