Flew from JFK to Heathrow, delayed massively as the air crew were late getting to the airport, we missed the delparture slot that meant we were over 90 minutes taking off, due to the late leaving we missed our landing slot and had a further delay landing.......
Flight was ok, staff were helpful when pushed, maybe due to a full flight, I wasnt overly impressed with either the staff (which usually make the difference between other carriers) or the ground crew.
When I have a choice, I'll probably try someone else just to see what there like in comparision, certainly wouldn't recommend Virgin as anything special
Last trip to South Africa, worst food I have ever experienced on a plane in over 20 years of flying, yes it was that bad. I have been flying with Virgin for many years now, but after this last trip, I really have to question my loyalty to them.
Everything else was up to the usual good standards, excepting for that.
And the credit card (black) gives good miles and is easy to manage online. Shame AMEX simply isn't accepted very often!
A 7 hour flight can never really be comfortable but as a frequent traveler I can say that Virgin has been the best experience I have had.
from boarding to holidaying virgin did care and gave us a service prehaps better than their slogan Treated like a Rock Star, as we have used other airlines especially package ones who dont really care about their customers after they take your money and give you a service which is 3rd rate. So I will always use Virgin on long haul in future and hope they dont strike in the summer as this will damage their excellent reputation as another company has tried and failed..
We booked with Virgin to fly to Orlando. We were going on a transatlantic cruise with Disney tours for 14 days.
Anyway, we booked because we thought we would have more comfort &better service on the 8 odd hour flight.
What we got was mediocre service at best. They seemed to forget us when handing out the welcome packs, flight socks & in flight headphones, even though we paid for all this in the price.
Maybe it was just our bad luck, but I didn't like the service & they didn't seem overly freindly either.
The plane was also no more comfortable than any other plane.
Maybe I'm just being unfair, but at the end of the day, I don't feel it was worth the extra premium over the likes of Easyjet. Next time, I'll be saving my money & just booking with them.
I try to use Virgin Atlantic as I have a lot of airmiles with them but they seem to be a bit sloppy with their services lately. Also the loyalty points are not as easy to use as one would like.!
Flying with virgin was a passable experience. I guess if you want top dollar you have to part with your cash but the seat I was in had crisps mashed into the fabric and smelled funny.
Food was ok.
Recommend without hesitation - good service, pleasant helpful staff, smooth booking and onto and off flight and to hotel and return flight. Shame the food on board is absolutely dreadful. Have flown to San Francisco and back, Barbados and back, and all the food has been terrible
We have used Virgin for our FLorida flights quite a few times - using air miles collected through Amex and then xferring them to Virgin.
Problem we've had this past 3 or 4 flights is the attitude of the Virgin crew on the plane has been really poor. Sure they smile when it suits them but there has been an air of everything is too much trouble recently - rolling eyes, sighs, just general body language that indicates they would just rather sit down and read their mags in between the times they throw meals at you.
We tend to travel with their Premium service (not Upper but better than Economy) and you tend to pay £500/£600 more per person per flight - so a family of 4 it racks up. For that money I expect a courteous service at all times.
We try and avoid them from now on. We have had better cabin crew service from BMI and even BA to be honest. Shame really, used to like Virgin at first.
Saying that - going to Dubai with them this year in Upper Class so we will see - again - not by choice - just the only ones that flew there on the dates we had where we could use our airmiles to reduce the cost.
I am sure no airline is perfect all the time, but Virgin did make my last trip at least the best I could expect. Pleasent, clean, good service and food more than acceptable.
Sadly they have now reduced their luggage quota which means my next trip (which is already booked) means I have to pay extra for my families luggage - which will not be cheap seeing we will have a 3 month old with us.
I have been flying an average of 80,000 miles for the last 55 years. OK I'm no spring chicken. When I started flying there were planes with spiral staircases leading down to a bar/lounge. That soon disappeared and then we started seeing airlines reduce everything from legroom, seat width all the way to a reduction of fresh AIR (to save on fuel costs). Travel became miserable until the arrival of Virgin Atlantic. They instituted practices and policies as well as new entertainment systems that make it a a pleasure to fly again. This airline is always way ahead of other airlines.
Oh yes some airlines offer power for a laptop but who apart from Virgin also offers Internet service.
It is off course hardly surprising as Virgin are constantly looking at how to improve the customer experience as opposed to how to save money.
To date I have enjoyed 100% of my Virgin Atlantic flights, a statistic only equalled by the now defunct BOAC.
I flew first class to Dubai with Virgin and was extremely disappointed with their service. Although the airport lounge was great they cram too many people onto the plane. We were on the plane for many hours and looked forward to being able to lie down and get some sleep but, the beds were so hard and uncomfortable and because people were walking up and down they kept bumping into our feet. The style of the seat is ridiculous as your feel are aimed at the walkways. The bar area was next to the seats and people standing drinking there made it impossible for anyone to rest. The meal, when it was served was late and very protracted.
How could Virgin get it so wrong? The whole placement and designs of seats are wrong they should check out BA who manage to give their customers both comfort and privacy.
I will never travel Virgin again, unless they have a radical rethink. It's very expensive to travel first class but, that doesn't worry me if they give me comfort and service.
May I also add that in their first class lounge there were many services on offer from manicure to hairdressing but unless you were warned to book these immediately the appointments were filled up. Nobody bothered to tell us this so we were extremely disappointed.
FLIGHT TO AMERICA ~ DIRTY PLANE NOT CLEAN, POCKETS FULL OF PREVIOUS FLIGHTS RUBBISH.
SCREEN DIDNT WORK "SORRY WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING" EVERY THING WAS A CHORE TO THE STEWARDESS. WILL NOT USE THIS AIRLINE AGAIN. I BOOKED AND PAID EXTRA FOR VIRGIN BASED ON A PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE SOME YEARS AGO. VERY DISSAPPOINTED.
I have to admit to a feeling of admiration for the things Mr. Branson has done and nothing showcases the Virgin brand more than Virgin Atlantic. To me it's the Orient Express of the air with caring, helpful staff and a flying experience that leaves you wanting more.
we travel often to usa, we would not even consider another carrier. used Virgin as part of a round world trip - wow what a package
The whole Virgin Atlantic experience is second to none. The flight left on time, has the best inflight entertainment and friendliest of staff! It's Virgin all the way for me!
Seats a bit taddy and in the inflight entertainment is well past its sell by date.
I expected more for the money we spent on a ticket.
Would be 5 stars but the inflight entertainment failed on boith trips. On a long haul it is critical to get that right
Very good service, very personal I have booked another holiday using Virgin without even considering a competitor
Great flights from Manchester to Orlando. Cabin crew were fab. Food acceptable. Looking forward to flying again on the new planes at some point in the future.
I will always fly with Virgin atlantic. I can rely on them to be in business, to never be on strike action and am very happy with the service i have recieved from Virgin Holidays and Virgon Atlantic
our connecting flight from Myrtle Beach to Newark, NJ was delayed due to a Tropical Storm in NY. We had checked-in to our Ldn bound flight in MB. When we eventually got to Newark , the Ldn flight had departed. We had to sleep on Terminal floor, then call London to get on next flight, which we had to pay an additional £200 to get on, because we were classified as 'no shows', in spite of chking in & the Tropical storm closing Newark. 3 other travellers in our group, who were on same flight, booked through Continental, were put up in a Hotel o/n & put on the next flight home at no extra charge. Have not flown with Virgin since.
hey guys love virgin was not the best flight i took. did not give me my veg meal, however, they did get me some fruit and things
Virgin Atlantic makes everything so easy for us. They were especially helpful when my father had a heart attack and they got me into Upper Class on a Saturday morning in the height of holiday season. He died a week later and they were very flexible with my return travel plans to the UK so that I could do the work on his estate before leaving the US. They also refunded half of my and my husband's airfares because of the situation and they did not have a refund policy for this. the fact that they gave back 1700 pounds when we couldn't even have a set schedule was impressive and I will always travel with them when I can.
Flight was delayed departing Gatwick then when we got to Orlando we had to wait on the plane for ages as another VA had just landed in front and the emigration dept told the staff that the area was too full.
Flight from Orlando was very late in departing. Staff rushed around to try and get there work done as quick as possible but this became annoying as food and drinks were a mess..
From selecting my flight, using the website to actually flying... i couldnt fault Virgin. The cabin crew were very helpful and friendly. I wouldnt hesitate flying with them again, or recommending them.
We travelled first class from London to San Fransisco and had the most pleasant flying experience of our lives. If only air travel could always be that way! Great staff, stunning lounge at Heathrow, treated really well and the whole experience was stress free. Small niggle in that the cost of the limo service is on the steep side so getting to and from the airport was something we arranged ourselves.
