UNABLE TO CARRY OUT BASIC OFFICE SERVICES

Attended Staples in Weston Super Mare today for two small University assignment documents to be bound using Staples binding services. Three staff at the offices services firstly had to check if they actually offered document binding (I could see the binding machine clearly on the table), they then informed me that the person who normally does binding was off sick today and could I come back another day. I pointed out that the binder is really easy to use and I could show them how to use it if this helped. I was advised that they did not want to try it as they may get it wrong and would rather i came back another day. Although they were polite, i find it amazing that no-one else in Staples WSM can use a simple hand operated document binder, which i was shown how to use in around two minutes previously. Very unimpressed with their inability to carry out one of the most basic services that they allegedly offer.

Cashback deal designed to deter customers

Bought one of their A3 inkjet printers as it was advertised at a low price. Found out that the low price was after £50 cash back on return of an old printer - nothing wrong about that so far. HOWEVER, having been told that it was a simple matter to give them a printer and get the money back things became more difficult.
I had to speak to 3 staff on the phone before they were able to say how to go about it (as the website was useless despite being told all details were there). Turns out you don't return an old printer to the shop, but have to box 1 up and post it to them, after giving copious details on-line which all takes considerable time.
Bit of a pain, but just about OK. However, having waited over a week I am now told my discount will be credited to my account "within the next 30 working days".

6 WEEKS to action a refund! And all after jumping through hoops to get the stuff to them. You could not design a promotion scheme better designed to turn a happy shopper into a disgruntled ex-customer. Get a grip Staples - must do better.

Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced

Why do companies bother to have 'customer service' departments if they don't intend to provide even a basic level of customer care.
Have spent the day swapping emails with Staples Customer Service staff to face nothing but rudeness, conflicting information and when you ask for a complaint to be logged outright aggression.
Never shopping with them again

The WORST customer service

This store, though convenient for its location, has very bad customer service. Today was no exception. I usually abstain from complaining (I understand people have bad days), but today, when I got to my apartment in tears, I decided to write a review.

Earlier today I went to this location to print two images. Cathy Wu, one of the copy and print consultants, was rude to me from the minute I stepped into the store. In the end, after I pointed out to her that she didn't have to be so rude to me, she seemed to realized her mistake and, instead of apologizing, told me the reason for her rudeness was that the store was busy (it wasn't really). I asked to speak with a supervisor but she claimed she was the supervisor (later I found out she wasn't).

Then Cathy told me that she would do me a "favor" by printing my two pages by tomorrow at noon (although I explained to her that I really needed them by today and that I have always gotten printed them on the same day).

I would recommend you stay away from this location unless you want to be mistreated or absolutely have to.

Very Poor Retailer

Ordered a leather Executive Chair. Item was delivered in battered, old, dirty packaging which was fully open at the top. This would usually indicate the item has been previously sold and returned, or at least, has been previously removed from it's packaging.
Complained via email that this was not acceptable and received a miserable reply bluntly stating that my 'unwanted goods' would be collected. No apology forthcoming.
Needless to say I will not be purchasing from Staples again. With the retail market in such a perilous state you would expect better from a multi-national chain. I can only hope such self-inflicted wounds result in this retailer consigning itself to history in the imminent future.

didn't even bother to call back when no delivery was made - they would just have sat on my money .....

They took an order by phone in which I checked they had stock. They called me back to credit check, emailed a confirmation, so had my contact details, but had me wait an entire day for a delivery they knew they weren't going to make as they were out of stock, didn't respond to email or web contact us form. I called them, they said no stock, so we'll refund you.

Ok, so all I have lost is the time that cash is on my credit card, and a day off work, but they really don't have enough regard for a customer to bother saying that they're not going to deliver ?

Delivery To The Store

Bought a laptop computer online, selected the delivery to the store option, filled in no end of personal information, and received the confirmation email.
Job Done, not.. After about 2 hours I was hectored no end on the telephone by a couple of old hags from Staples who said my order would be cancelled if I did not tell them my birth date. I was talked to in a very disrespectful way by the hags and will avoid Staples in future.

Poor delivery service & delay reason not believable!

Ordered materials Wednesday evening, with expectation they would arrive Friday so I could do a quick turnaround printing job that had a Monday deadline. As we live rurally my business relies heavily on mail order. Nothing arrived Friday so contacted them on Saturday morning when I noticed they hadn't even sent a confirmation of delivery. They said the problem was with their shippers and the items would be delivered Monday. They could not give an acceptable response as to why I had not received a confirmation of shipment (from them) if it was the courier that was at fault. If it was delayed by them or the shipper, then why don't they contact the person who placed the order. All they could do was apologise. Totally unacceptable. I now have a 2 hour round trip to purchase some materials today Saturday in order to get the job done. Totally unacceptable service. Do not use them if you have a dependency on receiving the items the next day.

Website not the best, but quick delivery free of charge, good result.

I ordered a Kobo Glo Ereader on Friday evening off the Staples website. Although not the easiest site to navigate round I got there in the end.

I got a confirmation email quickly, then another mail on Saturday to tell be the parcel had been despatched.

The price was equal to the cheapest I could find on the net or physical shops with no charge for delivery.

It arrived on the Monday via TNT so overall a very positive experience for me.

Product misrepresentation

I recently order some print cartridges online. The ones I clicked on were 'print 3x more pages but they sent 'print 2x more pages. They asked me to send a photo of my order, which I did. They did not reply. Neither did they reply to 2 further emails. The cartridges do work but are not 'high capacity'. This was the only reason I ordered from their site. This particular item was misrepresented on their site

Ridiculous shopping cart / ordering system

You would think a big company like Staples would be able to afford an e-commerce system that implements really basic things like automatically checking like voucher codes work or is applicable to a certain product before letting a customer proceed with a sale. As it is, I proceeded with an order (a Kobo Touch) and paid with no problems. Then I received an email on Monday telling me that my voucher code wasn't valid and they had to therefore cancel the order. The email response was in a Word document, a bit strange, and seems to generally reflect the shambles that is their IT systems.

I don't usually leave bad reviews for companies whose service I am dissatisfied with but I feel these problems should be highlighted. As it is, I won't be ordering from Staples again.

Do not buy a printer from Staples!

Bought an HP deskjet printer in July(2012), went faulty in August. Took the item back to the shop - the assistant was the most unhelpful person Ive ever met.He said it would take a month to repair - just what you need for a business. had to buy a new printer ( not from Staples).
I strongly advise you not to buy a printer from Staples

Very helpful

Not really an experience with their website - but the staff in their store in Huntingdon were kind, friendly and very helpful when I had issue with a chair that I had purchased.

Terrible service and bad attitude

I bought a Brother printer/fax which was faulty within weeks of purchase. I was told they could not help me and I should contact Brother. I contacted the Brother helpline which gave me inaccurate information and I was left with a printer and fax that didn't work and I was losing business as a result. I took it back to them as it was faulty and they refused to exchange it. They offered me a loan pending return of the repaired printer which I did not want to accept as the problem with the printer was in its bad sortware which was likely to recurr and cause more loss of orders for me. I had spent over £300 and they now have my money and the printer which was useless. I needed an operating fax for my work so I bought an Hewlett Packard replacement elsewhere and will never buy anything from Staples again.

Poor Customer Service

I ordered some stamps and paper online. I was then send an Email telling me my order had been cancelled because you cannot have free delivery when ordering stamps. When I went back on the site to order other items so that my order would me large enough for free delivery the stamps were out of stock. I informed them that they should not have cancelled my order, they should have informed me and I would have added other items to achieve free delivery. I was then ignored for two weeks even though I got a receipt telling me they had read my Emails. Very poor customer service. I was eventually sent an Email saying order cannot be ammended. That is a terrrible system if items can't be added to an order. I will never be using Staples again.

Used to use them, always ok but never spectacular

We used staples for several years before changing to our new stationery supplier for our estate agents. I always found them okay, prices are generally pretty high but their range beat most of the competitors and it usually turned up on time. Customer services could be a bit of a hassle at times but satisfactory. Just not as good as some of the new boys in their market.

Mixed blessings...

After purchasing a shredder at the Colchester store I was disappointed to find the same thing at staples online but selling for £70 cheeper! My complaint was ignored.

To my surprise, when the same shredder broke down recently and I returned it to the store where I bought it, I was given full credit towards another purchase, eventhough the shredder was 13 months old.

The delivery of my order was fairly quick, everything was included - their site could use a bit of work though as the checkout process was a little difficult!
