Last week I contacted Trading Standards in Sunderland because I was getting no replies from The Big Kitchen. They got back to me yesterday and informed me they had visited the company and there was a notice on the door saying they had ceased trading on the 29/10/2013.
ordered a fridge freezer, and paid through paypal. i have been unable to contact them and have not heard anything from them. i am in the process of getting a refund from paypal because they have not even acknowledged me when i said i wanted to cancel my order....

the company status is as meeting creditors -i am lead to believe this can indicate imminent bankruptcy.
Ordered a Hob and Cooker on 22/10/13. Waited for email to confirm delivery, nothing after two days, further email sent, still no reply. Phones not being answered and no automated messages out of hours. Have contacted the Trusted shops organisation that the Big Kitchen company display on their website explaining my experience and also have got the credit card company investigating them. Conclusion has to be that they have folded. Credit card company now asking if they have gone into liquidation, does anybody know anything??
Don't but from this company. Once you have received your goods they don't want to know when its damaged. My item was really damaged and when I did get through to them they said I couldn't have a exchange or a refund, but they offered me £20.00, just glad I paid by paypal, they were fantastic and I got a full refund
Ordered cooker hood, money taken off credit card straight away and confirmation email recived. Since then nothing, phone calls not answered , emails not answered, trying to get money back from credit card company. Is this company still trading?
The cooker never worked properly from day one and we had the run around. Not happy at all. Engineer not turning up, rude staff, parts not arriving, problems not being fixed. Beign without a cooker for months. Problem was never fixed and getting a refund even though the cooker had been returned was next to impossible. Excuse after excuse and still no joy. AVOID like the plague if you know what's good for you. DON'T buy from them.
We recently purchased a dishwasher from The Big Kitchen Centre. We live in Cornwall but delivery was still free. We ordered online on a Thursday and it was delivered the following Wednesday. Everything was as it should be, we will definitely use this company again.
This Company is a big joke..First the customer service is the worst I have seen in 12 years they don't really answer the phone if you need to ask anything. I have bought 3 peaces of kitchen equipment from them Oven, hob and hood by Matrix. I wanted my equipment before my kitchen fitting date for my new flat I bought everything before my kitchen came and installation. Everything came month before kitchen installation. when Fitters opened the box with oven front glass door was in pices smashed and bended everywhere, took pictures of this straight away. Pices of smashed glass were everywhere and it made scratches on my wooden floor as well it was everywhere!!! when I called to inform about it I have been told no returns no new item no money back nothing.. I thought it must be a joke..When I was talking to their Customer service I wanted to speak to the owner and they laugh over the phone...No parts for this oven are available so basically I need to buy and pay for another oven. I send them 10pictures of that oven and still nothing they will not do anything. Where are customer rights where is customer service. Please don't buy anything from them the company is a joke selling to people broken smashed equipment, I work for the airline if I would be talking to my customers like that I would be out of the job straight away.Please be carefull and avoid this company.If anyone would need anymore info or pictures of this smashed oven please let me know, seb
I would certainly recommend The Big Kitchen Centre, indeed I have and my neighbours are both buying new appliances from them as they are both having kitchen remodelling carried out at the moment, The website was easy to navigate and their range of stock is impressive with appliances and budgets to suit everyone. My only gripe was the delivery method. CityLink were exactly efficient, I was assured that the delivery company would have my mobile number so they could call if there were any problems. Just to make doubly sure I even left a note on the front door - advertising the fact my house was empty - saying that I work 2 minutes away and will come post haste to give them access to deliver the appliance I ordered. I heard nothing all day and returned home to find a 'Sorry we've missed you' card on the mat. A second delivery was arranged with CityLink and this time I did receive a call and delivery was made with the minimum of fuss.
The goods are competitive but very disappointed with customer contact with deliveries had to stay in all day waiting with no call to say would deliver within a specified hours think you need to take a leaf out of appliances on line their delivery is second to none!!!
Ordered more than 5 days before. Still have not received the washing machine. I tried calling them few times but nobody is picking up the phone. I am not upset that they did not deliver the washing machine in time I am really angry that they have not called us yet or email us about the status at all if there is any stock problem or any other problem.
Item purchased was a cooker hood but was not given a delivery date immediately or updated on the progress of the order. After a week I chased the order and I was told there was a delay with the delivery. Another week later again I had to chase the order and was told the item was discontinued and no longer available. However I was offered a replacement at no extra cost. Delivery was quick but despite being told I would be called by the delivery company I did not. A good job my neighbour was around to take delivery for me.
I purchased a oven and hob pack, but after waiting a week for delivery. I finally got through to the customer services and they told me the hob was out of stock, but would be in soon. After two weeks and many un-answered phone calls I cancelled my order. It then took 26 days and a report to Paypal to get my money back. Worst internet transaction I have ever made!
Ordered a new cooker, mainly on price and this company was the best and ordered it on a Wednesday and it was delivered the following Monday just as I was told it would be, nice and early so I had plenty of time to connect it. I cannot fault the firm at all, 5 stars from me so far!
Having made an online purchase with the tagline of 'in stock for quick delivery' i was then informed it was no longer available. On requesting a refund i was told it had been passed to accounts and will be processed within 30 days! Absolutely terrible service and not to be trusted. I am left out of pocket awaiting their very casual response.
