Cheap & Cheerful.

I ordered an outdoor keysafe on their click & collect to be picked up from the Letchworth store. The same keysafe cost £30 in B&Q & £20 in screwfix.
I ordered it at 10am & went to collect at 1pm. It's also good to know that the item is held for 14 days, which is handy if you can't get there same day.
The man who served me was pleasant enough. Service is quick & convenient. I would shop here again.

Unreliable

I ordered a tin of paint for next day collection at my local branch. When I went to collect it wasn't there. Branch didn't know why.
I phoned the company and the first response was that they didn't know why and offered to rectify the situation. I suggested that rather me having to go to the branch again, could they deliver it? They said ok but it would cost me a fiver extra!
I suggested they waive the delivery charge, they checked and said they didn't have the item in stock so couldn't fulfil my order anyway!!!!!
Why did they accept my order?
Why did they not advise me or the branch by phone or email?
Why haven't they offered me any recompense for my wasted journey? Just a couple of quid off a future purchase would have been something.
Customer service is obviously not one of their priorities so I will not be relying on them again!

Don't rely on their reviews!

Although I only buy from Screwfix as a last resort, I do make a habit of reading the product reviews before buying identical items elsewhere. Of late, I'm beginning to harbour suspicions that Screwfix are censoring reviews when they could have a bad impact on sales, despite their claims that even adverse reviews will be published.

The last two of my recent reviews have failed to appear, despite following the regulations to the letter: maybe it's because I had the audacity to criticise the quality of the products I bought from there.

Prices, good. Staff, not so great.

First I must admit I love the prices at Screwfix. On most things they are cheaper, but they really need to up their game when it comes to staff knowledge of their products in the real world. OK, they've expanded quickly and I now have a store within 5 minutes (when it used to be half hour) but it seems they are reliant on clueless kids for running the stores. B&Q maybe more pricey, but it wins on staff knowledge and expertise!

Screwfix are rubbish

I've recent made two orders for delivery online and if done before 7pm they garuantee next day delivery well.....not so much.

First order was apparently delivery to wrong logistics depo and second one had quarter the ordered items delivered but the rest was only arriving a day later. I phoned screwfix and they told me to refuse delivery which I did.

I at that time then had to go out and purchase the required materials and spend £100 more. I also had to cancel the electrician I booked in 4weeks back who has invoices me £120 for his time lost. Never mind the time lost ordering online.i also wrote an email to screwfix stating my unhappiness with their service. I've, not surprisingly, heard nothing back. Just to top it all off, I just phoned screwfix again to ask about my refund and they say it will take 3-5 days to get back in my account. What absolutely shocking service from a company like this that should have exceptional logistics in place.

I don't think I'll be using screwfix any longer. They obviously don't want my business or care about their customers.

Imminent demise!

The slow demise of screwfix is imminent! They used to be good but since being bought out by B&Q, prices up, quality down, stock levels non-existent, on the B&Q profit trail they no longer compete in the marketplace! All things to all men no longer works! Use toolstation, grahams, CTD if you value your time and money!

Dont bother !

Went to visit a new opening store on a 4 day promotion.
I specifically wanted a corded drill which I informed the assistant who clearly was not listening. First rule of customer service broken.
The assistant then launched into a bamboozling torrent of sales spiel, trying to sell me a cordless product that I did not want. The assistant then called over another colleague, who again launched into another torrent of technical drivel about other items supposedly on offer about five times more expensive than toolstation products that I had previously researched. I can only assume that new staff are on a performance review and commission. Surely the first rule of selling is listen to the customer. I was so dis-interested at this point I didnt even bother to go into the shop and after this experience I dont intend to return. On leaving informed the greeter in the car park that I came to purchase a drill not a headache ! Not impressed !!

Steer clear! Atrocious service

I am a self employed plumbing and heating engineer. I used to use the Worcester branch of Screwfix. I only use Screwfix if I have no other options. Why do I avoid Screwfix at all costs?

1. The stocking issue. Even the most basic items are rarely in stock. I mean it is not like any of the hardware I buy has best before dates. This isn't even the stuff listed as collect next day.

2. The loud music. As I say I only use Screwfix/Plumbfix in desperation these days. What really annoys me is when I walk up to the sales counter radio 1 is blaring out at full blast. It takes 10 minutes for a drone to spot you. They say "sorry mate". Then I ask for a product that is invariable out of stock.

3. Customer services. When complaints are made to customer services they just shrug their shoulders. The Worcester store opened half hour late the other month. I asked for a product only to be told that it was out of stock. Customer services were well use someone else. Don't get me wrong. I am not big time. My materials bills are only a couple of thousand pounds a month. I honestly try not to give any of it to Screwfix.

It is not just me. Many of my friends in the trade feel the same way. I can not advise my friends strongly enough to stay away from Screwfix.

I shop at Toolstation, Grahams and BES online

Sales assistant the title is a joke

Having looked through Scewfix catalog on line and trying to find a 5ft floresant tube &starter the same ones as already fitted , due to so many in catatog , I decided in the end it would be easier to take the parts down to the store to match them up . Only to be told when i got there I would have to look through their catalog to give the assistant a part number as same as on line . When I explained I was not a electician . I was told he was only a sales assistant and how did he know which tube it was . I left and found a small electrical supplies which took 5 mins to get the parts . So mutch for sales assistant not .

Hard to find...

---what I want.
Just gone back to them after 3 years away (with another high-profile Somerset supplier!) and they seem to have sorted a lot of their stock issues. But the Catalogue is so big, it needs a bigger index!!!

BE CAREFUL ABOUT A INFLEXIBLE DELIVERY SERVICE

It is ridiculous you cannot change or delete an order, even after seconds!

I have changed address few months a go and I have made an order on the screwfix website, I have changed my address, but for some reasons it kept the new address only as delivery address. So the order was placed on the wrong delivery address. I called immediately to change it, but I was told it was impossible as the order will have to be delivered to the wrong address first and just afterwards I will be able to arrange a new delivery! And if the people living at my old address are not honest and they decide to take to order, I will loose the stuff I have bought.

A very stupid an inefficient system! I will never buy from Screwfix!

I will NEVER order from screwfix again

Ordered 2 radiators on Wednesday. Paid extra for the next day delivery service before 10.30am. Sent e mail saying they were on their way so took the morning off work but only 1 radiator turned up. The man from parcel force said he didnt know where the other one was and it wasn't his problem. Called screwfix who promised to track the missing radiator and get back to me but they didn't. I phoned up and was told it had been located and should be there the next day so took another morning off work. No radiator...no phone call. So had to call them again...they had tracked the radiator down to the rochdale depot but could not tell me when it would be delivered. They said it might be the next morning but no guarantees. Would not leave it in the garage as it had to be signed for and I wasn't going to loose a third morning's pay in the off chance it would come. They couldn't tell me when it would be delivered. I cancelled the order and will NEVER buy from screwfix again.

Screwfix has dreadful unprofessional sales practices.

Some words of warning about screwfix.

I have been using screwfix for quite a while now but unfortunately every time I have
bought something I get plagued with the sales person trying to get me to purchase more items that you are not really needing, what screwfix don't like is a reply from the purchaser saying I’m not needing anything else for now thanks.

On Monday the 9th I went into the Dunfermline screwfix establishment to purchase
9 litres of red cedar Fence life 62728 price £9.99 also a tin of ronseal dark oak wood stain 71848 £13.99 that should add up to £23.98. I put my debit card into the card reader And punched in my number as I was doing this what popped up on the screen was £28.98 when I queried the price and said to the sales assistant don’t debit my card yet that’s the wrong price to late as I was saying that he pressed the button and £28 98 was swallowed out of my account.

He informed me that was the price now and there is nothing he could do about it
I said you are way over the B&Q price for these items just refund my card
And I'll get them there, this is where the problems starts I asked the sales assistant when will my card get refunded as I did not authorise you to take money out my debit card, your card will be credited right away was the answer.

I’m still waiting on £28.98 being refunded into my account.

A word of warning DO NOT put your card into screwfix card reader without
knowing precisely how much the items you are purchasing are going to cost you and don't be pressured into buying other items you don’t need by an overzealous sales assistant or is that the screwfix policy to hassle customers into buying other items, I've been in three other screwfix shops and every salesperson has asked me three or four time if I needed anything else to go with the items I have bought making suggestions what else I might need.

This is a learning curve for me I will NEVER purchase anything from screwfix again, with a little research You will find whatever you are after elsewhere for a lot cheaper and much less hassle.

I ended up getting all what I needed for £4 cheaper and instead of 9 litres of red cedar fence life I got 12 litres at B&Q.

Ian.

Stockless

Fair enough screwfix is handy and often cheaper and its sister company b and q , but on 50% of times I visted 3 of the branches they never have the stock you require or not enough stock.
Come on get a grip.

Dangerous product supplied by Screwfix

Purchased a Titan long reach hedge trimmer from Screwfix online, product priced at reasonable cost. Item delivered promptly the following day by Parcelforce. I opened the item and noticed a smell of petrol from the box, on inspection I noticed that the guard had grass on it, the product had obviously been used. I contacted Screwfix by telephone and informed the operator of the problem, l was informed that the item was not in stock at any of the branches, I was offered a refund which I was a bit reluctant to accept, as I really wanted and needed this item. I suggested that if the item was reduced and as long as it was working then I would accept it. I was offered a £20 discount, I was then informed that it would be off the next purchase, anyway I accepted this and agreed that on condition that it was ok I would keep the item. Later on further inspection of the item and packaging I found a delivery note with a handwritten explanation of the fault. The previous purchaser of this item had assembled and used this product only to find that the petrol cap was leaking and was extremely dangerous to use. SCREWFIX SHOULD NOT HAVE SENT THIS PRODUCT OUT AS NEW AND SHOULD CERTAINLY NOT HAVE SENT OUT A DANGEROUS ITEM WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY HAD THE DELIVERY NOTE BEEN TAKEN OUT. This was the first item purchased from Screwfix, unfortunately with this service it will be the last.

Generally good,, except when they fail to deliver, then poor attitude of staff

Generally have performed quite well over the years i have been dealing with them,
However when the delivery dose not turn up on the day it is promised and confirmed, it is not given any priority to secure its delivered the next day ..... but regrettably that,s not the case.
When i rang their staff ( including eventually speaking to a manager) and requested t they take some initiative with their carrier to ensure it comes on the next working day (unfortunately i now also got caught up with a weekend which compounds the delay further)
My request was not received with enthusiasm. worse i was left with the clear impression they simply dont care a hoot about inconvenienced customers

Such a shame

What screwfix dont want you to know

Yes they are cheap almost everytime but heres the warning.

Power tools etc etc and all made special order by manufacturers for screwfix to meet a budget buying price. When you see a screwfix dewalt drill thats only £89 but everywhere else sells it for £99 you need to know that this price reduction is because the drills made for screwfix are constructed using a poor quality plastic gearset instead of a metallic cast item. Great for the guy who uses a drill twice a year but no good for anyone using it weekly hence why screwfix drills never last very long nor can they be repaired by official dealerships.
I feel as a customer that screwfix are cheating us all.
You are not buying the same quality of tool
