I had a £75 loan but I fell out of work and couldn't afford to pay back, I emailed them once a week for 2 months on the matter and never got a reply, I went to CAB and they couldn't get through on phone, now 5 months have passed I get later demanding £1080 or they will sent doorstep collectors this was a letter from a debt recovery agent acting on behalf of Wonga. I only had £75 now I own £1080, im off up the CAB tomorrow because this cant be legal can it?
I think Wonga like you to get in debt with them - hence you own more money back
Boy oh boy do I regret using this company. To describe them in one word; 'hopeless'. They don't respond to emails (no matter how many you send) and a phone call to them will leave you needing to lie down in a darkened room. But of course when things don't happen or happen the way they should, it's your fault. I question the ethics of these types of product anyway which target and exploit the vulnerable and suffering through morally-questionable high fees and interest charges. To throw another word their way; 'extortion'. I would consider using one of the other providers if you're intent on taking out this type of product.
Avoid kids. Took an extra £30 out of my bank for two loans. Said I didn't have funds which I can prove were in my account. Received no miss payment calls, texts or emails. Even signed into my account online the day the loan was due to check everything was okay and it said "no current loan active". Give me my £60 WONGA!
Borrow from Wonga and the banks will never help you. Wonga is rubbish. Send them a email telling them to put a do not lend on your account then you can never go back to them for a loan. i borrrowed loads of times off them. The last one i paid back over £700 to them went back a few weeks later to be declined £100. Now i have a do not lend and that is exactly how it is they will not lend to me therefore cant make money out of me.
Been a Wonga customer for a good couple of years, used the same e-mail which is now locked due to a malicious attempt to access so G-mail have locked it. Although I use "Lastpass" to store my passwords my Wonga account didn't accept the password that I'd been using with my account. Couldn't reset as could not get the website to provide a new password via SMS, kept sending e-mails to an e-mail account I could not access.
Tried to get my new e-mail associated with my account, e-mailed at 9am to no avail. Called and spoke to three different people:
1st Person - Yes we can do that it will take an hour, we will send you an e-mail asking you to confirm the e-mail address you want associated with your account
2nd Person (approx. 1 Hour 45 Minutes later) - Sorry but this takes 24 hours to take effect
e-mail received approx. two hours after original conversation, cannot access account though as still need to change password.
3rd Person (whom to be fair was helpful while the other two were useless) We have two systems, your new e-mail is on one but not on the other, our IT department need to change it to the same e-mail on both systems, this can take 48 Hours!!!
Original e-mail responded to at 0:12 the next day stating that the issue is now resolved, erm no its not Wonga!! Need emergency money, don't bother as they are totally useless when you have a pretty simple issue!!
The great thing about wonga is they clearly tell you how much you owe and when. They also clearly state only get a loan if you can afford to pay it back. The payment was fast and you can re-pay your loan early with no extra charges. Not to be used as a long term solution but great just to help you though a tight month. I thought the repayments were very reasonable for a payday loan. You can also choose how long you want your loan over and the website sliders tell you exactly how much you will be paying back and when, with no hidden charges.
Wonga had a problem with their server when I was trying to pay. I tried couple of time only to see an error message "Ups! Something went wrong!" or something like that. Next morning I discovered that they took the payment twice. When I called them up all they say is "We escalated the matter and someone will call you back". 48h later still nothing. Called them again to listen to the same story "Someone will call you back". Wonga is good if you need quick cash and you repay on promised date. But if an issue appears the "magic" disappear and you need to go through hell to sort things out... dont recomend. They are cheaper options on the market.
since i been with wonga there only been one hic up i think it took 11 hour to make a 15 min payment to me but have never come across this again i alway got a loan never been turned down so i think this has been a good service that i will use again and again in the future
When I need money and I'm struggling I always am grate full for using wonga I always pay back on time or even before but when their is a problem it has always been easy to extend I have never found a problem with wonga and would not hesitate to tell people to use wonga
I have to use wonga now an again, they make borrowing easy an quick when you need alittle more to get little extras you need , an when disaster strikes like car problens, then I can rely on wonga to help, just wish the interest rates wernt so high!.
Actually never thought I'd use a 'payday loan' company and always said I wouldn't. Yes, they're not the best things to use but if your in desperate need for money wonga is the best one out there. Yes there is interest but nothing comes for free. I've used it a couple of times now and have told people about it and how it's not as bad as people make these 'payday loans' out to be. The only time I think you could get in trouble is not paying it back, but if that's the case then why borrow it?
Fast payment to your bank easy to use just make sure you have enough money in your bank when you have to pay it back it not a long term option make sure you take what you need and no more it help me out in the past.
I tried several websites for a short term money loan, and Wonga was the easiest by far. Others wouldn't tell you how much the interest would be until you applied and some when you had given all your details, including bank account details. No good. Wonga lets you choose the amount, how long you want the money for and show you, before you apply, how much interest you will be charged. Once you apply and are accepted, your money is in your account in minutes. Fantastic. You can even pay back early and get a discount for doing so.
