I haven't used Scan since my awful experience with them. After spending over £1000 on a new PC build, the GPU began acting up (less than a year after purchase). I registered this with Scan but the problem seemed to resolve itself (temporarily) with driver updates etc. A few months later it died completely and I tried to get a replacement or refund. They sent me back and forth to the manufacturer who mentioned that it was the seller's responsibility. I returned the card to them. Even though over a year had passed I was informed by several creditable sources including citizen's advice etc that my rights were covered since this was a hardware fault and therefore should be covered for several years. Scan asked me to prove it was a hardware fault and when I said I'd do this they changed their mind and said no matter the result they wouldn't help me. The whole time they were rude, especially the manager whom I asked to speak to. He seemed to enjoy belittling my case and was sarcastic and obnoxious.
I was stuck with a broken card. I opened a case at my local court and as soon as it started they refunded half the cost directly into my bank and sent a letter claiming they'd refunded me and thus automatically closed the case. This was completely without my agreement and I was disappointed that I no longer had a chance to get my money back. They lied in their legal documents and used dirty dishonest tactics to close the case which had cost me most of the small refund. I was now out of pocket with nothing to show for it.
I buy computer equipment regularly, often cutting edge latest GPU tech which can be prone to failure. I recently had a faulty card with an Amazon seller who was wonderful and even paid for a courier to collect and refund or replace free of charge. They were so polite and I need to know I can trust my resellers. I know who I'll be spending my money on future purchases with. It definitely wont ever be Scan again.
Bear with me while I explain the problem and the ludicrous behaviour of scan. I will add that I have 16 years experience with building pcs and have always built my own. I have also ery recently started work as a pc technician, for capita, myself.
I assembled the pc on a breadboard, turned on and nothing, fans spin but will not boot. I troubleshooted and tried to boot using other pcus, ram, power packs etc. Still nothing. The motherboards "error" LED light stayed on.
I called scan, they told me it was probably the bios needed flashed, i checked and it wasn't. Called scan, they said to take it to a local pc repair technician rather than return it, odd I thought but did it.
The tech confirmed the motherboard was "dead" and will not boot with any equipment. Called scan with the news, they said to send it back. Scan emailed to say the motherboard had been tested and was not faulty and sent it back.
Tested motherboard and it was the same, would not boot, definitely faulty. Called scan, they said it works, essentially calling me a liar. I said I didnt care if it worked for their tester (it couldn't have) the fact was it did not work here and a tech had confirmed it. Asked for a refund, was told I could not get one as the motherboard had "scratches" on it and they wouldnt be able to resell it. I said there were no scratches on it when I had it.
Scan rep kept insisting that it works and that I had scratched the board. I changed tack and said if it works then they can replace it with a duplicate board. The scan rep said if I sent back to them he could "probably" get one from the board manufacturer, asus, I said probably wasnt good enough, he insisted he "should" be able to replace it. Sent it back and had to pay courier.
Heard nothing from them for a week. Emailed them. They replied saying they would be sending the board back to me as it works. I said no, do not send it back to me, it is faulty. I want a replacment board as discussed already.
Recieved email saying that the motherboard works and that they could send it to asus for testing if I wanted. It was as if the previous couple of weeks had not happened. No mention of replacement.
Emailed them to complain, told them I was considering legal action if they did not replace the board or refund me.
Have had no reply now for a week.
It has been over 6 weeks since the original delivery. The scan reps have been patronising, evasive and close to downright insulting (insinuating that I didn't know what I was doing, that the tech didn't test it, that I had scratched it etc.). Appaling.
the Scan website is well laid out and easy to navigate, so no problem in finding what you want, and if you are not sure then they are easy to phone and talk to about your requirements, they have the knowledge and expertise to give advice on exactly what you need. they have a huge range of pc products , even some not available elsewhere. Fast delivery and all very well packaged, they are also very competetive on prices and quite often cheaper than the competition. i intend to keep Scan at the top of my pc reguirements list and can reccomend you to do the same.
I have done a lot of research in price comparing on the products. After researching scan.co.uk came top of the list at very reasonable price I am still waiting to get another product from them waiting till pay day to buy it :).
Forgot to mention they don't even over charge for their next day delivery service, I purchased 2 products with them and turned it into a bundle delivery and only costing me the same postage for one purchase, these products were then tracked and signed making sure that i received it. The packaging I received was packed to perfection and kept the products stable and cushioned with air bubbles.
I would highly recommend Scan.co.uk to anyone I have had a great experience in purchasing my product the website is very well laid out and easy on the eyes.
Scan have a good range of PC products, prices are very low, and the delivery service is fantastic, they inform you at every stage, and you can track your delivery easily. Bear in mind that there is a delivery charge though.
I have been building computers for best part of 20 years now and have used 2 main supplier most of that time . Desperate for a certian hdd last week & found Scan E-tailers, looked at prices & found them very favourable . I decided to try them and was very impressed with their sales system including texts on delivery times. Shall be using them again
everthing was great with these guys, i could picky everthing, they have great on the day deals which saved me well over 40 pounds on building a pc ( just tower ) i got a very good gaming pc for just over 500 pounds so cant complain!!! only thing i did not like was there was no help to see if everthing would work together, i asked on the phone and they said we dont offer this you need to work it out yourself which was a tab disappointing a David i talked to about this.
Getting it dropped off at my house was ten out of ten, live tracking and they were bob on time to the minute!!!!
I've been making computers for personal use since 1999 when compatibility of hardware was a serious concern. Although it has become much easier now I love the overclocking bundles they do as it's all been tested to work with one another at no extra cost than buying them elsewhere as far as I can tell. Add to this the personal touch and friendliness of the company, I have found my go to company when it comes to new machine rebuilds.
I have never heard of scan before until i wanted a decent pc case, I can't fault them on price as it was the cheapest around, Because it was over certain price postage was free and next day delivery and you can track your parcel all the way and even say what time the delivery is, Since then have bought couple items they really are good priced always dispatched in 1 day for next day delivery excellent can't fault them, These items as they where cheaper had to pay the postage but there is no way i can fault the postal charges as it is a decent price for next day delivery with tracking all the way. So i recommend this site to anyone can't go wrong!!
Amazing shipping and they are very quick on shipping there items u have to pay for it, but it's worth it cause they are really good, I hope I don't encounter any problems s with the item I bought from them as I haven't dealt with their customer service yet
I have spent thousands on Scan over the years, and they have always been good for me. They dispatch on time, and can get items to me within a day.
Once I had to return a refurbed graphics card to them, that unfortunately was no longer in stock. Unexpectedly they refunded the whole cost of the card to my bank account, I personally expected store credit. I bought a new card from them anyway, I wouldn't have bothered with anywhere else.
Ordered late on a Friday night, selected next day delivery (which obviously would be Monday) and not only was the external hard drive I ordered the cheapest I could find on the web, but their customer care is outstanding by letting me know by text messages what was happening with my order every step of the way - even telling me first thing on Monday morning that my parcel would be delivered (by DPD) between 15:04 - 16:04 ... Astonishingly, there was a knock on the door at 15:10 !! It is little touches like this that will make Scan my first place to shop in future Keep it up and !!
I've ordered from Scan a number of times over the last few weeks, and I have to say they are one of the best online e-tailers I've dealt with. SMS updates are a must - they're free and are very useful as you get an update every time the status of your order changes. Good pricing too!
After checking out many companies to deal with my special product request I chose Scan.co.uk and I didn't know it but it was a wise decision indeed. I required next day delivery and they did just that. With very good packaging I could not ask for more. Will buy from again, thankyou!
