There are so many negative reviews. No need i have bought from CEX loads and everything has worked. They test it. The prices are cheaper than game, HMV. Also they give better trade in prices. I recommend you visit one of there stores now!
Every couple of years I give them the benefit of the doubt and dare to buy some hardware from them, I soon come to regret this decision. It's seems 80% of everything I buy is in some way faulty, returns policy is essentially "no returns, ever." I've seen lenses for sale that wouldn't even pass the most cursory inspection (scratches on the rear element are always a good sign, right?) and DSLRs sitting on the shelf for weeks with no cover to keep the dust of the sensor. Staff inevitably don't give a monkeys (they seem to have a policy of employing the otherwise unemployable) and managers are more interested in keeping the till monkeys happy than dealing with customers.
On a side note, my (female) mate was once punched in the back of the head by a fellow customer, the staff seemed to think this was hilarious and took no further action.
I am a regular customer of this company.Almost every week i visit their store to buy and exchange my gaming stuff .So once i was in Wimbledon branch to sell my stuff for cash.one of their staff member she checked my stuff and gave me price and i told her okay i want cash for all of them.As i had lot of stuff that day to sell, the amount of money was quite big.So the staff member went to ask the manager to get his permission to give me cash.then the manager told her something..........and she came back and told me as u have lot of stuff and u want cash i have to take 15% off from your cash money and that was about £70 pounds.that was really weired for me.And i told her what!!!!!!!!!!But i told her i was to the other branches they never said something like this before so why you want to deduct so much money !!!but she told i dont know the manager told me thats why i have to deduct.that was really really annoying for me so i told her okay give me my stuff back i will sell somewhere else.then the manager came out and told me its ok i will pay you the full money.so i am still wondering that is it a new business policy for CEX or what or only for that branch????????But for sure i will never go to CEX to buy or sell something anymore.
CEX is great but just be careful. I have bought stuff from them and sold stuff to the. They mainly sell games and DVDs just check they've put the right owns in the box before you leave the shop. They have put the wrong ones in twice now. If you sell stuff to them it is generally better to do it over the Internet and post it to them so that you can select the condition and they agree or disagree. Photograph your items before you send it to them and send insured just to be on the safe side.
ordered goods 2 months ago. still no goods. no money returned and they don't answer emails. I predict this company will be out of business by the end of the year. total let down.
I Warn people about Cex the policy is Wrong the customer support doesn't exist, the manager looked dodgy and same goes for all the Cex customer services just take a Good look behind the counters all strange individuals with no training the shops stinks the music is horrible my Time with Cex was the worst.
I've recently contacted trading standards and other retail regulators and i advice you do the same thing if they treat you the same the government needs to crack down on these sort of shops and cex needs to investigate their own staff
I was told a little secret from a Cex staff member all managers are Told to reject faulty Goods for what reason i dont know? this explains a lot to me it's all Wrong
Just watch out for CEX most are New they change around shops often because one of the Cex staff said, it's a nightmare some get the sack for helping own customers
Basically i purchased a HP laptop i7, it was one of the expensive types, £1100 this was 7 weeks ago the screen went Blank on me but the Fans still turned on and the lights, Took it back because it had a ''so called 1 year Warranty with Cex''.
I was confronted by one of the assistants told the manager took it in for repairs came back 2 days later and Told me i opened the laptop and i was shocked i never would open the laptop why would i?. he wouldn't help acted out of place said it was my fault and i broke the laptop
Some times i wish i purchased my laptop from Argos, and paid little extra, and any other Big store because they wouldn't accuse you, and the customer is always right
Reason to Buy Brand new is because you get treated better from the Big stores and get help don't expect nothing from CEX
and now I've git a faulty laptop on my table WTF seriously
So my confused Brain said i bought it like it was i never Touched the dam laptop the manager said we can't do nothing and walked away like Nothing happen WTF. so i sent a email to ''WEBUY.COM'' and what a load of Rubbish till i found out they don't have a direct number it's all done by email YES its True, and now i have to contact trading standards about the situation and looks Bad apparently this happens all the Time with CEX .
I find it difficult to buy games for my PS2 and they had a wide selection so i bought two faily cheap games from Cex online and they came the next day both in working condition with instructions and intact case.
I then thought i would buy more after all the games were fine and they delivered promptly.
I bought ten games, they took a week to arrive and when they arrived i noticed that three were badly scratched while testing them none of the three worked.None of the ten games came with insructions and six of them were barely working from the damage .
One of the games came in a decent condition case and was almost undamaged however i have tested it on three seperate PS2'S and it was not recognized as a PS2 or PS disk.
Emailing Cex did no good and i was pretty much told that nothing could be done at one point they almost accused me of causing the damage to get my money back!!!
So buy from Cex at your own risk and dont expect refunds or sympathy from them
I spent 350 pounds on a laptop, the battery became faulty and when i went into the shop in sheffield they first said that they could not help as it was software not hardware?
I replied that that was rubbish, they then went to get the manager who i could see had no intention of checking my receipt or anything. He said the battery was a consumable in a laptop. I asked him to describe what he thought a consumable was where upon he got upset and said he couldn't explain the terms and conditions to every customer!
Dictionary definition of consumable is:"Consumables are products that consumers buy recurrently, i.e., items which "get used up" or discarded. For example consumable office supplies are such products as paper, pens, file folders, post-it notes, computer disks, and toner or ink cartridges. This is in contrast to the capital goods or durable goods in the office, such as computers, fax machines, and other business machines or office furniture."
He was grinning when he was saying this, they enjoy giving you terrible service.
Never buy electrical goods off this company, you have been warned!
Hi there, i have used CEX ever since they begun.
Any problems i've ever had with them they've solved. One time i bought an iPad 1 16GB 3G which had a faulty digitiser on it. Took it back the next day and they said there are 3 options you can have.
1. Full Refund
2. Replace The Item
3. Send The Item Off For Repair.
I took NO 1.
I don't know why everyone rates them so bad nearly everything i buy comes out of it.
My iPhone 5 came out of it. Only problem with it was that it had a faulty lock button, but i took it to the Apple store and they give me a brand new replacement which i was very happy with.
Only thing i can say is, watch when you buying CD'S/DVD'S or Video Games. Because they don't test them they just look at the condition of them then put them on the shelf but don't test them.
I've had a few broken Disks out of there before but they happily replaced them.
I would rate them a HUGE 5 STARS for their excellent customer service.
Maybe some stores are bad i don't know, but all the ones i've ever been to always treat me with respect.
21 days ago I bought a pair of headphones of CEX online, they sent out the wrong ones which I returned and as yet STILL havent received any replacements. There is no phone number to call, if you visit instore they can do fuck all either. I've sent emails and after a week got an automated response which told me fuck all. I just want my money back but there's no fucker to talk to. In summary CEX/WEBUY.COM are fucking useless. Avoid like the plague or an STD.
I sold my Sensation XE to CEX. I have used the stores in the past and they’ve been fine so I didn’t think twice about using their postal version. My phone was in immaculate condition with just one tiny mark on one corner and it was in the original box. They said they would pay £126 so I packaged it up and sent it off using Royal mail track and trace.
Two weeks after they had signed for the phone I hadn’t heard anything so emailed them to see what was happening but got no response. I emailed them 4 times in total with no response, it was only when I sent a signed for letter telling them I was going to take them through the small claims court that they finally contacted me but saying that the screen was scratched and there was no charger (they didn't ask for a charger) so they were downgrading me to a C and would only pay me £68.
Having read reviews on them (unfortunately after I had sent them my phone) I felt I had no choice but to accept because people were saying that the phone returned to them wasn't theirs and was broken.
Other than the one mark the phone was immaculate when I sent it off to them - I feel utterly cheated by them. Thankfully my sister is a solicitor so I was able to get free legal advice otherwise I believe that I wouldn’t have received anything at all.
I will never use CEX again and make sure I’ve told everyone I know about what happened so they won’t use them either.
Just been in to my local CEX store today to sell my mobile phone after looking online at their website and getting a quote of £47 at Grade A (£20 higher than cash4phones which after doing some research had been warned to steer clear of, or Mazuma who had offered me £9...yes NINE pounds for a mint condition, working handset!) Anyway....transaction was very fast, I have never used them before so I had to give a few painless details to set up a membership and then had to show some id to prove who I was etc, this took no more than few minutes. Once this had been done I received my membership card and a receipt for my phone which I had to leave at the store to be checked this took around 25 minutes (time to have a look around the shops!). Went back to the store with my receipt and card and everything had been tested and passed at Grade A, was offered the £47 in cash or £66 in vouchers (on this occasion I decided on cash)...easy as pie! Will definitely be trading in my partners phone to them at the end of the month, very happy customer and overall a great service delivered by CEX. Thank you very much ; )
I had an iPhone4 32GB to sell, 2 years old, fully working, only a few light marks from normal wear & tear on it, I regularly pass the Bromley High Street branch of Computer EXchange a.k.a CEX and have seen the same phone in the shop window selling for up to £250
I used a phone recycling comparison website to get an idea of the best price I could expect and was surprised to find a site that said CEX would pay up to £155 for a good condition example whilst the average a mail your phone recycler would pay was £130
I was greeted like some desperado drug addict by the youth in the shop, he curtly inspected my phone and barked "I'll give you £100 for it"
I wanted to tell him where to shove his £100, not because I'm a rude, arrogant man but because I generally respond to people in the same way they speak to me, I told him I could get a lot more from a recycler for it and he tossed it back at me saying "go on then" I'm a well built, tall alpha male, I lift weights, nobody speaks to me like this, I couldn't believe this dweebs arrogance
The comparison website that rated CEX as the best option also rated mobilephoneexchange.co.uk some quick research showed that dealing with them may be a gamble as they had a number of 1 star reviews
I sent my phone to them and received £142 immediately
I'm certainly not desperate for cash, just wanted the best deal for a very nice 2 year old iPhone that served me really well, CEX in my opinion treat you like you're desperate, impoverished scum, I haven't been treated like this in a shop since I had to sell a ring back to a jeweller for a tenth of what I paid when I was a youth, I took that meagre pittance because I hadn't eaten and never forgot the parasite who robbed me, CEX brought this 20 year old memory back and I didm't even do business with them, muppets

They'll downgrade it.
Sold one about a year ago which they downgraded from an A to a C even though the phone was immaculate.
It took three emails from me before someone bothered to respond with a "we've sold it so I can't say for sure why it was downgraded, it was probably the screen".
I should have learned but was looking to get rid of my wife's phone a bit quick - once again they downgraded it from an A to a C ("small dents on back, phone screen scuffed and scratched").
Um, it was immaculate.
Don't use them, simple as that!
I bought a DVD box set online it didn't arrive for 3 weeks then I had to pay £10.50 to get it from post office but I had already paided postage I eventually got an email saying they would send me a check for the postage refund which they did but didn't sign the check so I then had to wait another 2 weeks for a new cheque to arrive . The DVD box set was a Xmas present but the box was all ripped I had to tell my sister it must have happened in the post as but I new they had sent me a second hand ripped box . Also the staff at the Halifax store are either smart ares with you and talk to you like you are stupid or make out like your pulling a scam when trading in n i won't be buying from them again . Ps why in the hell is there no phone number for this company idiots .
I will say that the staff at CEX have helped me on several occasions whilst I have been selling my stuff and also why buying phones/tablets. The staff are very helpful, polite and will endeavour to assist you as much as they can. Having read quite a few reviews on this site I must say that anyone selling or buying, should first try a store near to where they live before sending their wares to the online site. If they still find the local store to not be up to their standards then why don't they email the head office and complain, alternatively try the Hartlepool store, I'm sure the experience may change their minds. I shall continue to use CEX for the foreseeable future.
Well im posting this to warn others about their selling service as this is now the second time i have used it and both have been horrible experiences and the worst customer service i have ever been the recipient of.
The cex website states 'Once we receive your goods we will get to work immediately, and we will endeavour to test and process payments within a week. ' however in my experience i have found this to be 100% false and just one example of how they clearly mislead their customers intentionally. As both times the first at the start of December and my most recent experience the one i will focus on during this review which has caused me to post this was initially placed on the 18th of feb 2013.
However it has taken them almost a month to process my items while they require me to send the goods within five days, I personally feel that this cannot be deemed as 'Reasonable time' as is required by the sales of goods and services act. When i contacted their customer support through email as they have no telephone number for this service i received no reply when i questioned them about the delay and only today the 14th march have they processed my order only to regrade one of my items an ipod touch as non working when the reason for doing so was a cosmetic blemish of a scratched back.
So think twice before using this service as they have shown a complete disregard for customer service and the legislation they must abide by.
Basically the Warranty is useless, Warning to anyone that wants to Buy from CEX, it's a disgrace,. it wasn't a Good experience and is my last experience they have no communication skills they don't have a head office number, they have a useless email system that doesn't work it's nasty.
WARNING TO ANYONE, NEVER BUY FROM A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T HAVE PROFESSIONAL CODE DRESSED STAFF NEVER BUY FROM A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD RETURNS POLICY AND NEVER BUY FROM A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T HAVE A DIRECT PHONE NUMBER
The staff look like criminals, they Dress inappropriate and i mean you'll be shocked one of them looked like a Punk rocker, and tattoos all over the arms hands and one girl had mixed colour Hair, with rings all over the nose and lips, its unprofessional seriously CEX needs to be investigated
This what happen to me this was for a very expensive laptop for £980 it actually had a blue screen on the furst day i bought it but i thought it was the drivers updated them and went away and 2 days later it came back the blue screens, took it back 6 days later it kept on doing Blue screens of Death, and random Boots, the staff at CEX are Terrible they didn't care i put it in for 2 days repair went back and all of a sudden they said it was my fault they blamed me for dropping it, ''CONFUSED''.
I'll repeat don't Buy from CEX its at your own risk
apparently this is the policy from CEX and it's Bad really Bad, they don't claim responsibility for faulty Items they get Rude and Horrible about things it's not right it shouldn't be like this, trading standards needs to investigate CEX.
So i'm sitting here thinking i didn't Damage The laptop, i look after my STUFF i can't believe the way I've been handled they need to respect customers.
it's been sitting on my desk for 6 days since i bought it from CEX, and now I'm complaining to the financial ombudsman, the manager didn't care all they did was moan so unprofessional trying to chuck me out the shop i was so upset i nearly cried.

Went into the CEX at Cramlington with my 1 month old Nexus 7 16gb, fully boxed including instructions charger everything totally mint as new which i did a factory reset to clear personal data before going.
So i get to the counter and Mr young kid behind can i help sir?
me,,,,Yes mate i want to sell my nexus if possible.
kid,, its not as simple as that
me,,sorry
kid,,you have to become a member and need id first
me ,, no problem ,, and i whip out my driving licence
After scanning it and handing over the membership card which i did not really want he says the nexus has to be tested about half an hour
I say no problem its mint used about an hour and ive factory reset it to clear my personal data.
Kid says oh ,, we do that when we test them fair enough i reply so can you just confirm what i will be getting for this before i leave it for testing?
The answer was £107 ,,,, which is what the website states as grade B
I said hold on ive checked the site and it stipulates grade A is £117 and as this is mint boxed unmarked etc why is it a grade B price.
He said because you have told me you factory reset it,
I say yes to clear my personal data
And i have been told to always give the lowest price possible. Customer service and staff training at its best
so can you tell me what is the definition of grade A???
He said only grade A if the shop opens it in front of the customer unused with the seal unbroken.
Upon hearing this i said forget it ill put it on Ebay
I left with the kids thank you sir ringing in my ears and i can guarantee i will never set foot in any of the CEX shops again and would always advise anyone against these people. Someone going in who needed the money would feel forced into a corner but i just wanted to shift it as i find a 7" screen too small and would have happily took the £117 ,, The Tenner means absoloutly zit to me but the principle doe's so unlucky CEX another disgruntled customer who will never return due to in my opinion poor staff training, disgusting service and a disgustingly bad policy towards customers who sometimes would be in vunerable situations when trying to sell their goods. NEVER AGAIN
The fact that I have just signed up to post this my first review anywhere tells you something...here we go and its a bit long :)
absolute disgrace of a company who acts like they are doing you a favour by ripping you off the staff are condescending and arrogant everytime I go in to sell they treat you like a drug addict selling stolen stuff for his next fix
just for one of many examples they offered me £150 for my galaxy s3 and they sell it for over £300,in the end i went 6 doors up to a phone shop and got 210 and none of that bullshit testing your goods for an hopur(and scratching them as well but thats a different story)...they pay you the same kind of money for quality that they charge absolute rubbish to sell...that is 85 cheaper than mazuma give.....they buy an s3 for the same money they sell a four year old crappy blackberry 9700...how in any world is that acceptable??????
another example I bought some dvds of the shield online and they sent me them in CEX boxes never told me they werent original boxes...yet they wouldnt buy them off me when i tried to sell them later because they werent in the original packaging...cheeky bastards, its alright to send them to me like that but they wont buy them HOW IS THAT ACCEPTABLE?????
a mint iphone 5 at cex is practically the same price as apple yet they buy it off you for 200 less than they sell it
they pray on people who need cash quick its that simple absolutely disgusting ..whats the lowest possible figure someone might be tempted to take because they are a bitt skint, some people cant wait the week or more it takes to sell on ebay or post to a recycling centre and boy do CEX take full advantage of that....if it wasnt for desperate people the company would not exist
i always find it amazing that they grade you so low ive been offered grade \C and my stuff is clearly as good if not better than grade B in their window
I could go on all day, everything they do annoys me,they fleece you on every item you buy or sell.......absolute disgrace
I hate this company
Absolutely useless company - they have good prices for some things, but the service is atrocious, and you would be better off going elsewhere to save yourself the hassle!
Had an order for a Tablet PC and eReader - the eReader arrived with a cracked screen, and the tablet PC with a dead battery, but without a charger - how can that happen?! After numerous emails, no replies from them - there is no way to phone them! Eventually had to open a PayPal case against them. Disgraceful company.
Had a second order for a digital SLR Camera, which arrived without a battery...or a charger...or a USB cable...nothing! I can not use the item, and as usual they are not replying to emails. I did not even receive a confirmation email or invoice for the order! Perhaps they blocked my email address?! Looks like I'll have to open another PayPal case...
Complete waste of time doing any buying or selling with this company. The shops are a bit better but some of the staff need to learn what manners are. I'm avoiding CeX from now on.
I ordered a dvd bluray player which never arrived. You have to wait 28 days after the "dispatch" until you can email them (you can't phone, there is absolutely no way to contact them by phone, it's ridiculous). I emailed them twice after the 28 days, but nothing, so I opened a paypal dispute and still nothing. I only got a response when I started asking them on their facebook page and even then the replies I eventually got from CS were trying to fob me off. They basically slowed the process down by asking one question at a time and leaving a day between each reply from them. When they eventually asked if I wanted a refund I said yes and had to wait another day just to be told they were sending it to the "refund" department. I'm still very dubious as to if I will ever see my money again but I will just keep bugging them until I do. It seems they don't even bother sending items out (the big red flag was when they sent the dispatch invoice which was an unopenable attached file within the email) and then just hope customers get fed up of waiting and forget or can't be bothered to complain. I had seen all the bad reviews before ordering, but stupidly thought it would be ok because I've bought stuff in store before (although i should have learnt from that when TWO boxsets I bought had dvds that didn't work, and when you go to return them they just say "we can't refund because you might have broke it. i can clean it for you though"...very helpful...) I would seriously tell anyone not to buy anything from there, especially not online! If you are willing to risk losing a few quid then maybe try the games/dvds, but don't be stupid like I was and throw away a big chunk of money!
I ordered a dvd, i know its only a dvd but they are such a terrible company. Never have i been so dissapointed about a company. The dvd never came and they dont even have a telephone system which you can complain to which is disgraceful, they only have an online complaint system which they dont even reply to! They should shut down there online system as there a scam and they dont even send there products out! DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!
I decided to sell my BB with them online as it was the best price I could find. I sent it in with the box, charger, everything. My order said 'in progress' for 2 weeks!! I've sent 4 emails and 3 online web forms and no-one has returned a single thing. I've asked for my phone to be returned as clearly they have no intention of paying me. There is no phone number you can phone to speak to someone and the automated message asks that you email and 'one of our customer service advisers will be pleased to help'! What a load of crap!
So they have stolen my phone as it's still legally my property. I will report them to the Ombudsman and plan to keep fighting it until I get payment or my phone back. They can't get away with it and it's clear to see on every review site that this company knows nothing about customer service and will be the next high street shop to cease trading. Good ridence to a shocking awful company!!

This weekend I visited the store to sell my PS3, Wii & roughly 45 games. I told the lady at the counter that the PS3 had been upgraded from the stock 40gb hard drive to a 250gb hard drive.
The lady seemed confused by this & consulted her manager, the lady the came back and informed me that she could not take the PS3 as it had been illegally modified (the hard disk upgrade procedure is written in the manual). She then informed me that she couldn't take the Wii either as they wouldn't be able to tell if that too had been illegally "tampered" with.
Although this infuriated me I did trade my games & bought a 2nd hand Wii U (without game), the lady checked the contents of the box when I asked her & confirmed that the box contained all of its items
When I got the system home I found that it was a brand new system, but it was lacking the pro controller (which the lady said was in the box)
I visited the store the next day and asked about this and I was told that they buy new systems in, remove the controller & game & then sell it separately.
I asked them why I wasn't informed of this at time of purchase as in my eyes an integral part of the system is missing. The manager said he was happy for me to return it; however, he would only give me store credit . This meant that I could either buy another Wii U from their store (minus the game & controller) or I could buy something else from the store. This means that I cannot use my money to purchase a Wii U from anywhere else
The funny thing is this week i've had two colleagues approach me asking me what I thought of CeX and do I rate them for 2nd hand items (the store is just around the corner from work), of course I took this opportunity to say no, avoid them at all costs and buy your items online.
The reason why I say this is funny is they were both looking to buy iPad 4s from the company... This means that the CeX has cost them a minimum of £770 in lost sales, both of which could have been avoided with good customer service and giving me the item that was missing from the box... Damn shame that!
Took 4 games from my disabled son and gave him a pittance for them. My son has the brain of an 11 year old so cannot be responsible for his actions. He now does not understand why he cant have his games back if he gives them the money.
i would avoid this place at all costs went to sell a wii console the lady who was serving did not have a clue what she was doing i was there for nearly an hour and that was just to sort out what i had got very bad customer service staff needs some serious training as well as knowing how to treat people never again
Traded my near perfect condition Samsung mobile phone online saying they will "honor the agreed price" then they decided to slash £50 from the agreed price saying the phone has a big scratch on the screen.
If I asked for my phone back they will probably send me a damaged one or purposely damaged the phone themselves.
They didn't even reply to my e-mail when I considered legal action (advised by my solicitor friend).
So please avoid using this company in store or online.
I just got around to going through my purchase history and realised that out of 15 online orders, they managed to fulfil 3 correctly (I am not picky, in 5 instances the wrong item was sent and had to be returned for refund, in 3 cases I was emailed to say no stock was available, in 1 case an item was sent with no power supply so was unusable, in 1 case a DVD which was cracked was sent and in the other 2 cases a faulty item was sent - I wouldn't mind so much but having pointed out all these instances they don't apologise or improve their inventory management. The worse thing is that with some out of stock items I also had other items on the same order so ended up (for example) paying a £4 delivery charge on a £3 DVD. Before anyone else points out the obvious solution-I know it, don't order from CEX online (and be cautious with in store purchases too). I definitely wouldn't buy any electronics from them again.
I bought an internal hard drive but it turned out I didn't need it. Whilst I was buying it, the girl behind the counter was talking about what would be good to use to murder someone... I mean, seriously?!
Anyway, I took it back the next day having not even touched it, I then was told I had to wait an hour for them to test it. So an hour walking around town when I needed to be elsewhere... I went back after an hour, and was forced into handing over my name, address, phone number, and email so I could get the refund. I also had to open an account with them, I tried arguing it out that I didn't want to, as I never usually use CEX.
So, now I have an account with them, they have all my details, do I get a refund? No, I get a credit note which I will never need to use.
Avoid.
I went in to sell a iPad 3 they tested it and said it wouldn't charge(even though I charged it night before) they said they tried 4 leads and still did not charge and the port was broken I took it home as soon as I put the charger in it worked

i bought an iphone for £300 on the 24th december and it was faulty so i took i back on the 26th and swapped it for another one, that was also faulty so i swapped it for yet another one, and that was working just but in really bad condition, i went to another store about 25 miles away because there where no more in stock in my local store. i got to the till and was told my local store had blocked my account so they where not allowed to serve me. i came back to my local store and the manager accused me of harvesting part from phones to sell and then bringing them back as faulty, this is obviously not the case and cex are the ones at fault because they havnt checked their phones properly, they then told me not to shop there anymore, im seriously annoyed with this shop, its pathetic. DO NOT SHOP HERE
I go into CEX sometimes to buy mostly DVD's, and a game now and then if i see one that looks good. I bought the first two God of War games on PS2, and the cases were a bit broken, but that's not the company's fault, the people who sent them in probably broke the cases before they traded them in. The DVD's i buy from there always works, and so do the games. I like CEX and I will keep going back.
look, I recently bought a blackberry torch from the Andover CEX. They told me everything I needed to know and the staff were brilliant. I am by no means saying the numerous reviews below mine are un-true, but I strongly believe the CEX experience is purely down to the specific shop. The Andover shop is far from the image portrayed by the below. So if Andover is in commuting distance I, as a costumer, would recommend it.
i bought a iPhone 3gs and there was a problem with the battery, i tried to sort it out by updating the firmware but nothing would work. so i took it back within the 48 hours gaurentee and asked them to test it, it failed the test. (REALLY SHOULD OF TESTED IT WHEN THEY BOUGHT THE PHONE IN THE FIRST PLACE) I had to wait a few hours to find this out then they offered me a full refund but insted i picked another iphone which they tested with my sim and it worked fine and exchanged it with this one. Although the whole process took 4 hours from the time i got there to the time i finnally left with my product luckily i had christmas shopping to get done... I did like the customer service freindly staff. But would highly recommend checking out the products before you buy especially with some of the more expensive items!.
I bought a DSi from the Hull store. The DSi constantly cuts out. I took it back and the store could find no fault with it. Just got home after 20 mile round trip and it constantly cutting out again. They do not offer refunds or replacements but a long winded warranty process that sees you going back and forth to the shop. With petrol and parking I am £10 down with a DSi that still does not work properly! Avoid buying electronic items from CEX or you will regret it. Try Game Shop instead.
Ordered and paid for 4 items, all of which were stated as being in stock.
Later received an email stating 2 of the items could not be sourced and other 2 items had been despatched.
Items were all guitar hero based and two items that could not be sourced were guitars rendereing the two despatched items useless/
I would have appreciated the opportunity to cancel.
Will not be using this website again, absolute waste of space
I really wouldn't trust this shop. They sold me an ipod for £105, I got home to find that it would only accept about 1gb of music (it was a 120gb ipod). When I took it back to CEX they claimed I had caused physical damage to the hard drive (it was definitely sold faulty to me because it only had 1gb of the last owner's music on it and I didn't drop it as they suggested.) CEX refused to refund my purchase (or exchange or mend it) so I am left with a broken ipod and £105 out of pocket. Please just buy from a friend, ebay, or splash out and buy a new ipod from apple. Having searched the internet it seems that the whole "you broke it yourself" excuse is common. (see below) I should have checked the internet first before trusting these people. Please don't make the same mistake.
DO NOT BUY ANY HARD DRIVES FROM THIS STORE.
BRANCH: STRATFORD
I bought 6 of them and only 1 was good!
They don't check SMART, they sell hard drives with bad sectors!
They don't allow You to check hard drive in shop!
After You come back from home, they accuse You that "You dropped hard drive" or "You broke it". They test them for 1,5 hour and after tests they say it's FINE (!)
When You ask them to check hard drive in shop for You, they say that it's already tested.
I'm going there tomorrow to try to get my money.
DON'T GO THERE! WASTED TIME AND MONEY! SPOILED DAY!
PS. And I was wondering to buy a laptop over there, if they "TEST" it like hard drives I'm afraid to think how useless it would be!!!
