Having posted constructive feedback on usage of the Trustpilot site on the 7th of October, this was blocked for a breach of the rules for referring to a rival review site which is way easier to use. Despite Trustpilot saying they were editing the review to remove the external reference, nothing happened until I sent a chase email on the 16th of October. Then the offending competitor name was removed and the review posted. I have never encountered such red tape for posting both my original supplier review and then for my review of Trustpilot. I will certainly not place a review nor use the Trustpilot supplier reviews as the red tape distorts the real time nature of reviews. The Facebook only login for the reviews seems nonsensical as they have Google log-ins on the main site. I am left speechless.

I understand it can be frustrating when you see a review you have written is reported. Further, I’m sorry to hear that you don’t like the connect options via Facebook. We are aware of the issue and acknowledge that not everyone is in favor of using Facebook. However, the validation of user profiles via Facebook helps us drive Trustpilot in the right direction. We believe the review platform should contain as few anonymous profiles as possible. In addition, by requiring user validation via Facebook we see less fake user profiles. So validation through Facebook helps us to achieve these goals, although we know it’s not the perfect solution. We are looking into other options for social validation. How that will work and when it will be live is too early to tell.
