I would recommend Virgin Active clubs for the quality of the clubs I've visited so far. Structures are very tidy and brand new, clean and (talking about the Cricklewood one) not so busy during the days. In my personal opinion the best clubs in UK.
Having paid in advance for a one year membership they have tried to take monthly subscriptions on three occasions. Every time you speak to reception they check and confirm nothing is owed yet you then receive letters saying payments are overdue.
Only one week after being told all was sorted with head office I then found they had cancelled my membership. My card denied me access when I still had two months to run and after weeks of hassle I have decided that they are not worth the trouble and I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Reception blames head office for the mix ups but it is the staff at the Bristol club that seem to be to blame. I emailed complaint to the manager which apart from the automated response was ignored. The person that told me everything was sorted out and that she was sending letter confirming this never sent the promised letter and has been in a meeting and unavailable for three weeks now!
Judging by other reviews on The Review Centre where they only average 1.45 stars I see there are lots of members getting similar problems especially when you attempt to leave!
