I heard about Ventrolla on the web and arranged to see a sales representative who demonstrated the system. Its advantages were immediately apparent when compared to installing new window frames and sashes. The solution is much cheaper without any loss in quality and you retain the existing frames. This means that there is less damage and mess during the fitting process. The guys who did the fitting were excellent and much to my wife's relief, they cleaned up at the end of each working day. Everyone we either met or communicated with at Ventrolla was really excellent and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the product, the service and the company.
Tim, October 2013
We were really impressed with Ventrolla from the first phone call to the completion of the installation. We found that our phone calls were handled quickly and satisfactorily. The surveyor really knew his business, took his time and made no mistakes. When the new sashes arrived they all fitted perfectly. The installer was courteous, efficient and skilled - did an excellent job and cleaned up after himself every day. He was given sufficient time to do the job well - not having to rush the installation to move on to another job. All in all, my wife and I were extremely impressed with Ventrolla - will certainly be going back to them to refurbish the rest of our windows in due course and would recommend them to anybody
I live in a small, traditional cottaege, and it was very important to me to have my windows replaced in a style that was sympathetic to the original. From start to end of this project, I was treated with courtesy and consideration. The initial visit gave me a lot of confidence in Ventrolla, as the manager clearly prioritised my interests, was very professional and knowledgable, took time to discuss all issues and queries, and talk things through. I was kept informed at all stages, and was able to ask questions and receive prompt answers at any point. Yes, there were hitches and hiccups, but sometimes, you only find out just how good a company is when things go wrong. In these few and minor instances, Ventrolla were absolutely superb. I should add that, in addition to being established specialists, their price was significantly cheaper than the UK's best known (general) installation firm.I am just thrilled with the results, and have already recommended Ventrolla, without hesitation, to family and friends.
When Mark and Chris arrived at 8am it was raining. When they left it was pouring down and the subsequent damage to Saltburn was a disaster, So you can just imagine what it was like renovating windows!!!!! the boys were very industrious and worked well. They were lucky that they finished when they did as all roads in and out of Saltburn were flooded they tidied up quite well for boys!!!!! The only drawback to the whole task was that the rain washed off the undercoat that Chris put on Well done Mark and Chris for working well under dreadful conditions..
I have recently had 2 sets of wooden sash windows renovated by Ventrolla. I am absolutely delighted with the job that has been done. I cannot speak highly enough of Simon who carried out the work. He was punctual , friendly, hard-working and trustworthy. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Company. The salesman was also far more friendly and professional than any other Company's that I considered. He went that extra mile to provide a great service. Thank you Ventrolla!
Ventrolla provided a good after care service and promptly fixed my sash window which was rattling. So far they have kept to my gurantee and i would recommend them because of this as not many company have a good after care service.
Our experience with Ventrolla was great from start to finish. After we accepted the quote, we were booked in very quickly due to a cancellation. We have 1 or 2 workmen each day and they were pleasant and polite and very hard working. Our windows were done 2 days ahead of schedule. One year on, they are brilliant! All our windows now open and close and none of them rattle. Thanks Ventrolla!
I was impressed by Ventrolla's employees - from the sales rep who demonstrated the system to the fitters who did the work - each was an ambasasador for the company. Fitting the system took four days as estimated and was undertaken systematically and efficiently, raising no mess and leaving no mess despite the serious routing required to fit the system. New cords, balanced, smoothly operating, draft proof sashes, neat brass handles and locks too - marvellous! And detailed instructions for subsequent painting and maintenance to boot. If you have old worn drafty sashes Ventrolla is for you!
Work was carried out professionally and with minimum disruption. I am very pleased with the appearance of the windows, both casement and sash, everthing works perfectly. Draught proofing and sound insulation excellent.
The cost for extensive additional works came as a very unpleasant surprise given that a survey was carried out prior to quotation. Some additional repairs/replacements that were necessary were clearly visible and took your installer only minutes to spot - these should have been included in the quote. Therefore a true and fair comparison with other quotes could not be made.
The surveyor and workmen turned up on time, were polite, and knew exactly what they were doing. The work was top quality, which is the most important, but they cleared up after the job too. The service is not cheap, but I wanted the job done properly, and once only. I would have no problem recommending Ventrolla.
Ventrolla refurbished all our Victorian sashes (which had rotten sills, broken sashes, painted shut, etc.) and installed two lots of secondary glazing. They did a great job: really quick, no mess, all very professional. We had a slight problem with the secondary glazing and they came back to fix it within a few days. I would definitely use them again.
Ventrolla promised much but delivered little. I had to ask them to come back twice after they thought they had finished because the fittings didn't work properly. The soundproofing has not worked at all; in fact there is less soundproofing than there was as they cut bits out of the windows to put their "draft-proofing in". Not recommended.
The work was completed efficiently with no friction at any point, hence the 5 stars. The assessment of our windows was frank and honest, and demonstrated a willingness to do as I had asked, which was to see that they were put into a good condition. There was delay in doing the work, but right from the outset this was made clear. The work was completed according to the estimate. I would certainly use the firm again. The workman was scrupulous in ensuring that there was no unnecessary mess and everything was cleared up well.
Living in a cherished period property we were cautious choosing a company to replace and repair some of our sash windows.
Colin carried out the initial survey and explained the process and benefits of Ventrolla without applying any pressure or attempting to increase the order by over selling extras.
His team arrived exactly as agreed and completed the work quickly without cutting corners. They regularly consulted me throughout to confirm my satisfaction and were polite and personable.
After the work was completed they thoroughly cleaned and tidied.
We would certainly use Ventrolla again.
I have used Ventrolla twice and very satisfied both times. One very large project , one just a couple of doors. Property defo warmer as a result of stopping draughts.
Good service from skilled staff. Office could have been a tad more friendly when it came to booking.
The initial contact and subsequent work seemed pretty good and we were full of praise for Ventrolla. For a 3-sash bay and another window £2000 seemed steep for merely refurbishing, but i was happy to pay this for the excellent work i believed was being provided with.
Sadly I now know better:
We realised now that other companies also paint the wooden panels they replace whereas Ventrolla only paints replaced bits with a thin undercoat leaving it exposed to the elements and requiring more money to be spent on decorators.
We noticed later (after scaffolding was put up for other work) that the replacement panes of glass hadn't been installed properly, that the putty work was dreadfully done and that it wasn't even puttied on the inside. They also didn't clean the replaced panes afterwards leaving it with smears in practically unreachable places! We also discovered huge lengths of loose putty that was never even replaced.
It also came to light that the workman covered severly damaged parts of the frame with new wood leaving us to later discover that the panels underneath were full of dry rot and wood worm. Another carpenter that fixed it in the end pointed out that it was clearly visible, but ignored as it would have added extensively to the work being done.
They missed the fact that the decorative frame around the outside of the window had also considerable wood worm damage.
We also realised that the draught strips weren't colour matched as we have exposed wood on the interior parts of the window and white painted wood on the outside. Now we have brown strips showing on the outside!
Last but not least we noticed a hole in the wallpaper (and subsequently the wall too) that was carefully covered so that it wouldn't be noticed.
I contacted the company and left several messages and explained the concerns i had to a lady who promised to get someone to contact me every time. Sadly it's been a year later and I am still waiting.
I finally realised that it was in vain and got a trustworthy tradesman to assist us in fixing all the things Ventrolla neglected to do, but didn't fail to charge us for.
It has to be the most expensive mistake we have ever made and i will never suggest anyone use their services. I just wish I could recover some of the cost!
Avoid them at all cost!
Staff are very friendly and easy to deal with on the phone. The installers are polite, quiet and clear up after they have finished. I have had windows and doors treated by Ventrolla in my Georgian property, and draughts and traffic noise have been reduced considerably. As it is a Grade 11 listed building, double glazing is not allowed, but this is the next best thing, and is more aesthetically pleasing.
We were very happy with the service provided by Ventrolla - we had had to wait rather longer than we would have wished but that was the fault of the dreadful weather this winter and spring. However the wait has been well worth it. The windows fit in with the look of our existing leaded windows in our old cottage. The benefit of non-heat loss is great. The team were very efficient, got on with the job and dealt with the inevitable problems that come with dealing with cob and brick. There was a condensation problem with one of the panes and this was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Dan and the team were pleasant and hard working and we also found that Linda, in the head office, was quick to sort anything out for us. We would recommend Ventrolla without reservation.
I used this company to renovate all the sash windows in my Victorian house. The salesman was very convincing and gave several guarantees and assurances about the work. The quote wasn't cheap, £7000, but I thought it was worth the price for peace of mind. How wrong could I be!
It started going wrong very quickly. The workmen would turn up any time between 9 & 11 and leave between 2 & 3!
The standard of work was appalling, truly appalling. Window frames damaged, locks & catches incorrectly placed or falling off, incorrect size of sills installed, windows not opening, windows falling open, the list was never ending.
One of the workmen put his foot through the wall in my bathroom & then told me there was nothing he could do about it!
I returned from work one day to be told they had replaced a window frame as it was apparently rotten. No cost or estimate was given, written or verbally. Then on leaving the job weeks later they produce a bill for £300. Contrary to their own contract they make you sign. I could still hear the salesman "don't worry, you won't be hit with any unexpected costs, it's all in the contract". I refused to pay & heard nothing more of it.
A year later, surprise surprise, windows have started falling or just won't open! I tired to claim on the guarantee & they have refused to come out stating I owe them money! They still haven't even fixed the damage they caused!!
Do not be fooled, DO NOT USE!!!!
As expected ALL TALK NO ACTION! 3 weeks later, still no contact from 'operations team'. Just shows how much they respect you once they have your money. Absolute Cowboys!!!!!!!
DO NOT USE!!
Normally you think "Window renovation company - hmmmm". Not with Ventrolla These guys are THE BEST.
We approached them late in 2012 after a recommendation from a friend - with a view to renovating the windows in our hotel and fit their custom design draft proofing.
The salesman, Chris was very professional and in no way pushy. Their system sold itself
Chris assessed and measured what we needed and off he went.
The work date was set. And bang on time, 8am on the Monday morning their joiner arrived - with everything needed for the job, replacement sections cut to size and ready to fit.
We were totally amazed how quick Simon did the job. 9 sashes totally refurbished and the rooms ready to go within just under two weeks. The work standards were more than 5 stat.
Their system is fantastic - speak to Ventrolla as I don't want to give away their secrets. Makes maintanance a breeze - we no longer need scaffolding to do our annual paint job.
Woud I recommend them? WITHOUT DOUBT
They are coming back next month to do more.
still waiting for follow up from area sales managers in July to a complaint from early last year. This was posted january this year and still no action, except an email saying someone would be in touch., I would recommend anybody using this company take full photos of each window that is being "renovated" before work starts and to be prepared to pay extras to be quoted. I would also suggest taking photos mid work when the workings of the sash are visible. We had what appeared to be leak free windows before ventroller came and since renovation the sills have buckled and joints have split, there was also some primer that was applied which according to the fitter has failed. Ventroller of course say they dont guarantee the paintwork, but they apply the primer. All confusing, frustrating
4 years ago we had our sash windows renovated by Ventrolla at a cost of over £7000.
Since then, condensation on the windows has been a real problem particularly in bedrooms.
4 years on, our bedroom bay window is showing signs of major deterioration and quick inspection by Ventrolla resulted in a quote of £250 for repair of a window frame where a piece of the frame had fallen out. The 5 year guarentee only covers the working mechanism of the sash windows.
We are very disappointed that having spent such a large amount of money we were under the false impression that our windows would not need further work after such a short time.
The windows are excellent, however, the whole process was arduous and frustrating. On arrival of the installation engineer it became clear that most of what we had asked for over the phone 6 months previously had not been updated on the records so we had a desperate morning liasing between the engineer and their customer service to make sure everything was as we wanted. This also included unexpected extra costs as we had received new invoices but they were so unclear that we weren't able to follow the changes in the charges. We're happy with the windows but when we replace the future ones i'm not sure we will use Ventrolla as the experience was not a pleasant one.
Ordered two pairs of new sashes with double glazing to replace what I suppose were the 1870-ish originals.
The fitter was polite enough and did the job tidily in the time expected, though he didn't know that the "spare" bits of wood in the kit of parts were mullions.
The catches supplied weren't fitted - because there was no way they could ever fit. As the sashes were double glazed, but in the original frames, the catches would have to be very slim. Presumably whoever organised the project should have known this and supplied suitable catches in the kit.
After fitting I phoned up and enquired: a very helpful lady posted me some "slimline" catches, which were still too wide. I gave up and adapted some of a different style that I found locally.
The counterweights sometimes didn't do their job properly, and sometimes the sashes wouldn't stay put. A fitter came and diagnosed that the weights were sticking, and drilled holes into the boxes so that the cords could be poked with a pencil to release the weights (instead of sorting it out properly; and thus also exposing the whole thing to weathering over a period of time). This improved matters somewhat, but some of the sashes now started to drop again as that the draught-proofing has flattened out.
The "staff bead" that is supposed to be on pop-off fittings was actually nailed into place instead, as I found out when I came to remove the sashes for painting.
All in all, the new sashes were a great improvement thermally, but the job as a whole wasn't thought out well.
2nd September. Haven't heard anything further yet? (unless it was the "missed call" while I was on a train in a tunnel, thus no signal; no voicemail left so it may have been somebody else?)
Quality of product and workmanship extremely high but the administration is a bit haphazard! It was difficult getting the right quote and the invoices were confusing although we got there in the end. I'm still waiting for the guarantee. If you don't usually issue one then I think you ought to and change your policy. We have had other work on the house carried out by very reputable companies (e.g. Heritage Windows) and in all cases quarantine documents were issued. These are important if you sell the house and you have something to pass on to the new owner, and it gives you peace of mind I case a fault develops. Something to consider. Please let me know what you think.
I first saw this product advertised in the National Press, wrote for details and received a no obligation reply.
Further enqueries produced more information and an offer for a consultation review.
The appointment was made in perfect order and from the advise a offered we agreed to having the windows restored and took advantage of The Company's offer of paying over twelve months at no interest charge.
I truly recommend Ventrolla Sash System.
I would not recommend them. The workmen rushed the job, arriving late and leaving early each day for various excuses but as they had a 1.5 to 2 hour journey each way I think they considered travelling part of the working day. This meant they were here for weeks and they were not happy or friendly workers. They took chunks out of the window frames which remain obvious. No response to complaints made and no follow up customer service. My husband had already paid, so they obviously felt there was no incentive to follow up. Paid £20k approx for a poor job and now 3 years later it could do with being done again. I would always choose local now. They were recommended to me by my decorator who had seen good work done by them locally, but he was shocked at the poor standard of work here, and said he would never recommend them again.
The newly refurbished windows have made a huge difference to everyday life, the noise level has been significantly reduced and there are no draughts! Much warmer in the house now. I don't no why Ventrolla are not more well known. We will be recommending your highly professional service
Great service, great results - worth every penny as last winter we were able to turn our heating down & have saved a fortune on our energy bill! We now sit happily in our lounge watching telly without a cold draught on our necks too! Our windows look brand new and they give our house the facelift it so desperately needed - would definitely recommend ventrolla.
Very professional company - no pressure selling. Very happy with the booking and measuring process, and the end result - two lovely new windows and one refurbished with draught-proofing. Thank you.
We found all the staff we met friendly and courteous right through the process and the same was true when we needed to phone the company. The guys who fitted it did a good job and were also very pleasant. The new window has achieved what we needed in our bathroom so we are very pleased with the product as well. The only slight downside is that we still have to apply a final coat of paint!
