I purchased a solar light and it is faulty they say I can return it but they will not pay the postage which will cost me £8.00 this is only £1.99 less than the item cost
Never received service like this before
do not buy anything from them they just dont want to know
My first experience of ordering online with Robert Dyas has not been a good one, with my wine order being cancelled as they could not find proof I was over 18 – I’m actually over fifty! Surely it is better to request evidence before cancelling orders. But reading these reviews perhaps I have had a lucky escape.
I visited Robert Dyas in Yeovil today Sunday 7th October to buy a X 5 steam cleaner, it was on a special offer, cleaner, 2 new pads, and 2 containers of ionised water, unfortunatly they only had one container of ionised water so I could not have the special offer!!! I suggested that I call back at a later date and collect the other container of ionised water, but no, I couldn't do that!! They did not know when they would be in, so therefore I could not take advantage of the special offer, that was being advertised and promoted heavily in the store. Can Robert Dyas afford to lose a sale worth approx £120.00 on a quiet Sunday afternoon? As I was going to purchase other items as well. I left without buying anything, does Theo get to hear about this sort of thing? I don't think so as I am sure he would be as appalled as I was. A lost customer who will tell others !!!

So I needed a new pressure washer after searching the web I found one exactly right on Robert Dyas, order made payment taken 5 days delivery alls good...... No, I get a call a week later "sorry the item is out of stock, can we offer a replacement?" I asked to be notified when the item is in stock again, no worries so, 3 weeks later I receive an email your requested item is in stock.... Order placed, again. payment taken, again. up to 5 days delivery no worries. 2 weeks later still no washer. Send them a nice email to trace my purchased item, no reply after a week called customer services very nice lady informs me they are out of stock again!!!!!! (This is even though they told me it was in) there is one available in one of our stores if I would like to collect...... its over 100 miles from me so no.
called to make a complaint, they are very apologetic, but still no power washer and I have to wait upto 5 working days for my money back.
Mr Theo Paphitis what kind of company have you bought????????
Hmm if you pay for an item you should get it, if you haven't got any:-
A) DONT ADVERTISE IT,
B) DONT TELL PEOPLE YOU HAVE IT
C) DONT TAKE THE MONEY FOR IT.........
and I have just bought a new house which has entailed a lot of purchasing.
Bought a BBQ online on the Weds for a next day delivery, enough time to receive for my Saturday BBQ event (order accepted and agreed), didnt turn up the next day (even though I called and confirmed it was out for delivery), nor the Friday (again I called and checked, driver ran out of driving time apparently), called Friday evening to be told they can deliver between 9-12 on Saturday, no use when guests arriving at 12 and BBQ takes 2 hrs to build! Told couriers and Robert D not to deliver (no apology) and bought the same one in the garden centre (successful party).
Doesn’t end there….
Came home the following Tuesday to find BBQ dumped in the rain in the back garden! Called customer services again (woeful phone system chucks you out to the sales line if you wait too long, you can never speak to the same person, they don’t seem to log your call properly as you have to repeat the whole saga every time). They said they will arrange a pick up.....4 failed pickups later (no one turns up), still no apology and no reason why no one comes to the house, nor do they sound like they care, they refuse to refund until they get BBQ, how can they get the BBQ if they don’t picked it up!! I also keep telling them, I didnt even sign or accept it, and I had told them not to deliver. This BBQ is BIG and far to heavy for me to put in the car and drive down to the nearest store. So have had to resort to opening a complaint with my credit card company and hopefully will get my money back.
Oh and also, dont bother trying to email them, they never reply, I will never shop there again, and I have done, alot, in the past, if something goes wrong, you're on your own!

Just returned a hoover that broke that was bough in Aprl 12 - telephoned the Amersham branch and spoke to a very friendly girl and asked if a photocopy of the receipt was OK, as the original would have taken 10 minutes to find. Was told yes no problem. Printed off receipt and return goods to the Amersham store where it was purchased. Robin the store supervisor walked over and said that i needed the original and that my photocopy was no good - when i explained yesterday that i had called the store and what i was told - he replied - "well you did not speak to me". to which i said that i was unaware that i had to speak to him in which case he should be answering all the calls and not allowing other members of staff to deal with phone queries - which he replied "you need the original". I would have brought a replacement there and then but i decided to speak with my custom and took the refund and it will be a cold day in hell before i shop at Robert Dyas again - no wonder John Lewis had a great Christmas you would think that these chains would look at best practice - what has made me more angry is the sale of goods act does not even require the receipt just proof of purchase - which could be completed through the credit card that i used as well as the copy of the original. wasted 1 hour of my life going home and getting the receipt - i will make sure i tell me family and friends about this disgraceful service from Robin which i can only assume reflects the Robert Dyas business - the ryan air of the high street.
I regularly shop in the Chippenham brance - the products range stocked is great and some good offers. However, after the treatment I suffered on my last visit, I will notbe visiting the CHIPPENHAM store again. I was humiliated and embarassed, had to ask not to be shouted at, and left in tears - all because I was rushed to find the receipt to pick up an ordered and paid for item. I have forwarded my feelingsto the company
Went to buy non-stick pans as advertised on the internet. I saw the items, but they didn't appear to be on offer. .I asked the staff where the offer was located. They pointed to the back of the store. I explained that there were no signs advertising the offer. The reply was to 'help myself', with no direction or help!
The customer service was non-existent, with one employee on the phone, ignoring the customers in the shop. Serious training needed here!
We Selected our products in the Harrow branch and went to the till. The cashier packed everything and when we got home we realised that 2 of our items was missing. I called the store and asked if they had 2 of our items at the till and they said yes.The person was ready to just put down the phone without asking for any details i.e when can you come and whats your name???? very basic things to ask! i was not happy and the person on the phone just said call our customer service number will a very dead and dull voice without a care in the world....very poor. The store is great but the people skills are poor. i will not be able to get to the store anytime soon so i will be at a loss due to the member of staff not carrying out a basic job.
served on 29/10/11 @ 16.18
receipt num: 62
I bought a food processer at this store a few years ago at a very good reduction. I have also bought a pressure washer.
What I like is that you can always check the website for current bargains and if you are in London there are several branches to call into. Staff are very friendly and deal accurately and courteously with stock enquiries and let you browse in the shop without becoming impatient or pushy. A really useful shop.
I would have given 5 stars except if I am looking for something in particular Argos or Amazon more likely to have it in stock, but then they are bigger. Even so, I often check if Robert Dyas has an item at the same time as checking the big sellers as sometimes you are rewarded with an exceptional bargain.
