Not a great first impression really.
After looking around at my regular suppliers online stores, I decided to try Proviation for my next new bit of kit (a £380 radio.) as proviation had the same radio £10 cheaper than my usual suppliers and the website seemed to say all the right things regarding service, delivery etc.
The radio was shown as 'in stock' (In two places on the website) and it was stated that it would be dispatched via courier if the order was placed before 15.00. This was ok as I assumed by ordering on a Thursday night, my order would ship on the Friday and thus be with me the following Tuesday (after the back holiday.) Not so!
After a few days I noticed that my order had not yet shipped. I hadn't had any notification of a problem from proviation, so I emailed them. At this point I was informed that the radio was in fact NOT in stock, and it would be a couple more days before they had more delivered. OK I thought, no problem.
However unfortunately the radio was not shipped a couple of days later. After a few email's back and forth, my radio actually shipped 8 days after placing the order.
I was a little disheartened at this point and contacted proviation again to at least get the tracking number for my order, I expected that after the above delays that this would be shipped 24hour next day delivery. I was again disappointed, as It seemed my £380 order was now being dispatched by Royal Mail's plain old recorded delivery service. NOT UPS or Interlink Express as 'again' stated on the website.
My order has finally turned up, 11 days after placing it, even on opening the package there was a bit of a surprise... My order had actually been shipped from one of the other online companies I usually deal with, not proviation or Icom.
If something is not 'in stock', It really shouldn't be shown as being 'in stock'!

We're sorry to hear this; the radio was not in stock at base on this occasion but with our suppliers who were tasked to send to you. As you selected standard 2-3 day delivery the order should have been with you the following Thu, due to the bank holiday; the order eventually shipped by Royal Mail to ensure you got it next-day on a Saturday.

Easy to use and provide good customer service always
Have bought various items- cheap and expensive- I bought a GPS which was unsuitable- overkill for what I needed. Returns process via online form was simple and they sent Ups to collect it. very helpful- I exchanged for an Airbox. Also they offer longer warranties in many cases with a promise to collect- I can vouch for this.

Everything I needed G-REAT
I recently decided to start my PPL after many years of wanting and decided to take the plunge and commit by buying most of the equipment. A pilot friend recommended Proviation as being reasonably priced and helpful.
His experience was correct and I enjoyed shopping for these important bits of gear.
PPL kit guide useful- but bought the whole pilot starter kit. AFE aircraft guide useful + PPL manuals v clear- (instructor recommended Trevor Tom)
One book out of print which wasn't proviation's fault.
They did email me however to tell me that it would follow in a couple of weeks.

The best online shop for flying
Took the time to go through exactly what I needed in a headset (plugs- Airbus) and threw in extras which i didn't expect. What's more the order was completed within a few mins of me placing the order. Only had a few days down time so very pleased I can use the headet on day 1.

Smooth handling of delay
Ordered logbook, manuals and headset. Headset showed a delay on the website. They got in touch to tell me that this was the case and would I like them to send the rest of the order and follow with the headset? As agreed the manuals and logbook arrived the next day and the headset by the Wednesday. Very pleased as it was earlier than expected. Still faster than some other sites. Very pleased with the communication and quality of service. Items well packaged and headset is excellent. Looking forward to flying with it.

Great service and returns policy
Ordered RAF leather flight jacket from Proviation which arrived by courier in a couple of days. The quality of the jacket was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately it didn't quite fit my husband.
Proviation arranged UPS to collect the jacket and return it, and then shipped a new one to us which arrived a day later.
Very pleased and will be recommending the service and this jacket to our friends.

Up and running in no time
Bought a go Pro camera from proviation which arrived on time and in perfect condition. had problems with transferring video files, but simply overcome by installing a converter so I could view these on a DVD. Proviation were very helpful in offering this kind of technical support over the phone.

Hard to beat
I've used most aviation stores at one point or another. Proviation answers that by having all products under one roof- called in for help and came away very pleased with three items which arrived the next day. Included HMEC 250 headset which is superb. Prices very good indeed. Order before 3 if you need items quickly.

We've been in touch with Jakub and he was refunded in full. The jacket ordered was shown as out of stock on our store. We'll be in touch when the jacket is re-produced and made available once again. We answer all emails within 24H but they are occasionally intercepted by spam filters.

Good, personal service
Nice to find a company where you can speak to the owner and talk about a product, or phone later and they remember you. This is a genuinely friendly company passionate about the products they sell.

Where's my order!
Ordered Sunglasses and software to the value of £190
Checked that everything was in stock at the time of order and received despatched notification. Hasnt arrived after 4 days, chased and rang without a satisfactory response, no idea where the delivery is and apparently the entire despatch dept comes home early on Friday afternoon so dont order then anyway.
Plenty of other aviation suppliers around, i suggest trying them first.

All parts of Chris' order did finally arrive by Royal Mail. One of our first packages evidently went astray, so another one was sent out to him. Despatch effectively has to close at 1630 on Friday, which is our last collection. You can order until 1300hrs for a next-day service, or 1500hrs for standard delivery.

Where's my order?
Ordered Cessna tow bar on 24 Feb 12, and payment was taken immediately via Paypal.
Heard nothing tfor a week, chased the order on 29 Feb by email. The reply was "1-2 weeks".
Chased again by email on 19th March, no response.
Rang on 23rd March and got an answering machine.
Is this company still trading?

We have since delivered this Tow Bar along with our apologies to Mr. Batey. One of our update emails had gone astray between 19-23 March. This product was delayed at the point of manufacture unfortunately. Our telephones are manned on 01582 20 49 86 from 0930-1730 (We open later in order to process the night orders and answer emails).

May be a one off, but not good
After a problem with either supply chain or delivery my radio arrived this morning having been sent by express delivery.
Nick was most helpful in getting the problem sorted out even though the problem was outside of his direct control.

This was brought to our attention by telephone yesterday. This appears to be a problem with the delivery agent used, but we're going to investigate this rather than making presumptions. The issue will be resolved by sending another unit using a next-day service immediately.
