They used to be a good company but now they started cheating their clients.
they state a higher exchange rate on their website and when you authorize the payment they give you lower rates.
I contacted their customer care and they were very rude and does not even speak proper english. They said rates keep on changing and they cant help. they also denied cancelling my transaction.
How could rate change after authorizing the payment? and still you display higher rate on your homepage?
Pathetic. SAVE your TIME & most important MONEY. Stay away from this company.
Someone used this company to steal $422 from my checking account with my stolen debit card number (hacked from an online ticketing service). It has been three weeks since I contacted Xoom to dispute the charge, and I have yet to talk to someone with any authority to do anything. Makes me wonder if they are part of this fraud by being willing to "look the other way", so long as they get a cut.
I am getting married in Jamaica in July 2013. I have used Xoom to transfer money to someone handling making reservations for me. When he went to pick up the money, he was told that he would not be able to receive $US and therefore the money sent would not be received. Even though I checked my account and they had already put a hold on my account for the full amount + their transfer fees. Instead I was forced to EDIT my transaction and send it to a different bank account. Notice I chose the option "EDIT". Xoom processed both transactions instaed of editing my first transaction. I went ahead and called them thinking this should be easily fixed but no it wasn't. The customer service agent was rude and sarcastic. She said it was my fault because I should have called first and stated there was nothing they could do about it because the money has already been deposited. I asked to speak to her manager and she said, " it doesn't matter if you speak to my manager the answer will still be the same." At this point I was getting furious. She told me that I needed to contact the receiver and have them transfer th money back to me. This is absurd, what if the person did not want to transfer the money back to money? I would be s**t out of luck. Luckily they agreed to help me and transfer my funds. The receiver also felt like they did not care about his concerns either.
A simply wire transfer from US to Canada became a major pain. The $ did not arrive after NINE days... they withdrew the money TWICE from my acct... NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS & EMAILS FAILED TO RESOLVE ISSUE... I had to pay another $35 to my bank to stop payment on the second withdraw... but somehow, they deposited both withdraws to Canadian bank and then sent me to COLLECTIONS! Another $30 to send the $ back to Xooms corporate office from Canada and that was 10 days ago and there is still no resolution... They are unprofessional at least and a rip off at worst.
I've tried to use Xoom a few times now but every time i do there is issues. FRom the indian call centers that hardly speak english to the bounced and constant canceling of transactions GO to WESTERN UNION. pay the little bit more but know its going to work.
AVOID XOOM like the plague. If i could give it half a star i would.

I transferred money using XOOM on Tuesday 1/8/12 to Germany. The money was taken from my account 1 minute after the transaction. I was told by customer service that it would take 1-2 business days to complete the transaction. On Friday 1/11/12 (3 business days), I checked my account and found the transfer still incomplete.I contacted customer service and was promised it would be completed by the end of business day PST.Well after the end of the day I contacted Xoom and asked for a supervisor, who stated that it was in the hands of the german bank system and he really didn't know when it would be available! POSSIBLY MONDAY!!NOT EVEN A FIRM COMMITMENT!! 6 days when the website tells you 1-2 days at the most. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $$ on a real bank transfer. BTW my friend in Germany doesn't know how he will do through the weekend

Xoom is INCREDIBLY difficult to work with. Let me tell you how every one of my transactions goes...
1. Send money through Xoom
2. Xoom calls me immediately to tell me that my transaction is fraudulent, that my recipient is receiving commercial payment, or some other ridiculous excuse
3. Xoom cancels all payments and blacklists all acount associated with the transaction
4. I have to scramble around on the phone for an hour to uselessly tell random employees from random countries about how their system is not working correctly, as these are all legitimate, non-commercial transactions.
5. Go in circles on phone listening to people with slightly different accents read the same exact script, over and over and over again
6. Go to Western Union and do what I was trying to do in 20 seconds.
Xoom is an absolute travesty. They are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, and I encourage anybody I know who knows them to boycott them entirely. In fact, the ONE time I got to a Xoom supervisor, he told me that too! He told me to just use Western Union, as Xoom is not very good. I guess I can complain about that customer support!
All my transfers have been quick, efficent and dependable. I have never had a problem or an issue with my transfers other than forgetting my password which was also dealt with easily and quickly . I would not hesitate to recommend XOOM to anyone seeking to send money quickly with confidence.
Because we have had the occasion to send funds internationally, we have a bit of experience with different methods. The most common method, via WU, is always reliable - but costly. For sending money to the countries Xoom covers, we do not think it can be beaten.
Every transfer goes through rapidly, and the notification system they use, is great! Usually, before I can even email the receiver that the money has been sent, Xoom has fired them off an email.
Once the transaction is complete, and the receiver has retrieved their funds, we receive another email, alerting us that it was picked up.
We could not be happier with Xoom, and grateful for the money they have saved us!

Before, I shifted and used Xoom services, several years ago, I used other remittance companies. I can be classified as a quasi-regular remitter. I would not go back to those other "companies" even if I would be given a 50% fee discount. They cannot beat, Xoom excellent, efficient and fast service. It's the fastest service i found to transfer money to india, better rate than ICICI fixed transfer. Till time no issues and totally safe and secure.
The rates when I started was great and now they are fantastic. I am sending money to the Philippines and my wife gets the money within 10 to 20 after I send it. I will tell my friends about this because I believe they would love to use this service.

It is not instant, but for planned transfers it is great. I compared the cost of doing this the old fashioned way, and it is only about 2 dollars more expensive to transfer to Dominican Republic, but they compensate with reliability, security and privacy.
But also, it is less expensive when quantities are above US 1,000! So yeah, I'd recommend this to anybody.
XOOM.COM is the best to transfer money overseas. Faster deposit, quicker response - I use this often and I am very happy - It is better than Money2India/Remit2India (horrible)
