futronix P100 dual circuit dimmer great solution
Review by confirmed purchaser
I bought a Futronix P100 dual circuit progammable dimmer for a home cinema installation so that various set-ups could be cross faded - lights on wall behind screen and in rest of the room. The dimmer works brilliantly and is easy to progamme. The one question mark is that reading about this unit on various forums it became apparent that a blowing bulb could easily take out the dimmer. I contacted the retailer and they gave me the email address of a technician at futronix and he helped me develop my solution. Here is what to do: assuming that all your lights are plugged into seperate circuits controlled by the dimmer via 5amp sockets you can buy fused 5a plugs (http://cpc.farnell.com/mk-electric/641whi/5a-fused-round-pin-plug/dp/PL01928) and then put into them 1 amp FAST (quick) blow fuses. Note these are the smaller 20x5mm size although a standard 25x6.3mm will just about squeeze in. With this arrangement the fuse will defend the dimmer from a costly surge. Hope this helps anybody nervous about buying this otherwise great dimmer which fits perfectly inside the same space as a standard deep switch box...
