I ordered motherboard in 06/02/2014 and it was faulty reporting high chipset temps from boot and I phone them and send it back and I haven't hear anything tell I emailed them in 2 days ago 19/02/2014 ask them is there any update and the reply (Further to your query, There is a slight delay booking in RMA's at the moment you will receive an update via the RMA once its booked in and tested) and day later received another email says test Completed and they found the motherboard is faulty as I report and im still waiting for the replacement. the Question is : why I have to wait nearly month for replacement why I have to pay one month Interest for my credit cards for something I still not have ? just advice to anyone who want to order from them don't west your time and money
I sent the motherboard back to scan computers from whom I bought it and they confirmed it was faulty with the board reporting high chipset temps from boot. I only received replacement board after I waited 2 weeks and then emailed asking what was going on, only to discover I have been sent the same motherboard back in the same box right down to the packet with cable opened by me. it is the same serial number/part number and still reporting the same fault.
On the 10th January 2014 I ordered a 3XS system but increased some of the components and spent in total £1600. As expected was told it would be ready in ten days and it would be thoroughly tested. I collected the computer on the 4th and was so looking forward to playing BF4 in ultra. I powered the machine on for the first time and after about 20 mins. I got BSOD error 124 the machine then went through its usual tests. I thought ok might be just a one off but then every time I started the machine and after a period of time it kept doing it. As it was weekend wasn't able to contact someone so i used my phone to video the issue and take photos of the errors my brand new thoroughly tested machine was doing. I sent an email copying the screen shots and videos . I got a response from Sanjay saying you must go into the BIOS and alter the voltage surely a machine that has been tested would have displayed this errors. I asked that on my desktop were trial shareware programs that were used to rigorously test my machine. SCAN replied yes these are the programs. You would expect SCAN to have the full registered versions if they are making over clocked gaming pc,s. After the voltage was raised it still continued to crash. I then spoke to Ben a senior member of staff he said looks like a faulty CPU and that they would need it back to test or replace the CPU. I said i would consider my options and the gloss of a new £1600 pc has now been lost and that i would want a refund under the sales of goods act. I personally returned the machine back on 10th of February 2014 with a letter saying I was rejecting the computer under SOGA 1979 and i want a full refund. we are now 20th and still waiting. I've been told that the machines components needed to be checked off but for 10 days. If this carries on will be contacting my credit card company. reading other forums and issues with SCAN, they will try and wiggle out of refunding anything and blame customer mis use etc. Scan even offered me a chance of having another machine and then pay for it 14 days later but if this is the way they are about a refund, wouldn't like to get involved in a warranty claim etc. This has put me off using SCAN
Pr-ordered OCZ 460 SSD from Scan. No communication to let me know that the OCZ 460 will be delayed. Customer services confirm that the date quoted for availability is more a prediction than a reality. Much like predicting the end of the world - nobody really knows when.....then why give it a date? So cancelled the order no problem. 5 minutes later receive an email to say my refund will take 5 days to clear. I sincerely hope that that's not another prediction....! You won't see me again Sam!! beg yours SCAN!!!
I have been shopping with Scan for nearly a decade and keep coming back. The prices are very competitive. The ordering and delivery system is fantastic and keeps you up to date with every step of the process. Customer service is brilliant, and both times I have had to return faulty items, it was a quick and painless process. Even when Scan are a few pounds more, I would prefer to pay a little extra to use a service I trust.
Ordered from Scan a few times now and have been impressed with their faultless service every time. I used to shop with a different etailer and ended up giving Scan a go after that etailer let me down. Best thing to happen! Would never go back to the old company now. Ordering is easy, managing your account and tracking your orders is easy and they use DPD as a courier so everything comes super quick and gives you real flexibility over when your parcel is delivered. They even text you to let you know the hour slot that it will be delivered in and allow you to change it by text. Absolutely faultless in my opinion!
Excellent prices, excellent website and first class service as long as you order the right products and the right products arrive with nothing missing.
If anything goes wrong you’re stuffed, don’t expect any help getting things replaced, returned, or missing parts sent to you. Customer services is simply abysmal. I think their philosophy is: prevaricate long enough and most customers will give up and look for other solutions.
Having said that, we’ve been using them for several years now because they’ve got a great product range at great prices and for 99% of the time everything gets delivered next day with everything correct and present.
After my recent purchase I can't recommend this company enough, they were superb in every department. The whole ordering process I found to be quite simple and straight forward not to mention quite quick as well. The delivery was absolutely top notch, I opted for the free text message updates and I received 3 texts from the company , one to tell me my item had been dispatched, one to say which day it would be delivered on and finally on the day of delivery I received one that told me the time of delivery within a one hour time frame and who my driver etc would be. When my product arrived I looked at the packaging and realised I could have rolled the item down a flight of concrete steps and it would have been undamaged due to the way it was cushioned and wrapped, again could not ask for more.
In short, do not hesitate, buy from this company as they are one of the best out there.
I ordered a GTX 770 from scan (as I couldn't afford the 780 Ti that I wanted) and the had the lowest price on the market. I'm a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to spending money so I had done my research before choosing Scan and I have to say it was a great choice. I had many options to pay and as soon as I did I received an email at each stage of the processed, from the order being placed, the funds being proccessed, the item being chosen and dispatched. I even got a 1 hour window in which it would be delivered which if fell right in the middle of. DPD courier guy was cool do as we high fived. Recommend to all friends!
I ordered a graphics card before christmas which was reported as in stock. Got an immediate response after placing the order saying there would be a few days delay, and since then a weekly standard response that the product wiwll be despatched soon. Today just been told it will be another month!
Just not acceptable when you report the product as in stock at the point of order, take the money, then spin the customer along with a sequence of "about to ship" holding messages.
Have jut cancelled the order and been told it will be 5 days before I get my money back. Great! Not!
I ordered the LG Nexus 4 from Scan for £147.89 including next day delivery! Ordered the phone in the afternoon and it was delivered the following morning. Was kept up to date throughout about the order status and delivery. Phone came well packed, no chance of damage in transit.
Needing a disk to replace one that seemed to be have a few problems I found a replacement at a sensible price on the Scan site and placed an order in the afternoon for regular next day delivery.
And sure enough, there it was next day delivered by DPD who these days tell you when they will be delivering within a one hour window - and they are accurate in my experience. Good choice of courier by Scan!
Every step of the process from placing the order to confirming that it had been delivered was accompanied by an informational email and/or a text message to mobile. No one else I have dealt with to date has offered so much information.
In summary, good price, fast despatch and delivery and all the tracking information you could wish for. A completely 5 star service.
There is just something about scan.co.uk which makes them fantastic!
Their website is really easy to use, the prices are very very good, the checkout process is super easy. The delivery was less than 24 hours from my order and came with fantastic updates and tracking along the way.
Delivery is from DPD which is known for really good delivery times and allows you to track the position of their van on a map online which I thought was really cool and also provides you with an estimated delivery time of a 1 hour slot... So no more waiting in from 9-5 all day long waiting!
Give Overclockers.co.uk and Amazon a miss for once, scan.co.uk is awesome and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is purchasing computer parts and accessories.
I love Scan. Known about them for about 14 years now, and they only ever seem to get better and better. Most recently I ordered a graphics card from them an hour or two after lunch, and I received the delivery the following morning before I set off to work. Incredible.
On top of this, I got updates which let me know about each step from ordering, to picking, packing and dispatch with a text that allowed me to send to neighbour, choose another day for delivery and even see the little delivery van en route to my house.
Whenever I've contacted them about anything, I get response in a quick time from a real human who understands my request and helps!
Can't say much more about them, in my view they're the best supplier for all my PC bits and I use them for about 95% of everything I buy.
That was the second time I ordered from Scan computer and I have to tell that it is really, really good.
I like the website, it is very easy to find what I need and very informative. The filters work well and the fact that you I can compare products shows they work hard on a outstanding user experience. Not much to say really. This is how it supposed to be.
The delivery is mega fast and I was kept updated all along. I even got a message about the the delay, but it was only half an hour.
I haven't used Scan since my awful experience with them. After spending over £1000 on a new PC build, the GPU began acting up (less than a year after purchase). I registered this with Scan but the problem seemed to resolve itself (temporarily) with driver updates etc. A few months later it died completely and I tried to get a replacement or refund. They sent me back and forth to the manufacturer who mentioned that it was the seller's responsibility. I returned the card to them. Even though over a year had passed I was informed by several creditable sources including citizen's advice etc that my rights were covered since this was a hardware fault and therefore should be covered for several years. Scan asked me to prove it was a hardware fault and when I said I'd do this they changed their mind and said no matter the result they wouldn't help me. The whole time they were rude, especially the manager whom I asked to speak to. He seemed to enjoy belittling my case and was sarcastic and obnoxious.
I was stuck with a broken card. I opened a case at my local court and as soon as it started they refunded half the cost directly into my bank and sent a letter claiming they'd refunded me and thus automatically closed the case. This was completely without my agreement and I was disappointed that I no longer had a chance to get my money back. They lied in their legal documents and used dirty dishonest tactics to close the case which had cost me most of the small refund. I was now out of pocket with nothing to show for it.
I buy computer equipment regularly, often cutting edge latest GPU tech which can be prone to failure. I recently had a faulty card with an Amazon seller who was wonderful and even paid for a courier to collect and refund or replace free of charge. They were so polite and I need to know I can trust my resellers. I know who I'll be spending my money on future purchases with. It definitely wont ever be Scan again.
Bear with me while I explain the problem and the ludicrous behaviour of scan. I will add that I have 16 years experience with building pcs and have always built my own. I have also ery recently started work as a pc technician, for capita, myself.
I assembled the pc on a breadboard, turned on and nothing, fans spin but will not boot. I troubleshooted and tried to boot using other pcus, ram, power packs etc. Still nothing. The motherboards "error" LED light stayed on.
I called scan, they told me it was probably the bios needed flashed, i checked and it wasn't. Called scan, they said to take it to a local pc repair technician rather than return it, odd I thought but did it.
The tech confirmed the motherboard was "dead" and will not boot with any equipment. Called scan with the news, they said to send it back. Scan emailed to say the motherboard had been tested and was not faulty and sent it back.
Tested motherboard and it was the same, would not boot, definitely faulty. Called scan, they said it works, essentially calling me a liar. I said I didnt care if it worked for their tester (it couldn't have) the fact was it did not work here and a tech had confirmed it. Asked for a refund, was told I could not get one as the motherboard had "scratches" on it and they wouldnt be able to resell it. I said there were no scratches on it when I had it.
Scan rep kept insisting that it works and that I had scratched the board. I changed tack and said if it works then they can replace it with a duplicate board. The scan rep said if I sent back to them he could "probably" get one from the board manufacturer, asus, I said probably wasnt good enough, he insisted he "should" be able to replace it. Sent it back and had to pay courier.
Heard nothing from them for a week. Emailed them. They replied saying they would be sending the board back to me as it works. I said no, do not send it back to me, it is faulty. I want a replacment board as discussed already.
Recieved email saying that the motherboard works and that they could send it to asus for testing if I wanted. It was as if the previous couple of weeks had not happened. No mention of replacement.
Emailed them to complain, told them I was considering legal action if they did not replace the board or refund me.
Have had no reply now for a week.
It has been over 6 weeks since the original delivery. The scan reps have been patronising, evasive and close to downright insulting (insinuating that I didn't know what I was doing, that the tech didn't test it, that I had scratched it etc.). Appaling.
the Scan website is well laid out and easy to navigate, so no problem in finding what you want, and if you are not sure then they are easy to phone and talk to about your requirements, they have the knowledge and expertise to give advice on exactly what you need. they have a huge range of pc products , even some not available elsewhere. Fast delivery and all very well packaged, they are also very competetive on prices and quite often cheaper than the competition. i intend to keep Scan at the top of my pc reguirements list and can reccomend you to do the same.
