They are back to their con game under a new guise and people need to be aware.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE AS YOU WILL BE CONNED!
Some people might think that we are lucky as we received the goods, delivered by two wide boys in a hired van. Problem is our plumber will not touch the goods with a bargepole, as they do not conform to British Standards, have a questionable guarantee as the manufacturers appear to be in China and raise certain safety questions.
We asked SPWEC for a refund within 7 days of paying them £1850,a special discount price to relaunch business after Christmas. Of course they have never replied to this or subsequent e-mails and all their phones lines have gone dead.
We have reported this to Rochdale Trading Standards but so far no feedback.
SPWEC took our deposit of £500 then failed to show up. When we were eventually successful in getting through to them by phone/email we were made further promises. We were told our refund had been posted to us. It never arrived. We are now in the process of taking SPWEC to court via an online service 'Money Claim Online'.
As I understand it the four employees (conmen?) Chris Marshall. John Hallisey, Nigel Stott, Kevin Parr, have operated a similar company in the past, gone bust and opened up new companies to repeat the lucrative process. This is what I would be interested in putting a stop to. No doubt they will do this again and again.
Trading standards, the office of fair trading, the local council and the BBC are all aware of SPWEC and their fraudulent activities.

I can only endorse the other comments. I paid SPWEC £1500 for a system which was originally due to be installed on the 3rd August. This didn't happen with no explanation why, so I asked for a refund and I am still waiting. I believe they are now being investigated by Rochdale Trading Standards.

April I saw an advert in Photoplus mag and www.nohotwaterbills.co.uk was the site. The company was Simply Solar I emailed them and got nothing for a few weeks - I tried calling - My biggest mistake!!!! I now know the MD John Hallisey closed this company down due to 30+ people taking action against the company, the started a new one call SPWEC Ltd – search rochdaleonline for this company. Paid my deposit £500 some time went by and then got a call saying they needed the remaining balance £1000 as the system was in. 7th July booked for the install day. On the 6th I tried to call to find out what time they will be turning up - no one would tell me anything...... Called again as no call back and they said they had no stock and wouldnt install tomorrow. A few weeks down the line I asked if i could change the system this cost me a further £500. They took the money straight away but I have had problems getting in contact since - email, phone (if u get answer phone) they dont return the email/calls or their webform. Cut the story short - 4/5th Sept booked new date - 4th called to see what time driver would arrive - he called in sick but they havent even booked an installer for Saturday so make your own conclusions. Chris Turner refused my money back as per their T&C but guaranteed delivery and install on the 12th - Got nothing no call or anything - tried calling - no joy, emailed - mails bounced. Got a mail on the 24th telling me they had my letter requesting a full refund but as they cashflow issues they couldnt refund me but they still have my system - I asked why they didnt install on the 12th as guaranteed – they dont seem to want to answer that.
If you want to go green – dont try this company – Its price is too cheap so that should be the first warning....

Upon finding SPWEC Ltd advertised in FOCUS magazine last May 09, I contacted them in regards to having a solar panel hot water system installed.
I was made to pay the full amount of £3000 before they even produced or installed the goods, contrary to REAL Assurances policy of conduct.
They did not turn up on the day of installation and did not even contact me to explain why.
They refused to answer my emails and in most cases did not pick up the phone, I was fed a pack of lies when they did, never being able to establish another installation date.
I have demanded a full refund and was given a date of 1st September 09. This has come and gone and I'm still waiting.
There are others too who are going through the same thing. You can find an article at: http://rochdaleonline.co.uk/news-features/2/news-headlines/28084/trader-up-to-his-old-tricks
