I was taken in by some of these, now clearly sponsored, good reviews. Had I seen one bad one I would not have gone near this company! Had much the same experience as others, deadlines missed and evasive emails flowed. After reading these terrible reviews I've decided to cut my losses after a few days of ranting, and cancel my order in anticipation of a lengthy refund process! Will put this down as a learning experience!
Ordered a Panasonic TZ7 Camera. It was in stock and my order was acknowledged immediately. I was able to track its delivery progress regularly. Simply Electronics stated free delivery in 3-10 days and it arrived safe and sound on the eighth day. Their prices are incredibly competetive and I would have no hesitation in using them again should I require any electronic items.

As with some of the negative reviews below, i have fallen foul to this AWEFUL company.. When i ordered my 500mm lens by telephone, i told them i was going on a wildlife photo holiday and asked them if they were able to send the lens that week and they said Yes they would and prioritize my order.. On that basis, i went ahead with the purchase.... A few days later my order status was still in order received mode on my account... I called them and they said they were still in the said time frame... When i said i had been told i would receive the lens that week, they said again that they would give priority to the order.... Status changed two days later to processing on my account page... I called them and emailed them over and over and got nowhere with them... Finally last Monday they emailed me apologizing for the delay and offered me a free 3 in 1 cleaning kit.. ( They do this with everyone it seems ) Another delay tactic.... They also said i would receive my lens in 2 - 3 days... I had postponed my holiday by this time and rearranged everything ( At Cost )... As i expected by this time and after reading reviews on these villans, the lens still was not dispatched and i received another email from them saying it would be dispatched late the following week... All They do is LIE and delay you any way they can... I Then told them i had read others reviews and told them i was getting in contact with The Hong Kong Police as others have done... Within 1 hour of telling them this, my order status changed to Item packing ready for dispatch... I thought at last they got the message and are going to send my lens.... Stupid me for thinking that.... 2 days later my account status was Still Packing ready to ship... ( it was just a stalling technique again) I once again threatened to cancel the order and call the Police and i sent an email to them every few hours to get them to move on this... Friday they changed the status of my account to Waiting for courier dispatch, your item will be dispatched today.... Yes you guessed it... The item was not dispatched... Nor the next day or the next or the next... I Canceled my order and asked for a refund... They offered me another 3 in 1 cleaning kit.. Hahaaaa!!!!!
Just had another email from them as i was writing this, asking me not to cancel my order and it is on the list for dispatch... Now then.. They said that last Tuesday then again on Thursday and Friday and Yesterday... Would YOU Believe them ???
They now are saying they are pulling all their resources out to stop the delivery... What Delivery??? Its not even been shipped... They are stalling again.. It wouldnt surprise me if they actually tell me its too late and they cant stop it and actually dispatch it... That way, they get to keep my money longer... And if it ever did arrive, do you think it will be perfect or faulty ? Read other peoples reviews and you decide...
UPDATE.... Whether its because i pestered them to death or not i dont know but in all fairness to simply electronics they have just refunded me IN FULL....
i placed my order on 15.5.13 for Samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 16gb 3g wifi. after waiting 12 woring days i emailed simply electronics only to get no reply do i call them. They said they would look into it, someone emailed me saying very sorry but item was out of stock but they could send me a white version. So i emailed to say if it was exactly the same spec then this would be fine, yet again no reply so i phoned again the person on phone said i never replied to email and i had to go to website and submit another email to confirm the new order for white version so i did, again saying only if it was same spec. Order placed and i got an email saying thanks for order white version but 8gb. i emailed again when someone eventually replied they said it was same spec... anyway after numerous emails since i still have not received any item. i wanted to make a complaint again they ignore that email. when i call they tell me to email, no managers to speak to and someone would reply.. i did ask for my order to be cancelled but im not allowed as my order is somewhere on route... Will i ever see my order or money back (who knows) VERY POOR SERVICE WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN
The prices are attractive, the service isn't.
Despite messaging them to confirm when and where the item was being sent from (I'm in the UK) they blatantly lied repeatedly by email and over the 'phone.
The item (a camera lens that was needed fairly promptly) was - eventually - sent from Hong Kong. By that time we'd already bought, paid for and had delivered ( to a remote part of Northern Ireland) another lens.
We refused to accept delivery of the lens from Hong Kong, which was returned and in fairness to the vendor the purchase price was refunded immediately.
They ought to be more honest about where the item is coming from and how long it will take to arrive.
2 Stars - Bad - a bad experience but with no sign of malicious intent, but who knows it may end up as being 1 Star if the purchase never arrives, not at the end of this journey yet.
Simply Electronics certainly talk a good fight with lots of communication around the inital order and a warning before the payment is taken from the credit card, then a very welcome upgrade communication to tell me my purchase was now scheduled for next working day delivery from the expected 7-14 days forecast.
This was received on a Friday and when I used the automated tracking function it told me that the purchase was still in Kowloon, I thought next working day delivery a little ambiitious but stranger things happen.
However, one week later, still no new phone, the automated tracking service tells me that as far as it knows my purchase was in Kowloon 7 days ago, no news since then, and the Simply Electronics website says I have no outstanding orders.
So, all in all, not too impressive; a rapid fall from grace after a promisiing start.
I don't usually leave feedback but I find it somewhat irritating to get messages soliciting feedback on a transaction which as far as I am concerned is not yet at completion.
STAY AWAY! - KINDEST DECRIPTION I CAN GIVE IS FRAUDSTERS / SCAMMERS
Based on their website information of 'products in stock, delivery in 5 - 10 business days' I placed my order on 12.04.13, for a new Canon EOS 700D camera, zoom lens & additional warranties totalling £925.00.
This was to be a gift for my wife's birthday on 08.05.13.
Waited for nearly a month to get nowhere. Made many calls during this time to be fobbed off with excuse after excuse. (the best of which was once my products had been assigned for a courier collection (after quality inspection!), I was then told that the camera was defective and they were awaiting for a new one to be sent from the manufacturer, which would entail another 3 weeks of waiting)
I cancelled my order in writing on 04.05.13 and to date have still not received my refund for £925.00!.
I have had to take action via my credit card issuer to recover my money.
MY ADVICE IS DON'T TRUST THE REVIEWS OF THIS COMPANY THAT SUGGEST THEY ARE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A WASTE OF SPACE - THE LIKELYHOOD IS THE REVIEWS ARE FAKE AS WELL!!!!
This is definitely the worst company I have ever dealt with. I ordered a camera from them a month ago but there's still no sign of it arriving. They take your money straight away but I have no idea whether they ever deliver anything to you! Who is writing the good reviews of this company? Do they employ people to put up good reviews? If only genuine reviews went up nobody would ever buy from these people!
I placed an order for a canon 70-200 mm l f2.8 lens on 11 May and have still not received it (June 12th). Additionally I ordered a UV filter which was out of stock but in fairness Simply Electronics gave me a free upgrade to a better filter, however this has not arrived either. i have had to send chaser after chaser with continued promises of delivery. The tracking number for the filter is not recognised by the courier (Deutsche Post) so I don't where that is either. Bearing in mind SE debited my credit card at the time of order I am not very happy. i used them 4 years ago for a canon 5d and taht was all ok. Not this time and would be reluctant to do so again I'm afraid
Almost a month after ordering a camera from these people, I 'phoned their helpline 0115 871 4466 (to save using their 0845 number) - after 10 minutes on hold I was told the camera is still 'awaiting despatch' the same status as it has been on the website for my order for the past two weeks. The 'agent' agreed that as it still has not left Hong Kong it wouldn't be very likely to get to me this week either.
I've now cancelled my order.
Unbeatable price and product delivered well within agreed timeframe. Was supposedly upgraded to next-day delivery for free, but next day delivery ended up taking 4 days, although first delivery attempt was still within 7 days from order.
I ordered 2ipads not realising this company was based in hong kong. After reading some of the bad reviews I panicked. I phoned the company's uk call centre who assured me that everything would be ok and the iPads would be full uk spec. I received tracking information and the iPads were delivered within one week. So all in all quite a good experience as well as saving £100 on the apple price. The only fault is the company should be more transparent in detailing where they are based. Other than that well done.
I have used Simply Electronics over the past four years for a total of four large purchases and have never once been disappointed by their service - great prices, fast delivery times and friendly helpful staff.
My latest purchase, a Canon Powershot G15, Order ID 3862401082, was a steal at £273.99. Ordered late on Wednesday 29th May, 2013, I needed the item quickly so phoned Customer Services to place my order. They said they would prioritise it (no extra cost, still free delivery). A tracking number was given so I tracked the item, via carrier Aramex, to find the camera had reached Heathrow late on Friday 31st May. Tracked again on the morning of Tuesday 4th June, I found it was already out for delivery to my address. Phoned the Aramex freight company used (normal national phone number - no waiting - very helpful) and was told by a very friendly agent that the package was in the hands of our local delivery sub-contractor, which was Hermes. The package arrived before noon on Tuesday 4th June. Great item, perfectly packaged, incredible value.
I have had absolutely no reason to fault this company over the past four years and will not hesitate to use them again.
Bought a canon G15. The website was helpful giving the info needed to choose & the while purchasing process was a breeze. I got constant emails advising of the status of the order & delivery. You can even choose whether to have your package redelivered or left with a neighbour by text if you are out. All in all excellent.
My own fault for not reading the reviews of them first, but I made an order with Simply Electronics, then read the reviews (wrong way around). So I cancelled the order.
Simply electronics then replied a day later saying they were not accepting my cancelation unless I e-mailed them to cancel again (and that they would give me a free 4 gig memory card not to cancel). So I immediately replied to that e-mail saying I had already cancelled the day before, and had not changed my mind. A week later I call to find out how my refund is going, and the operator tells me they are having 'technical difficulties', and they did not get my second e-mail, so they had not cancelled my order, and I was on 'hold'. He accepted they did receive my original cancel request, but were ignoring it until I called them. He then said I had to send yet another cancelation request, and they would start the process from the second cancellation (he did say they would process the cancellation the same day, but still said that it would take up to 14 days to get my money back from the new date). Call me weird, but I would have thought that when you tell a company you have cancelled your order, and they acknowledge you did cancel it, then they should refund your money, not put you on 'hold' until you cancel it again (after they 'lost' your confirmation that you did indeed want to cancel).
All I can say is I should have read the reviews first - dodgy company, caveat emptor (still waiting for my money back).
The camera I ordered was on offer at the cheapest price I could find on the internet. I had slight reservations as I had not heard of the company. On ordering however, I was told the item would be delivered in 3 to 10 working days. It was delivered in 8 to the Isle of Wight and this is not often the case with internet orders as there is sometimes an issue with shipping across the water. Everything was included with the order, beautifully packed and a really good shopping experience all round. Highly recommend to others.
It was my fault. I've bought on line for several years. At first I double checked each new site to ensure they were based in UK or west Europe. I got lulled into a false sense of security from all my good experiences on line and didn't check Simply Electronics before I used them. I ordered beginning of April, money taken straight away, after 4 weeks, no sign of delivery (lots of promises on the phone), I cancelled order at end of April. It is now June and no sign of refund.
I realised that it would take ages for them to refund, as I've seen other reviews. I phoned tonight 'They are escalating my refund'. Yeh!, I've read that before from the reviews.
I'll be much more careful in the future in choosing sites to order from.
Placed order 22 May 2013 and received Lens 8 days later. Thats what I call Service - better than some UK based companies! They kept me informed at each step in the Order. Lens arrived in pristine condition and delivered by reputable DPD Couriers.Utterly brilliant guys! Thank you!
When i first found the product i thought the price was great and ordered. The reviews were mixed so thought i'd give the company the benefit of doubt.....BIG MISTAKE!
The first email i received from them was requesting proof of name and address from a utility bill. I thought OK this is just to make sure so proceeded. Once this step is clear they take a week to tell you that the order is successful and has been passed onto the warehouse. You wait a week and then get told that unfortunately they are out of stock, despite what their website says. However thay do reply saying
"Unfortunately, the next shipment is not expected to arrive within any short period of time. If you need this order sooner, you may choose any other similarly priced products listed on our site that may be suitable as a replacement. Should the price be slightly higher, we can perhaps waive this as a gesture of goodwill (please note we can only do this usually for minor differences)".
I tried to call their call center to speak to an advisor after no reply from 2 emails i sent to them. Thinking that speaking to a person directly would be easier. No. When you speak to someone you are told there is nothing they can do over the phone and you have to email them, even if the problem you are facing is that your emails aren't being received you have to email them. If you ask to speak to their supervisor the immediate response is "no they are in a meeting". Eventually managed to get through on email again.
The closest model was the same model number but in a different colour, when you are paying £310 you'd think that a £10 increase would be a "minor" increase, and that as a goodwill gesture that they offered this would be acceptable...wouldn't you?
"We are very pleased that you are going ahead with the alternative item, however, the item selected is more expensive in which we are unable to waive for you."
After this I'd had enough, I just wanted to cancel so cancelled the order through the website. However you can cancel very quickly and easily. Getting a refund is another matter. Im still waiting for acknowledgement that the refund is being sent.
All in all only order is the amount of stock is at least 20, and only if you are prepared to mait a month at least for the item to be dispatched. Sorry for boring you. rant over.
I bought a new zoom lens from this company recently. The whole experience was good, always keeping me updated on my shipment. Last but certainly not least my lens was an excellent price.I would certainly recommend this company.
I have used this company on two occasions previously and had no problems. My last purchase was a Samsung phone. Got it within 7 days and love it (joy). So happy I have ordered two more for my wife and daughter. 26 days later no sign of the phones.(despair). I have emailed then about 4 times and have been promise delivery and delivery upgrade, but still waiting. Contacted today and am awaiting response. The end of April I would have given them 5 stars. Today 2. Don't know if I will ever get these items.
UPDATE 3RD JUNE.
Still no phones; contacted today to see when my order would be shipped. Told that they have none in stock and they don't know when they will be getting a new supply. I asked why for the last month they had being displaying that they have 15-16 of these items in stock and today when they were telling me that they had no stock and didn't know when they would be receiving them there were 15 available on their web site. They had no idea. So after a month i have no indication if or when I will be getting my purchase. luckily i purchased through my credit card. My advice is to KEEP AWAY
Had been looking at this lens for some time. Prices were around £199 in the shops, however after an online search I found the same lens at Simply Electronics for £102.00. I decided to take a punt and ordered the lens thinking that Simply Electronics were based in London. However, I received the confirmation but only then discovered to my dismay that the lens was coming from Hong Kong. However, SE then emailed me upgrading my 14 day delivery time to next day delivery and I received the item extremely quickly. Fearful that it would not be what I had ordered, i checked the lens and to my relief, this was exactly what I had ordered. I should not have been worried, lens seems to work fine on an initial check, I am very pleased with the service and price. Would recommend!!
It is now 31 days since I asked for a refund on goods cancelled. Although Simply Electronics have now acknowledged that I cancelled the order and have now got the order in their warehouse, they are still stalling on the refund. I recently contacted Hong Kong Police and Hong Kong Consumer Council to try and get things moving in a positive way. If you are having similar problems contact both police and consumer council. Maybe if enough people do then something will be done about this company.

I was finally refunded on 31th May.
I bought a HTC One X back in June 2012. I have to say that I received my phone a week later with no problems. However, in April 2013 my phone decided to stop working, I contacted HTC UK & was told (eventually) that my phone has NO Warranty with HTC, it was originally purchased in the Far East without a HTC warranty, i am assuming this is how SE keep there prices low!!
Anyway, although very disappointed, I contacted SE to arrange to send my phone back for repair/replace under their one year warranty. The address they gave me to return my phone was in Newbury, Berks. I sent it on 18th April & it arrived on 19th April via Royal Mail Special Delivery.
To cut a very long story short, my phone is now in Hong Kong, it has apparently been repaired on 23rd May, but has still not been dispatched, even though I was promised 2-3 days to be returned. The latest "info" is to be sent "early" next week, 3-4 June, which IF it happens will be 7-8 working days......keeping my fingers crossed.
Anyway, for any prospective customers of Simply Electronics pleased be warned, it may be cheap, but is it worth the hassle if it goes wrong???
My phone arrived back to me on 5/6/2013, brilliant I thought. However, within 12 hours of having my phone back the SAME FAULT happened & I now have a DEAD PHONE AGAIN!! What the F##K did they do with it for 8 weeks!!! I also noticed when it was working that it was actually a "Test" phone, all my data was being relaid to HTC & I was totally unaware and unable to stop it if I was.
Now in the process of having to deal with these people again, I am getting a bad feeling about this..............I will keep you posted on what happens next.
I am very pleased with the lens I purchased, is better than I expected, especially at the price. I was surprised to find it was coming from Hong Kong but arrived quickly and was able to track it. Has a warranty and says no cost to return, hopefully will not need this.
Delay processing the order & dispatching for shipment.
Promised to upgrade shipping to next day but failed to action. When questioned about delays did answer the question & explain why promise not actioned.

To all people who are waiting for goods. First of all cancel the order. Once they confirm the cancellation wait 3-6 working days (that's what they say about refunds http://simplyelectronics.kayako.com/Default/Knowledgebase/Article/View/2/1/how-long-do-i-have-to-wait-for-my-refund). When the time is expired report that to Moneybookers first (they helped me and I got my money in 2 days from reporting). I have to say that I was waiting about 3 weeks, sending them emails and getting lots of excuses. Don't call them - it's waste of time and money. Keep all Your correspondence saved on Your computer, because they might remove all emails from kayako platform. If You will not get any help from Moneybookers, report that to police in Hong Kong (http://www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/). They do investigation in this case.
I read the dire reviews after ordering a helmet camera and my heart sank. However, I ordered on the Sunday, had a string of emails to keep me up to date, and the courier came on Thursday. I'm very impressed.
Can't fault them at all, it was well packed, UK stock, and the delivery was upgraded for free. No import duties either.
They lose a star for not making it clear they are not UK based though.
my sx 50 hs powershot was ordered and according to the tracking information it lay in hong kong for four days,a quick e mail got the ball rolling and the camera was delivered well within the time frame, it was well packed and in good order when it was delivered. The camera came at a price no one else on the nett could match,the tracking info allowed me to follow it to my door and i found the company very helpfull
I placed an order with Simply Electronics in the belief that they were UK based even their emails regarding a query told me the goods were distributed within the UK when the order was placed they duplicated the order charging me twice taking nearly £600 from my credit card and it is from here things rapidly went down hill, I asked them to cancel the duplicated item which they finally did after around 30 emails and countless phone calls but still no refund, I then asked why the ordered goods had not been mailed and they told me the money was being held by a company called moneybookers, so I contacted moneybookers who advised me Simply electronics had been paid the same day the order was placed, after sending them the email confirming they had been paid they came back and said they would not send the goods until I provided a utility bill, yet I had sent them evidence of my address when they requested it, I think they have now run out of excuses but still will not send the items ordered. I am now having to contact my credit card company to request a chargeback and I have also asked moneybookers to investigate this company. At the moment I am without the items I ordered and have had no refund for the duplicated order
I made a order of a Nexus 4 on Simply Electronics on 29th of April... pay almost 380€ for the phone... In the first "email response" they told me that all the process can take also like 14 working days... Right now... we are on 27th of May and I still waiting for the Nexus... On their website, keeps saying that the Order is Waiting Dispatch... same state after one week and after sent a lot of emails to know the reason, they (Simply Electronics) keeps changing the dispatch day...
The price WAS good... right now, already lost 40€ on the sale price on the Nexus, I've pay 379€ and right now cost 339€...
If was today... I really make other choice and purchase the Nexus in other online store!
Update: after a long wait... already received my Nexus 4... received at 7th May...
I was disappointed to learn, after I'd already bought my headphones, that Simply Electronics were based in Hong Kong. Alarm bells were ringing and I did a search around and found some negative reviews. But despite that, the headphones turned up much quicker than expected and I was very well informed of the delivery status.
The headphones were far cheaper than I could find elsewhere, and I had no problem with the service - therefore very happy.
