First up, my partner and I were wary about going to ANY door company due to all the bad reviews and problems you hear about but after some deliberation we decided to give Yale Door a go.
The process, start to end was easy and simple. The website is perfectly suited to designing your perfect doors (we opted for front and rear doors), including all the details ncessary such as style, colour, glass (including surround), and additional extras such as numbering, letterbox, handle types, all sorts.
So we chose all of that and submitted to Yale Door. We got a confirmation email and then a couple of days later, we had a call to arrange the surveyor to come out and measure up (we opted for this). True to their word, the surveyor turned up as expected and talked us through everything, really helping to settle any concerns of worries.
A couple of weeks later, the doors were ready (they need to be built to the specification you choose). They were delivered, the old doors and frames removed and taken away and the new doors fitted. Absolutely no mess, no bother and no issues. Both doors done in around 6 hours.
We are exceptionally happy, considering our iniital reservations about spending this kind of money on doors and not having used Yale Door before. We have one tiny issue with some discolouration on the inside rear door, which Yale Door are currently investigating but its a far cry from anything problematic or troublesome. At worst, I suspect it will require a little touching up with colour.
So even with the above issue, I have no reservations recommending Yale Door to anyone wanting to replace their existing doors. The entire process, start to end was easy, simple, clean and left us very happy indeed.
If you're in two minds about composite doors and/or Yale Door, just go for it. You won't be disappointed with either.
Yale Door itself is excellent from the moment you purchase to delivery to fitting to aftersales team phoning you. The quality of the door is solid and is definately going to save me money this winter. the door itself is solid, makes the other doors in the street look poor. The fitting is perfect and the quality excellent. Would definately recommend Yale door to anyone. They put a smile on your face.
I had no idea that Yale doors existed until I was pointed in their direction by a friend. I found the whole procedure from designing the door online to arranging the survey, arranging the fitting and the post-fitting customer care exciting, user-friendly and thoroughly professional. I will certainly recommend Yale doors to others and use them again if I need to.
I would have to say that when I originally ordered my new front door I was really worried that I wouldn't like it,how wrong was I.its perfect the fitting was perfect and so is the door.
I would heartily recommend Yale door to anyone considering a replacement front door.
Who doesn't know the name Yale and the reliable reputation, they were our first choice, the web site was top quality and the service from the outset was top notch. We want a second door in the new year and we will be straight back to them.
We purchased a Yale door at the end of February 2013. After a couple of weeks or so the lock was jamming and Yale came and replaced the lock and keys. So for a few months we had no trouble and were very pleased with the door, it looks great. But the outside handle dropped off on Saturday evening! I e-mailed and expected a concerned response this morning as we cannot use the door at the moment and have to enter and leave through the much cheaper, older and still very much working back door. Having not had a response I telephoned and was told everyone was busy but someone would contact me soon - today, tomorrow, next year? I tried phoning again - before 5pm, and an answer phone tells me know one is available. I get the impression that know one actually cares if it works or not! Not at all pleased, considering what action I need to pursue to get a working front door.
We found the whole experience of dealing with Yale and their fitters, Evander, to be faultless. The person I spoke to on the phone at Yale when making initial enquiries was very helpful and once we had decided on the door we wanted and placed the order, installation was only just over 2 weeks later. The door itself, with keyless entry, has been well fitted, looks great and was exactly what we wanted. I would definitely recommend using Yale to anyone looking for a new front door.
Survey carried very efficiently and kept me fully informed. Pleasant staff.
The installation was carried out with care which was reflected in the final installation which had absolute minimal damage to the existing decorations. This was made more difficult due to internal plasterboard battens being attached to the existing doorframe.
Excellent job in all aspects, well done
Found the website really easy to use and it was nice having a picture of the door as I designed it, as well as providing really clear pricings (that other companies do not). Yale door was the most competitively priced and I found the service to be excellent. The door fitters and surveyor came when they said they would and there were no hidden charges. Everyone was very friendly and did a great job. I'm impressed with the quality and finish of the door (always a worry when you order online) and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone else, looking to replace their door.
We had two doors installed earlier in the year and apart from a mix up in manufacturing between them causing some delay we were very impressed with the service but mainly the quality of the finshed article. Not cheap but very impressive and we like the keyless entry option we ordered.
We were so pleased that later in the year we did our back door to the same keyless option. Very good.
One small point: we notice the black button on the inside to open has been modified and is now easier to operate. Any chance of getting our other two doors changed?
I now have a great fitting, beautiful looking front door to replace an old plastic one. The whole experience was simple to do, well organised and well done.
On speaking to Yale when ordering I was given very helpful advice about the type of lock which would suit me.
The fitters arrived on time and went to great lengths to do a good job.
Designing door is very easy, you get to see what you're getting. Measuring may require some experience and would recommend getting in professional services either as part of the order or separately, especially for the frame and sills. Ordering was easy and in fact need to make an amendment so started an on-line chat and received a callback within a minute. The only small issue was with the delivery where the delivery company had a wrong address however this is an issue that often occurs and probably isn't down to Yale necessarily. We fitted the door ourselves so can't comment on that part of the company. What was the icing on the cake was that we had upgraded to the lever pad handle so that we had the added security of the door not being able to open from the outside with the key but somehow misplace the split spindle during fitting. As this was our fault we accepted this and thought noting more of it, however we received a follow up call from Yale asking if everything was OK and happen to mention about the spindle and to our surprise they said they would pop a new set in the post the following day. This they did and we received them today and fitted within a few minutes. So overall very good and highly recommended, the only reason for not giving 5 stars is because of the issue with the address.
The guys who did the survey & installation were excellent and put me at ease with my decision to buy a Yale door, the correspondence from Yale was excellent, just a slight bit of finishing to the internal seal on the door frame could have been a little better but the door itself appears to be very good quality, my neighbours have all commented on how good it looks, I'm actually now looking forward to the winter to see how it performs
Excellent door, fantastic service
I've been really impressed by the service I received from both Yale and Evander.
I ordered the door online which was an easy experience. I loved the fact I could choose what I wanted without a pushy sales person!. I had the survery on the Friday and the following week the door was fitted. I was really impressed by the handover from Yale to Evander. The Evander fitters were lovely and spent a lot care fitting my new door. The results are stunning- we've already had compliments from visitors. The door has transformed the look of our home. Outstanding Service & Product thanks.
I would highly recommend this company. Build your door online. The website is so easy to use. The staff are so helpful if you have any queries. Contact from the fitters was speedy. They came at a time to suit me to measure, phone call to advise when they were on their way which was so helpful. They explained what they needed to do with the surrounds and double checked my order, as I had ordered the plain glass by mistake and put my order right immediately. Within days the fitters were installing my new door. Again, extremely pleasant and helpful. Called to advise when on way. Full explanation of locks. The door is exactly what I wanted, the quality and locking system is fantastic. I am so pleased I found this site and used this fantastic service and value for money as well.
the door looks great, is very secure & easy to open & shut. the company fitting were good - turned up when said, no mess, a really good job. i'm really pleased & loads of people have asked me where i got it from. very good value as well.
The door itself is great but the installation by EVANDER was a bad experience:
I was out when the installation was finished but was given the door key to be able to get into my home....needless to say it didn't work and I had to get a locksmith to open the door - the lock had been incorrectly installed. Also the state of the floor and the wall surrounding the door was dreadful and I had to get my decorator in to repair the mess left. To add insult to injury, EVANDER then contacted me and told me that there was a further £84 to pay even though I had already paid over a grand for my door. I was given no warning that a further payment was required and am still not sure what this extra payment is for!!!!
I would recommend that YALE find someone better to do their installations as I will not be recommending them to anyone due to this.
Great door well made. We have the key less system and it has made thing a whole lot easier. I would absolutely recommend this product.
Three months after ordering front and back doors for Yale Door, we still do not have a back door that fits properly, is weathertight, or does something as basic as stopping the slugs getting in. As a result, they have invalidated our buildings and contents insurance and violated the terms of our mortgage.
We ordered the doors without any hassle and then had a site visit to measure the doorways accurately and confirm the order. We then paid in full up front. When the day of the installation came, the front door went in with little hassle, but the back door proved more difficult. According the installer, that design of door could not be built to the dimensions of the doorway and should never have been confirmed by the surveyor in the site visit. After hours of cutting and shaping the frame to get it to fit properly, eventually the installer had to admit defeat. He filled the gaps at top and bottom with spray filler and covered the gap at the top with a UPVC strip, as a temporary measure. However, the door was not weathertight, nor thermally efficient. Given how much he had had to cut the doorframe down, it was also not securely fitted in the doorway. We have spent the summer with a door that a burglar could just kick out of the way and with snails and slugs in our kitchen. It's a good job it's been sunny, because as soon as Autumn gets here, we will have water getting in and ruining our floor. If that happens, our insurer will take one look at the door and refuse the claim.
Yale's initial solution was that we could just order a different door "at no extra cost", but the few that would fit were all inappropriate and would leave our kitchen in darkness. When we refused, they took weeks to come up with a revised offer, which was exactly the same but with £50. When we told them it was unacceptable, they again took weeks to come up with a better offer, which was... ...the same door plus £100. They clearly didn't get the problem they had caused. Their customer services were very helpful, but their management were constantly unavailable or unwilling to make a meaningful decision. It turned out that their surveyors and installers actually worked for a contractor called Evander, who were similarly unwilling to make a realistic offer or a timely decision. Yale initially acted as if they were merely an intermediary to Evander. When we pointed out that our contract was with Yale and that they should be making a decision and then informing their contractor of the outcome, they finally started to engage. At the end of July, they seemed to think they might have a technical solution that might allow them to fulfil the contract. We seemed to be constantly on the verge of agreement. However there was again delay and indecision. It took until the end of August for them to finally make a decent offer. 50% refund on the back door and it replaced. We accepted. Unfortunately, it then turned out that they weren't offering to replace the door with a suitably adapted version of what we've ordered. They were planning to fit the original alternative design that would leave our kitchen in permanent darkness, that hadn't been mentioned in well over a month of discussions. They hadn't mentioned that the technical solution had been deemed impossible. So here we are, in September, with no solution, and having to threaten court action to recover our money, so we can buy doors from someone else.
Update: When we told them they had until the end of the week to make an acceptable offer or we would consult a solicitor and complain to trading standards, they thought about it for two days then decided that making us pay for a new door we don't want was actually a reasonable outcome after all and that they wouldn't be changing their position. So now we're left with the problem of either demanding a refund, going to court, or just meekly paying over £400 for a door that we don't want, that leaves our home in darkness.
You might want to check this other review site, which seems to give them a much lower staisfaction score: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews252944.html#Reviews
OCTOBER UPDATE: In the course of the last month, we have reluctantly agreed to the installation of an alternative door in exchange for a 50% refund. Whilst it isn't the solution we we looking for, it seemed the most expedient way of resolving this issue once and for all. The doorway was remeasured, the replacement door and frame ordered and the installation date agreed. Come the day of the installation, no-one from Evander appears. When I ring them and Yale, it turns out the door and frame have been manufactured seperately and no-one had the sense to check one against the other, until the morning of the installation, when the fitter thought it might be a good idea before he put it on the van. The door and frame do not fit together, despite the new set of measurements having been taken. No installation is possible and I've wasted a day taking time off to be there.
It is now three weeks after the re-installation date. I have no new installation date. The customer account manager at Yale has quit in disgust and there doesn't seem to be anyone taking ownership of resolving this. We are back in the old routine of ringing up and explaining everything to a new person, if anyone answers the phone at all, getting promised a ring back and then no-one ever calling. I did not think this company could get worse, but somehow they keep managing it. It's late October and I can hear the wind blowing through the gap under my back door...

I've been really impressed by the service I received from both Yale and Evander. The Yale website made it really easy to create the door. I had confirmation emails at every stage and a couple of phone calls that really gave me the chance to chat through the door I had created before the order was placed. I was even given recommendations that made the door better for my requirements and saved me money! I was really impressed by the handover from Yale to Evander. The Evander fitters were lovely and spent a lot care fitting my new door. The results are stunning- we've already had compliments from visitors. The door has transformed the look of our home.
The whole Yale experience was a joy. We had fun with the online configuration tool even seeing what our chosen door looked like on a picture of our house. They kept us informed throughout the process and fitting was efficient with no mess or damage to our décor. The door is quite simply the pinnacle. Beautifully made and finished and virtually maintenance free. I don't think you can buy better anywhere.

I found the website very easy to work through and design my door as I went, I was impressed with the fact the price was reasonable and updated every stage I added door furniture. After I had deigned my door and agreed the next step all staff I spoke to were very friendly and professional and prompt
I was more then impressed that I didn't need to speak to salespeople that start at very inflated prices and then slowly worked their way down, everything is in black and white as you design the door of your choice.
The fitting side also was very pleasant, the guys turned up on time, very friendly and completed the job to a very high standard and left site very tidy when finished.
First the doors (I had 2 fitted) . These were delivered exactly to the specification I configured on the Yale website. Love the way you can experiment with finishes and accessories by the way on the website. Fit and finish is superb and they are constructed to a high standard. Security, strength and draft sealing look to be excellent.
The fitters also did an excellent job removing the old doors and fitting the new. Door frames were sealed properly. I opted for the keypad lock which the fitters showed me how to use before leaving.
Very satisfied and highly recommend.
Paid £299 for a 3 week turnaround as stated on the Yale Door website when ordering on-line. Ended up being 7 WEEKS!!!.
Problem free survey but then we had to start chasing for fitting date information. I was unable to speak to Evander - on hold for over 20 mins on several occasions then gave up as its an 0845 number. My emails were ignored.
Yale say in the advert that after the sale then your contact is Evander but I couldn't contact them. I resorted to calling Yale who advised that there had been processing error and our order had not gone through although fully paid up front.
Weeks go by and still no fitting date advised. Another phone call to Yale Door head office which resulted in a call from Evander but they couldn't fit for another 10 days. The lady was not at all 'sympathetic' after I explained that we were not very happy and that we had had to wait for so long and its supposed to be a 21 day turn around, she just passed the blame on to Yale and was quite rude to me. Anyway the earliest fitting date was when we were away on holiday so a further 5 days added. We were given an AM slot for 10th August bearing in mind we ordered 18th June 2013. We did not receive the confirmation phone call on the 9th to advise they would be turning up, as advised on the website. Therefore ended up calling Evander head office late morning on the10th to see if they were still turning up , who advised that an urgent job had come up for the morning so they would come in the afternoon. Ended up staying in all day. But I'm pleased to say that they did arrive and the door was fitted and it does look very nice. We did have to sweep the road of screws - minor problem, and clear sealant was used on top of the original bits of old white sealant.
But we were then unable to lock it at night, and we couldn't lock it from the outside in the morning which meant we had to go out/in via our garage door. Another phone call to Evander head office, (very polite), and they came out within 2 hrs which was good. The reason for not being able to lock: "Its a very tight fit and you need to put some 'weight' behind it"
All in all it has not been a very good experience for us. The main complaint is that we paid the £299 for a 3 week turnaround and not for 7 WEEKS!!
I have emailed Yale twice about our dissatisfaction but surprise surprise, no response.
No, I wouldn't recommend them - but maybe we were just one of the unlucky ones.

I can't speak highly enough of the service we received from Yale. Being a pensioner we opted for the measuring and fitting service. It was brilliant and well worth the extra cash. We now have a lovely new door which even the neighbours have commented on.
I found the whole order process very straight forward. All the information I needed to decide on the door I wanted was available on the website.
The surveyor turned up when arranged, and was most pleasant and helpful.
The door was delivered on schedule, and the two guys who fitted did an excellent job. They arrived when scheduled, made a fantastic job of fitting the door and left the site clean and tidy, making sure the operation of the door was fully explained.
I'm now looking forwards to winter, so I can experience the pleasure of not sitting in a wind tunnel, due to the drafts the old door used to let through.
Firstly want to point out I was worried about buying from Yale after reading some negative reviews on another site....however upon investigation it appears anyone can review rather than just customers!
At my first point of contact I spoke to an extremely helpful and patient individual Mark who cared about my requirement not just wanting to sell me a door. He took lots of calls and eventually I ordered three.
Their installation team Evander where fantastic, in fact so good I ended up buying a complete set of windows from them! Am having lots of work done on the house and the boys worked around other trades and took exceptional care of the property.
Really pleased with the doors, with a significant increase in light, much better insulation and fantastic security. As other have noted lots of comments from friends and neighbors.
I've never bought such an important product online before, and although I felt a bit nervous I loved being able to design my own door in detail. The whole process proved to be seamless! Every point of contact, whether by phone or email was friendly and efficient, and I developed a strong sense of confidence in all involved.
My new front door is awesome. Smart, safe, modern and beautifully fitted. The look of my house is enhanced by this up to date quality product and neighbours have asked me all about it. A good decision and a good company.
This had to be the easiest thing I have ever ordered, done over Internet on Sunday they phoned Monday to arrange measuring up and they measured on Tuesday. Door was installed a week and a half later. Fitted within 2 hours all mess cleared up and old door taken away. Fantastic, would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Yale x
From the moment I placed my order online to the follow up email to check everything was all ok once it was fitted I felt like I was the only person in the world getting a yale door! They rang when they said they would, they turned up when they said they would, they did what they said they would and believe me these days that has become so rare.
Follow that with a grandaughter who walked passed my house because she didn't recognise it with my fantastic red door and that tells you all you need to know about what a difference it made.
Would not hesitate in recommending them. So pleased working on hubby for a back door!
