Life changing!!
Been thinking about getting my eyes lasered for about a year, then spoke to a work college who had it done. Got the DVD, had the consultation. Everything was very flexible which fitted conveniently into my busy work schedule, then I was convinced it was for me. I was very nervous on the day of the surgery. Was made to feel very comfortable by all the staff and was re-assured at all times. There was some discomfort during the surgery which was unpleasant but bearable and only lasted 30 secs to a minuite. The recovery time is the only part that is always going to differ as everyone is different. I would advise a few days off work, resting at home.

100% worth it!!
I am so glad i chose to get my eyea lasered with ultralase. Id been thinking about it for some time and after being worried about it I finally went for a consultation. The people at ultralase talk you through everything and make you feel very welcome. I didnt wait long at all for the procedure and the nurse was very reassuring and went over everythinf that would happen and held my hand throughout. Although there was some discomfort to start during the procedure the surgeon put in some more drops and I felt hardly any discomfort after that!! Within a day i could see so much better it was amazing. Defiantly worth it!! And at my check up two days after the procedure I was told I had 20/20 vision which was fantastic!

Great can read and see without glasses but wrinkles on face look worse ah ah
Found them to be very professional and very helpfull. put me at ease staff very friendly
nothing was to much trouble. I was met and treat very well when I attended for surgery
and the specialist and nurses were very attentive and made me feel very comfortable.
Follow up appointments have been very good. Would not have any hesitation in
recommending anyone to you.

Perfect service
i had a hassle free experience with ultralase,and am now enjoying a life with no contact lenses or glasses(my eyes were -5 ).
my only regret is i did`nt have it done sooner.

I'm so glad I had the treatment, I only wish I'd had the courage to do it years ago!
I had the laser treatment 6mo ago (June 2012). After 30yrs of contact lenses, suffering tired, red eyes with contacts but too vain to wear my glasses I feel like a new woman with my near perfect vision! Perfect for the outdoor sporty person, not having to worry about wind and rain causing lens problems on mountain walks, or cycling. It was amazing on holiday last summer to swim and dive in the pool and sea without having the usual contact lens problem!
The only negatives are that it was extremely painful in the first 12-24 hours (yes, worse than having a baby!), but well worth it! The other niggle is that I sometimes have a problem opening my eyes after being asleep due to the eyelid sticking to the eye's cornea - still have to use eye gel every night to try and prevent this. But again on balance WELL WORTH IT!

After doing a lot of research and having consultations with the big names in laser eye surgery, I settled on Ultralase.
My consultation at Nottingham was completely flawless. They were prompt, polite and willing to let me ask questions. When I asked them questions regarding surgeon statistics, complication rates etc they were more than willing to be forthcoming. This I found very reassuring as they didn't have anything to hide and I felt I could make a more informed decision on the surgery.
The deposit was easily paid however setting up the credit agreement was a bit of a pain, although being in the military I understand getting credit is more difficult.
The day of the surgery was very fast, and this is were I downgrade them by a half star. I was fully informed on all possible complications before I went in and all my questions were relating to how to look after my eyes following surgery however I felt like I was on a bit of a conveyor belt. Obviously, there is a limited number of skilled surgeons and they are working out of many clinics so they are trying to get through as many appointments as possible but this gave me a much more impersonal experience than my consultation which I enjoyed for being thorough and relaxed.
The surgery itself was painless and the sensations are difficult to describe but I was very nervous. I was in and out in about 15 minutes and the surgeon confirmed that there were no problems and everything was looking good.
Post surgery is very painful but provided you have a lot of kitchen roll, a dark room and some sleeping tablets, you get through the worst of it in about 6 hours. I'm easily driving standard now (3 weeks on) and am told that I am approaching 20/20. I haven't achieved the WOW factor yet but LASEK is a slower recovery time (20/20 could take up to 6 months) and I still have a drop regime but overall I am very pleased with the purchase. It's too early to say if I will need more corrections but if things carry on the way they are, I probably won't.
Ultralase has been bought over by Optimax so I don't really know how things will change for me in terms of aftercare but I will find out in the new year at my next follow up I expect.
Before you consider surgery I recommend you
1) do a lot of research (most companies will bias their stats in the fine print)
2) ask lots of questions (confirm your information / detect any bullshit)
3) have more than one consultation (that opened my eyes if you'll pardon the pun)
4) ask for statistics on surgeons (most important issue for me)
5) speak to an independent optician (mine gave me excellent advice)
6) don't let cost be the driving factor in your decision
There's no rush to get surgery (even though you will be harassed several times per week to make an appointment under the guise of "how was your consultation?") Find a company/independent you trust, then look at the cost, the surgery is highly unlikely to go wrong, but a bit of homework can help you put your mind at ease.

Would recommend Ultralase to anyone
Very friendly people they made me feel totaly relaxed, i never felt a thing. After the op i had a few hours of discomfort but that only lasted for about 5 hours. The next day it didn't feel as iff i had had anything done.

THIS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE !
My main difficulty was seeing things close up as my astigmatisms couldn't be corrected perfectly with contacts. I was nervous on the day but apart from feeling pressure on my eyes during the operation and a slight smell of burning it was absolutely fine. My eyes irritated for 4 hours and then were completely pain free. The redness went away after a week or so. I had dry eyes for about 2 months for which I was given drops. My sight is BRILLIANT. I have one eye for close up and one eye for faraway vision - took my brain about 1 week to get used to - my sight has never been so good. I can even see at night when driving - I used to find car headlights totally blinded me. It may be expensive but has been worth every penny.

disappointed
had my eyes done for reading, which is great, i was told distance might be a bit blurred, but i cant see peoples face across the room, and driving at night is awful.My eyes are very sore towards the end of day, i hate not seeing things ahead of me, wish i had not had it done. I do have to say the staff were all very lovely and very friendly.

monovision problems
Apparetl my eyesight is exactly as it should be its just my brain which is the problem but three months after my treatment I am still having problems with monovision. They are very helpful and keep telling me i need to wait longer but it certainy isnt steadily improving - if anything quite the opposite :-( Hopefully it wil all be ok in the end, but its very unsettling at the moment.

Staff were great, but wish I hadn't had it done.
Had one eye lasered, to improve on reading and working on Pc which is very important to my role at work. I wish I had never had it done. Since then have had to wear a contact lens in that eye to push the vision out a bit. Although I Trialed the lens for two weeks before the procedure, once done it was nothing like it. Without the lens I feel sick, can't drive safely and at night, not at all. My sight has been checked many times since and would seem that the left eye has worked but when both eyes try and work together I get an over lap and have double vision and feel very sick. This hasn't improved in 6 months. The contact lens is very irritating and makes the eye very sore, but have no choice but to wear it if I want to be able to do my job. Etc.

Brilliant could not believe difference
I am really pleased with how my treatment turned out had slight bit discomfort dry eyes but once got correct eye drops sorted it out I would recommend to anyone gettin up in mornings an not needing glasses or contact lenses is life changing

PERFECT!
Ultralase have been amazing. From the little details of having a nice coffee machine and the professional surgeons, nurses and technicians. Everything has been perfect and I am so happy with my eyes. I was concerned with dryness on the eyes but I voiced my concerns at an aftercare appointment and everything was explained and I was given some drops to help with the dryness. Now I have no problems what so ever.

Amazing!
Ultralase were efficient and professional from start to finish. All appointments ran to time, they explained exactly what would happen, the procedure was quick and virtually painless, and the results have been amazing. Yes, it cost a lot more than some of the companies advertising on the tv, but I felt as though I was benefitting from cutting edge technology rather than an inferior outdated treatment, and being operated on by clearly a top eye specialist gave me a lot of confidence. 10/10

The single worst decsion I have made in my life
Although Ultralase have been very professional. I feel that I have not had the eyesight I wanted after spending the best part of 4 grand. The people are very nice and give so much information it makes it seem as it will be the best thing you ever do. For me this has not been the case. I was given all the information regarding the surgery, but limited information on the possible outcomes.
After paying your fee upfront before you have your final consultation prior to the surgery, this makes you feel obliged to go through with the operation, wondering if you would get your money back if you did not. I did have concerns about the outcomes but still felt that I would benefit significantly, after.
I have spent money to basically reverse my eyesight, and have lost my long distance sight which is now blurred, (although they say it may take up to 3 months for my long distance to return I am feeling very sceptical about this) and I will probably need to have glasses for driving. It would have been good for the consultants and opticians at Ultralase to say that for the cost I would be better off keeping my money and spending it on reading glasses as the operation would not benefit me sufficiently. After 50 years of being able to see clearly my distance is now blurred.
The plus side is that I now do not need glasses for reading and computer work. But I am unhappy with the outcome, I would say for me the experience has been traumatic and I wish I could turn back time.

I wish I'd done this sooner!
I was having major problems with contact lenses causing dry, gritty eyes. I work in an environment with dry, filtered air and was having to wear my glasses more and more. I had thought about having laser eye surgery for ages but was too scared. My brother had his eyes done earlier this year with great results so I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I just wish I'd done it sooner. The procedure itself (LASEK) was painless but the 24 hours afterwards were really uncomfortable - like cutting onions and rubbing chillies in your eyes. Despite the discomfort my vision was noticeably better instantly. Things settled down after a few days and my vision is amazing now. Even night driving is no problem.
All the Ultralase employees were very professional. My initial consultation lasted around 2 hours with numerous (non-invasive) tests to establish which procedure was right for me. The results were then explained in detail at a level I'd understand and plans were made for having the procedure done. Unfortunately there were no dates in Glasgow which suited me so Ultralase arranged for me to have the procedure in Edinburgh and took the cost of return rail travel and a hotel off the total price!
I have no regrets and would recommend this procedure to anyone.

good service
we had the treatment in June and both of us have one eye that is blurred. hope it will clear as it is still early days (6 months). Bit disappointed they have merged with Optimax because i will need more laser treatment, and i would have liked the same person to do it, which is not going to happen.

A life changing experience that I would do over and over again to have the gift of sight - unaided!
I can honestly say the service I received at Ultralase was amazing and I would recommend them without hesitation. I had Lasek treatment - albeit more painful recovery would have it done again. Nina the optomotrist was warm and welcoming and made me feel instantly at ease about my decision. She explained everything in detail in response to my questions - and I can assure you I had a lot! It wasn't straightforward as perforated retinas were identified but that just gave me more confidence that they knew what they were doing and would not perform the procedure without referring me to a hospital first and getting the 'all clear' to go ahead and have the surgery. Kate the personal 'assistant' was also fantastic, and was friendly, bubbly while also being very reassuring having had the experience of laser eye surgery herself. All in all I was treated brilliantly and felt I was given factual and honest information throughout.

Sarah was amazing and organised absolutely everything for me, and Mr. Mantri , my surgeon, gave me all the information I needed about what procedures he was going to do.there was no pain involved and I am very happy with the result and my aftercare.

Wavefront Ultra Elite - Be Warned!
Not convinced with you get what you pay for with the supposedly "top service". I went for the Wavefront Ultra Elite service costing me around £4k and after 6 months I am concerned that i have paid excessive amount of money for what i could have achieved paying half the amount or less.
On the checkup appointments they say you have achieved 20:20 vision.. ok if i stop blink about 10times to re apply the tear film over my eyes and spend 5 - 10 seconds trying to focus as clear as possible then yes. My new vision is not 20:20 as it is not practical to stare at everything you are looking at and blinking excessively to achieve this vision e.g. how do you do this whilst driving?
My brother had the cheapest surgery and comparing my vision to his he states that his is the same as mine and he sees things the same way i do.
My right eye has actually ended up weaker than my left eye and so if below 20:20 vision and so has a minor prescription (not enough to warrant wearing glasses).
I know 3 or 4 other people who have had Laser Eye surgery and have opted for the cheapest option. (one person paying as little as £800 (£400 per eye) after using each company to price wars against themselves and then claim a £500 off voucher on top of the lowered price) again no complaints with the cheaper treatment and 20:20 vision supposedly achieved.

Highly Recommended Treatment and Company, but LasEK customers beware!
Overall I am very happy with the treatment and service I received from the company. They were very helpful, explanatory and accommodating. The treatment has been a success and I am extremely glad I went through with it.
The only bad point I have to bring up, with the LasEK, not LasIK treatment, is I was told the post appointment antithetic I could use for the rest of the day only had 6 drops in it, 3 per eye, so we tried to ration them in order to get a good night's sleep. The next day there after using 8 drops, there was still about half left in the bottle... I really could have used those extra drops due to the agony I was in the previous day. It didn't help that I was resistant to the drops either. They said you should use as little as possible to prevent interrupting the healing process.
My advice is to do yourself a favor and use as many drops as you need, it was a horrible experience to go through without them and your eyes will heal regardless of how many you use.

The key impression given was 'Careful and Caring'
Everybody involved from the reception staff to the surgeon carrying out the procedure seemed intent on ensuring that my every need or concern was taken care of.
The procedure itself (RLE) was less hassle and discomfort than having a tooth filled, all procedures and systems smooth and well practiced. Fitting the whole thing into my schedule was simplicity itself, assessment and procedure booked (from overseas) months in advance and carried out on time - to the minute. The facilities, equipment and premises were absolutely top spec !
Obviously, I did a fair bit of independent research before hand so that I understood fully, exactly what was being discussed and what the options being presented, and the attendant risks, were. It always helps if you know what they are talking about ! However the information pack provided was fully detailed and informative.
'Ultralase' has now been merged with 'Optimax' - purely, it seems for commercial / financial reasons, aimed at putting the merged company on a more stable, sound, commercial footing. Whether this will affect the performance of the surgical side of the operation is yet to be seen, however, as one of my 'Aftercare' appointments immediately followed the merger, (in fact while the merger was happening physically and offices being re-located!) the care shown and the procedures followed were excellent with every impression given that 'The Patient' was the most important consideration throughout.
The final result of the procedure has been well up to expectation. I now have around 85% perfect vision without aids, brightness and clarity being astonishingly improved with focus, still settling, but well above driving standards without spectacles.
I still need glasses for computer/reading use ( I opted for single focus lenses for simplicity) and at the moment use driving glasses (an old pair re-glazed) to take care of the few percent residual prescription.
It's the little things that are perhaps the most revealing, I recently had problems with a passport application form, filled it out with a blue biro rather than the black required. Couldn't tell the difference. Now that same, rejected, form is clearly, almost startlingly, blue !

Why wouldn't you?
A very good intial review where I was talked through the procedure and risks as well as the financials. I was able to pay up the surgery interest free over three years which made it a much more attractive option than an initial lump sum payment. I booked an appointment to get the surgery while I was at my consultation for two weeks later. The procedure was very quick and I felt comfortable throughout.
Went back the next day for the follow up and was back driving again with excellent quality of vision. The nightvision light halos have disappeared (as was explained to me at my consultation this takes a little time).
No messing about with lenses, glasses or any of the associated hassle. I'd recommend Ultralase to any of my friends or family.

If you want to wake up and see perfectly, have laser eye surgery!
It's amazing. After I have the temporary contact lenses removed I had perfect driving standered vision. I don't get irritated with dry eyes from wearing contact lenses. I can go on holiday without worrying if I have my glasses or lenses. It's the best thing I could have done.

Great clinic, friendly staff and good price
I had the Lasek procedure in September after a friend of mine recommended the clinic, I booked for a consultation which took approximately 2 hours, one pressured me on booking the procedure, on the day of the treatment the nurse stated all the medications I had to take and what times and answered all my question, I thought my doctor Mark Wevill was great, we chatted for ages and he relaxed me. The procedure took approx. 15mins.
I have no complaints about the clinic and the staff I just wish the price was better.

I trusted this company with my eyes!
I initially went to a different optical place for an assessment and after a very bad experience nearly changed my mind about having treatment. But I decided to try Ultralese and see how they performed the initial assessment.
It was such a totally different experience. I was a person, not a number. The amount of checks they did made me feel like I was in safe hands. I was not hounded afterwards to make a booking for treatment. The aftercare is fantastic. 24 hour helpline available and as many appointments as you need.
I would totally recommend Ultralese to anyone who is looking to get there eyes lasered.

The World is a brighter place.
Really can not complain. Helpful, reassuring and courteous. Was greated warmly, and made to feel at ease from the moment I got in.
Process was effiicient despite there being a couple of missing files issues. These were found and the treatment was completed quickly.
Follow Up support was also very reassuring.
