A pointless service

Supposedly free & instantly confirmed. However, there appears to be no accuracy to the availability shown, leading to restaurant phoning back later to say they are full. This makes it an enquiry not a booking which is substantially slower than just phoning the restaurant in the first place. Pointless.

Didn't pass booking on to restaurant!

Despite the two emails from toptable confirming my booking, when we arrived at the restaurant they had no record of it at all. Very embarrassing! I won't use toptable again.

Useless, so far

Persuaded to join while using the Amex website. So far, unable to book a single restaurant in England that I wanted to go to.

Let me book when restaurant was closed that day

I booked a table for 6 people for my girlfriend's birthday (Monday 4th July), but when we turned up the restaurant was closed.

From the other reviews here, it seems toptable don't have a very tight connection with the establishments they work with. Maybe they're too eager to get as many places aboard as possible, that they don't make sure to get their full buy in. That renders the service they provide rather useless.

I always review the places I book on Toptable & frankly its a waste of time because the low scoring ones never get published. I always write truthful accounts of my experiences and I assumed that the reviews of places that I read were balanced - not so.

Not booked

I booked a table at planet hollywood disney paris on 07.03.2011 for 31.08.2011, got there in plenty of time for my table but they had no booking, after 10 days in france I don't know if it was french staff being difficult yet again or if it was a top table error. I left negative feedback about the restruant as the staff took away a picture I had left on the back of my seat that was taken by one of their staff, I did return within 2 minuets the table had not been cleared but people on another table told me they had taken the picture plus under cooked expensive small portions, but as yet it is not on their feedback page so no point in using them just book directly as I will in future

Rubbish Service

I was deeply unimpressed with the service as when I booked to go to a restaurant I arrived to find that it was closed. This cost me £29 in taxi fares.

When I complained Top Table said that their system allows bookings for restaurants that are closed BUT then sends an unfullfilled email to tell you that they cannot accept the booking. They had the wrong email address (either because I typed it wrong or they did) BUT did not try to contact me in any other way despite presumably getting a bounce. They had my mobile number so could have sent a text.

This is unacceptable and I for one will not be using them again - better to ring the restaurant direct. I also agree that I have never seen a bad review!!!

Unreliable reviews

Even truthful unbiased reviews are removed, presumably because the restaurant complains. As a result the reviews you read cannot be trusted. Therefore look elsewhere for reliable reviews and then book through Toptable if that restaurant is featured.

They only like positive reviews!!! Therefore the reviews you read on the restaurants are not reliable at all. Dreadful.

Great for deals... bad if you're looking for any useful info

Toptable is absolutely biased towards positive reviews, and have, in the past, removed some of my reviews as apparently the restaurant complained. There's no point in attempting to determine if a restaurant is good or not from this site. However, their offers are fantastic and good value for credit crunch times. It's a shame their weekly email seems to repatedly feature the same restaurants over and over again, otherwise I might have stayed subscribed. Their site is also riddled with errors and misspellings, so it's not the greatest experience.

they "expired" all my points!

I saved nearly 4000 points and then, out of the blue, they were wiped. when I checked my account they were all marked as "expired" - I had not used the website for a couple of months, that's all. rubbish.

Biased to mainly show positive reviews

I booked and had a meal at a Restaurant which wasn't very good, when I looked later there were positive reviews dated before and after my submission so they positivity censor reviews to make the venues look better....
