I spent about 40 hours designing a website in the WIX editor, which looks great and within a few weeks increased my business immensely. But after two months I want to make changes to reflect my growing business. I am locked out of my account, locked out of logging in, locked out of asking questions. Completely locked out. No customer service!!! I am stopping the service immediately and moving on, will pay to have a website designed in html that I OWN.
well i'm really upset that i have spent so much time with picking a template and arranging it to my own taste, ONLY to find that when i want to add any type of post, i actually have to go into the EDIT WEB SITE area. the whole thing can be thrown off if i'm not careful and i touch onto any of the elements. there is NO way to add a post in a NORMAL way. such as NOT editing the whole web site / blog!. so i can't advise anyone to waste time and money on wix.
I want to add that i've read some of the other reviews and most people who give it a high rating are only doing so from a building stance.NOT a using stance. it wasn't hard to build and change my site. It is just IMPOSSIBLE to post blog content without going into the EDIT WEBSITE area. which is just wrong for bloggers and anyone that doesn't want to worry about dis-arranging their site's elements and structure.
I have a two websites with wix and it is pretty easy and professional looking. The only problem i have is how much wasted advertising space i could use but the format isnt the same on every computer. The mobile format is not as good as the actual website so i dont use it at all. My font gets thrown evrywhere and just looks awful. But other than that its fine.
I can definitely see the frustration & negative feedback here :\ But as one of the reviewers said - people ONLY seem to comment when they have something to complain about. I have BUILT easily over 50 sites using the WIX Platform, NOT because it's FREE & NOT because I can't code - But for the simple fact that my CLIENTS can easily manage, change, update, & maintain their own sites without having the tech-knowledge typically needed to have a nice, functional & multi-platform website. I design, build, & hand-over WIX sites to my clients on a weekly basis. As with anything, there will ALWAYS be room for improvement, as for the recent outage....YA that was BAD, but again these things happen...(SOMETIMES) The ONLY thing I can complain about is the recent "call-you-back" issue with the tech-support. I never said anything about it because it is clear that they have grown faster than anticipated & will simply catch-up with more support staff. I manage to deal with it for now & in exchange when they do call me back, I have always had AMAZING support/help from them. So friends, I not only endorse them....I make a living using the WIX platform. (http://www.screenpimps.com/#!wix-website-design/c24yo) Hope the minor issues get resolved soon & everyone gets the same level of support & service that helped me make the best of this platform.
PS: The e-commerce sites are also very easy to use/create.
Wix is just a nightmare. I had been through enough and wanted my business site transferred away and called the number. They scheduled a call FOUR days later, then never called. Same CANNED b.s. responses after that... email this address to get another call, it takes all 7 days to get a transfer put through and there is no way around that (funny godaddy did it within 24 hours), and if you will pay more to do this that and the other you can get what you need. lol These idiots have cost me literally thousands. Do NOT use wix and ever hope to get any service, quality, or help EVER. FYI, godaddy has a great system so you do not have to sit on hold and they called me back within 20 minutes, ON A SUNDAY! Wix is not even available by phone on weekends.
I just wanted a simple do-it-yourself web site to show off something I built. Wix will let you design your own site but forget about getting it up on the internet where anyone can find it unless you pay. Support for any questions you might have SUCKS! You'd be far better off taking classes in computer coding and learn to build your own. Given the other reviews I've read here I'm very happy I wasn't using it for a business web site. Go to Tizag and learn to build your own, you'll be a lot happier with the results.
In 4 weeks I have has to rebuild my site 5 tines from scratch. The sites are always buggy which tech support will eventually tell you over the phone about the 5th or 6th time you call and they waste your time telling you to uninstall and then reinstall browsers, clean cache, disable this and that etc... Then they will tell you they are going to work on it but it will be faster to start over. They you do, several times, until you finally get a working site, only to find the Editor tool is constantly down so you cant work on your pages. A nightmare!!!!
In trying to post this message, WIX could not get passed the "Post Reply" button. I guess it is just time to move on. Unlike others, I do not have the time to sit around 4 hours at a time trying to figure this out and figure that out. I really don't care what the issue is. They have my money for something I was supposed to have and it is obvious I don't. I'm sure all y'all are pulling your hair out. My only suggestion - move on and file a complaint with any place that will listen to you.
I would have given only 1 star, but they were never rude to me. However, one could say, since they took my money and ran - that would be pretty rude. So yeah, now that I think about it, I am giving them one star.
Here's what I tried to write: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really need some honest answers here. I am not like all the other complaints where they are losing money daily because of the downtime they are experiencing. I use wix every now and then, but every single time I try to do something, I get nothing but issues in any web browser I use. Yes I have done all the things WIX tells me to do as well as try things I read posted all over the net.
What I need is a simple answer - Yes or No - Are you the place to go to host a site?
Just answer the question - one simple answer. Should you answer No, then I know what I need to do. I'm not going to hang around and post frustrated comments all around the world about you. If you say No, then at least "I" know that you are still not ready as the go to place for simple website creation.
However, should you say Yes, then I would expect nothing but smooth sailing to get the job "I" need to get done, done.
So please tell - me, what is the answer??? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R.A.T. (Revolution Against Technology. Not that I am totally against it. I'm just against technology that tries to make it look like they are technological. For example: You go into a grocery store to buy a bag of spinach for 99 cents. You get to the checkout and they can't find SKU #4039. 3 managers later and they override the system. Whatever happened to entering in 99 cents and pressing the button for Produce??? Again, too much technology for something too simple.
I cannot believe that my website is now not loading at all and I am losing customers and sales. There is no customer service on Sundays. Must be inconvenient to pay some customer service representatives in the case where they have security problems. They are not helping customers. I would absolutely not recommend WIX to anyone.
I am very frustrated with wix.com. They host a site for me and I purchased an email address for $4+ every month. I had the email from this address forwarded to another account so was not using it regularly and forgot the password. It is now impossible for me to access the email on my wix.com site and equally impossible to set up a new email account. Since their email management is through Google, they said I have to resolve my missing password through Google. I tried to do so but Google could not verify that I own the domain. What a nightmare! And I have already printed the new email I was planning to set up on postcards and business cards for an event which takes place in 4 days time. Hopefully, I will resolve this issue but if I do not - I am definitely removing my site from wix. Not being able to access email because of a forgotten password is insane.
With many site builders, when there's an issue you can call tech support an get a live technician on the phone to discuss any issues you may be having. With WIX you have to call in and schedule a call-back from support which doesn't always work to your schedule... many calls are missed because of this.
Let's face it, WIX has been down for days now with no signs of getting back up anytime soon. If you read any replies from the WIX team, they all read, "sorry for your inconvenience", or "please contact support so we can see help you with your firewall or browser's history".
First of all, if you are unable to log into WIX, you are unable to email their support unless you have their direct email in which case that's useless as well. What are we going to do, sit around and email each other back and forth only to come to the obvious conclusion that it is WIX that is broken, not everyone else's computers in the world who are experiencing the same exact problems?
People are losing customers, sales, and online exposure due to the incompetence of WIX's technicians. I have 3 website through WIX and as of right now I am unable to do anything with them... totally useless. I hope that many, many people read this as a warning and learn from my mistake by going to WIX. There are far too many other site builders out there that are actually working at a professional level, no sense in wasting your time with one that will take your money and not produce results.
I'm really surprised by all the bad reviews here, I guess you tend to write them when you are unhappy not happy. OK, you can't phone them but their support departments have always got back pretty quickly when there's a problem - often within the hour - and they have always been generous with their time. The system itself is far better than most out there and has only gone down on me once - today strangely enough. For newbies to the market, I would say give them a go, I have done over 50 websites using them and I rate them high.
The only nice thing I have to say is that they have some very nice templates that are easy to customize, edit and publish. But there are SERIOUS support issues.
If you run into any problems or have any questions about your account, you have to SCHEDULE a call, and you're lucky to get an appointment for the next day. I tried this both times, and both times I received an e-mail saying, "We tried to call you but couldn't reach you." My phone never rang.
The online support is even worse. You're lucky to get an intelligent response from anyone there. You have to post your question -- be careful not to make it a publicly viewable question! -- and wait a few hours or days for someone to respond with text copied and pasted from the "knowledgebase."
Forget about live chat support. It doesn't exist.
The last straw for me was that the "free" $50 voucher for Facebook Ads cost me $28. Neither Wix nor FB mentioned that it was an invalid voucher until AFTER they deducted the $28 from my PayPal account.
There are plenty of other companies with great looking templates that are easily customizable and whose prices are competitive or better than Wix. Try Weebly instead, which is great in all respects, but especially in support. Stay away from Wix!
I would absolutely not recommend wix to anyone looking to have a professional website that runs properly... it feels like you are constantly having to work around bugs, shitty programming and poor customer service. To say that the customer support is bad is an understatement. When you post a thread, 9 times out of 10 the response is directly copy / pasted from the public help sections, never a live person who actually takes the time to read your topic.
I've used wix for 3 years and to be straightforward, I was too broke for something better. After I wasn't cheap anymore, transferring my domain away was a TRAIN WRECK. The employees behind wix are brain dead and can't figure out how to approve a simple transfer request, something that ALL other hosts have done in minutes. Ridiculous.
I can't yell any louder to AVOID THIS COMPANY! Find somewhere, ANYWHERE else! The customer support is horrible, the sites you build never function properly, the mobile customization is a huge joke, and you can never depend on your site looking the same between browsers. This is a bad, bad company.
Not being compatible with screen readers is a stumbling block with many of my clients. From a business perspective they want as many people has possible to have access to their businesses. From a legal perspective they do not want to get sued for not conforming to regulations. If Wix develops this feature I would give it five stars and recommend it to everyone, but as of this moment I cannot.
Very pleased with my website, it is totally free and does exactly what I need. Im not great at technology and have basic IT finesse and I found it fine. Only reason it took me so long was because I was messing around with designs and colour combinations! Im very happy with it its well laid out and easy to edit the info and add pictures and links. I found it quite user friendly once I had a good look at all the options etc :D Take a look- http://rmtaylor1981.wix.com/rachaelsreps
I have developed a number of sites using Wix.com. For most part and specially when it is a site leaning towards rich visual media content (galleries, videos, music, etc) it is easy to use, gives you a lot of options and with some creative input from yourself you can have a world class site up and running in a couple of days. I find the SEO working fine and I have high rankings on Google, it takes time but you also have to play the game and optimize your presence on the web through reviews, social media, etc. Wix is not a magic silver bullet, you still have to do some work.
