I ordered a Marsall 50th Anniversay JTM1 Combo Amp from dawsons in January 2013. These are fantastic limited edition amps but they are not cheap!
There was a delay in the delivery, I did call the Reading store to make sure the amp was going to be delivered and that it was not a used item, I was reassured that this was the case....
The amp turned up a few days later, I was horrified to see an battered cardboard box and even more so when I opened it up to see the JTM1 Combo that was obviously a used item. The amp has scuff marks on the back and on the sides. Someone had made an attempt to clean the top of it but it was obviously a used item. There were finger marks around the control panel.
The Marshall limited edition 50th Anniversary amps are sent from the factory in white boxes with a Marshall certificate, a guarantee card and a user manual. None of these were present in this shipment.
I contacted customer support who recognised the problem and offered an £80 discount on the amp and a promise to provide the guarantee, user manual and certificate. I eventually got these after a few phone calls.
I have awarded two stars instead of one for the actions of the customer support team who did take action (albeit after some chasing on my behalf).
I really hope someone in Dawsons takes note from this review and takes some action to prevent this from happening again. There is nothing worse than online traders shipping out used goods, when you are buying new items in good faith.
