Ordered mid-December 2008. Last e-mail from them Feb 7th, last advert April 29th. Phone goes unanswered. They took money for stock they did not have and it appears that they stalled for time. Are the authorities doing anything ? In an democratic world what should they do to stop this sort of behaviour and will we ever know ?
I am sorry to hear that I was not the only victim of this fraudulent operation. The directors of this company seem to have been trading fraudulently while insolvent. The authorities have been informed and it is hoped that they will be prosecuted under the law and / or disqualified from ever acting as company directors in the UK. I hope that the evidence gathered here will give them ample evidence to support legal action.
This company allegedly had 3 employees named ‘Steve’ (as an apperant ploy to 'pass the buck' and the need to fulfil promises made by any of the 'other two Steves'). It was allegedly Sony's 'supplier of the year', but Sony have confirmed that the company recently went into administration. They appear to have repeatedly advertise and confirm that they had in stock products that they did not possess. They collected payment for the same without the ability or intention to deliver. In one case, they have requested an additional payment in respect of an 'upgrade' before supplying a faulty product
(which they have promised to replace at the time they were progressing into administration).
I am interested to hear about the experience of fellow-victims, and wish them all the best of luck.
I ordered a sony tv on the 7th january, still not received was promised a upgrade and free wall bracket.I am so angry with teleworld this would have been the firsrt tv that i have ever bought new it was going to be a special treat for my two children who have down's syndrome they just love watching tv they can't go out independently so they spend alot of time indoors . I feel i have let them down will never trust buying on the internet sorry to all the honest people out there but i have lost faith. i paid with a debit card so don't hold up much hope.if anybody can update me with any info please do.
orderd a telly in jan silly me payed by debit card waited for 28 days got told delay due to panasonic should be next week waited another phone call another week really wound up by now then all of a suddon this buisness has vanished got in touch with companies house reg # belongs to another company with same name load of con artists now im down by £750 with no hope of getting it back steer well clear stick to big names you may pay more but worth it
Absolutely disgusting, they took our money, not taken any of our phone calls - and sent false hope emails. This was the first time we decided to do a purchase on the internet for the TV of our choice and definately the last!!!! When we rung the Trading Standards, the company website and VAT reg was not even registered with them...... Scums rot in hell. We all work hard for what we want, and Teleworld PLC just disullisioned our thoughts about buying from the internet!!!!...
This scam merchant took my money for a tv that they didn't have and then lied about delivering it. They've now gone bust and probably knew they would even while they were still advertising bogus TVs. I'm waiting for my credit card to re-imburse me. Call Consumer Direct for advice if they've conned you.
Paid for 'in stock' TV in January, goods never received, awaiting agreed refund since 8th March. Fat chance - my only hope is the credit card company.
I would suggest that the positive reviews on this site and elsewhere were nearly all bogus. Trustpilot - if your site is to have any usefulness/credibility, then I suggest that you should check more carefully for obvious scams (e.g. check out the rush of blatantly 'too good to be true' reviews on 20th Feb, for example).
Teleworld and their staff are typical rip-off merchants with no morals and I have no choice but to admit that I've been had. I hope they get what they deserve and end up penniless in prison, but they're more than likely already lording it on the beach in sunny Spain. That's justice for you....
We paid for our TV in Feb promised 4-6 weeks delivery. Then promised free upgrade as model ordered withdrawn. Spoke on telephone & e-mails assured we would receive our TV as soon as stock received from supplier. Very convincing staff. BE WARNED this has really shaken our confidence in purchasing via the INTERNET
do not send any money through world pay tellyworld has gone bust owing a lot of people a lot of money, i myself have lost £600, if you have any details about this i would love to hear from you firstname.lastname@example.org so beware you have been warned.......
Ordered a telly on 01/01/09 I have waited three and half months for nothing . Given up and asked for my money back, now I''ve got to wait another month for it(if it arrives). I placed the order on the basis of the item being 'in stock'.never received it. They claim they have kept me informed, funny that, the only time they have contacted me is in response to MY emails. No apology offered when order cancelled, shabby.
Time wasted, your choice !!!!!!!!!!!
beegee found this review useful
I have purchased an LCD package from Teleworld in january where they had the cheepest price i have received my TV within 12 days and love it
i will buy again from Teleworld and have recomended them to my family and friends
good service best price
* I purchased a television from them on the 1st of Jan which they obviously could not deliver and I am still awaiting my money back after numerous promises that somebody will ring me back it has not happened. Order 84503.
Steer well clear of this company
I purchased 2x Samsung Le55a596's on 27/11/08 priced at £2002.44, £300 each less than anywhere else on the net and avaialable
as In-Stock, WOW what a deal!
I received confirmation of stock and order by Anji via email on the 28th November & was
told 12-24 days for free delivery. so I contacted them to see to pay extra
& speed up delivery time.
After 4 calls I finally got thru to Steve who sounded decent enough & was then informed that
they had NO STOCK & the price on the website was wrong.
Steve assured me I would get delivery by the 16th december so I paid them
an extra £300 for both the sets.
The 16th came & went & as they now had £4300 of my money I became very worried indeed.
I started calling & emaling again & on the 17th of december I finally managed to cancel
Its been 4 weeks since I cancelld my order & I Still have not received my refund
& my emails and calls are still being Ignored.
I am very worried indeed & have contacted trading standards & Im about to start
county court proceedings against them.
My advice would be to avoid this company no matter how cheap they
are falesly advertising the goods they do not have.
Use one of the bigger companies like amazon, be-direct or empire direct.
I will update my comments when I get my refund. If anyone else is having any
problems or can offer me advice please feel free to contact me.
I also have email history that can prove that the above is 100% genuine.
Have a Happy, Safe Newyear
Few weeks ago bought an LCD TV from them. When I placed the order, price was reasonable, however, for same item, now has gone up nearly £ 70 or more.
Anyway.I asked for free standard delivery and placed the order. However, next day I was stunned to find out that free standard delivery would take 28 working days to arrive!!!
Immediately I notified Teleworldplc about the issue and told them I had an occasion and 28 working days was a bit much wait. They refused to deliver faster, advising me upgrade to a 10-working-day premium delivery for £ 19.99 on top!!!
Being in such position,I looked for another internet company that would deliver faster and finally found one which'd deliver next day for a tenner more!At once I placed the order.
Notified Teleworldplc of my decision to cancel existing order explaining them reason for this would be extreme delivery timeframe.Shortly, someone from customer service called me back and offered me a next day free delivery instead!!!What a sudden change! But,certainly I had to refuse,as I had already bought item elsewhere.
Teleworldplc told me that a refund would take up to 30 days to proceed!
Nonetheless, after a 35 days wait, finally money was refunded to my credit card, where I had to pay another £ 25,due to high borrowing interest.
But,to end my misery,I found out in credit card statement that Teleworldplc had refunded me £ 25 less from total amount!!!
When I rang them to ask about this,I was told that this is administration fee charge when a refund is placed!!!I was never aware of this, until saw it in CC statement!
In the end,I paid £ 25 interest in my CC,was denied £ 25 refund and also paid around £ 10 for some 0871 nr phone calls from my phone bill, total £ 60 wasted plus frustration and didn't purchase not even a needle from them.
