SORRY BUT NOT TOO IMPRESSED!

Have booked a few hotels with this company and sorry but they have competition which is far nicer, cleaner and comfier! I stayed in one in Aberdeen which was really dirty and the internal restaurant was just awful - however they room was refunded so the customer service in that respect was good. Haven't really stayed in once since though as put off!

Travelodge Room Cancellation Insurance

WARNING

Before purchasing Travelodge 'Room Cancellation Insurance' be sure to read through the insurance policy terms and conditions.
I assumed that I could cancel for any reasonable cancellation situation but I was wrong. I booked the room as I was attending an aunt's party. Unfortunately she passed away before the party so I wanted to cancel the room.
Atlas Insurance PCC Limited, who administer Travelodge's insurance, do not consider this to be one of the insured risks and they refused the claim.
They state:
"We would advise that the policy provides cover for the death, serious injury of a relative. The definition of relative, as per the policy wording, is 'your partner and you or your partner's, Parent, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, (including adopted or fostered children) Grandparent, Grandchild, Step-parent, Stepchild, Stepbrother, Stepsister or Next of Kin' "
Elderly aunts are not included.
The definition of a 'relative' is not even shown on their 'Policy Summary' you have to look at the 'Policy Wording'

Couldn't have been more helpful

Stayed at the travelodge in Waterford and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They went above and beyond to help. Rooms were nice and clean. Recommend to anyone.

Excellent and quiet

Stayed at Bethnal Green Travelodge in February for business and some sightseeing.

Nice, clean and quiet accommodation. Polite service - highly recommended.

out of pocket due to error made by travelodge and no reimbursement and unable to get any response.

I have stayed several times at the Travelodge in Guildford and have always found the staff polite and helpful. However, my recent experience angers and frustrates me.
When I checked out from a stay on 3rd Jan the receptionist, who had been very helpful in finding me a quiet room, said that she would allocate me this room for my next visit.
When I checked in on 23/01 the receptionist informed me that I had 2 rooms booked for that day. this I could not understand. I asked her to check that I had 2 rooms booked for 14/02 but she said that on their system I only had 1.
To keep it brief after several phone calls costing over £10 I had to rebook my room for 14/02. at the cost of £49. I am over £60 out of pocket.
The cause of the problem was that the receptionist at Guildford did not check the booking number when she tried to be helpful and altered a booking for 14/02 to 23/01. This was confirmed by Central Reservations when they accessed the hotels booking site. They gave me the name of the employee concerned.
I have been unable to even elicit a response from customer services and needless to say have not even been reimbursed let alone any compensation.
Unfortunately I have pre-booked non refundable bookings and will have to stay at Travelodge again or lose more money.

Would not use this company again

I phoned well in advance and asked if I could book a £30 room on the day. I was told that would be fine and there were rooms available. When I arrived in the late evening there were no rooms available, I was told it is not possible to pay for a room with cash without booking and was then offered a room in a nearby Travelodge. The room was three times the price and I was charged £111. The room was basic to say the least, with a bath I could only just sit in and no facilities other than a bed and some tea or coffee. What a disgrace. Not even worth £30. I will never use them again.

TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET

Up until last year Travelodge were as cheap as chips, they then suddenly decided to change tack and charge us slightly less than the nearest budget hotel in your chosen area hence the massive price rises that you see today.Their sale days used to cause the server to crash as you picked up rooms for £9,£10,£12 and £15,but not any longer £21 is the cheapest you will find and some in London are ridiculous prices. Some hotels are brand new and some have been refurbished but the untouched ones aren't worth £10 a night as everything is so dated in them.I have recently used IBIS hotels which are cheaper than Travelodge and give FREE internet in the room.

Rip off

Booked a room as had a meeting up north. Unfortunately after 2.5 hours driving got a phone call to advise the meeting had been called off. I contacted Travelodge to cancel the booking and was advised that it was after midday (13.15) so I could not cancel.

This is besides the fact I would be back the following week.

Will never use them again.

Reasonable value for money

Used Travelodge a lot, some of them have undergone refurbishment which was much needed. Staff are usually polite although they sometimes are thin on the ground and reception is often unmanned. Recently seen vending machines at some that did not previously have them, typically overpriced - cheaper to get food and drink outside and bring in with you.

Rubbish

Greeted by smell of urine in staircase. Stains on the walls near the bed from God knows what!
Dirty tiles in the bathroom.
Broken furniture, missing bedside shelf.

Cost £25 for one night - I didn't sleep much - worried about what might be in the bed.

No response from the owners when asked to complete their on-line 'How did we do?' email.

I am aware that they are upgrading but I for one will never use the services of Travelodge again.

Beyond Awful

Dirty towels, dusty rooms, horrible beds, woken up several nights in a row by the fire alarms and the stench of cannabis in the hallway. But worst of all was the awful customer service who take several days to respond via email (there is no phone number). An absolute waste of space, will never be staying in one again, the holiday and premier inn are slightly more expensive but from now on I will never stay in another travelodge.

Hotel staff made up for it.

The first room we checked into had stains on the walls and lampshades. After going back to reception and explaining the problem, the staff were very aplogetic and extremely helpful in finding us a different room. Very pleased with the service, would use again :)

Travelodge is my first choice

Easy to make bookings. They are always my first choice. Never had any serious problems and have stayed at several all over the UK. Always found the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast and Dinner are of good value.

FAMILY UNFRIENDLY

After attending a wedding we arrived to check in to our room at Birmingham Moor Street Travelodge with our three year old son (which we had booked and paid for two months earlier) to discover they had already given it to someone else, they hadn't bothered to ring to tell us or make any alternative arrangements. We stood in their reception as the receptionist rang around at 10pm on a Saturday night to find us alternative accommodation. When accommodation was found the receptionist lied to me about how far away it was which meant that I took his word it would be a 'short' journey and didn't get the car seat for our toddler from our car - the 'short' journey turned out to be 25mins in a mini-cab taxi on duel carriageways with my child unrestrained!! I am so upset by this I struggle to put it into words.

When we finally arrived at the new hotel close to midnight they had been told that we needed two double rooms - this wasn't suitable for a three year old so we said we'd take just one room. They managed to muster up a mattress to put on the floor for him and a duvet and pillow with no cover or pillowcases. The room was serviceable at best, the bathroom was mouldy and fairly minging.

The next morning my partner tried to take our son to the male toilets by the reception area to find them smeared all over with excrement. Added to all the upheaval of the previous night I don't think my son will ever want to stay in a hotel again! When my partner told a member of staff about the toilet she essentially shrugged and said she hadn't had time to clean the mens toilets yet . . this was past 11am!!

When we tried to get a taxi back to the town we should have been staying in (for we were now at a travelodge some 8 miles away) it took nearly an hour to arrange and when it did arrive it again had no child car seat suitable for my son. All this faff meant we missed the planned meal we were due to be having and our nice relaxing Sunday spent exploring a city we'd never been to ended up hellish in a horrible travelodge and just trying to get back to where we started from.

I complained to travelodge about the shoddy experience we had received and they didn't even bother to reply, I just got an email offering me £36 in evouchers to use at their hotels. They have to be kidding, we won't ever be staying in their hotel again and I expect a proper refund.

This trip was supposed to be a big adventure for my son, his first night in a hotel . . . travelodge left him scared that we wouldn't have anywhere to stay late at night and then upset that he was traveling in a vehicle with no car seat. They have ruined what should have been special and they can't even be bothered to say sorry.

Awful, cold, unwelcoming, broken furniture

I have stayed in three Travelodges - one in Aberdeen, one in Edinburgh and one in Swansea. All three times the staff are disinterested, rude and clearly couldn't give a flying shed about customer service. I appreciate it's cheap, but so is another large chain and the rooms are incomparable. In Aberdeen the radiator was hanging off the wall, the shower head was filthy, there was hair in the plug hole and the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. In Edinburgh the room was freezing and i was very paranoid about the cleanliness of the bed and I don't normally have any reservations about this in hotels. In Swansea the room wasn't too bad but it was very sparse and unwelcoming and there were no towels.

I will never use Travelodge again. It isn't worth it.
