Disappointing Experience
I recently purchased a Cartier Tank Watch, which was advertised as being four years' old, wiith paperwork. When the watch arrived, the Cartier Certificate showed a series number for a watch crossed through, with the serial number of the watch I had received written in alongside. The date was 8.8.05. As I purchased the watch just prior to this I guess to call it 4 years old was ok. However, I am told that Cartier would consider any warrantee invalid, as the serial number had been changed, mindful that it was out of guarantee. I did feel that this left a question mark about the actual age of the watch due to the change of serial numbers on the certificate. Under the circumstances, Watchfind asked for the watch to be returned so that a Cartier "authority" could inspect it and possibly verify when it was manufactuered, rather than when it was originally purchased. The postage for the return was quite rightly reimbursed, as was the monies I had paid for the watch. Within a day of the watch being returned, it appeared on the website again, and as of today, is still there, product 8868, showing a date of 8.8.05. I have not been contacted by Watchfinder in respect of its age and the paperwork issued to me, assuming it has been certified by the Cartier "authority". This was a very disappointing experience, as the watch had been intended for a special birthday.
