Do not honour manufacturer's warranty OR comply by UK law
I bought a Castelli base layer from PBK 8 months ago. I didn't wear it in the winter (too fine) and now after a few rides (<10) it has started to fall to pieces. No trouble I thought - I will just return it to PBK. Sadly it is not that easy, despite Castelli and the UK supplier Saddleback telling me that it has a year's warranty, PBK say that it is their policy not to refund/replace items more than 6 months old.Trading standards tell me this is illegal. The supplier (Saddleback) will even give PBK a free exchange! I have quoted the Sale of Goods Act 1979 that stipulates that items sold must be "fit for purpose" and of "satisfactory quality" but they don't seem to think that that applies to them. Beware of companies like this - what if this had been an expensive frame or similar item. Only one thing left - small claims court. PBK - it's not about the money - I will donate it plus more to charity - it's just that you can't treat customers like this. OR do you think the law doesn't apply to you somehow??
