Having ordered four packs of chilli seeds, the website informed me they would be "dispatched within three days".
Five working days later (six if you include the Saturday), I had to telephone to check the status of my order only to find out they were dispatched the previous day. Why was there no email letting me know this?
Call me impatient, but I won't be ordering from T&M again. Lack of communication and late delivery has put me off for good.
Seed potatoes ordered first week of October for December delivery still not delivered. Then on other reviews they make ridiculous excuses about the weather, Having been a 250acres/year potato grower for many years, I have never heard such rubbish or received such bad service. The last time I used this company they sent cheaper substitute varieties that I did not want, Why did I give them another chance. Michael Coney
I ordered my potatos back in July 2013, with delivery promised for end December. In previous years they have arrived around Christmas time. By mid January this year no potatos had arrived so I phoned - 'no, there's no problem, they will be sent shortly'. Early February I phoned again - 'we are having problems with our potato deliveries but they will be out to you very soon', A week later I received a refund for part of the order!! Phoned again on Mon 24th Feb - 'yes they will be out to you this week'. And again Friday 28th - 'they will be out in the next couple of days'. I asked for a refund!!!!!! I have used this company for many years, but no more. Goodbye T&M.
I order some seed potatoes and stressed delivery needed by end of Jan. I contacted them this week to check on delivery and in effect they said they will let me know in a couple of weeks - which is 14th Feb. I wanted to start chitting the spuds ready to plant out under cover as they are the early early ones. I have chased them again and all they will say is that they will let me know in a couple of weeks and still not giving me a despatch date. My famly has dealt with tis company for many years - but no longer!
This company is a joke. They charged me £13.98 for an item that should have been free, sent items that were dead or near enough (most are now), didn't send one of the most expensive items, & were extremely late in delivery. I only have about £5.00's worth left of an order of £40.00. I have sent 5 emails & not received a single reply. Customer service what customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have purchased many plants from this allegedly reputable company , but NO more!!! Product substitution with inferior plants ( Out of stock ) ordered on the 1st day of release via e-mail. Delivery of woefully unhealthy plants ( Stalks snapped off ,trapped in packing container .100% guarantee non-existent . No response to e-mails ( a message to confirm that due to unprecedented numbers of e-mails ( What a surprise NOT !!! ) there will be delay in responding ( Up to two days !! )) and guess what NO response whatsoever . Please do NOT attempt to purchase healthy plants from this company as you will probably be very disappointed , John A Allison.
They did not deliver the plug plants by the end of May as promised. They took the money at time of order at the end of April. There was no communication to say the order would be late until I emailed. The geranuims ordered were out of stock so they sent replacement which were an insult. These arrived yesterday dried up, yellow and starting to rot! Still waiting for other part of order. Needless to say I will be demanding my money back! They don't deserve any stars!
Order to be dispatched by end of April, nothing sent so emailed a query mid May. Received standard email reply and nothing else. Mid June contacted Customer Services for a refund and the operator originally forgot to refund the full amount was unapologetic and curt. I only awarded one star because you can't do zero stars.
I have bought hundreds of pounds worth of seeds, plants and bulbs from them over the years. I am a professional gardener and often used them to get hold of specialist plants for my clients. Sadly, like Van Meuwen, who they are affliated with, the staff don't know one plant from another any more. I ordered Eryngium Alpinum plants from them bare-root, and when they produced their first leaves it was obvious they were the easily grown Eryngium Planum - believe me there is a great deal of difference in the two varieties, both in looks and price. After waiting five months for the replacement bare-root plants to arrive, they are obviously exactly the same E. Planum, which is easily obtainable and cheap, and self-seeds. Really disappointed, as I went through the same rigmarole trying to obtain the E. Alpinum with their twin company (Van Meuwen) three times before I just gave up. T&M what have you done. I won't bother ordering from you ever again. The Trades Description Act is never enforced for mail order plants - if you pay for a particular plant that is advertised, how the Dickens can they keep getting away with sending you a cheaper one. If I order steak, I don't want a beefburger!
MY LARGE ORDER OF POTATOES WAS LEFT IN MY RECYCLING BOX WITH NO NOTE POSTED THROUGH MY DOOR TO TELL ME. CONSEQUENTLY THEY WERE LEFT OUT FOR TWO NIGHTS WITH THE TEMPERATURE DROPPING BELOW - 5 . IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE RECYCLING COLLECTION HAD BEEN DELAYED BECAUSE OF THE BAD WEATHER OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN AWAY WITH THE GARBAGE. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW STUPID THE DRIVER WAS. STOP USING THESE CHEAP DELIVERY COMPANIES AS THEY ARE A FALSE ECONOMY AND YOU WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS. USE ROYAL MAIL. I AM EXPECTING SOME FROST DAMAGE AND WILL BE SEEKING REPLACEMENTS .
I took advantage of a special offer (via link from moneymatters website) from Thompson Morgan.... where the offer was for £100.00 of perennials for £15.00. A great offer one might think, until I received the 'plants'... 4 x 5 plug plants which were dead on arrival!! ...withered brown tops with no growth evident.
I emailed their customer services about the disappointing delivery and also questioned whether they were in breach of Trading Standards .. as 20 plug plants doesn't cost £100.00 even on their own website!
After two weeks I received their response, that it was 'normal' for their plug plants to only have a root ball and no growing top.... and that these plug plants represented £100.00 'goods' (and some seed packets, not ordered by me and not part of the stated deal ...thrown in for good measure ).
Shame on you Thompson Morgan, what a terrible way to deal with your customers! ....................and buyer beware!
Good offers at certain times of the year. I've bought seeds and seed potatoes from them lots of times. I've had a couple of problems with the wrong variety of potatoes being delivered but it was resolved to my advantage both times. First year, refund and second year replaced.
i've spent hundreds of pounds with them over many years. This year, however, they have lost grip. Usual order for Christmas bulbs for all the family was acknowledged, but not fulfilled. Consequent e-mails, phone calls and letters from 26 December - 7 January were not answered, or not answered satisfactorily: was just told the order was not on their database: even though I have a letter to prove that they received the order.
They may not be the cheapest company for seeds, but I have been buying from them for the last 6 years without any problems, and they do have some excellent special offers. Its the the huge range of varieties of flowers and vegetables that keep me coming back, and occasionally they have a seed sale when you can pick up even more bargains. I would highly recommend Thompson & Morgan
We ordered a vine & seed potatoes. They took money and then said order was sold out. Cheekily they did not refund money and said order would be processed next year!!! Had to ring them to get refund. Will not be dealing with them again and will advise DT accordingly.
what a fantastic array of seeds and plants trees etc, delivery is very fast and really well packaged. have some great offers online if you keep your eyes peeled. can be alittle pricey without the offers :)
