First Order - Website had difficulty adding things to trolley ...then crashed dumping the lot. Wasted an hour!
Second Order (approx £150) - Managed to finish ordering and had it confirmed for early morning delivery. Delivery never arrived. Called to ask why and was told they had problems with my card ( a new one) and been trying to phone me. They'd been using the wrong phone number although they had the correct one in my account details. Wouldn't deliver later same day. Wasted hours!
Third order. (£140) Arrived on time. Mistakes on bill.Unsurprisingly, more charged on my bill than shown on website. Short-dated fresh products - some with Use By dates of tomorrow!
Took 22 minutes waiting on the phone to get a refund of a couple of quid! No way to request it online as with Tesco. Told that fresh chilled products, where no indication of life is given, may just have one day!!!!
Beware of short Use By dates.
Beware of prices actually charged. Difficult to check as they don't show any offer prices you might have availed of when they confirm your order, so you have to go back and check website against your actual bill when goods arrive. Timewasting!
Have to phone them to request refunds. Tesco does it online.
No confirmation of refunds is sent. You have to check your card statements later.
Dreadful time-wasting online shopping experience.
I hate to have to say it, but Tesco beats them hands down on price, customer service and ease of using their website. As does Ocado.
I have been using Sainsbury on-line grocery service since it started. I have found the whole thing very easy to use. The drivers are friendly and helpful. The groceries that are delivered are normally well within their sell by date and in good condition. If thing go wrong, the customer services are courteous, friendly and sort things out with the minimum of fuss. I have tried Tesco and Asda, Tesco were good but for some reason they did not accept Visa debit cards, so I had to pay via credit card. Which was a pain, which put me off. As for Asda, the whole on line service is poor. From the choice of groceries, time slots and their customer services.
Have shopped with Sainsbury's online for a few years now and they have never let me down. They give 1 hour slots and 99% of the time arrive within this time - in the event they are a few minutes late they have given me a "Late Voucher" to use online - to the value of £10.00! Great! The goods arrive well-packed and separated into different bags for individual products so that the frozen foods are together and meat products etc. They also do a recycling service for your old carrier bags and the driver will take them away. The products 'picked' in-store usually have at least a 4 day shelf life or the freshest date possible - so all in all can't grumble. Will continue to shop with them online - it takes the hassle out of taxis or struggling with bags on the bus.
good service, very rare late, easy to use website.
if ordering food i wouldnt recommend getting meat because they send you the meat that has around 2 days to be ate, so if like me you order alot then you wont have enough time to eat all what you ordered.
poor customer service---plenty of staff walking around and not enough tills open----Tesco ca knock spots off you
My Grandmother,Mother,me and my daughter have been faithful Sainsburys shoppers but no more.Food is not quality like before, stores are more like horrible Tesco, the only good thing is TU clothes, they are excellent.
I have found that the customer service inside Sainsbury and from the deliveries to my front door are much more pleasant than I ever expected. Definitely worth givng them a try if your thinking about it.
I have had good experiences with Sainsburys shopping. Although with all internet shopping the shelf life of the food provided is not long and fruit is often not picked with care. I continue to shop on line but tend to go in store to get fruit and other food items
It wouldnt be so bad that they are overpriced if they actually didnt, each week, make me have to go to customer service desk complaining that what I bought as buy one get one free is actually not shown as that on the reciept. Their prices are increasing disproportionately to income and even to cost price. Politicians blame the banks for this economic depression but I can assure you that the board room at sainsburys and their cronies at tesco etc etc etc are solely responsible for the majority of the excessive inflation rates. Their greed is beyond belief
I hate to say it but Sainsburys is too over priced on the leading brand named items. Even thier offers on the leading named items is still over priced compared to [links removed].
I have stopped shopping there even though sainsburys is right on my door step, I perfer to walk a mile to [link removed] as it means my shopping bill is alot cheeper.
Used Sainsburys all my life and also their online service which is excellent. Just lately in the last four years, I've found my local branch customer service rude and non responsive so I hope this will not continue otherwise they will lose a life long customer.

Sainsburys has a wide range of delicacy foods, which is great. However the shop is overpriced and i can usually find the same goods elsewhere for less money . The staff seem to be some what demoralised and always seem to look tired and over worked. Sainsburys do have some good offers, and if you get out of the shop
quickly, you can have a bargain. I am always aware that if i do not leave with my bargain/offer, I will have over spent and therefore not really had a good shopping experience as I said they over price! So you over spend!
Home delivery was booked and did not show up, spoke to store management not helpful, told me that company did not care if we used them again or not, after we told them that if they did not re-deliver . Won't be using again. Very unhappy customer
I was followed round the store by an I've got nothing better to do ' security guard most intrusive. Then I was told I was not allowed to do my shopping in a box evnen though I emptied it out at the checkout and placed it on the belt. So much for helping the enviroment !!
I moved from Ocado - who's delivery times turned into a joke - often arriving hours late. Sainsburys have been excellent so far, they arrive on time, the drivers are cheery and helpful. I rarely have a problem and when I do Sainsburys sort it out with no fuss.
Just the way online shopping should be, nice and easy!
The quality of food and value for money at Sainsbury's I'm more than happy with. However, the customer service in our local store is - well there's no other way to put it - crap!! Basically, they take their customers for granted - Sainsburys Market Harborough has no serious competition in town and they offer third rate service. Never enough tills open, they don't open tills when queues form (unless you ask) and the attitude of most staff towards customers is very poor. If it wasn't so local and handy I would definetly take my business elsewhere. Lets hope we get an Asda in town!!
Price match my A#*e, I went to my local Sainsbury in Deal and purchased a bar of chocolate for £1:78, on returning home my wife had purchased the same chocolate bar from a simmer field store for £1:48! . Is Sainsburys slowly turning into another Tesco monster? Not happy at all.
I have used a few online stores for doing my grocery shopping, but Sainsburys is consistently very good. You can chose slots of one hour, which helps massively. They only slip up a little bit when choosing replacement goods. Sometimes they can get it a little wrong, but it is difficult to choose for a customer that they don't know.
Head and shoulders above Tesco.
They deliver on time consistently, the drivers are friendly, the goods fresh and they will take back carrier bags which can be excessive on online shops. Touch wood - nothing missing from any order so far. They aren't the cheapest per se - but can you count Asda and Tesco as 'cheap' if you have to keep throwing out out of date fruit and vegetables? Also every order had a missing item with Asda and Tesco - oh, but thanks for the free item every other delivery Asda - random, but kind ;-) Very happy with Sainsburys.
