quite simply, i will never buy from sportsdirect again after they levied me for a rag of a magazine and what has to be the ugliest mug ever designed. it was the most expensive 2.40 sportsdirect ever earned and i know thousands more feel the same in the aftermath of the bbc watchdog program earlier this week. very unethical behaviour.
I bought some Karrimor items, convertible trousers, shorts t-shirts. Really poor quality and poor sizing; t-shirt far too small for the size, convertible trousers far too long, cheap feeling materials and finish. I returned all items at some considerable cost to myself with the promise of a full refund including £3.99 shipping. The refund for goods was prompt, but they did not refund the shipping costs nor did they reply to any of my emails. I give them one star for replying to my message via sportsdirect's facebook page and I did receive my refund this way, but I only suspect that was due to my campaign of negative comments to all their posts.
The shop also has a policy of not giving refunds even though they do not have fitting rooms in their stores - if it doesn't fit we'll give you a credit note or gift card! I'll pay more for my goods rather than shop here in future.
I went into a store to try on swimming costumes. The changing room is only separated from the shop floor by saloon type swing doors. I had a feeling that they were not secure but thought that I was being a bit over cautious and that surely privacy and personal security would have been considered. As I was completely undressed a customer walked by and he could easily see me over the door. He continued to stare so I picked up some clothes to protect myself from him but then realised that the full length mirror was facing the door so the passer by could now see me naked from the back.
The assistant said it was nothing to do with her. The manager said that they had glued the mirror on the wrong wall and that as he had no control of that nor where the changing room was situated and I needed to contact head office. I did this but got no response. The changing room and mirror as still in situ. I have reported it to the police but it would be hard to prove that the passer by was a deliberate peeping tom. Sports direct should not be allowed to get away with this disregard for women's safety. DO NOT USE this store.
Made an order and paid a little extra for next day delivery. Didn't show up, only then to receive an email claiming it was out of stock. I sent a direct email as well as posted on Facebook and Twitter asking for a refund, all of which have failed to be answered. I called them up only to keep getting cut off. This is by far the worst customer service I have EVER come across. They ruined my daughters birthday. They are very quick to take a persons money and then that is all, nothing but a scam

Bought a pair of Adidas golf shoes at Glenrothes shop after reading on sports direct web site that they had a waterproof membrane.I tried them out on a dry day,it hadn't rained for a week, but the early morning grass was wet. When I was finished my socks were soaking wet.I returned the shoes to the shop and although I asked for a refund I was forced to take a gift voucher.
I emailed S.D. Customer service but couldn't get any sense out of them so I returned to the shop and spoke to the manager. She informed me that the Glenrothes store "didn't sell waterproof golf shoes and I should go to a larger store where I would find them"
I ordered a pair of adipure football boots in size 10 and shin pads for a medium man. I recieve child shinpads and boots in a size 11.5, also the boots were the cheaper model of the type I ordered. I sent it back to be exchanged and instead they refunded it, not refunding the postage costs. It took another 25 minute phone call to get a refund of postage charges and an explanation, which was hardly satisfactory. AVOID!!!!!!
I recently purchased a pair of rugby boots for my son, Patrich Power X Junior Rugby boots (http://www.sportsdirect.com/patrick-power-x-junior-rugby-boots-096094?colcode=09609444)
The sole of the boots cracked within 2 weeks of use. These items are poor quality.
I tried to add a review to the Sports Direct website but my comments were 'Disapproved and Removed by the moderator', so customers are probably only allowed to post positive reviews.
My entire wardrobe is made up of stuff from Sports Direct, i find them to be excellent value and also very high quality. You dont only get the top stuff like Lonsdale and Umbro at cheap prices, you can also get Adidas and Nike designer jackets. Ive even on occasion got Lacoste trainees, which are also heavily discounted from the normal price i pay for them. You can sometimes get free delivery too which really adds to the overall value.
My problem is: order is fulfilled from SDirect (and money taken), given to DHL and still stays there - the package has been damaged and has to be returned to Sports direct (as was told by DHL).
I've sent several e-mails to SD - it's been twenty days and got no answer what's going on. Looks like SD don't know. I hardly managed to even send a mail - they don't have such a case in the drop-down menu, they don't read what you are asking for - they reply automatically and meaningless.
And look what I see at their site (http://www.sportsdirectplc.com/corporate-responsibility/customers.aspx)::
"We have an online customer contact form that reduces the time it takes for our customers to contact us and increases the volume of contact. Online communication has reduced the amount of time it takes for us to respond to queries thereby increasing our service levels, while reducing the print and postage costs for both the Group and customers.
We are continuously working to improve customer service at all levels within the Company from the retail stores, head office and through to our website."
Can not imagine now much working they have to do....
Really, really disappointed!!!
I ordered a pair of shoes from the company. However, half way through I left my order to go back to.
Having received two emails to remind me that I had an outstanding order in my "shopping bag" I went back to complete and pay for the order.
As I looked at the shopping bag, it had one item in the order. I proceeded and paid.
Just as I pressed the pay button I noticed the price had increased by £1.00. On looking back at the order, they had sneakily added a magazine and mug!!! I sent an email immediately to say to please remove the £1 for these items as not requested or required.
I received an email to say that it was my own fault for not checking the shopping bag.
VERY bad service. Only £1, but the crux of it is that they should not add items without you asking for them.
I will NEVER use this store again and I will ensure that none of my family or friends do either.
Purchased a bike recently . Front wheel unable to be fitted due to fork not wide enough. Returned the item which cost €50 euro to post. Eventually received reimbursement for the bike but not the postage and having sent numerous e-mails I have received no reply since 29th august and this is now the 6th October. This is unacceptable as far as I am concerned as I have been a loyal customer of this company as are many of my friends.
Brought £16.99 shorts, washed them and noticed the poket was comng loose, got receipt, by time got to shop receipt was lost, lady says she remembers me buying them a coupe of dys before but wont exchange, never use again and I made sure everybody in the shop knew they suck !!!
Shorts have now been binned and they have never been worn, stuffu Sportscrap !
Actually I was a bit shocked when I entered Trustpilot to finally review SportsDirect. I have placed 7 different orders with a total value of approx. £600 and I have only good experiences so far. When I place an order of £85 in total I have found out that they don't add any shipping costs (approx £4 if I order less as I did the other day). I purchase a lot online and therefore know this is cheap shipping.
I'm from Denmark and here I get my goods from SportsDirect delivered by DHL, thus no bad experiences with the delivery process itself.
A couple of weeks ago they added 150 items from Pele Sports at absolutely bargain prices. I have received a number of these Pele items and the quality is sometimes even better than the Nike, Hummel and Adidas products I normally buy. I have also bought quite a lot of Firetrap for myself, while I have treated my kids with a lot of Golddigga, Lonsdale and Slazenger items. Unfortunately we are not able to buy their Everlast bargains (they are not allowed to ship to Denmark...) Quality have been flawless and far better than the low price otherwise would suggest. The Barcelona gear from Nike that I bought were reasonably priced and flawless quality as well. Dunlop products have also been as expected.
All in all, I have only had one semi-bad experience. One of my Firetrap Polos had a loose thread close to the front left pocket. I contacted SportsDirect and initially they wanted me to return the item (a hassle to me...), but I forwarded a couple of pictures of the damaged item after which they actually told me to keep the item (probably to save the international shipping costs) and returned £7 to my account!!! I don't know if this was due to me being an international customer who just placed the second £90 order or pure luck, but I hope that you now are able to see why I'm so surprised to see all the negative reviews of SportsDirect.
I have purchased a lot from amazon.com, amazon.co.uk and amazon.de and although I would probably prefer them 9 out of 10 times (only experienced high service from them so far and their assortment is far better), I must say that the price-value configuration from SportsDirect is unbeatable when it comes to certain products (including Lonsdale, Pele Sports, Firtetrap and Slazenger). I am not running away from SportsDirect as long as they keep me satisfied repeatably as they have done so far.
Would I recommend them to others? Well, some of the stories told here about especially bad service towards UK customers would normally rock my faith in the company. However, if you are an international customer (serviced by DHL) I would not hesitate recommending that you try them out. I will place my next order for some shoes from Pele Sports next week.
So many defective items... They are trying to get rid of the junk by selling it online on SALE. Actually the sale does not worth it at all..... I have seen so many of their junks and I am pissed off- the items even do not worth the return cost!!! I received a pear of shoes and each shoe was different size, also defective jeans and so on... I will never buy from them again. Basically they sell only staff of poor quality and that's why they are so cheap!
Placed an order for about Eur 350, but order was cancelled straight away stating they could not authorise payment, even though we were spending right before and right after the order with the same payment method.
If we wanted to order the same stuff again we will have to fill out the whole order again.
If they cant even let me know that they cannot take payment before just cancelling the whole order outright, I can't be arsed to fill out the whole order again.
Always used without problems in the past, but this time I'll take my money somewhere else.
ive used them a number of times for online orders. something has been wrong with my order every time, from wrong item to items missing. They also dont do apologies and just take the price of the item you didnt get from your bill (meaning if you want it again you need to pay postage again).
They are cheap, just totally incompetent. You do get what you pay for in this world so only use if your aware of this....
I've tried to contact the customer service several times - unfortunately no success so far. I can't find any phone number on their website and sending e-mails seems not to work. I'm so agree at them as I'm waiting for my order which they are delaying due to their (stupid) reasons. Cheap bastards!
Got my order in the post (sent out quickly) I opened the oversize bag and removed my order... Two t-shirts just screwed up inside but the rest was packed well. I brought some trousers so tried them on and walked round to my mum and dads. On arrival i placed my hand in the pocket of the trousers to remove my phone that i had placed there before leaving. You have guessed it... Gone!!! all that was there was a huge hole in the pocket. I am now in discussion with Sports direct to try and get some money back after having to pay £150 to buy a replacement phone. Do they care not one little bit!! Shocking service!!!!!
I ordered a jacket online but a sports direct magazine got added to my basket thought I didn't want to order it. I realised it after paying the order and looking at the confirmation. I straight away emailed the customer service and the cancelling department (email@example.com )to remove the magazine as I didn’t want to pay for something I didn’t order ! No reply ! I sent another email as my 24H delivery placed on a Tuesday morning (17/09/2013) only arrived on Friday evening (20/09/13). I only got a reply 4 working days later to tell me that I didn’t email the cancelling department so they couldn’t remove the magazine from my order ! I didn’t even get an explanation on the delay of my parcel, not even a sorry. I since required a quick and satisfaying reply and it has been 5 working days and no reply !!!!
I ordered a pair of shoes and received not an odd pair but one of them was dirty and had been worn...
I complained and received nothing but an automated letter. I even sent photos supporting my claim... But the cherry on the top was that I had to pay for the shipping for them to go back.
I ordered Court Mens Trainers. On Sept 13 I received wrong size and sent an inquiry immediately via site online form. They say that they send a reply within 1-5 days. 7 days passed and no reply yet.
Terrible customer experience. Do not recommend to order anything there.
Over 1 week ago I received my delivery minus half of the order. There was a dodgy looking tear on packaging where someone could have easily pulled out the items. Unfortunately the person that signed for the delivery did not check this before signing.
Nevertheless, I emailed to say what had happened, then again, and again. Finally I received an autoresponse saying will aim to reply within 3-5 days!
If it were a small company then ok, but this is simply their CEO keeping costs down to keep profits rising at the customers expense.
Eventually this poor business will catch up with them and profits will fall.
I bought a few times from sportsdirect.com and most products were good for their price. I reviewed them positively and my reviews were all accepted. But two products were of low quality, I reviewed them as such BUT BOTH REVIEWS WERE REJECTED.
Here are sportsdirect.com replies:
Below average quality.
One bag came with a plastic part broken.
I have used the bags (20 in and 28 in) twice and one of the fasteners fell off.

Well... maybe I was unlucky... but my socks carry the "Pieerre Cardin" logo. Yes, Pieerre with two Es.
Good socks if you do not mind what's written on them.

Buy at your own risk!
Sports Direct use YODEL to deliver their goods!
YODEL drivers are incapable of delivering to the correct address or even the correct street.
After 3 weeks Sports Direct still fob you off with pathetic "under investigation" bull s##t!
I will never ever use this Pathetic Company again!
To think how many local sports shops that has closed in our high streets to make way for this Vermin!
Customer service is poorer than Newcastle United’s chance of winning the EPL!
I would be embarrassed to be associated to this company!
My bank is now in the process of going after them for Fraud!
I contacted Sports Direct to point out that the address on my recent order is wrong, and was told that the order will be cancelled! Imagine my surprise when I received another email saying that my order has been delivered to a neighbour! To an unknown person 200 miles from where I live... After contacting them to demand explanation, I was told to go and pick up the parcel myself! I've been ordering with them for years, never again! No surprise their shops are closing all over UK!
We were on holidays in Haverfordwest in Wales on 24th August we went to the sports direct store as my 10 year old son had saved up his money for the Liverpool 3rd kit he purchased the top with Aspas and number 9 on the back and was very pleased. We traveled back home on the ferry to Ireland. My son had wore the top 3 times i washed in cool wash inside out nad cool iron inside out, I e-mailed sports direct on Friday 6th September i noticed as my son put on the top the front of the top the gold logo beside Standard Charter and under the LFC emblem had started to come off obviously i haven't let my son wear the top since and i have had no response from your company i have e-mailed them again today. Your customer service leaves a lot to be desired i work in the retail industry and i know if there is any complaints you try to deal with them straight away remember a customer will always remember getting treated badly and will definitely tell people of there bad experience. All i want is a reply we paid good money for the jersey and it is not fit for purpose, hopefully someone will contact me from your company. I have a very disappointed son and it's hard to explain to him that he cannot wear the top until you get back to me.
Watch out folks - if you are brave enough to order online from Sports Direct after reading all these reviews, don't order items then click on "checkout" on your bag. This will show you've ordered two items or whatever (the number you've actually ordered), and show you pictures of your items only, but then will take you straight to your payment page, and it is only after you've paid that you'll get a summary of your order showing that you have also "ordered" a magazine for £1. Click on "review my bag" first instead, then the additional item, the magazine, shows and you can remove it. I think this is fraudulent - I had no need to review my bag, because it said it had one item in it and the one item that was showing on the picture was the one thing I had actually ordered. The magazine wasn't showing at all. In my book that means when I went to pay I was agreeing to pay for that one thing only. I was stupid enough to think that the "two items" paypal was asking me to pay for were my item and postage ....
i have just sent an email to sports direct letting them know that it is indeed WRONG to charge a customer for anything they did not order this includes a sports direct magazine ............... another customer lost !!!

Probably easiest if I just paste in my complaint email .....
I would like to complain about the shocking service I have experienced at Sports Direct over the past day or so.
My son has just started playing rugby so yesterday I ordered 2 x Kooga Warrior3 P/tec Jn20 Black/White MB at £8 each. In order to spread the delivery costs I added a variety of other items though what I really wanted was these protective vests.
I was therefore more than a little disappointed when I checked my mail today to be told they were out of stock and had been removed from the order. I was also more than a little annoyed that as the order had already been picked I could not cancel the remaining items (which I wasn't that bothered about getting anyway).
However, my initial disappointment turned into disbelief, exasperation and anger when I decided to visit your Swansea Morfa store to see if I could get the items there instead.
After scouring the store for a good 15 minutes (no one about to ask for help which is par for the course there) I was delighted to find exactly what I wanted, a single Kooga protective vest on a rail of un-associated clothes. Tentatively I checked the label and joy of joys it was the correct size!
My initial delight however was to be short-lived when I took the item to the till to pay. There was no price and no bar-code on the item so it would have to be 'looked-up'. I then waited by the side of the tills some 10-15 minutes whilst everybody behind me in the queue was served before anyone tried to 'look up' this item.
This is where the real fun begins...
The assistant attempted to look up the item on the website (I told her that it would not be there as my order for them had been cancelled as unavailable and they had been removed from the website but, bless her, she tried). Sure enough, as I had predicted it was not on the website.
Next the store manager suggested that we try and find a similar item on the shop floor to work out the price from that. Having scanned the shop for quarter of an hour to find this in the first place I knew this would be a fruitless search but dutifully trudged behind the assistant whilst she looked through racks of not really similar at all base layers. Another dead end!
I mentioned to the assistant that I has an email with the original order and that that would show that the price was £8. She suggested that if I could show this to the manager that would be OK. However with no signal and no wifi in store I had to walk to an adjacent store and use their wifi to get visibility of my order. Another 10 minutes later I had the information in my hand and my problems were over .... some hope!
Excitedly, I went back to the till to show the details of the item I had discovered. 'I've found it' I said, 'I've even found a product number!' The assistant placed the product number into the system and, eureka! the long lost item appeared. The only problem was instead of being priced at £8 it was twice the price!
I asked the shop assistant if, given the fact that this was the last one and they would not have been able to find any price had I not spent so much time looking could they not match the price that I had ordered originally them at (£8). She told me this was not in her power so I asked to speak to the manager.
Having explained the whole sorry tale to the manager I was hoping she would apply some common sense and sell me the top but no chance. I was basically told no it's £16 or nothing. I tried to reason with her ... 'if it wasn't for me you would not be able to sell the top at all as you could not find a price' I was told 'yes we could we could look it up online' (err... I think not!) When I pointed out this had already been tried and failed I was told 'we would use the product code to look it up' ..... but you wouldn't know the product code if I hadn't given it to you!!!
'Then we'd phone head office with a description to get the price' I was told .... then why was I not offered this an hour ago when I first tried to buy this rather than have to wander round a shopping centre looking for wifi to access my mail?
Having been stuck in the Twilight Zone long enough I decided to leave the store without purchasing anything but not before I had insisted that the manager gave back the product code I had supplied and ensured they had cleared the details from the computer screen. So the position now is you have a customer who will never use your online or stores again and a store who have a top they would rather leave unsellable than win over a dissatisfied customer, now that's what I call service.
Sports Direct offer some great value products. Sadly, they take no responsibility for an order once they have passed it to their distributors.
Sports Direct use Yodel who seem incapable of delivering, or of even attempting to deliver to my home. This is despite emails, phone calls and unfulfilled promises.
Don't buy anything from Sports Direct if you want it quickly - birthdays, new school terms, etc, guaranteed to cause aggravation and disappointment.
Sold me a cricket bat they claimed was signed by Andrew Strauss and worth £499.99. Its worth £100 less without it
The bat came with a FAKE signature stuck on the bat and this has been confirmed by Gray Nicolls themselves!
They never respond to emails!
Terrible service now in the hands of trading standards
As others have said, they don't advertise a customer service helpline but one is available , its advertised readily on their facebook page 0845 1299230 for customer service and not an email robot.
Today, I was no10 in a queue which took 10 minutes to be answered and it was a premium number 0845 on my mobile so call cost me £5.00. . I had not received my order paid for 5 days ago I paid via Paypal but the payment is still showing as pending , the guy on the helpdesk told me the goods were out of stock, and they had cancelled it.
HUH, as I did NOT get any emails about this and the payment has not yet come back to my account. he says it will take 5 business days excluding the weekend. He goes "check your junk mail folders" I did and there was nothing YET I must say how the spam emails came through every day, I got 3 today alone ,all spam, with sale emails and marketing ones, I have had to land on UNSUBSCRIBE on the emails but they still come.
On day 7 after I bought the trainers they emailed me to say the order was cancelled, why the f it took me through checkout and took all my details is beyond me when it was not even in stock.
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately we do not have any stock left of the products, which is why they were cancelled from your order. You should have received an email informing you of this but if you didn't I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Our website is updated on a regular basis and all items advertised online are in stock at the time of an update. Unfortunately on very rare occasions where we have small quantities of a particular item, orders placed between updates may exceed the quantity of items we have available. In such circumstances we will allocate goods to the customers who ordered the items first. The item will be removed during the next update.
You have not been charged for any items that have been cancelled and any authorisations for payment made at the time of placing the order will automatically be cleared by your bank. This process will take up to 5 days depending on your banks procedures.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused.
I have used their web service before and been happy with decent goods delivered by Yodel.
IF the size is a good fit you are fine. BUT if you need to return an item you will wait an age for a refund. If you shop in their hot , crowded, fire hazard of a high street store, you will NEVER get a cash refund ONLY ever an exchange from the shop, which I think contravenes your consumer rights but they have had fancy lawyers draft up their terms that you enter into when you make a purchase, but. they should get in line with other retailers .
On the whole, I get my trainers for them and they are cheaper than other shops. The staff are rushed off their feet and the shops are claustrophobic and mobbed . The web page is not very helpful and the email contact form is initially answered by a robot.
Had a nightmare with Sports Direct in Oxford. Daughter wanted trainers but wanted to go the Bunkfest. The trainers she wanted were not in her size and the sales person persuaded me to buy the trainers that were similar. Trainers did not fit but on returning them advised I could only have a giftcard not a refund. Quite surprised as I did not realise they had a no refund policy. I had not seen the policy and had not been advised of this fact by the shop assistant or the cashier. The trainers were available online in the size that she wanted but the gift voucher could not be used. I will not be going to this shop after I have used the gift voucher but will use the online shop as this strangely gives you more rights on returns.
I went into Sports Direct inside Pottery Shopping Centre, Stoke-on Trent, Staffordshire, i was looking at white trainers with a plain hard front, a staff came over and asked if he could help so i picked one size 8 trainer off the shelf and asked if hes got size 7, he got onto the radio to ensure of the size but they hadnt got my size then he asked 'we got size 8 if you want it' i said 'NO' then he pointed at other trainers with hard front then again i said 'NO i come back next time'.
They dont care about you they just want your money.
Can you imagine wearing clothes that are larger than your size lol.
I ordered a cycle multi tool along with some trainers. I was delivered the packaging but with the multi tool removed so it contained only a case and a puncture repair kit. Not very useful as I bought this for the multi tool. Almost impossible to get a response from customer service. Do I just return the empty packaging for a refund or will they just laugh in my face? Not impressed.
Until now I have only had positive things to say about this company, where I have purchased really good sportswear at bargain prices. Delivery very fast and never failed.
However, bougt a pair og wellies in April (Golddigga), which broke after 2 months - a huge gap opened on the left wellie, another appearing on the right!
I then left my comment at the product´s page, but it was removed. I placed another comment, it was removed. I left a third comment yesterday, and today they removed it!
This is the message I left:
"Bought these Golddigga Tall Wellies this spring and after two months a huge gap opened on the side of the left boot and another appeared on the right boot - not impressed"
How could this message be dissaproved? Where is the bad and inappropiate language, which caused this comment to be removed?
I am very dissapointed sportDirect!
I bought a pair of trainers for my wife but they did not fit. I took them back to their HIGH Wycombe Sports Direct branch and the Assistant Manager was very rude and couldnt give a damn about a refund. I stood outside their store and everyone that went in i spoke to advising them that they would not get a refund even with a reciept. The security were called all three surrounded me as if i was a criminal. Then the police were callled and eventually the Asistant Manager caved in and the police had to go in to get my refund in full from them. I will never in my life go back to this company as the customer service is ranked 0 and all they want is your money and thats all. So if any other customers have problems getting their hard earned money back from these shisters, do the same as me. Protest at their front of store and make them loose money until you get your refund in full. Dont be fobbed off by their hard stance on so called company policy
