Avoid at all costs

Please do yourself a favour and stay well away from this company. Renovations can be stressful enough, but I have never had such a painful experience with any other contractor or company. I ordered my wardrobe from Sharps last summer and it still has not been fitted correctly seven months later. I have had four incorrect material deliveries, seven missed fitting appointments, three missed planning appointments (each time, they just do not turn up and if you are lucky they call you half an hour into the scheduled appointment time to tell you they won't be coming). My interactions with the staff here have led me to believe that everyone (except maybe one) is incompetent, lazy, stupid and rude. Absolute disgrace of a company. Stay well away.

4 formal complaints to Sharps !! 4th March 2014

FORMAL COMPAINT E MAILED TWO DAYs AGO -still no acknowledgement
Designer helpful but all downhill from there on in.
1. Misrepresentation of goods. Wardrobe doors did not match chosen sample.
2. Failure to deliver parts as per surveyors sizing - doors too short.
3. Unnecessary delays in rectifying problems, with customer having to do all the chasing. Far too many elements of the service are contracted out with no on taking overall responsibility.
4. The absolute worst failure - very poor customer awareness and organisational communication skills.
I would never recommend Sharps to anyone as you are paying a great deal of money for a very unsatisfactory and disappointing service,

rip off --very poor quality

Haven done 1 bedroom through Hammonds we thought we will try Sharps for 2nd and 3rd bedroom as they were offering hugh sale etc .( which is a not true all they do it double their price and the half it to look like dscount ).We explained sales man/designer what we expect and we agreed to a design ..We were promised good quality work ..After having some hiccups with arranging delivery ,bedrooms were fitted 2 days ago ..Can't belive how little has been put in for so much money and of such poor quality.
All we got for our money is cupboard frame, doors ,saome shelves and poor quality door hinges and handles ..The quality of work is also poor ,lots of gaps .one of the door doesn't open properly ..very poor compared with Hammonds ..
am going to give them call and hope the door ,gaps will be sorted and also hope they will replace these cheap quality door hinges and handles

Beyond Words!!!! Worst Service and Quality Ever - Stay Away

Goodness, I do not know where to start as this whole experience has been a complete NIGHTMARE!!!!!

My husband and I ordered the shaker range and this was delivered by two lovely guys after this everything went totally wrong. I have experienced the worst customer service in my whole life. I spoke to one of the Managers who told me I should go to the Citizens Advice Bureau - I put the phone down on him in the end. I cannot believe we have paid nearly £4,000 for poor quality and rude service.

It started when I was cancelled two hours before close of business the day before the fitter was due. They were cancelling not because the fitter was poorly or the floods, but because he was incompetent at the previous job. Apparently he realised on the Wednesday morning at 11am he was not going to be able to make it to me on Thursday and had to stay with the existing client. I was advised at 3pm in the afternoon. I am self employed and had turned down work for the whole duration of the fitting - so lost earnings on top of the £4,000. Well to be fair £3,800!!! So the fitter came Monday morning and went home at lunchtime with a bad back - nice man - these things happen. He came back the following day and said all was fine and could I pay. I checked the doors and they were bowed. So he had fitted sub-standard doors and was prepared to take money and drive off. I refused to pay the final £400 until they resolved the matter. After he left I looked in the bedroom again and notice the chest of drawers were completely lop sided - it was awful I wanted to cry. So the following day I spoke to the office who said they would resolve everything , baring in mind now it is the second week and I have again lost work, cannot go out as I am not prepared to leave strangers in my house, although they thought this would be acceptable!!!!! So - today - Friday I thought I would have a lovely lie in but got up to let the fitter in only to be told the two doors to be replaced he had brought with him were warped. So he has reported this to the office and he has fitted them, he told me he had done the best with his skills to try and make them look straight. I spoke to him about the lopsided drawers and he said I must have the eyes of a Falcon!!!!!! This is ridiculous as it was so obvious. Anyway he said there were no excuses he would rectify this. I think the sad thing is I actually liked this gentleman - how stupid and gullable am I, especially after I had to spend two hours cleaning the wardrobes when he had finished, the dirty marks on them were unbelievable!!!! I took photos and offered to send them through, but is it worth me bothering - I doubt it - just wasting more of my time and energy.

I am so annoyed with myself that I didn't do sufficient research before placing this order, In fact, I want to cry and if you are reading this and think for some reason I am making any of this up or being mean for any reason, then I can promise you I am not. If you spend any money with this company you will regret it. I had read the testimonials on their own website which are super, I certainly wonder how many are genuine and if they are then I am pleased for these customers.

My advice would be completely stay away from this company. Well where am I now. Well I told the fitter I wanted my husband to see the warped doors tonight to see if he is satisfied and then I will have no choice but to hand over the £400 on Monday as I signed a contract. However, I have so learnt a lesson, I put faith in what I thought was a professional, nationwide company and have received the most awful service ever. Oh and the rubbish hasn't been collected either - the fitter saw it this morning and said he was very suprised. I said I wasn't!!!!!!!!!!

Well, lesson very much learned to do more research. My sister warned me from the beginning saying it was very strange you had to pay up front and that should have been an alarm bell as it sends out the message unlike my window and conservatory company and other professional companies that have been at my house that they do not have faith in their quality product to ensure the customer will receive an excellent service.

So - to summarise - lost earnings, two weeks out of my diary, numerous telephone calls. I only spoke to one lady called Tina that had good customer service skills and seemed to empathise and be genuinely concerned I had had a nightmare, but unfortunately this doesn't replace my lost earnings or lost time.

STAY AWAY = DON'T PUT YOURSELF THROUGH IT AND TO THE PEOPLE AT SHARPS IF YOU ARE READING THIS. WOULDN'T IT BE NICE IF YOU OFFERED ME SOME COMPENSATION - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA - I am sure your response will be go to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Very disappointed and upset customer.

over priced, poor quality, terrible service

I think if you are lucky and everyhing goes right, then the experience might be different. However start to finish Sharps were awful. The designer showed us no samples and the wardrobe doors didn't match the surrounds when fitted. We had a rude surveyor and delivery turned up a day earlier than agreed. We had sharps come and replace the surrounds when field manager agreed they didnt matchvand looked cheap,, que more time off for deliveries and fitting on top of the original fitting time. But I found out they arent really a bespoke service and you cant have the doors any size. The fitted didnt turn up on the saturday agreed for the refit on sat 21 dec and all the offices were closed with no manager on call apparently. When the fitter did come my husband had to drive to screwfix to buy him sealant. We were promised a rubbish collection for the refit which never happened. Each time we rung to complain no one would help or call us back when they said they would. The complaint was so badly handled I am surprised they can organise anything. In the end had to fight tooth and nail to get any compensation and I didnt even get an apology. They are extremely over priced for what they are. I thought that I would receive excellent service for that price. That wasn't the case. I would never use them again. The materials are poor quality (Milan range) and the service dire.

A joke of a company!

Sharps are the worst company I have ever had to deal with!
Being such a huge company we did not review before we bought. Such a huge mistake!!!!!!
Wardrobes designed, surveyors approval, money taken in 7 days, guaranteed fitting before Xmas......... 3 months later still waiting for a 1.5 metre straight run of wardrobe to be completed.
Customer service are a complete joke they are very rude, they do not have good knowledge of the product they sell, they outright tell you anything to get you off the phone & they do not have basic customer service skills........one even told me that they do not have a complaint procedure that they had never heard of such a thing. Really?

Be warned that if you order the shaker style wardrobe the doors are a different finish and colour to the surround of the wardrobe and this is very noticeable. When complaining we were told we had to wait 4-6 weeks for a new surround to be especially made so that it matched. Customer service told me that this wasn't a common complaint however all 3 fitters that have attended have each said that this is one of the main complaints that get when fitting this style.

Bottom line, for £2000 wardrobe there should never be a complaint, wood should not be turning up damaged, fitters should not be turning up hours late....... Or not at all and filler should not be used to cover shoddy mistakes!!!!!!

WE ALL NEED TO COMPLAIN TO THE BBC WATCHDOG. BAD PRESS WILL STOP MORE PEOPLE MAKING THE MISTAKE OF USING THIS AWFUL COMPANY!!!!!!

Shoddy service

Planning went okay. Survey went okay. However, customer service is a joke. They don't even know what percentage of payment to take from you. I had one person telling me I had to pay full price upon delivery of the furniture, before fitting, only to have another tell me it was 50%. Thought it was very strange to have to pay the full price before they had even fitted the furniture, and lo and behold that wasn't correct. Be careful if they tell you to do this and question them about it.

Following that, my fitting was meant to have started yesterday. I took time off work so I could be home when they came. In the morning I received a call from the fitter who was supposedly 'ill' but actually sounded more like he was hungover. Spoke to Sharps customer services and they said they would try and get another fitter out to me ASAP. As of yet I have heard nothing back from them and every time I phone they fob me off and say there are no other fitters available. You'd think a big company would have some extra fitters they could phone but apparently not. They have not been able to re-arrange a date for me yet and as far as I'm concerned this has been a week wasted and I have used my holiday time from work for this.

I had concerns when i placed my order due to seeing negative reviews, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well look where I am now. Listen to this review and DO NOT place an order for your furniture with Sharps. You will likely be let down.

Poor quality, lack of customer service & over priced

I paid over £3,000 for a bespoke 3 door wardrobe. Admittedly the surveyor planned exactly what we wanted, but that's where the good experience ended!
When the doors where delivered the delivery men damaged my bathroom wall, I emailed customer service And had no response, I now notice that they have a disclaimer that they are not responsible for damage to property, sorry but they will find they are totally responsible for damage if their staff, wearing their uniforms damage any property.
When the fitter arrived, not only was one of the doors damaged - warning do not order the etched glass, you can scrape the etching off with your nail, or the white gloss doors, they are plastic underneath and can bubble off, one of the doors did not fit correctly, so the fitter was instructed over the phone to change the carcass. Finally we had our dream bedroom, until a couple of days later when one of the handles they glued onto the door came off. This is an ongoing issue and has been "fixed" several times, on one occasion the fitter damaged the door , yes he scratched off some of the etching! I was offered a new door, but couldn't bear to go through all the damaged walls again, so accepted £50 for the minor damage, only for the handle to come off again. Each time they re glue the handle, more and more of the etching is removed.
The customer service department are rude and unhelpful and send letters with incorrect dates and days for repairs, all in all a terrible experience. Don't even bother getting a quote it will be way over what the job is worth!

Diabolical customer service, don't use them

Arranged a date to meet the designer, and he cancelled on the day. Finally came out and sold us this wardrobe with a commit today today and it'll be in by the end of the month and get a reduced discount. So we bought the story and wish we never had.

We are now 2 weeks past that deadline have taken 3 days out of work to wait for deliveries or installations and just had our installation cancelled for tomorrow at 4.30 (15 mins before customer service shuts).

It's not worth the money or your time using this company. The whole operation is a joke!

Oh and if you try and get a refund they have contractual clauses that mean they can get away with this rubbish customer service.

I get better service from IKEA for 10% of the cost!

Don't waste your time enquiring

I visited a HomeBase/Sharps showroom. Impressed by the general look/feel of demonstration furniture, I asked for some pricing details. The following conversation happened:

Me: "How much would this wardrobe cost?"
Salesperson: "I wish I knew, but each project is bespoke"
Me: "But this one - this exact wardrobe - how much would it cost?"
Salesperson: "As I said, each job is prices on a bespoke size, fitting and materials."
Me: "No— how much would this exact size, exact spec, exact fitting cost me?"
Salesperson: "It could still vary massively - why don't we send a designer round to give you a quote?"

So I had a designer visit two days later, measure the space, and after he scamped some (bad) biro sketches on the back of a form of a 150cm simple wardrobe with rails (he's a 'designer'... really?) he arrived at a whopping £2500 price tag, after their complicated and farcical discount compilation.

I showed him the door.

Since then I've had two letters giving me a further reduction and another discount. There's no way on earth their products are worth the initial price tag. They're one grade up from a decent fitted Ikea wardrobe, but - after 'discounts' - cost four times as much.

I can't vouch for the fitting service or finished product, but I was certainly left with a feeling that they were unconvincing, unknowledgeable, selling average products at an unrealistically premium price.

Avoid at all costs

Having had sharps 3 years ago & being very satisfied we decided to use them again. The salesman was very helpful but it was push push & pressure from day 1. We did try to cancel the order as we realised the upheaval we were going to experience wasn't worth it as my husband & I don't have the best of health. We were talked round by the salesman promising us the fitters would work round us & help as much as poss. Unfortunately the salesman said one thing, the fitters said something else. We had 2 surveyors as the 1st one broke out in a sweat after 2 hours saying it wasn't possible to fit the wardrobes the salesman had designed, another surveyor came & redesigned the original plans. We were told that the fitter would do half the room as it was obvious we were going to struggle in a 2 bedroom cottage with nowhere to put clothes & furniture etc & be able to sleep, we ended up with a mattress on the floor, we are both pensioners!!! The fitter arrived walked in the room & turned round & walked out I was told to phone the office he couldn't fit the wardrobes the room needed to be completely empty, I tried to explain to him that we had been told it could be done, to cut a very long story short I was left in floods of tears & when I phoned the office they agreed with the fitter, I phoned the salesman to tell him & he said he would sort it, it could be done the fitter was obviously having a bad day!!!! To cut a very long frustrating story short this went on for another week until our bedroom was stripped bare & we were struggling when another fitter arrived & practically threw our wardrobes together in record time. Every time I rang to complain I was passed round to different people, it all came down to the salesman had told us one thing the fitters said something else. We have now been waiting 3 months for compensation that was promised to us in November it is now almost February. If you do decide to have sharps make sure you read the small print before you sign on the dotted line, although that could take you several hours!!!!! On the plus side the chaps that deliver your wardrobes are very nice & efficient.

DISGUSTING, DONT USE THEM !!!!!

Shockingly bad experience from start to finish. Fitter arrived, very rude & sat in car for an hour because he wasn't keen on fitting wardrobes on carpet ( apparently it's just harder work !) although surveyor had told us it wouldn't be a problem . All this time I was trying to get a civil conversation out of customer services ( & failed ) . Our brand new bedroom in our brand new house was turned into a dirty , dusty workshop for 5 days , not to mention fitter traipsing up & down stairs in dirty shoes on our brand new cream carpet.
We were left with dirty cream carpets, marked & dirty walls & ceilings & very average furniture costing thousands of pounds !!!
Funnily enough .... I filled in their customer questionnaire to this effect & have never heard anything back ... That was 3 months ago !! Talk about take your money & run !!!!

Don't use sharps unless you are desperate , simply shocking !!!!

50% Sale which they offer all year round? Really?

Decided to have a design visit after converting our attic. All was going well right up to the point that the price was worked out. Seems that Manufacture, design and fitting would cost, before discount, a whopping £20,000 for 5 meter run with 45 degree angles at both ends. then came the 50% sale offer, then the 20% discount, then the 10% buy today. So 80% off? No, that's 50% off the £20,000 = £1000, then 20% off the £10000 = £8000, then 10% off £8000 = £7200. Not the 80% = £4000.

Here is the kicker and, in my unproffesional opinion, the misselling. The lovely design lady stated that the 50% sale is offered on all sales all year round. An all year round sale or a 100% mark up on actual sale price proir to offering an amazing 50% off?

I can not offer an opinion on quality or fitting as I asked the now not so nice lady to leave as I do not buy from dishonest sellers.

As a note, my 4 meter x 5 meter extension cost £8,450.

Don't use Sharps they are an absolute shambles.

We are still trying to get the wardrobes that were fitted in April sorted out, as they still don't fit properly. We have had wood sitting on our bedroom floor since September waiting for the fitter to return and finish the job. Sharps are expensive and not worth the money. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Sharps fitters manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

I was promised a Sharps bedroom to be fitted before Xmas. Booked in mid November. Asked for fitting to take place day after delivery which they agreed. Goods were delivered on Tuesday 11th December but fitter did not turn up the next day as arranged. No phone call no proper explanation! Five days later bedroom still not fitted despite numerous phone calls. Wish I had stopped the check which I had paid on delivery of the goods. Do not pay for the cost of installation until after installation has been made!! Only the cost of the materials. I wish I had could have cancelled and claimed back from credit card as Sharps are unwilling to offer refund on failure to install on time, but I paid by cheque. I have no confidence in customer service department or the fitters...they lie to get your money before xmas! Clearly they do not have enough fitters. Job has now started but not finished with different fitters and work seems rushed - wall already damaged! Wish I had gone to Ikea...would have been less hassle. Saying sorry doesn't fix the problem.....

Let down

Went with Sharps on reputation and were basically lied to when the sales guy came round and took a deposit on the promise of installation by Christmas. When the next guy came round to do final measurements he said that it wasn't possible and it would be w/c 6th with no record of the original promise. He wouldn't leave without a signature and the original sales guy then started offering discounts and admitted that he was doing the same for other customers.

Clearly they have targets to hit and were just offering empty promises on the hope of getting people to sign up and then assuming they'd get away with it through discounting. Cheap trick and it basically messed up all our plans - carpet fitting booked after the wardrobes, needed to be in by Xmas etc.

Customers services couldn't help and when I got hold of the sales guy again and kicked up a stink he just wanted to get rid of us - and I don't blame him.

All you want is a bit of honesty and you don't seem to get it from this company. I hope this was a one off.

Not great, not all bad

I wrote a review in November when I was still expecting my fitting to take place. I said at the time that I was surprised that everyone else was so glowing as I was having a nightmare experience. Looking through the most recent reviews I was surprised how negative everyone is now. If I'd seen them first, I definitely wouldn't have gone with Sharps. Like everyone else, I thought if you paid a lot, you got the best for your money.
Although Sharps ignored my 'customer review' on their own site, they did read the one on this site as I had a call from a very nice, apologetic lady who offered me a £100 gesture of good will. The next day I also received a bouquet of flowers from Sharps. The customer services I spoke to were always very, very helpful.
After installation I was not at all happy. They sent a different fitter to pull it apart and refit. It still wasn't great and certainly not to the standard they promise "with not an inch of space wasted". After I'd finally signed off on the job, just to get rid of them really, I got stuck in with a pot of paint and some filler and with a little bit of time and effort they don't look too bad.
I truly wish I had stuck with my original plan of sliding doors, fitted by myself, with every inch of inside space being used. It would have cost me half the price, and a lot less hassle.

Sharps service is sharp, efficient and faultless

Efficient and professional service from start to finish. Quality of fitted wardrobes excellent and the fitting service was carried out by a qualified and knowledgeable joiner.
My box room has been transformed and is now a walk-in dressing room with plenty hanging space and storage plus a custom made set of drawers and matching mirror. I am very pleased with the end result and I would not hesitate to recommend Sharps to anyone. I would definitely use Sharps again without a doubt. (David McIlroy)

Couldn't Ask for Better

From the first phone call arranging the initial appointment to the finished job only three weeks later, we received excellent service - communication was outstanding as well as the finished articles - 2 sets of wardrobes in our loft conversion. The units fit perfectly into the sloping roof and look so good. We are delighted.
