really speedy delivery and delivery driver very good and helpful though he had forgotten to put the free stain on the lorry but advised me he would be in the area within a week and would deliver it then. unfortunately I am still waiting for it!
I purchased fence panels from Waltons, they gave me a firm delivery date and met all expectations. a trouble free transaction.
The product was reasonably priced however the service was poor. They told me that they would deliver the product on a designated day; they didn't turn up, solution? "Make a complaint sir!" Said in the style of a person that doesn't give a toss.
Product eventually arrives via a single crewed delivery driver. He looks at me, as if to say, 'are you going to help then'? The pallet was so heavy it was hardly a two man lift! The delivery drivers response to my concerns? "Delivery is free int it"!
He then gets me to sign and then walks away without even the hint of a thank you or a goodbye, which left me to ponder that, if you pay peanuts, you get monkey's!
I ordered new fence panels and they arrived as agreed, with fixing clips that were added free. I haven't installed them yet
The delivery driver was very helpful and gave the impression of a very professional company
I haven't used the company before but I will check them out first when looking for any additional items as I am renovating a house
Viewed several websites and plumped for Waltons based on both product choice and price. Online ordering process was very straight forward and delivery dates were known before committing the order. Waltons actually contacted us to ask if we could take delivery sooner which we could, real bonus.
Delivery arrived as planned and the driver placed the various panels, posts and fixing where requested.
Construction was straightforward with good instructions and all parts were present and undamaged.
Really pleased with the final product, good quality and well designed to give rigidity and confidence that it will last.
I ordered a fence panel online and requested an afternoon delivery as I was going to be out in the morning. Got a phone call from the delivery driver to let me know the approximate time that he was going to deliver. This is such a help as I could make sure that I was at home.
Bought from Waltons again as good quality and service. Managed to get it up in a weekend - 1 day for ground prep, 1 for erection. Only problem we encountered was some of the door frame strips were missing so we improvised rather than downing tools and waiting for this to be delivered. Think this could be avoided in future by a delivery note with a basic list of what should have been delivered so you can quickly tick off before the delivery driver disappears - you currently don't get a chance to do this.
I found the description on the website good with a couple of reservations. I could not find anywhere locally to view any metal sheds. The thickness of the metal was not mentioned anywhere in the sales literature. The size of a suggested base should be mentioned before the shed is delivered so correct preparation can be achieved.
I have now erected this shed on my own with just a little assistance for about five bolts in the side walls. Instructions were good, marking of parts was good.
I think the finished is a good storage facility. I think it might prove to be a little flimsy if it were to be used on a regular basis, especially the sliding doors. Time will tell
The item was arranged to be delivered on 15th November. On 11th November, Walton's called and asked if it could deliver on 12th November but this was not convenient. On 14th November Walton's phoned to say the item was out of stock. It has still not been delivered. Very disappointing.
Had ordered new panels from Wickes who offered good price but delivery charge was hidden until checkout. So when e-mail from Waltons advertising very free delivery and a good price I cancelled Wickes order and ordered from Waltons. Panels were same as any else so good value.
...no, no I insist. I'm paying for this 0845 telephone call I've had to call to get your customer service so please let me speak, or at least come right out and tell me that not only have I paid over the top for a shed I have to pay over the top for poor customer service.
In the end I think I got screwed as much as the shed.
The only reason I cant give 5 stars is that the instructions could have been clearer. This may not have been a problem though to a more experienced DIYer. But the company themselves cant fault. Would definitely recommend.
i wanted to buy a portabase and so rang waltons to buy one over the phone and they said I needed to write an email and so cant buy it on the phone. I thought this was bad. what if u do not have an email address. I would not recommend their service to anyone else.
For the price, an excellent shed.
Recieved promptly, but over 2 days deliveries, due to bulk and lengths of components.
The main panels arrive in one box, which weighed so much, that 2 of us could only drop it onto the kerb, where it had to be unpacked to move it further! (VERY HEAVY!!)
Drawings fairly easy to follow, but also recommend seeing u tube videos via link on waltons website. Also recommend the snow brace kit to make whole shed stronger.
Took me a FULL day to assemble all the panels, and 2 of us a FULL day to put the shed together. Would have been easier if we had 3 people, particularly when assembling the first 3 sides, as the panels are very floppy on thier own.
BEWARE. DO NOT ASSEMBLE WHEN WINDY!!!!
Only dissapointments were; main ridge beam had become disconnected from lower channel in transit, but was remedied with pop rivets, and the main screws were a bit short for my liking, particularly in corners. Not everything lined up perfectly !. But now have a good strong shed, particularly as i bought the snow brace kit. (which is a strengthening frame for mid shed sides and roof.Recommended!)
Within 48 hours Walton's had called me to arrange the date of delivery ... Tuesday agreed. I receive a call on the Friday before the agreed delivery ... "i'm here in Glasgow to deliver your shed" ... "What, it's not due until Tuesday!" We are both at work so not available to take the delivery.
I re-arrange the delivery for the following Tuesday ... this time it is delivered on a Thursday!
Very annoying ....
Just to set the scene, I write technical manuals for a living, have put together more Ikea furniture than I can remember and am no slouch when it comes to DIY. That said, unless you have an engineering background, or never gave up on playing with Meccano sets, or are just a glutton for punishment, don't do this yourself!! The illustration that suggests it takes two people six hours is a joke - unless regularly assembling these sheds is your daytime job. I would strongly recommend getting experts in.
The instructions use the sole premise that "a picture paints a thousand words). Granted, you can get away with that some of the time but elsewhere, it is extremely difficult to work what you are supposed to do. On a plus note, the inventory and diagrams at the beginning were excellent, without them I could not have finished the task inside a week!
I would like to say the build quality is good, but I can't! I had to use such force to align holes in badly fitting panels that one corner actually started to tear. A lot of the holes had not even been punched all the way through and required drilling. I have so many screws left that I had to check the instructions three times to make sure I hadn't missed out some pages.
To improve the finish, I drilled a lot of extra holes and used some of these spare screws to improve the fit of the panels. I had to use a can of expanding builder's foam for the gaps in the side panels and two cartridges of clear bath sealant for the gaps in the roof panels. For safety, I fitted pipe insulation foam over the roof struts because they were such a bad fit that I would have eventually cut my head open. So far I have hit my head on the low door frame four times. I know, I should have learned by the second time but ... It would be ok if I was only 5 feet tall.
In summary, you get what you pay for and compared to a wooden equivalent, it is almost half the price. If you are looking for a secure shed, keep looking. This shed will require additional braces for the doors (if you fell against it, it would cave in) and invest in some rivets for the panels, once it is finished.
I was disappointed that the so called solid base and roof panels were not so. they are what is known as straw board and very weak if they get wet. When I screwed the short batons to the under side of the two base panels the recommended 50 mm srews were far to long. On trying to turn the base over the crappy flooring just fell to bits. I had to fix the floor in the end with decent three quarter inch plywood. May have to do the same with the roof. Oh well .....we live and learn.Buy cheap and you will get cheap. I will probably have to buy some decent roofing felt also as the stuff you sent I would not use on a rabbit hutch.
Will NOT be buying from you again.
Difficult to write about a purchase that went without a hitch. Everything Walton's did was top class. Delivery and contacting by phone.
Price and quality of fence panels means I will return after the next storm hits blighty. Mark
I only needed 4 fence panels, however, still received free delivery. The panels themselves are well made and were very reasonably priced. All in all, a good retail experience.
Ordered 5 fence panels advised delivery date - waited for arrival on said day and recieved phone call from delivery driver advising arrival in 10 mins. Arrived within specified time and unloaded goods stacked as directed at side of house.
Excellent service all round highly recommend !!!!
I ordered only 2 fence panels on line I got a phone call back to tell me they were out of stock,a few days later another call to tell me they were on stock, arranged a delivery which came on time, the driver put them whereI wanted them,
great service .
Only problem is one of the protection blocks on a side panel was missing which resulted in damage to the bottom board. Not major, not even worth a complaint. Apart from and including that, very satisfied.
No more to add
I bough the shed online without viewing it. The price is cheap but the frame is built with 28x28 mm timber. The roof has no frame. It is supported by a single flimsy timber at the apex. I spent extra £75 to buy extra timber to reinforce the whole shed.
We waited in all day Friday for the shed but it didn't turn up until Saturday morning.
The driver phoned to say he would be here in15 minutes and he was.
He was very friendly and put the shed where we asked him to.
Yes we would recommend Walton Garden Buildings.
