I order a cable from ELM-Spares via playtrade. They delivered the wrong cable so I contacted them and asked them to send the correct cable and to let me know if they wanted the incorrect cable sent back.
They replied that I should not bother to send the wrong cable back and that they would send the correct cable straight away.
4 weeks later and after 6 promises to courier the correct item I still have no cable.
Worst ever customer service and I recommend that you avoid ELM-spares (or ekm-spares) at all costs.
I have had the same experience as many that have posted on here - ordered something as a present a month in advance, payment was taken but the order never arrived. I have also emailed the contact and not received a reply - I'm just thankful that I didn't order something more expensive as I have clearly wasted my money!
I'm really disappointed as I have always used Play.com and they changed for the worse
I ordered a video game via Playtrade and encountered the same problems as the guys who have already left feedback. My game didnt come although they said they had dispatched it...i went through the process of contacting them ...then contacting Royal Mail..then contacting them etc .They eventually told me i would need to accept a refund after 3 weeks of waiting...i am disgusted with this on line shopping experience.I will never shop with them again...i feel like i have been scammed.
Seriously 44,000 people have been ripped off by zoverstocks and play STILL ALLOW THEM TO TRADE.
Shame on you play for allowing this person to scam so many people.
I placed an order before on Dec 7th with play trade seller for the first time.
Attempted to contact seller directly after 10 days and not receiving any product. No response
1 month later contact seller again only to receive a rude email suggesting that I should be blaming his choice of courier rather than his complete lack of customer service.
I will not shop with play trade sellers again.
First time using play trade and I got ripped off. Play won't take responsibility because its "third party" sellers. It's their company, bad sellers should be banned. Will be fighting to get my money back.

I ordered a DVD from seller reyesmienstien - I was told 7 to 10 days delivery, after 11 days I contacted the seller to say the item has not arrived. Two days later I contacted the seller again via playtrade attempting to file a complaint and I was told I have to give an extra 7 days before filing the complaint so I did.
When I finally managed to file the complaint I was told that I have to give a further 3 days to allow the seller to respond. Today is the 4th day, I still could not find where I click a button to say start the claims process so I called an 0845 number.
After being on hold for 10 minutes I was given a reference number and told that I should use that if the seller has not replied within another 4 days, asked where I enter the number I was told I would have to call back, the operator said we don't like to get involved between customer and seller, what a joke playtrade is...
Stay well clear people, it is more stress than it is worth when things go wrong and playtrade make it far from easy in filing a complaint. It's also a joke that they release your funds when the seller 'claims' the item has been posted with ZERO proof and no tracking info.
Deal with these traders at your peril. I'm not saying they are all bad but you have a high chance of getting shafted by one or more of them. One star is too generous but nothing lower to select. Play.com should ditch this service immediately as it will drag down their reputation.
I bought a dvd through playtrade. the company sent out the wrong disc. they didint reply to EMAILS until i complained under fairtrade "guarrantee" asked to send disc back (I have recorded delivery proof of postage) after 2 weeks nothing has arrived and they dont reply to emails. The company in question is ZOVERSTOCKS.
no refund or further response. I will NEVER use play.com again and will contact small claims on principle....
Having ordered a CD from OscaGB via play.com I was disappointed when it did not arrive. Mailed the seller whoa ssured wme it had been sent and said they would send another. Item was then marked as despatched.
Needless to say, the item did not arrive and it is now four weeks since the order. I have mailed the seller twice and play.com twice. Play.com cannot be bothered to answer my complaint and have ignored my request for a refund.
Do not order from OscaGB and be very wary of using any playtrade seller
i sent for this item as a christmas present for my son. Unfortunately it was an unwanted item so i contacted the company to return it. I realised that i would have to pay the postage to send it back, by recordered delivery as they stated but when the refund was made, they deducted the delivery postage as well. I had not been advised that this would happen and if i had known would have kept the item for myself. attempts to get this money back have failed so i will definitely not be using them again and would advise others to stay clear also
I purchased a monster truck for my son from a supposed "Company" called Starfilms on play trade. The truck was brand new but couldn't turn left so completely useless. I had to pay £10.34 to return the truck (which I don't think I'm going to get back) so I'm £53 down, I still haven't had my refund and the seller had the cheek to have a go at me for leaving negative feedback. NEVER again will I use this site. Playtrade say they will contact you after 10 days of logging a complaint but it's been 13 now and I haven't hard a dickie bird.
Full of scammers that either (1) supply substandard goods, or (2) disreputable characters that create dummy accounts to falsify good feedback, then take new orders, receive payment, then disappear.
The main Play.com site is great, but I advise potential customers to avoid PlayTrade like the plague.
Dont understand them at all, Cannot get a response to ANY email I have sent to their customerservice team at all! Mental that they have any customers at all tbh. CRAP
Ordered some DVD/CD paper sleeves on the 21/02/2012 late at night and after dispatch on the following day they were delivered on 24/02/2012. The delivery time stated 2 to 3 working days.
Words of advice.... Avoid PlayTrade like the plague!! I have been battling with an appalling seller (tunes4u) and an appalling customer services (it's a joke to even call them that!!) for weeks now!
I bought a low value item for an xmas gift to be told by the recipient just after xmas that it was faulty, I contacted the seller asking to return it to recieve a short response to say they would look at it. When I got the gift back from the recipient I had already bought them a replacement so sent the item back requesting a refund (at my own expense). No contact from the seller for over a week and then a replacement dropped through my door, I took this up with the seller who pretty much said that was all I was getting so contacted playtrade only to recieve nothing but endless badly worded copy and pasted emails that didn't help nor answer any of my questions.. 2 phone calls made to them one over 50 minutes!! They eventually (after a large argument over who was responsible for the transaction play or the seller) said they would contact the seller and request they refund. I've now had an email from them today to say I need to once again return the item to the seller and request a refund! which will leave me once again out of pocket! At least with ebay you have buyer protection, play don't seem to care! I have since cancelled every one of my pre orders with them and will NEVER!! be using them again for anything!
I can concur with every bad review on this site. Bought item from Playtrade seller, never arrived. Followed Play web sites advice that I must fist seek resolution direct with the seller. Sent 2 e-mails, first direct, 2nd entered via Play website, neither of which the seller even bothered to reply to. I finally lodged a claim for a refund with Play through their link to 'PLAYTRADE FAIRPLAY GUARANTEE. If there is ever a misnomer of a scheme name this is it. All of the communications are automated standard e-mails, I received an initial automated acknoledgement of my claim, with a promise of resolution with a working day then zip! Afrer waiting a week I again used the proper link to ask why they had done nothing with my claim, this only triggered another automated e-mail in response. Finally, in desperation I E-mailled CUSTOMERCARE@PLAY.COM (this is even more of a wild misnomer). I eventually got a dreadful response, pigeon english, from which I quote "It saddens us more to hear that the FairPlay Guarantee Claim feature on account has been disabled as the item is above 28 days since the posted date." and "At this state, we regret to inform you that we are no longer able to provide further assistance and we highly suggest that you continue contacting the seller to resolve the matter. We understand that this would raise more frustration and inconvenience on your end however, as much as we would like to assist you, this is the least that we can do. "
They make your blood boil frankly. I have been ripped off to the tune of £35 for an intended christmas present that never arrived, been totally blanked by the 3rd party seller, and had my claim, that was lodged on the 24th day after order (the FAIRTRADE claim period is 28 days they tell me, after which tough luck) declared timed out based on the date they chose to respond not the date I made my demand for a refund, which was in time.
THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE AND HAVE NO SENSE OF CUSTOMER CARE - USE AMAZON WHO I HAVE FOUND FAULTLESS IN DEALING WITH SUCH MATTERS. NEVER EVER ORDER ITEMS FROM 3rd PARTY SELLERS!!!
I placed an order for a CD back in December and i have never received it.I have emailed on numerous occasions but never had a response.................until now and i am being told there is nothing they can do. Disgusting do not use them at all.
Ordered a Wii game on 14th November. Money taken from account immediately. It has never arrived. I have contacted play.com, playtrade and the seller directly many times, over the phone and via email to get a refund, but haven't got anywhere. They just fob you off constantly. I think it's all a scam. Do not buy anything from this site.
have waited weeks for an xbox console, it never arrived for christmas despite assurances it would.
avoid these people, you never get any genuine feedback.
its cost me a lot of money.
Beware long delivery times from PlayTrades when unit is supposedly despatched. I was ripped off and play still havnt given me my money back. DSi bought on 21st November and my account panel was updated with product despatched with a footnote asking for me to ignore the 3 days as it will be 20 days. Nothing arrived! I have now been on to play.com 5 times and each time I am assured by the Filipino lady that I will be getting money back through the guarantee scheme but it never arrives and I am continuing to call them. Do yourself a favour and spend a little extra somewhere else and get a PROPER returns and guarantee.
Hi Everyone. This is A WARNING to anyone buying from this website. Avoid like the plague. We purchased a X Box 360 and less than two weeks old it broke. The ring of death appeared. Cakesattic refused liability and accused us of dropping the X Box. This was not true!!! I was promised a refund after Cakesattic refused liability. I waited for a week. Had a phonecall today 3rd 0ctober 2011 and was told i AM NOT getting a refund. Now going to Trading Standards and Watchdog. They have gone back on their promise. I am fuming!!!!
I bought a 3DS game from a company called GAMEEXCHANGE on 18/5/11 for £23.95.
Nothing ever arrived.
Contacted seller who said he had sent it 2nd class (since then I see has 100% negative feedback that he has never despatched anything he has sold!!).
Got it in touch with Playtrade on 21 June who told me they would refund me with 24 to 48 hours as I had waited so long and the seller is a useless waster.
Still no refund from Playtrade 28th June 2011 so phoned again. My request has given an ref. number and the department that does refunds are very very busy. Wait another 24 to 48 hours and if I haven't had a refunds phone again.
Never again will they get my business.
GO TO SOMEONE REPUTABLE DON'T USE THESE GUYS.
I bought some Space Clothes Storage Bags and found them to be good.
Very reasonably priced and delivered Quickly.
Thanks Playtrade!
I ordered a DVD via PlayTrade (howard99 .. Definitely avoid) and never received it. I tried 4 times to contact the seller and got diddly. I tried to follow the procedure to make a claim but it kept telling me to contact the seller !!! I have sent numerous emails to Play.com support, and after being repeatedly told to contact the seller (this was via an auto generated response), I finally got an email telling me that they were very sorry and there's nothing they can do for me !!! Then they had the cheek to say I should keep trying to contact the seller !!
I have been ordering from Play.com for 11 years nowe (nearly 800 items) and this was the best they could do ... Well all I can say is thank god for Amazon & Ebay 'cos I won't be using Play.com anymore.
My advise is not to buy from play trade i ordered from a company called Duragadget the item never arrived and when you try there phone number you are informed that the mail box is full probably with unsatisfied customers DO NOT ORDER FROM DURAGADGET !!!!!!!!!! OR PLAYTRADE
I ordered a DVD from zoverstocks through playtrade, I was told it had been sent out the same day. Two weeks later it still hadn't arrived but they were insisting it would arrive any minute. Nearly 3 weeks later they finally tell me that it never passed final quality inspection and I'd been refunded!!
Some Playtrade dealers to not work to the same standard as Play.com.
Unlike Amazon the buyer does not get an automatic email to rate the transaction so some Playtrade dealers do not get the rating they deserve leading to the buyer dealing with a less than professional seller. It was only a chanced look at my buying history that showed how easy it was to leave
feedback. Play.com should promote this fact
I returned the waltons season 6 on the 8th january as the dialogue was in german and could not access the english language. I asked for a refund and have heard nothing since. My e-mails have been ignored. What a way to run a business!!After contacting customer service was told I would have to fill in a form which they would send to me. Goodness knows how long it will take to get my money back - if at all. From M Hanlon
I've used playtrade in the past to both buy and sell with no real problems but now I've had the misfortune to buy from a bad (or unlucky) seller whose item just didn't turn up although alledgedly sent by recorded mail. Tried to claim on Fairplay guarantee and use playtrade to put pressure on the seller (Richard360) but after 4 phone calls and several weeks I'm making zero progress. Shame on you playtrade - you've gone downhill.
i purchased a DVD from future tech through playtrade nearly 2 months ago which was advertised as 'region free' and would apparantly play on any DVD player in any country! this was not the case when i recieved the item it clearly stated on the box that it was region 1, which was no use to me as i live in England, i tried it on both of my players and it didd'nt work on either! so i emailed them telling this and asking for either an exchange or refund!
i recieved a reply the next day basically calling me a liar and saying that they can prove that their DVD's work on any player, but in the end offered me a refund as they said they saw no point in proving to me that it worked.
i sent the item back and heard nothing, so i emailed them again and was told it had not been recieved, althoughi should have sent it recorded delivery, i found it hard to believe this. if the item had been advertised correctly in the first place, this would not have happened!
i will not be buying anything from future tech or playtrade again as there is a big chance that what you are buying is falsly advertised and a chance you may got get your money back!
I ordered a pack of 6 INKRITE cartridges as advertised by Play.com through a Playtrader They sent me a completely different name set ( a cheaper brand and not as good ) When I complained they told me that they were exactly the same ( which they clearly were not !!) and tried to fob me off with various excuses. This is a complete ripoff...In the end they offered to refund my money if I sent the carts back ..or ( this is the best bit ..send me what I had ordered in the first place INKRITE !!! ) Needless to say I did niether because if you cannot trust them to send you what you ordered I am sure I would not trust them to refund my money after I had sent the carts back..This is the second time that I have had the misfortune to unwittingly purchase from this same trader through Playtrade,,, on the advert it looked as though I was ordering directly from PLAY.COM and was rather misleading and it was only after I had paid for everything did it become apparent that I had actually ordered from this useless Playtrader again..So beware and I definitely will not order using Playtrade unless I can get an email from the trader EXPLICITLY telling me that he is going to send the goods EXACTLY as advertised..You expect this sort of thing on Ebay but should never happen on a well known site like Play.com who should take careful note of feedback etc about these traders.!! To be fair all orders from PLAY.COM themselves have been very good an no problems and I have used them for a good few years ,it's only when they started this PlayTrader business that things went downhill. So my advice would be forget Playtrader and if Play.com haven't got what you want then go elsewhere Amazon for instance although there Marketplace suffers a similar problem , but Amazon are a lot more approachable when it comes to disputes than Play.com..
I've used PlayTrade about 4 times (and was alright, nothing amazing), but no more - here's why...
Okay so I bought a DVD from a PlayTrade seller (mgamesxx - stay well away!) and when I ordered it he had good feedback. The item was supposedly dispatched hours after I ordered it (on a Sunday!!???!WTF!!!). Anyway I hoped for the best, but after a fortnight I could see I wasn't going to get my DVD, as negative comments had started to flood in, so I tried emailing Play (difficult to find an email and I got an automated response).
Eventually decided to ring Play, who are stand-offish at best when it comes to customer service, and despite 85 (yes 85) negative comments to this guy's account, they insist to "look into it" and get back to me shortly. At least with eBay if you get scammed you have buyer protection. And although I have been scammed on eBay as well, it was relatively painless getting my money back (filing a complaint with PayPal).
So yeah, avoid at all costs, it's not worth the (small) monetary saving you may gain. Overall I am shocked that this scammer is still allowed to trade.
Sort it out Play, you used to be ok.
Peace!
I tried to buy an item from a private seller via the play trade site in plenty of time for Xmas. Got an email that the sale had gone through. A week later wondering where it was I emailed the seller. He assured me it had been sent the day after ordering. I then logged on to find the sale had been 'declined' but no body had bothered to tell me, and the seller was lying about the despatch. Tried to complain about poor service but no one was interested. Left it very hard to get the item in time for Xmas.
Had an excellent run at selling some items through the playtrade site, all my items sold in 48hrs, and the playfunds, once set up, were just as useable as paypal, only downside is the buyer centric system in which customers can get their money back, but I believe these are now being independantly investigated, so all in all a great alternative to ebay for DVDs and games, would definately use again!
