wix sucks

many errors, bad support, generating pure and unprofessional code.. tried to get support for few weeks until i understand its impossible and decided to push and get refund.. no phone or email support.. just a big forum you suppose to find answers in, no personal support, every-time you post someone else answers...

Bad experience

I upgraded to premium in July 2012. I quickly realized that there ecommerce package was not going to be what I needed so I canceled and developed my site on Wordpress. I almost never check my bank statements because I don't use automatic payments and deal mostly in cash. I just happened to check my bank account last night (Jan 3 2012) and noticed a charge that I did not recognize. After some investigation I realized that these were Wix charges. The supervisor refused to credit my card the full 6 months, but did credit January. I understand that there are people in this world that will try and cheat and they have no way of knowing that I am not one of those people. I asked them to check their member log in logs and they could see that I had not logged in since July. Nope, wouldn't do it. I asked them to view my website that is on Wordpress (the same domain that was upgraded to premium) to prove that I am, and haven't been, using their service. Nope, didn't matter. I asked them why they don't implement consumer protection by simple sending an auto email each month when a card is charged. The agent said they did. But, they absolutely do not. Not one email was received regarding charges, nor was an email received when they increased the charge from 15.90 to 19.90. I understand that this practice is used by other companies. It's goal? MONEY. They count on people like me that don't pay attention to their bank account. Totally my fault but you would think that they would care about their reputation. If you decide to use Wix, and later cancel be SURE to watch your bank statements for a few months. Oh and, forget about using Wix for an ecommerce site. Wordpress is the only way to go!

Bad Bad Bad choice

The website creation is easy. The problems with their editor after publishing far, far out weighs ANY benefit. Slow response to problems sent to Wix, mostly irrelevent response repeated by a different person each day until they simply don't bother to reply at all.

Bad Customer service and slow software

In the beginning your product somewhat worked. In the beginning your customer service was fair. Now? I will not use this product. I will stick to my trusty old Dreamweaver, iWeb, html editor or something else that is not Wix. I have tried numerous times to get customer service for my issues, gave up and then tried to contact someone in customer service to cancel. Now? Even trying to do that has been a ridiculous chore. Sorry guys, but you really need to get it together.

Creativity without limit

I like Wix Flash builder and HTML 5 builder because I can be as creative as I like with no limits. Many of my clients insist on having their websites built with Wix for ease in updating, and the fact that they can choose between monthly and yearly payments.

It's a reliable and trusted solution for businesses who don't have a large budget for their website needs -- after all, EVERYBODY needs a website.

I've read some negative opinions here. I admit Wix can be too complex for some. However, in my experience, those problems usually arise when someone wants an impractical function -- something you wouldn't try on any other website if it were being built on another platform.

Those who want more from their Wix site, always have an option of hiring a Wix Pro to give their website a polished and professional look at an affordable price.

Wix's is great !

We have had our website with WIX for 2 years, with no problems, have had such a good experience with them that we suggested them to another company who is now also using them, with no complains. We do wish they had 24/7 customer service, but are glad their customer service is in the U.S.A.
You can make a wonderful looking website with WIX with no HTML knownledge at all.

Wix is on the slide to oblivion

I noted the review before this one as I came to post and can confer the support at Wix is almost arrogant in responses. The Wix HTML has more bugs than the Amazon yet the support desk tries to put the issues on to various external areas like 'your' browser settings, 'your' choice of font, 'your' layout, which are all 'their' issues not yours; 'they' give you the fonts, it is within 'their' layout, and unless your a billionaire your hardly using your 'own' browser system!

If you are looking to use Wix for something simple, a website about your wedding day for example. then great but if it something more complex or for business I will categorically state : Avoid. This is a company who has either become fat and lazy or has over-expanded, Whichever it is the software is exceptionally frustrating, does not work with the latest Internet Explorer (yep you have read this right) does not appear on latest releases of IE and despite how it looks in the site builder what you get in a browser not only varies but can be completely different.

When I started using Wix over 2 years ago it was great, cheap enough to accept niggles without getting annoyed. It is now expensive in comparison to the market and they are so obsessed with getting 'more features' many which work dysfunctionally, if at all, that they lost sight of the core, a robust webcode,

We are stuck with one site of Wix (www,no-mans-land.me) as it too big to move, although it may look OK it is a frustrating time changing and updating. Our other main site www.platform-7.com will be migrating elsewhere in the coming months and all subsidiary artist sites that are on Wix are being wound down once the paid period is over. I hope we do not have issues of them trying to extract cash from us afterwards, as some reviews on the internet appear to indicate.

I considered seriously reporting WIx to the UK Advertising Standards Authority for some of their ad claims and what they state their 'system' can do. I decided I have wasted enough time on this company and will leave some reviews instead and let people decide for themselves. I am confident though that unless Wix pull their finger out and overhaul their approach it will not last a further 3 years.

Good service even when closing account

I decided to close my account with Wix but before I did that they charged my credit card for one more year of premium account.
I contacted Wix support and in a few days I had my money returned.

Do not use

Have been waiting 7 days to transfer my domain name from wix. According to their site and customer service, you should have the transfer code within the same day you request it. They register their domains thru network solutions and you have no control over getting to your domain. Either they don't want you to take your business away or have some problem communicating with NS.

They are sent to the email that the domain is registered to, which is not necessarily the same email you used to log in to Wix. You can find out which email address you registered your domain with by using a Whois search for your domain. (who.is, whois.net, whois.com)

Good when they're good. Bad when they're bad.

When Wix.com's editor is working, the Wix servers are a great place to have your website hosted.

But it is a pain to try to get any help when things go wrong in the inner workings of the editor. And -- I've discovered -- they can go VERY wrong.

Then you jump through hoops to get your problem "posted" and begin waiting to be notified. (I've been waiting for days on my last issue. No response yet.) The waiting is time I do not have.

VERY BAD website service

I can see many people raving about wix and saying how great it is to have a free website etc and whilst it may look great at first, it is really awful.

I must say that I am very disappointed with Wix for the following reasons:

1. Once a website has been designed (and the designing is probably the only good thing about Wix) the website DOES NOT LOAD PROPERLY on some computers and particularly on ipads and iphones. You must design an extra mobile site for these to be viewable on those. Otherwise your PICTURES AND WRITING COULD BE IN THE WRONG ORDER, misplaced or just completely MESSED UP and not at all like how you designed it.
I designed mine on a mac and it was perfect but when I looked on a windows computer, the writing had changed order and the website looked like a child of 5 had designed it.

2. WIX WEBSITES TAKE A LONG TIME TO LOAD despite having a very fast broadband connection. I noticed this myself and friends have told me that my websites has taken OVER A MINUTE TO LOAD on a fast broadband connection. This is very bad for a professional website because if you are dealing with customers, they will probably think your website is not working and go on to your competitor. Some of my friends actually did think my website was not working when trying to view it.
WEBSITES SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LONG TO LOAD

3. Is the website free? Yes, but only if you keep the wix address which is VERY UNLIKELY TO APPEAR IN GOOGLE SEARCHES and you do not mind having a very unprofessional WIX ADVERT AT THE BOTTOM AND TOP OF THE WEBSITE which will make your website look like it has some kind of virus attached to it.
Otherwise YOU MUST PAY QUITE A BIT OF MONEY MONTHLY OR YEARLY. On their website they display a lovely table with all the different plans and prices which makes you think you're getting a reasonable deal but THE PRICES DO NOT INCLUDE VAT WHICH IS ADDED ON AT THE FINAL BILL and the table leads you to believe that you get a free domain address under the monthly payments scheme with little ticks under all the benefits you get - BUT YOU DO NOT GET A FREE WEBSITE DOMAIN WITH MONTHLY PAYMENTS - ONLY IF YOU PAY YEARLY.
So before you have even started, Wix has already tricked you several times.

4. If you have a problem with designing your website or any other aspect of your website, YOU CAN ONLY CONTACT WIX ON A FORUM - THERE IS NO DIRECT CONTACT FOR SUPPORT.
YOU CAN ONLY USE THE FORUM IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR WEBSITE
Once you have posted your problem, you must then wait for a reply on the forum. I posted my problem 6 days ago and my problem is still not fixed. I thought that perhaps the support team had forgotten my case after days of not getting a reply, so I reposted my question asking them to deal with it and got an email just saying "Please refrain from putting multiple posts on the forum" - I put one extra post on the forum (not multiple) and just because I wanted an update on my problem. It is not possible to know if your problem is being fixed, you just have to wait.

5. DESIGNING WEBSITE CAN BE FRUSTRATING - Although the idea behind Wix is good and it is good to have a place to create a website by dragging and adding things, it can sometimes be frustrating because you try to move things and they won't go where you want them to, you only seem to be allowed one font for the entire website - It does not seem possible to change it within the same text box or on different pages (If I am wrong then it is not obvious how to do it) and you get a help box that you have to close every single time after completing an action and you cannot stop that - so every time you try to write something or change the position of something, the box appears getting in the way of your work.

All in all, I have very unhappy with WIX and am regretting putting in so much work to make the website and to think that I am paying for this awful service. I will just take my website to another provider.
IF YOU WANT A GREAT WEBSITE FORGET WIX - USE ANOTHER PROVIDER!!!

I had been waiting on a company like Wix since 2000.... I been with them for 5 to 6 years many a little longer... as they grow, I grow ... Wix gave me a chance to shine and to help other shine .... I use to have to work with dreamweaver and other time consuming sites ... Before Wix the projects I use to do, that took 6mos... I complete in less than 24 hours ... because Wix is very user friendly ... Thank you Wix you are awesome

BRAIN DEAD SUPPORT bit nice website building options.

I like the options and results but support is lacking. I tried chat thinking that it would be less time on hold if I called (I have yet to get a real person when I called) or less time waiting for an email reply and the seemingly endless back-and-forth banter. Chat was no better than email except you do not have t wait so long for a reply (but the replies DO take awhile). Just like when you e-mail, the replies do not address the issue usually- You state your issue and include every scrap of information you ca,n and they ask you the exact same thing over again SEVERAL TIMES, like they never read your message you sent or the subsequent replies. BRAIN DEAD!!!!!! I think they need to drug test the support people they hire more often or something.

Really Bad Experience

I had a really bad experience. The tool seemed like a great tool for developing an awesome business page for Facebook. However, after I finished developing my Facebook business page which took a couple of hours I tried to publish my page to Facebook. I could never get it to work. I have since tried dozens of times which has taken hours of my time. I sent them an email but never heard back. I am convinced that they either have a bad product, have bad customer service or are simply out of business.

Yes yes yes!!!!!

I'm a musician who looked for a easy but effective way to build a cool looking website without any professional help from an expensive website designer or anything like that. I built my website at wix.com and decided to buy a premium account to get my own domain. EVERYTHING JUST WORKS PERFECT FROM THE FIRST DAY I UPGRADED. I've had my website for about a year now and everything just works! I can edit my website wherever I am and it doesn't even have to be my own computer.
It's so nice that Wix offers the all-in-one package. Website designer, domain, and a web hotel/server to publish your site on. It may cost a little bit more than if you do everything yourself. But if you want something that just works EVERYTIME, Wix is the right choice for you.

So simple and easy, wow!

My mother needed a website for her business and after trying to understand HTML coding, Photoshop and Dreamweaver, finally I found Wix. The easiest thing ever to build. Templates are awesome and all I had to do was plug in my text and media, seriously, that's all!

The other thing, and for me most important, is her website is found in Google. Her name, the book she wrote and one other keywords all rank on the first page for .co.za. I was blown away by that. http://www.joannebrodie.com - check it out!

I liked the graphics, tons of good looking templates (awesome alternatives for artist/photographer portfolios), and drag-and-drop functionality. I've recommended it to a handful of friends and they all agree that it's the easiest do-it-yourself website builder out there. Great value for the money.

Been using Wix.com for almost two years now. I made a website for my online marketing and PR portfolio. It was easy, much easier than I thought. It looks great and I keep getting amazing feedback from people. I also did a mobile version for my website which took about 5 minutes to make. Very pleased :)

seriously easy to use

I used Wix to build my sister's wedding videography site and it rocked. The templates you can choose from aren't hideous like most website builders, they're actually really beautiful and super high quality - plus you can change anything you want on them so your website looks exactly the way you want it to look. The Wix web editor was all online so I didn't have to download any complicated programs and figure out how to use them. I could just open the template on Wix' online editor and change anything I wanted by clicking on it. Seriously easy to use!

Wix Sucks and makes no mention of not being able to use a domain on a free site

You guys simply amaze me! This is my problem. I recently created a free website for my wife,[external link removed] .We bought a name through [name removed] and We can't even use it now,because you simply refuse to attach it to your site because its not a premium site through Wix.com which I find ethically unheard of and sort of flawed when a customer wants to attach a domain name site,not to mention your name is on the site at left of the page if someone wants to join Wix to build their site there. Poor business practice I must say. I have used Wix.com for my photography business,[external link removed] and for my weather site [external link removed] over the past several years. I purchased two domain names through godaddy.com and never had an issue or anyone from Wix.com contact me telling me I was not supposed to. You are chastizing someone,like my wife,who is totally disabled,wants to sell her crafts on your site. Is it because you want to increase your revenues by selling more premium sites. Then why do you offer free sites then?There is no words on your site that you cannot buy a domain name outside of Wix.com ? I find this to be highly unfair. And by all means and practices, its doesn't make sense to me or anyone else. I go out of my way to promote Wix.com through my site,never had the wix ads removed from my site,and if fact I moved my sites to Wix.com from Tripod!
Maybe I will start looking for a nicer web host who would welcome my sites and my wifes talents. This is seriously flawed. Your Wix.com support person 'Rob'was pretty nasty in his wording to me in his recent reply. You have a unique way of making someone wanting to build and host a website.
It is sad that it has come to this,because you can't bend a few rules.

Always changing to help the customer

I have been using Wix for over a year. There are things that bugged me, primarily that the SEO for flash sites wasn't very good. However, this was my fault for going with a flash based company. I should say that I had tons of compliments on how nice my website was. With all the issues with flash, Wix enabled the html5 editor just recently. I have been using and really like it. It seems like Wix realized to stay in the game they need to offer this to their customers. I would like to see a bit more customization, but its still in beta so I'm sure its down the line. The pricing seems fair and overall I think its a great source for DIY drag and drop websites- better than most of what else is available.

Exceptional Creative options

I have been using Wix for 2 years & have been very happy with it. It is by far the EASIEST website creator I've used with the maximum ability to customize with no coding. I just started to learn Wordpress & Wix is SO much easier & intuitive than WP. I like that they also host the sites at a reasonable price (no separate host login or account to keep track of). Tech support has been very good. Only once was there a problem with the servers & it was for only an hour. My only concern has been the future of Flash. Their mobile site templates are adequate but I's like to see more flexibility & template options for mobile, esp since that is what displays on iPad. Wix is supposed to be coming out with an HTML5 platform this month but I've seen nothing yet. Except for my worry about Flash I would be happy to use only Wix for my own business and my clients.

I have been a wix user for 3 years now.
very easy to design your own website.
super tweakable.
the customer support ; technical and billing have been very responsive and informative. Wix has a huge community forum - big helpful tips and information - headed up by customer service moderators.
SEO smart.

I don't have a wix tattoo on my ass, but just had to balance out what is a shilled board with lots of posts clearly mistaken or shilling/lying ...

ie, posts about "not tweakable" with no definitive examples.
or statements like "no visibility for mobile" ... not true ; wix has a very easy to use editor for creating a non-flash mobile device ( apple ) website. One of my clients was impressed when she needed directions and accessed my mobile website while on the road.

I have used dreamweaver and rapidweaver. I have found wix to be the easiest wsysiwyg for the most creative options.

wix is great if you like to create, own a business, you are a doer - not a lil' shill bee-otch, and want SEO exposure.

I loved every moment of playing with wix editor features, creating, tweaking my website, sitting back, and looking at it .. it is a beautiful thing. really . not plugging ... see for yourself ..

HORRIBLE Experience

I originally purchased wix because i was new to site building and what not and it just seemed like the easiest place to get started. Well, the first year i had wix i had no issues.. everything went quite smoothly.. then came my renewal. Wix doesn't make it clear that the vouchers and domain only apply when you first get it. So now i'm paying 100 dollars for what? some more space? please, what a rip off. So i canceled it for the next billing cycle, so they won't renew my website again. I had everything set up.. bought my domain and now they decided to just cancel my premium account w/out giving me my money back. My site shows as free even though i had already paid for the premium account for this year. What a JOKE.. this is my third time trying to get a hold of them to fix my account and give me an explanation. Every professional will tell you that wix is not the way to go. Do your research before joining this site! Not only is this company a rip off their customer service is horrid as well.

DO NOT USE FOR BUSINESS!!!

Very disappointed!

We have used Wix.com for about a year or so on a premium plan... our photos have been resized without reason and its impossible to correct regardless of what we do!

FOR ANYTHING BUT A SCHOOL PROJECT - DO NOT USE!

Their support is useless and they will ignore you when the answer is buggy programming!!
