Repaircare

Wish I hadn't bothered

Sometimes in life, things seem too good to be true and Repaircare come into that category. A simple matter such as calling me to book a repair (of a job they supposedly put right 4 weeks ago) is proving to be virtually impossible. When I originally booked them for the first repair, I took out an additional policy through "Homeserve" to cover my dishwasher for a further 12 months. Once received, the small print indicated that only 1 claim is allowed in that 12 months period. All repairs have to be made via Homeserve, who then have to contact Repaircare. So far, Homeserve say they have passed this over to Repaircare 3 times, but Repaircare say they have received nothing, so I, as the customer, are left bouncing between them. My advice is not to be drawn into any form of business with either of these companies. I am loathed to give them 1 star !

Repaircare

11 weeks and counting!

My dishwasher broke down and an Engineer visited on 4 January 2011. The standard story, he had to oder some parts! I was phoned at a stage and informed that one of the parts has arrived but that they are waiting for another part. The Engineer eventually arrived on On 1 March and repaired the dishwasher. The machine broke down 1 week later, same issue as before. The new Engineer arrived and had no knowledge of previous work done! and... he has to order a part!

When you attempt to contact them it is like speaking to a robot, Extremely poor customer service and misleading claims

In the FAQ section of Repaircare.co.uk site, there is a section about the ordering of spare parts. This states that "parts will be sourced to the engineer within 3 working days (subject to availability)". However, when I questioned this when I called, the phone operator said that "engineers take delivery of parts once a week", so the claim on website is false advertising.

PLEASE NEVER USE THEM!

one star

Horrible attitude; not at all transparent. They basically lied and said parts weren't available and that my expensive DeDetrich range was a write off. I then called a company that sells DeDetrich parts, and all parts were available. I had to argue with repair care and they were very rude!

Repaircare

Unbelievably poor attitude. Falsely claimed to be a fast service.

Used this service as it was recommended by a website purporting to be a Bosch information site. I now suspect this website to be an advertising tool created by repaircare. They took £125 in advance, engineer turned up 2 days later as promised. He needed another part to complete the job, and told us this would be delivered in 2 days and he anticipated coming back 3 days later. We had no further contact for 4 days. We then contacted the company for clarification. The phone operator disputed every comment I made, and was very keen to split hairs. She refused to give her name and stated it was not company policy to put customers through to a manager/supervisor. A cynic would suggest they took this defensive and argumentative approach because they are used to deflecting complaints. She finally informed us that the part would arrive exactly 17 days after the initial engineer call - remember this is a 'specialist' company and we're talking about a common brand. Did not apologise at any stage - attitude was confrontational and sarcastic. She actually had the bare cheek to accuse me of being rude!

I find the service indescribably bad for a so-called specialist company, and the customer service is non-existent. Would never consider using this service again. Avoid them like the plague!

Repaircare

Poor service and inept engineer

I would like to share my recent experience in dealing with an inept RepairCare ‘qualified ‘ engineer, and RepairCare customer services in particular. I have a SMEG A2 cooker and for some reason the electrical part of it, i.e. the oven, clock, ignition, etc, stopped working.
I contacted RepairCare and during the first visit by the engineer, I was told that the clock is broken and the cooker needs a new clock unit, which he will order. He returned a week later and fitted the new clock. Low and behold, the cooker is still not working even with the new clock.
His second diagnosis was that there is a fault with the wiring loom and will therefore need to order a new wiring loom unit. A week later, I received a call from RepairCare informing me that my cooker is ‘un-repairable and dangerous to use’. I was told that the wiring in the cooker is ‘burnt out’. There were certainly no signs of ‘burning out’ when the back of the cooker was opened up for the very first time by the ‘qualified’ engineer since I had it from new.
I was puzzled, and being an electrical engineer myself, decides to have a look before calling out SMEG. As all engineers will agree, if an electrical appliance is not working, the first thing to check for is if there is a live feed to the appliance. I pulled the cooker out, had a look at the cable connection to the mains and straight away noticed the cable that came with the cooker was damaged. The neutral and earth cables were chewed through by some pesky rodents!!! No wonder the ‘qualified ‘ engineer could not find the fault; there is a live feed to the cooker [that will show on his multi-meter] but no neutral return from the cooker. Such fundamental error in concentrating on only the cooker and not checking on the cable supplied with the cooker. I had the cable repaired and the cooker now works like new. To think that my cooker was declared ‘un-repairable and dangerous’!!!!!!
I went back to RepairCare first to complain on the repair undertaken and also to as for my money back. They agree to refund all but £45 for callout. My point to them was that if the engineer did his job properly, I would have spared all the hassle of having multiple visits and at the end of day, the engineer mis-diagnosed the fault and still had not repaired my cooker. To date, RepairCare still maintain that my cooker is ‘un-repairable and dangerous’. I requested for the same engineer to re-inspect the cooker but they declined, they just feel fit to keep the call out charge. I have no qualms about paying the call out charge if indeed my cooker is un-repairable, but am now asking back for the call out charge out of principle. Corresponding with RepairCare over email can be quite frustrating, the numerous emails were all met with the polite reply ‘ our qualified engineer has inspected the cooker and find it un-repairable and dangerous ‘.

Repaircare

A scam!

Do NOT use repaircare - book an engineer, get a response that says you're booked. Take time off work to be there. Then get a call on the day halfway through the day to say no engineer available and the next available slot is another week away! Then have to try and get a refund and go through a ridiculous process for that. NEVER use this service - they have no idea what service is about.

Repaircare

DO NOT USE REPAIRCARE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Use this company with extreme caution and at your own peril.
Foolishly, I did and they have destroyed my 2 year old £1,500 SMEG refrigerator and charged me £ 131 for doing so.
I am now into month 2 of my battle to get this sorted out.

Repaircare

Absolutely terrible

After needing to get a washing machine fixed, we called Repair Care who duly arranged for an engineer to call. The booking was confirmed by email, and £125 charged to our card (in advance).

The day of the appointment came, and went.

Despite a call to Repair Care at 4pm to check the engineer was still coming, we were told, "yes, absolutely, you are on the job sheet for today and the engineer will be with you before 6pm." As you may have already gathered, no engineer, and £125 worse off.

On calling again the next day, we were offered no apology, no explaination what so ever. To top it off, it would also take five working days to refund the money. Well, how very decent of them.

Repair Care offer zero customer service, charge you upfront for a service not provided, and then don't even turn up. Avoid Repair Care at all costs. Perhaps they should change their company name to Repair (We Don't) Care

Repaircare

Useless!

Contacted Kupperbusche first who insisted that the only option open to me for fixing my Frdge/Freezer was to contact Repaircare as they were the only agents repairing this make in the UK. Was very reluctant to go down this avenue as I had read such disastrous reviews! However, left with no alternative I contacted Repaircare in June 2010 to start the process, thinking that at least I had a 'heads up' so expected it to be timely. First engineer arrived and confirmed that we needed a new circuit board and that the part may take a little while to arrive as it had to come from USA. I was very pleasently surprised when only a couple of weeks later they called to say they had the part and we could proceed with the repair. Engineer arrived but then decided that although the part had arrived there should have been two circuit boards, not one, so they would have to leave it until the other part arrived. We waited and waited...and waited... Eventually we contacted Repair Care who said the repair had been completed. When we assured them that it hadn't they said the engineer who had been contracted to work on our Fridge/Freezer had left the company and must have sign it off by accident. They sent out another 'Chief Engineer' to check what work had been done (NONE AS YET) who apologised most profusley, and assured me that he would 'personally' sort this out and order the other required part. After a few weeks we contacted the contractors again who said the part wasn't available yet and had been put on back order. They were hoping to get delivery of it at beginning of December. Today is the 16th December and I was waiting in nervous anticipation of having a fridge/freezer that worked! Oh, foolish Me! Engineer turned up and guess what? They've sent the wrong part. Six months now and absolutely no further on than when we started this debacle!! If there had of been an alternative company I would definately have used them rather than this shower of useless beings!

Repaircare

Absolutely awful

This has been one of the worst experiences I have had with any company providing a service. It's now October and we have waited since April this year for them to fix it.

They came once, didn't fix it said they needed to order the part, then made numerous promises of visits where they just didn't turn up (and I had to chase them!) Eventually they came with the 'right' part and the fridge returned to it's previous condition, so they either had a faulty part or there was more than one problem in the first place. Now, they're being 'kind enough' to offer us a refund minus the callout charge!!! Surely all of those days I had to spend all day waiting around and phonecalls they could have the decency to refund the whole cost. Had they told us this at the beginning fair enough, but after messing us about so much, it's just wrong.

I would tell anyone to steer clear. Those people writing the good reviews seem to be very few.

Repaircare

Very Impressed with service

Dishwasher broke down, engineer fixed it first go after an hour or so. More than happy as thought it was going to cost a fortune.

It's a great idea to know what you're paying before the repair man comes out.

Repaircare

Extremely poor customer service and misleading claims

My washing machine stopped working 1 Oct. I called RepairCare.co.uk 2 Oct. They arranged engineer to come out 6 Oct.

On 6 Oct, I took a day off to wait for them. Engineer showed up 6 Oct - so far so good. He said the drum was broken so needed to order the part and come back next Tues, 10 Oct.

10 Oct showed up, nobody came. I called up RepairCare.co.uk and was told that the part did not arrive. I took a day off but did not receive any phone calls at all that the item was not available or that the engineer was not going to come. Now I have to rebook another appointment and wait until 18 Oct before the parts arrive, if at all.

The website also implies you can track the status of your repair job. I looked at my old job number - C1446778 which was incorrectly closed and marked 'completed' even though the washing machine isn't repaired. I have since been given a new job number for the new call out.

Both the misrepresentation of the time it takes to order spare parts AND the inability for repaircare to 'track repairs' constitutes misleading advertising: http://www.oft.gov.uk/about-the-oft/legal-powers/legal/misleading-advertisements/what-is-it

Repaircare

Scam

I had a bearing failure on a washing machine and as I had already diagnosed the problem, I specifically stated to the person on the phone what the problem was, the type of the machine, etc.

An engineer turned up and basically laughed. Saying that bearings on my make of machine (Bosch) are unreplaceable.

Why did they bother sending somebody out to tell me that, a phone call would have done - oh but then they would not have got their call out charge would they.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! DO NOT BOTHER!!!

Still waiting on fridge to be fixed after over 2 1/2 months. We have been given the wrong parts, been promised parts and fitting dates and they never turn up, never have the part etc - have spent SO long trying to chase them and get an answer. Spoke to manager last week and got hung up on. Seriously don't even consider calling them- you will get NOWHERE!!! In contact with Rogue Traders now it has got that bad.

Repaircare

Can't believe they lied on job tracking!

I have been waiting two weeks for my fridge to be fixed so I checked onnline for a phone number as two weeks ago I was told a part would be ordered! I tracked my job and it said the engineer had been out three times and the the fridge is now fixed (one week ago). I still had heard nothing from the company and they have 3 contact numbers for me! I phoned and asked why it says my fridge is fixed and they said they had to write something to close the job---the truth would have been nice! And then he informed me the part has stopped being made so they couldn't find the part! My fridge isn't that old and I amazingly I was able to find the part myself online! They couldn't have looked too hard! They have refunded part of may payment minus their £45.00 call out charge! What an easy way to make £45.00. Not impressed and would definitely not reccommend!

Repaircare

extremely poor customer service & the repairs not done

I paid straightaway to fix the owen (not warm enough) and the hob (partially working, 5 year old model by Siemens). It was almost 2 months ago. The fact - neither still works properly. After easily identifying the faults and ordering the spare parts, the company informed me in about 1 month time that they can't locate the spares for the hob and eventually reimbursed 50% of what I paid for the hob repairs after multiple calls...The owen was "repaired" so that the temperature control stopped working and i...well..it is either off or 200+ degrees...can't really use it much. Ok - after chasing them up - have been told that more spare parts been ordered some 1 month or so ago...and then communictaion black-out ...all the calls to engineer not returned, the emails to company not returned ..and today the engineer told me that "he is too busy, call tomorrow" and hang up on me....

I have bever written any reviews in my life but such a poor attitude really prompted my to write something here ...

Repaircare

Excellent service, Quickly and cleanly done.

My cooker fan stopped working on Thursday (in a fan oven that is critical) and I tried repaircare. They quoted a price of £108 including VAT to do the repair. I booked them to come on the following Monday.
I received a phone call soon afterwards saying that they were in the area on Friday morning (the very next day) and would I be interested in getting the job done early. I said yes. I received a phone call on Friday morning saying that the engineer was on his way and would be with me in 20 minutes.
The engineer came on the Friday, confirmed that it was the fan and said that unfortunately they hadn't had one in stock for that oven but that he would be back the following week. I said could he avoid Tuesday. I received a phone call to say that they now had the part and would like to come and complete the job on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday moring the engineer turned up and carefully laid out a mat on the kitchen floow before bringing in his workstand. He removed the old fan, fitted the new fan and after testing the oven for a few minutes left telling me that if there were any problems rto contact them and they would come back and fix it.
I would use the company again, any time.
